Allen, Robert Lee

Robert Lee Allen, 64, of Woodbine, died on Thursday, September 15, 2005 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Empire, GA to the late Jimmy and Mollie (Mifflin) Allen and moved here 42 years ago. He was a maintenance service worker at Woodbine Day Care Center. He enjoyed shopping, baseball, gardening, and preparing home cooked meals for the family. He started his own lawn care business. He was a handyman and could do any kind of work.

Mr. Allen is survived by his sisters, Lucille Allen of Woodbine, and Minnie Boyd and her husband, Curnice of Cape May Court House; his brother, James Allen of Woodbine; his sisters in law, Rosa and Thelma Allen of Cochran, GA; his aunt Irene Simmons of Eastman, GA; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Delacy; and his sisters, Mary and Willie Mae Allen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodbine, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Woodbine cemetery.

Allen, Willis C.

Willis C. Allen, 76, of Belleplain, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at his home. Born in Woodbury to the late Egbert Willis and Juliette (Cornelis) Allen, he had lived here since 2001 after moving from Cape May Court House. Will was formerly a bus driver for the Middle Township Public School System. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Stone Harbor American Legion Post, of the Civil Air Patrol, and of St. Casimir's R.C. Church.

Will is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Savarese) and five children: Vincent Willis; Paul Anthony Willis Allen; Willis Cornelis Allen, Jr.; Carol Ann Marie Allen and Anthony Francis Willis Allen.

The Funeral Liturgy will be said on Monday, March 26, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Casimir's R.C. Church, Woodbine, where friends may visit at 9:30 a.m. Private interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Cold Spring. Memorials may be made to St. Casimir's Church, 304 Clay St., Woodbine, NJ 08270 or the Belleplain Rescue Squad, 138 Washington Street, Woodbine, NJ 08270.

Allen, Frances Mildred

Frances Mildred Allen, 72, of Cape May Court House, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia and moved here in 1977 from Michigan. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW in Villas.

She is survived by her children, Julia Wines of Virginia, Bernard Allen of Iowa, and John Allen and his wife, PJ of Pennsylvania; her brother, Harry Stackhouse and his wife, Carol of Pennsylvania; her sister, Naomi Rudden of New Jersey; and her grandchildren, Lauren, Ben, Jessica, and Kristen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Cold Spring. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 626 North Shore Road, Absecon, NJ 08201.

Allen, Robert D.

Robert D. Allen of Collingswood, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 28, 2001. He was 82 years of age. Born in Newark, NJ he has resided in Collingswood for the past 5 years moving there from Morristown, NJ where he lived for 30 yrs. Before this he resided in Madison, NJ and Maplewood, NJ. A graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ, he went on to attend Green Mountain Jr. College in Poultney, Vermont. A long time member of the Madison United Methodist Church in Madison, NJ, his many interests included classical music to literature and Boy Scouts to bee keeping. He worked for many years as a Stock Clerk for the Fravessi-LaMont Greeting Card Company in Millburn, NJ and was a veteran of the Army serving in WWII. He is survived by his sister-in-law Irene R. Allen of Leisuretown, Southampton, NJ and her family, his niece Margaret C. Vitolo and her husband Richard of Charolotte, NC, his nephew Thomas B. Allen of Boulder, CO and several cousins and their families. ALLEN, HELEN, on December 27, 2008, of Cherry Hill, NJ. Age 84. Beloved wife of Linwood "Stu" Allen. Loving mother of Ruth Allen (Daniel) and Steve Allen (Donna). Sister of Gustaf Keun. Grandmother of Michael (Lisa), Nicholas (Stephanie), Kyle, and Cory. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Michael Jr., Carmen, Gianna, and Anthony, and many loving nieces and nephews. Allen, Richard Marsland

Richard Marsland Allen of Leisuretown, Southampton, NJ passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at his home in Southampton, NJ. He was 78 years of age. Born in Newark, New Jersey he has resided in Leisuretown for the past 4 years moving there from Morris Twp., NJ. A long time educator, he retired in 1988 after working as an English teacher and play director at the Glen Ridge High School in Glen Ridge, NJ for 34 years. A graduate of Colgate College in Hamilton, NJ with the Class of 1945, he also received his Master’s Degree in English Education. A WWII Veteran with the US Army he served as a Cryptography Tech 5th Grade. He was a member of the China-Burma-India Veterans Assoc. #28516. A recognized Artist, he enjoyed working with the Art Workshop in Leisuretown where he was also a member of the Ballroom Dance club and the History Club. He was the Recording Secretary and News Letter Editor for the NJDC Parents Council, the Treasurer of the Cottage III Parents Group NJDC and a member of the Medford United Methodist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife Irene Wiman Allen (Nee Scholtz) of Leisuretown, NJ, his sons Dr. Alan R. Wiman and his wife Nancy of Tabernacle, NJ, and Thomas Allen of Boulder, CO, his daughters Linda Wiman Fabio and her husband Ronald of Falmouth, ME, Margaret Allen Vitolo and her husband Richard of Charlotte, NC, and Phyllis J. Wiman of Totowa, NJ. He is also survived by his brother Robert D. DORIS M. ALLEN (Nee Lenard) passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Deborah Heart & Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ. She was 71 yrs. of age. Born in Lindenwold, NJ, she resided in Mt. Laurel, NJ for the past 20 years moving there from Pennsauken, NJ. A graduate of Camden Catholic H.S. in 1949, she is a former CEO for the Reisman Pretzels in Pennsauken, NJ where she worked for over 25 years until her retirement in 1997. She is the beloved wife of Robert J. Allen Jr. of Mt. Laurel, NJ, loving mother of Doris M. Pulone and her husband Harry A. of Mt. Holly, NJ, and Leigh (Eileen) Allen of Mt. Laurel, NJ. She is also survived by her brother Rudolph Lenard and his wife Helen of AZ, her sister Madleine Watson and her husband Burt of Oaklyn, NJ and her two Grandchildren Robert & Nicole Pulone. Allen, Florence A.

Florence A. Allen (Nee Adams) of Leisuretown, Southampton, NJ died on Saturday, October 13, 2001 at the Care One of Evesham in Marlton, NJ. She was 82 years of age. Born in the Philadelphia, PA., she has lived in Leisuretown since 1988 moving there from Medford, NJ. A graduate of Kensington H.S. for Girls in Phila., PA, she graduated from the Philadelphia College of the Bible. From 1936 – 1945 she worked for SKF Manufacturing in Phila., PA as a secretary. She then went to work for Reese Haines Insurance in Medford, NJ from 1955 to 1969. In 1971 she went to work for Shawnee High School in Medford, NJ as a library secretary until she retired in 1981. She is a former member and secretary for the Medford PTA and was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for 10 years. An accomplished cornetist and pianist she was a member of the Phila. Youth Orchestra. She played the piano for the weekly meetings of the Medford-Vincentown Rotary Club for over 10 years and was the Secretary for the Director of the Community Center in Medford, NJ. She was also a member and music historian for the Leisuretown Singers. She was a proud member of the Laubach Ancestral Assocition and during the fifties served as an ambulance volunteer in Torresdale, PA. She is the wife of the late Albert M. Allen. Beloved mother of Bruce C. Allen and Jeffrey G. Allen both of Shamong Twp, NJ. She is also survived by her sister Alice Urban of N. Wales, PA, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathryn & Winfield Bauers of Phila., PA. and one Grandson Jeffrey Keith Allen of Montclair, NJ. Allen, Mary Elizabeth

MARY ELIZABETH ALLEN, 84, of New York, formerly of LONG BRANCH, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was employed by the New York City Vital Statistics Department for 35 years. Born and raised in Long Branch, she lived in Long Branch before relocating to New York 67 years ago.

She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert D. Allen Sr., in 1995; and a son, Herbert D. Allen Jr., in 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Beverly F. Sunnerville of Long Branch; a sister, Alberta Rivers of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Andree C. Sunnerville, Faith C. Sunnerville, and Styra Dawn Sunnerville, all of Florida, Eddie Walter Sunnerville of New Jersey, Mary Beth Chavious of North Carolina, Lorie Lockley of New Jersey, and Brendon Allen of New York; and eight great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Damiano Funeral Home, corner of Third and Franklin avenues, Long Branch, with a service to begin at noon. A private entombment will be in New York City. Allen Jr., Robert J.

ROBERT J. ALLEN JR. of Mt. Laurel, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27th, 2005 at his home in the Leisuretowne Section of Southampton, NJ after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was 79 yrs. of age. Born in Gloucester City, NJ, he grew up in Camden where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson H.S. in 1943. He resided in Mt. Laurel for the past 23 yrs. moving there from Pennsauken, NJ. Robert served in the US Navy from 1943-1946 aboard the USS Moale. He began his career at RCA, then worked at PSE&G in Moorestown for 43 years retiring in 1990 as a Electric Meter Supervisor. He was a member of the Medford VFW Post # 7677 and was a member of the Tin Can Solders and the USS Moale Assoc. Robert is predeceased by his loving wife of 49 yrs, Doris Allen. Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters Leigh (Eileen) Allen of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Doris Pulone and her husband Harry of Mt. Holly, NJ. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Juckett of Pennsauken, NJ and his two Grandchildren Robert and Nicole Pulone as well as many extended family and dear friends. ALLEN, GEORGE J. suddenly on Sept. 17 in Sonoma, CA. Of Marlton, NJ age 71. Loving husband of Marilyn, devoted father of Patricia, George (Susan), Elizabeth, Steven (Lisa), Michael and the late Keith; grandfather of Jason, Kelly, Chelsea, John and Benjamin; also survived by daughter in law Robin, 1 brother and 4 sisters. He served honorably in the US Air Force in Germany in support of the Berlin airlift, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. A leader in the Real Estate and Mortgage banking industry, he was instrumental in pioneering mortgage insurance in the State of NJ. Beattie, Zachery Allie, Jessica Allie, Makala, and Marrissa Allie, her aunt Beatrice Hall, sister Joyce A. Dolores was the matriarch of her family and will sadly missed by all. Aloi, Anthony C.

Anthony C. Aloi Jr., of Franklinville, NJ died suddenly Wednesday, June 26, 2002 as a result of an automobile accident. Age 18 years.

He was a student at Delsea High School. He was recently employed as a mechanic at Hale Trailer and Wheel in Voorhees, NJ.

He is survived by his father Anthony C. Aloi Sr., and mother Lillian Dougherty, his sister Melissa Riley and girlfriend Kristina Wacker. He will be deeply missed by many relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday 8 pm at the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 420 South Main St., Williamstown, NJ where relatives and friends may visit the family after 6pm. Interment private.

Aloise, Josephine

JOSEPHINE ALOISE (Nee Colaiacomo) went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 1st, 2005. She was 90 yrs. of age. Born in Phila, PA, she resided in Marlton, NJ for the past 40 yrs. She is the daughter of the late Augustine and Agatha Colaiacomo and the wife of the late John J. Aloise. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joshua Morrison on January 11, 2001. Alt, Lee M.

ALT, Lee M. on November 5, 2007, of Marlton NJ. Age 84. Beloved husband of Mildred (nee Roberts) Alt. Loving father of Gaynell and her husband, John Carnuccio, Laura Lee and her husband, David Oberg and Kimberly and her husband, Todd Brinser and loving grandfather of Tiffany, Alexis and Matthew Carnuccio, Malen and Haley Oberg and step grandfather of Liam and Austin Brinser. Dear brother of Phyllis and her husband, Stan Jiuliano and Mildred and her husband, John Bortell. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force serving 4 1/2 years during WWII attaining the rank of Sergeant gunner. Mr. Alt awarded the Bronze Battle Star for Submarine Patrol and served with the 36th Fighter Control and the 25th Bombardment. He was the owner and operator for over 30 years of the Lee Alt Co. Inc., Pennsauken. Mr. Alt was a member of Camden Rotary Club and American Legion Post 0366, Phila. Alterio, Mario

Mario Alterio age 82, of Long Branch died Friday, December 3, 2004 at Kensington Manor, Toms River. He worked for many years as an electrical engineer at Lakehurst Naval Base and later at Fort Monmouth before retiring. He has several patents under his name, including a patent for an arresting gear for jet planes that allowed them to land on aircraft carriers. He was born in Naples, Italy, moved to the United States in 1951, when he married his wife, Mary T. Vinci. He was a communicant of St Michael's Roman Catholic Church, West End, Long Branch. He was always extremely proud of his Italian heritage, which can be traced back to Roman Times. His family was directly descended from two cardinals and one pope, Clement X, who lived during the middle ages. He served in the Italian Underground during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Vinci Alterio; 2 sons, Attilio T. Alterio, West Long Branch; Eugene Alterio, Scottsdale, AZ; 4 daughters, Mary E. Jensen, West Long Branch; Louise "Gigi' Compton, Medford; Claire Alterio, Long Branch; Grace Geden, Gloucester, MA; and 16 grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 7, from 2-4, 7-9 pm from the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, on the corner of Third Ave, Long Branch. Funeral Wednesday, at 9:30 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass at St Michael's R.C. Church. Interment will be at Mt Olivet cemetery, Middletown. Alterio, Attilio "Tom"

Attilio "Tom" Alterio, age 53, West Long Branch, died Firday June 30, 2006 at Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark. After a lifelong battle with cancer he finally found peace from his pain. Born and raised in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Star of the Sea Academy, CBA and Monmouth University. He graduated Syracuse University with a degree in communications and then went on to graduate from Rutgers University with a Degree in Pharmacy. He was the Director of Pharmacy in institutional practice with 15W Pharmacy, Edison, NJ for the last 13 years. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed listening to music and playing his guitars. Highlights of his life were vacationing in Maine with his family and spending "incredible" days at the beach with his wife and friends. Being with his many nieces and nephews always "brightened" his days.

He was predeceased by his father, Mario in 2004

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wilma Sroka Alterio, his mother Mary T. Alterio, Long Branch, 4 sisters, Mary Jensen, West Long Branch, Louise "GiGi" Compton, Long Branch, Claire Alterio, Long Branch, Grace Geden, Glouchester, MA, a brother, Eugene P. Alterio, Scotsdale, AZ, 21 nieces and nephews, 4 great nieces and nephews and his golden retriever, Hercules.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, July 3, 2006 at his home at 11 AM.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday July 6, 2006 at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, West End at 10:30AM.

ALTSHULER, Mary (nee Grasso)

On 7/8/2002 of Gloucester City, NJ; age 87 years.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Altshuler was employed at Campbell Soup Company for over 43 years. She was an active parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Gloucester City and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Fatima Church in Camden for many years.

Beloved wife of the late, Benjamin; Devoted Mother of Doris Wiegand; Loving grandmother of Frank and Nicole; Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral on Saturday from 8:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at the Church of St. Mary, Monmouth Street in Gloucester City. Interment will take place at New Camden cemetery, Camden. Visitation and vigil service at the Funeral Home on Friday from 7-9PM.

Alvino, Elsie Valenti

Elsie J. Valenti Alvino age 88, of Allenwood formerly of Long Branch died Friday, March 19, 2004 at home. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Allenwood for the past 6 months. She was predeceased by her son Robert D. Alvino in 1972 and a grandson Adam Alvino in 1994.

Surviving are her husband Vincent J. Alvino; a son and daughter in law, Vincent Joseph and Janice Alvino, Allenwood; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Brian and Nicholas.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, corner of Third, Long Branch on Tuesday, March 23, from 2-4, 7-9 pm. Funeral Wednesday, at 8:30 am from the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Mass at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, Long Branch. Interment Woodbine cemetery, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to the Adam Alvino Scholarship Fund, C/O Jack Hahn, Wall Township Board of Education, 18th Ave, Wall Township, New Jersey 08720 or the Visiting Nurses of Central Jersey Hospice, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
