Collins, Virginia "Gini" S.

Virginia "Gini" S. Collins died quietly recently. She was the daughter of Jay "Pop" and Elsie Smith. Gini was raised in West Philadelphia. Upon graduation from West Philadelphia High School she entered West Chester University where she graduated with a teaching degree. During the summer of 1946 she met her husband of 55 years, the late Joseph W. Collins who was then the Captain of the Avalon Beach Patrol. After marriage Gini and Joe lived in Virginia, Massachusettes, and outside Philadelphia but always returning to Avalon in the summer. In 1984 Avalon became their permanent residence. Gini is survived by two sons and their wives, and 4 grandchildren. A memorial mass will be said on June 24th at 10 am in the Chapel of Maris Stella on 25th Street in Avalon.

Collins, Joseph W.

On July 3rd Joseph W. Collins died after a long battle with cancer. Joe would have celebrated his 81st birthday in August. Joe was born in Norristown, PA and resided there until entering military service in October of 1942. From 1942 until his discharge in 1945, Joe saw action in the South Pacific and the European Theaters. After military service Joe returned to West Chester University, where he graduated with a teaching degree in 1948. While studying at West Chester, he met his wife Virginia which he married in November of 1948. Joe joined John Hancock Life Insurance Company in September of 1948. He remained with John Hancock until his retirement in August of 1986. He began his career as an agent in Philadelphia. Just prior to retirement Joe had built from scratch one of the top ten general agencies in the company. Joe was a resident of Avalon, New Jersey. Joe began spending summers in Avalon prior to World War II. Joe was a member of the Avalon Beach Patrol as was his son, Kelley. Joe also was an avid ocean sailor where he acted as the navigator during off shore races. Joe is survived by his wife Virginia, sons Michael and Kelley, their wives, Sharon and Mary Jane, and his grandchildren Kelley, Courtney, Sean and Kerrey. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Maris Stella Chapel located at 25th and First Avenue in Avalon. Contributions to the American Cancer Society may be made in his memory.

Collins, Verna Emily

Verna Emily (nee Campbell) Collins, 86, of Ocean City, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009. She was born and raised in Haddon Heights before moving to Ocean City in 1978. A Navy Veteran of World War II, she was known as a nice person. She played bridge and mahjong almost everyday. She was loved dearly by her family and many friends.

Mrs. Collins is survived by her children, William, Mary Jane, and Maureen Hural; her grandchildren, Matt, Shanna (Gary), Andy (Amanda), and Julie; her great grandson, Alexander; and her best friend, Betty Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. and her daughter, Monica Greenawalt.

Memorial Mass will be said on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 3948 Central Avenue, Ocean City. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 11 Independence Way, Newark, DE 19713.

Collins, Margaret Hunt

Margaret Hunt Collins, 83, residing at Ocean View Center, passed on to be with Jesus on February 18, 2008, her close friends, Carol, Lin, and Annetta by her side.

She was predeceased by her brother, Russell, her mother, Amy, her father, Samuel, her son, Marvin Smith, III, and her husband, David (Doug).

She is survived by her cousins, Dorothy Marlene Yates of Virginia, Clarence W. Street, Jr. of New Jersey, Mary Ellen Galman of New Jersey, her step-son, Roger and wife Lynn and their children of South Seaville, step-daughter, Karen Collins of South Seaville and her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of very, very dear friends whom she considered her extended family.

She was a teacher in the Wildwood School System and as a teacher, she was very interested in continuing the education of our young people. She bequeathed her body to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School for further study.

She will be remembered for her wonderful keen sense of humor, her endless supply of jokes, and her compassion and kindness to so many people. God made only one Margaret. Many have been blessed to know her.

A Celebration Of Margaret's Life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the Pilgrim Holiness Church, 616 Shunpike Rd., Erma, NJ 08204. In lieu of flowers, her friend, Carol, requests that you make a donation "In Memory of Margaret" to the Pilgrim Holiness Church at the above address, where she had been attending and enjoying services before her illness and death.

Collins, III, Daniel

Daniel Collins, III, 47, of Green Creek, died suddenly in his home on Saturday, June 17, 2006. Born in Cape May Court House, he was a lifetime resident. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator with Jonathon Hand Excavating and retired from Middle Township Public Works in June 2004 after 28 years of service. He was proprietor of Collins Log Farm in Green Creek. He was a member of Firefighters Service of Cape May County and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He was predeceased by his father Daniel Collins, Jr., on January 23, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his three daughters, Shannon Vitiello of Ocean View, Madison Gray and Victoria Collins, both of Green Creek; his mother, Judith Collins of Dias Creek; his brother, Jim Collins of Dias Creek; his three sisters, Donna Hewitt of Denver, PA, Catherine Davis of Milford, DE and Sharon Norcross of Villas; and his two grandsons.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Interment is private.

Collinson, Judith Ann

Judith Ann Collinson, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Friday, February 29, 2008. Judy was born March 14, 1959 in Point Pleasant, NJ and moved to Cape May County in 1987. She worked for 18 years at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital in the Pharmacy and the Purchasing Departments. She most recently worked for AtlantiCare, Egg Harbor Township, in the Materials and Management Department as a Senior Purchaser.

Judy tirelessly volunteered for many organizations, just some of which include: Middle Township Panther Marching Band, 7-Mile Stars, Middle Township Drama Club, Our Lady of the Angels CCD Program, and Our Lady of the Angels Youth Ministry.

Predeceased by her father, William Meyer, Judy is survived by her husband, Wayne; her beloved son, James William, at home; and her mother, Dorothy Meyer of Spring Lake, NJ. She is also survived by eight brothers: Ronald (Denise) Meyer, William (Linda) Meyer, Robert (Sharon) Meyer, Richard Meyer, John (Margaret) Meyer, Larry Meyer, Thomas (Linda) Meyer, and Daniel Meyer. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in a Celebration of Life honoring Judy Collinson at Our Lady of the Angels Church, East Mechanic Street and Garden State Parkway, Cape May Court House, NJ on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in memory of Judy to the Love of Linda Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 1053, Wildwood, NJ 08260.

Colmorgan, Lenore R.

Lenore R. Hesse Colmorgan, age 81 of Oceanport died Monday, February 14, 2005 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was a Draftsperson at E.A.I. in Eatontown for 10 years before retiring. She a member of the Lutheran Church of Reformation in West Long Branch and was a founding member of the Oceanport Library. Born in Plainfield she has lived in Oceanport for 50 years. She is predeceased by a son, Wallace "Skip" Colmorgan in 2001. Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Wallace S. Colmorgan; a daughter and son in law, Carol and William Nielson of Burlington, KY; and four grandchildren. At the family's request, memorial donations can be made to the Lutheran Church of the Reformation Building Fund, 992 Broadway, West Long Branch, NJ 07764. Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch was in charge of arrangements.

Colon, Luz Maria

LUZ MARIA COLON (Nee Torres Ruiz), of Lumberton, NJ, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Cooper Medical Center in Camden, NJ. She was 61 years of age. Born in Puerto Rico, she is the daughter of the late Jesus Torres Rodriguz and Emerita Ruiz Cintron. A Certified Home Health Aid with Bayada Nursing in Maple Shade, NJ, Luz is a member of Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Holly. She is the Beloved mother of Andres Colon and his wife Nancy of Lumberton, NJ and Maria Milayros Colon Torres and her husband Jose Ortiz of Arroyo, Puerto Rico. She is also survived by her 2 sisters and her 4 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Sunday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd., Medford, N.J, (609-953-7600), where a Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 8:00 PM. Interment will take place in the La Pieda cemetery in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Colpitts, Bernard

COLPITTS, BERNARD R, . Sr., suddenly on April 14, 2009, of Mt. Laurel. Age 62. Beloved husband of Bonnie. Loving father of Robert Colpitts, Beth Strickland, and Bernard Colpitts Jr. Brother of Jerry and Lonnie Colpitts. Also survived by his grandchildren: Zachary and Chase Colpitts, Tori Veigel, and David, Brittany, and Brandon Bognar. Bernie was a veteran of the U.S.M.C. who served his country during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed spending time with his family, was an avid golfer, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Colt, Ernest H.

COLT, ERNEST H., age 80, of Buena, NJ, formerly of Deerfield Township, died on Friday, September 18, 2009. He was born on June 28, 1929, in Herbern, Germany, the son of the late Ludwig and Betty Moses Cohen. As a child, his family moved to Bogota, Colombia and in 1946, moved in Rosenhayn where he and his wife of forty nine years, Matilda A. (Radzieta) Colt raised their children in the family home.

Mr. Colt served in the Korean Conflict with the rank of M/Sgt in the U.S. Air Force and was a flight engineer. After his discharge, he continued to serve in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

Mr. Colt was employed by Owens Illinois Glass Company in Bridgeton and later as an industrial engineer for Kontes Glass of Vineland. He was very active in the Deerfield Township community serving as Chairman of the Planning Board and member of the Zoning Board; he was a member and past president of the Board of Education from 1975-1981; a member of the Cumberland Regional High School Board of Education from 1986 to 1993. He was an active member of the Charlotte Brago Senior Center of Deerfield Township serving as president for a short time; most recently, he was senior citizen advisor for the Office on Aging Transit Committee.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Betty DeLeon and husband, Edgardo of Vineland; Lisa Sarta and husband, Jonathan of FL; Vicki Haba and husband, Jeffrey of Mount Laurel; Paul and wife, Kristine of Jackson; a daughter -in-law, Andrea Burrell Colt of SC; twelve grandchildren: Dana and Lauren DeLeon; Aaron, Jesse, Bethany, Rachel and Joshua Colt; Danielle, Emily and Erica Sarta; Alexander and Quinn Haba; a sister, Edith Roth of MD; a sister- in-law, Adele Colt of FL and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, David in 2001, and his brother, Robert in 2004.

The Funeral Liturgy will be said on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at 10 am at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Morton Avenue, Rosenhayn, NJ where friends may visit beginning at 8:30 am. Interment will be in the Cumberland County Veterans cemetery.

Colt, David Alan

David Alan Colt, 39, a resident of the Monmouth County area for fourteen years, died on Monday, November 19, 2001. David was born in Bridgeton, NJ and was a graduate of the Cumberland Regional High School where he played football. He was also a graduate of the Mercer County Community Mortuary College. He attended the Cumberland County College and the College of New Jersey. He was a funeral director. He was a member of the Calvary Chapel of Old Bridge, NJ.

David is survived by his wife, Andrea (nee Burrell); his three children, Aaron D., Jesse A. and Bethany A.; his parents, Ernest H. and Matilda Ann (nee Radzieta) Colt of Bridgeton, NJ; his three sisters, Betty H. (Edgardo) DeLeon of Buena, NJ; Vicki K. (Jeffrey) Haba of Mount Laurel, NJ and Lisa A. (Jon) Sarta of Reston, VA; his brother: Paul E. (Kristine) of Jackson, NJ; and his maternal grandmother, Sophie G. Radzieta of Grampian, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Friday, November 23, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 123 White Oak Lane, Old Bridge, NJ 08857. There is no calling time. BORN IN: Philadelphia, PA she had been a resident of Drexel Hill, PA before moving to Middletown Twp., PA 50 years ago.

Mrs. Comes was a homemaker who was devoted to her family. She especially loved spending time with family, friends and taking trips to the casinos.

She was the wife of the late William Comes and sister of the late Mildred Kershaw and Claude Nardy.

Loving mother of William H. Stone of Palermo, NJ, Wayne H. Comley of Runnemede, NJ, Jean Allison of St. Petersburg, FL, Carol L. Barnhart of Somerdale, NJ and Joyce A. Heim of Pine Hill, NJ. Margaret is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and her nephew Floyd C. Threatt of Pennsauken. Comly, Emma A.

Emma A. Comly (nee Ulrick), age 85, of Sea Isle City, formerly of Bellmawr, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Emma, also known as Tootsie or Catherine, lived in Bellmawr for 33 years before retiring in 1986 to "Comly's Summer Place". She was a good neighbor and friend who watched over 45th Street.

Mrs. Comly is survived by her three children, Helen Jane Weiss, Patricia Ann Whildin Murray (Bud), and William F. Comly, Jr., all of Sea Isle City, NJ; her sister, Anna Bisnett of Oklahoma; her sister in law, Sister Catherine Comly, SSJ of Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one 2nd great-granddaughter. She was the cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William F. Comly, Sr.; her two brothers, Lemuel and Ernest; and her sister, Ivie Trainer.

Funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 4308 Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City, where viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery, Cape May Court House. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emma's memory may be made to St. Joseph's R.C. Church Building Fund, 4308 Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City, NJ 08243.
