Berry, Carl Lee
Mr. Carl Lee Berry, of Lopez, PA and more recently Alajuela, Costa Rica, passed from humanity to the realm of God on September 21, 2004, at the Miami Veterans Hospital after a brief illness.
Born June 5, 1937 in Lopez, PA, he was a graduate of Lopez Central School and attended Williamsport College. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1957, stationed in Germany. Carl had worked overseas as resident engineer during construction in Morocco, Venezuela, and Costa Rica. He retired in 1999 from the Red Rock Federal Job Corp. Training Facility in Rickets Glenn, PA to live in Costa Rica. World travel, meeting people and making new friends was his life's focus.
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Carl E. and Helen Berry, also of Lopez, PA. Carl Lee is survived by his loving daughter Michele Simcick, husband Francis, and grandson Keith of South Dennis, NJ; a son, Michael Berry of Wilkes-Barre, PA; a brother, William and wife Karen Berry of Bethlehem, PA; and many friends throughout the world.
Following cremation, services for the family will be private, and memorials are suggested to benefit the American Cancer Sociey.

BERRY, CHARLES "HUEY" H. on September 4, 2005 of Camden, NJ. Age 85. Born in Sweetwater, TN. Devoted husband of the late Edith (nee Lane). Loving father of Charles Robert and his wife Diana, Roger and Ronald and his wife Nanci. Pop-pop of six granddaughters. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Hard working all his life, United States Army Veteran, former employee of NY Shipyard, Universal Rundlel and Pennsauken High School and installed stained glass windows in most of the area churches. On July 27, 2009. Of Voorhees, formerly of Whiting and Trenton. Age 91. Beloved wife of the late Russell. Loving mother of Glenn (Judy) Berryann of Marlton and Debra (George) Tyler of Virginia. Devoted grandmother of Jennifer Berryann Morales, Gregory Berryann, Kristianna, Jordan, Julianna and Joel Tyler; great grandmother of David and Jezzariah. Mrs. Berryann was a secretary for the Math Department at Trenton State College and a long time member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Trenton where she was a Sunday School teacher and was active in women's groups. Bertolo, Pauline Safka
PAULINE SAFKA BERTOLO, age 77, Long Branch, died Sunday November 9, 2003 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was the proprietor of Paint-in-Place, Eatontown for 25 years, retiring in 1985. In addition she was a recording artist, singing Jazz and Blues along side her husband, Sal. She also volunteered at the Fort Monmouth Thrift Shop and received the award of Volunteer of the Year. Born in Chelsea, MA, she lived in Bayside Queens before moving to Long Branch 35 years ago.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Salvatore P. Bertolo, 2 daughters, Melanie Schekeryk, FL and Stephanie Safka, White Hall, NY. A brother George E. Altomare, Long Branch, a sister, Jeanne Iarrobino, Carmel, NY, three grandchildren, Leilah, Jeordie and Beau Jarred and 2 great-grandchildren, Christiana and Anna Lisa.
Friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue, Long Branch on Wednesday evening from 7-9 pm. Funeral will be at 10:30am on Thursday at the funeral home with services to begin at 11am. Internment will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery, Middletown.

BERTRAM, ELIZABETH ANN, on December 12, 2007, of Sea Isle City, NJ. Formerly of Hi-Nella, NJ. Age 85. Beloved wife of Alan T. Bertram. Loving mother of Carolann Allen and her husband Frank, Ted Bertram and his wife Eileen, and Susan Bertram Textor and her husband Stephen. Also survived by her grandchildren: Audrey, Ted, Matthew, Kyle, Lauren, Patrick, Connor and Elizabeth, and her sister Doris Nordell. Betesh, Dixie Lee
Dixie Lee Betesh, 71, of Dumont, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2003 at Woodbridge Nursing Home in Tampa, FL. She was born in Cape May to the late Robert and Emma Jane Logan. She left Cape May County at age 18 and moved to the Bronx, then moved to Dumont in 1967.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; her son, Robert of Oak Ridge; her daughter, Glenda Louise Gough of St. Petersburg, FL; her brother, William Logan of Rio Grande; her sisters, Marguerite Petey Back of Cape May Court House, and Lindy Lou Bennett of Millville; and her two grandchildren, William Betesh and Kristen Bayer.
Funeral Liturgy will be said on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, Parkway and East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Bethel, John Horace
John Horace Bethel, 90, of Cape May Court House, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Cape May Court House to the late William John and Ethel D. (Richardson) Bethel and was a lifetime resident of this area. He earlier attended the First Baptist Church of Cape May Court House. He was a 32nd degree Mason of Cannon Lodge #104, an exempt Middle Township fireman, a former Shriner, and a former shipbuilder at Stowman's Shipyard. He was an avid duck hunter and fisherman, loved motorcycling, and enjoyed camping. During World War II, he was a civil service employee for the Naval Department as a tug boat captain in Pearl Harbor.
Mr. Bethel is survived by his son, Bob of Cape May Court House; his step daughter, Carol McLaughlan of Erma; his five grandchildren; and his three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary on February 8, 2002. Funeral services are private.

Judah Westly Bethune, 3 month infant, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2003 at Cooper Hospital, Camden. He was born in Cape May Court House to Crystal Tozer and Thomas Bethune. In addition to his parents, Judah is survived by his sisters, Gabreyl and Salena Coleman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Tiffany Coleman on April 15, 1999. Margaret J. Betts, 57, of Villas, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009. Born in Cape May Court House, she was a lifetime resident of this area. She attended Middle Township Public Schools. She enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, and writing. She was formerly employed by Project Head Start and enjoyed the children. She was a former model from Barbizon Model School.
Miss Betts is survived by her sons, Guy Lamont Bethune of San Jacinto, CA and Bruce Anthony Bethune of Villas; her mother, Marie Bethune of Whitesboro; her brothers, Randolph Bethune, Jr. of Rio Grande, Bruce Bethune of Whitesboro, Gary Bethune (Gladys) of Whitesboro, Robbie Bethune of Whitesboro, Marshall Bethune of Atlantic City, Tracy Bethune of Germantown, MD, Floyd Bethune (Thelma) of Long Beach, CA, and Thomas Bethune of Whitesboro; her sisters, Beneda Stevenson of Salisbury, MD, Gail McCann of Cape May Court House, and Denise Bethune of Whitesboro; and three grandchildren, Tehya Olson, Jasmine Bethune, and Elijah Bethune.

Betz, Jack
BETZ, OTTO (Jack), on October 20, 2008, of Marlton, NJ. Age 77. Beloved husband of Herta (nee Rock). Loving father of David Betz and his wife Linda. Grandfather of Thomas Bowers and Kylie Betz. Also survived by his brother and sister, Walter Betz and Barbara Eveland, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Betz was a veteran of the US NAVY, who served his country during the Korean War. After that he attended Montgomery Junior College in Tacoma Park, MD and the Philadelphia Wireless Technical Institute. He was a cameraman/technician for CBS Channel 10 in Philadelphia and Channel 12 . Jack also was Assistant Chief Engineer for KCOS TV in El Paso, TX (part of PBS), and lastly he worked for RCA Broadcast in Camden, NJ. He also was a member of the Property Committee and Architectural Design & Review Committee for Kings Grant Open Space Association and received the 2002 Volunteer of the Year Award for Kings Grant. Ruth V. (nee Duran) Beverage of Marlton, NJ died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005. Formerly of Dunnellon, FL; Horsham, PA; and Brewer, ME. Born April 22, 1922, she grew up in Bangor, ME. Graduated from the Univ. of Maine in Orono. Worked as a bookkeeper for her father's trucking company, Border Express in Bangor, ME; was a loving and devoted homemaker, wife, and mother; and later worked as a bookkeeper for Numonics Corp. in Lansdale, PA.
She was the beloved wife of the late Milton A. Beverage. Survived by children: Clarence of Marlton, NJ; Peter of Homosassa, FL; David of Solebury, PA; and Barbara Jill Wells of White Horse Beach, MA; and grandchildren: Charles Wells Jr., Lynda Mizrahi, and Deborah Mizrahi.

BIRNBOHM, suddenly on December 8, 2001, George H. 'Harry' of Marlton NJ. Age 71. Beloved husband of Jane Birnbohm (nee Gardella). He is the loving father of 2 sons, Gregory and his wife, Tracey, and Donald and his wife, Connie, 2 daughters, Arlene and Carol and the loving grandfather of Daniel, Laura, Danielle, Robby, Kaitlyn and Jenna. Also survived by his sister in law, Rose Gardella. Born and raised in Staten Island, Harry has been a resident of Marlton for the past 36 years. A member of the American Legion, he was a Veteran of the US NAVY serving as a Seaman in the Korean Conflict. Bitter, Ralph H.
RALPH H. BITTER, 88, of LONG BRANCH died Saturday, Aug. 16, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was a tool and dye maker for PVC Corporation, Eatontown, for 15 years before retiring in 1990. He served his country honorably during World War II in the Ar-my Air Corps with the 305th Division. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Long Branch; Long Branch Historical Society; pres-ident of the North Long Branch Community Center; a life mem-ber of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2140, Long Branch; a life member of AARP; a member of the Long Branch Republican Club; a county committee mem-ber; and member of the Nation-al Rifle Association. He was the first male president of the PTA for Lena Conrow and Church Street schools, Long Branch. Born in Newark, he lived in Monmouth Beach before mov-ing to Long Branch 45 years ago.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Christina Bitter; and a sister Vida Steepe. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Bick Bitter; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph III and Annette Bitter of New Egypt, Plumsted; a daughter and son-in-law, Re-nee and Michael De Stefano of Long Branch; five grandchil-dren, Ralph IV, Julie Lynn, Rob-ert Mark and Andrew; and sev-eral nieces and nephews.

Bitz, Rosleigh Smith
ROSLEIGH S. BITZ (nee Smith), born on June 27, 1918, to Rose R. and Leighton V. Smith in Easton PA, died on November 7, 2009 at her home in Mt. Laurel NJ. She graduated from Wilson College in Chambersburg PA and received her Masters degree from Columbia University. Mrs. Bitz taught mathematics and became chairman of the Girls Upper School at Rye Country Day School, Rye NY in the late 1940's. She resided in Port Chester NY for almost 60 years with her husband, Walter M. Bitz, who has predeceased her. A senior life master in duplicate bridge, former director of the North Baptist Church Nursery School, DAR member and avid painter, Rosleigh was an inspiration to many for her love of life and cheerful disposition. She is survived by her children, Barbara and her husband, Roger Quimby of Mt. Laurel and Douglas Bitz of Warrington PA and 5 grandchildren, Brian, Anna, Jason, David and Megan. ALLAN J. BLAKE, 66, of LONG BRANCH, died Tuesday, July 8, at home. He was an executive vice president of sales for Ultimate Display Industries, New York, for eight years, retiring in 2001. He served in the Army National Guard. Born in the Bronx, he lived in Westwood before moving to Long Branch 13 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Laurel; two sons, David and Larry; a daughter, Elise; his mother, Ida; a sister, Paula; and five grandchildren.

Blake, III, Henry M.
Henry M. Blake, III, 70, of Stone Harbor, died on Tuesday, October 29, 2002. He was born on September 7, 1932 in Atlantic City to the late Frances (Malseed) and Henry M. Blake, Jr. He lived in Woodbury before moving here in 1990. He attended the Episcopal Church in Woodbury and worked at Adams Wholesale. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Blake is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rosig (Ekmekdgian); and his son, Chris of Woodbury.

Blaker, Dorothy S.
Dorothy S. Blaker, 73, of Cape May Court House, NJ, Loving mother and grandmother passed away on Monday October 2, 2006, with family at her side. She was born and raised in Salem and moved to Cape May County thirty years ago. She was employed by Farmers Home Administration as an Assistant County Supervisor from 1957 until retiring in 1991. She was an avid gardener and baker who enjoyed spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons William E. Hetzer & wife Maureen of Wilmington, DE and Michael T. Hetzer & wife Carol of Port St. Lucie, FL.; two brothers Thomas Seeney and Ronald Seeney, two sisters Mary Miller and Florence Fithian, four grandchildren Tiffany and Ryan Hetzer, David Tusio and Lauren Hetzer; and her friend and companion Dennis Gallagher. She was preceded in death by her husband, David E.Blaker in 1999, who is survived by four children including David E. Blaker and wife Lynne of Delray Beach, FL.

BLANK, ALLEN, 82, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Saturday September 2, 2006, at the Court House Convalescent Center. He was born in Pennsuaken Township, Camden County. He lived in New Gretna, NJ and Lewes, DE prior to moving to Cape May Court House. He was a retired carpenter and millwright for the NJ United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America -Local Union #393. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII where he was awarded the Victory Medal; American Theatre Ribbon; a unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 3 stars and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 stars. He was a past commander of American Legion Post #493 and the VFW Post 316 and a member of the Highland Volunteer Fire Company of Pennsauken, NJ and the AFL-CIO. He is survived by his daughter, Terry L. Borkovic; a son, Allen, Jr.; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; one sister, Florence Kuhlen.

Elizabeth Jane DeNoe Blank: Age 72 and resident of Mt. Laurel for over 46 years passed away on June 28, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Devoted wife of Albert E. and beloved mother of Linda Eaton of Mt. Laurel, Cynthia Blank-Reid (Paul) of Mt. Laurel and Sharon Taylor (Mark) of Temecula, CA. She was born on October 8, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Tenafly, NJ at the age of 6. She graduated from Tenafly High School in 1953. She attended the University of Pittsburgh for a year and then transferred to Chatham College in Pittsburgh and earned her degree in elementary school education in 1958. Early in her career she taught sixth grade at the Wyoming Ave. Elementary in Audubon, NJ. She married
Albert Blank, Jr on August 29, 1959 at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsburgh. She was active in numerous community organizations and held several leadership positions in the Ramblewood Civic Association, the Animal Welfare Association, the Parkway School PTO, the Mt. Laurel Middle School PTO (now Harrington School) and the Lenape Band Parents Association. In addition she taught CCD at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish. She had a Girl Scout troop for many years in Mt. Laurel and was involved with the Burlington County Girl Scouts. She founded the national support group for individuals with Chronic Interstitial Cystitis and started their national meetings for patients.
She worked in Delran Township for over 25 years and was the Reading Specialist for over 20 years at the Millbridge Elementary School. She earned her Master's Degree from Glassboro State in June of 1977 and was a learning and reading specialist.
Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Wednesday from 7-9pm at the Bradley Funeral Home Rt. 73 and Evesham Rd. Marlton (856) 983-1005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am Thursday at Our Lady of Good Counsel 42 West Main Street Moorestown, NJ 08057. Interment will be at Colestown cemetery, Cherry Hill NJ 08034.

BLAUM, PHYLLIS, on February 13, 2010, of Haddon Heights. Formerly of Cherry Hill. Age 87. Wife of the late Dr. Bernard Blaum. Beloved mother of Caroline Blaum, Frances Blaum-Naughton, Phyllis Anderson, and Marion McGovern. Also survived by 10 grandchildren.
