Dumas, Raymond E.

RAYMOND E. DUMAS, age 84, of Long Branch died Thursday, December 25, at home. He was a chemical engineering technician at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown for 32 years retiring in 1970. He was a life member of the North Long Branch Community Club, and the Long Branch Elks Lodge 472. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He served his country honorably in both the US Army and Navy. Born in Cherubesco, NY, he had been a life resident of the area.

He was predeceased by his son Raymond Dumas in 1976. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jennie Arabia Dumas, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Dumas, North Carolina, a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Bates, Long Branch, a brother, Gilbert Dumas, AZ, 2 sisters, Cecilia Donahue, Kingston, NY, Theresa Monroe, Brasher Falls, NY, a daughter-in-law, Mary Dumas Kingsley, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, corners of Third and Franklin avenues, Long Branch on Sunday, December 28, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Monday December 29, 8:30 am from the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Long Branch. Interment will follow in Woodbine cemetery, Oceanport. Memorial donations are requested to the American Diabetes Association,19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset, NJ 08873.

DUBE', ELIZABETH PAULINE

(nee von der Tann), age 96, of Moorestown, NJ died Sunday, March 21, 2004. She was born in Williamstown, NJ on March 1, 1908, the daughter of the late Catherine (nee Schulze) and Hugo von der Tann, and raised in Berlin, NJ. A graduate of Haddonfield High School and Glassboro Teacher's College, she taught the 5th Grade in Berlin. She met her late husband, Wilfred L. Dube', when he was stationed at the Berlin Barracks of the NJ State Police which was housed in her parent's home. Wed in 1928, they had 52 happy years together. She was a talented seamstress, a caring teacher, a gourmet cook and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The Dube's traveled extensively throughout the world and enjoyed entertaining their many friends. Her interests were many, but her primary devotion was to her family. We, the recipients of her warm love and generosity, will miss her terribly. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Wolf (Roger), her grandchildren Brian Wolf (Joanne), Lisa Sollenberger (Jeff), Lynn Ferguson (Randy) and her great-grandchildren Amanda, Callan, Rionna and Tara. D'Ortona, Adele

D'ORTONA, ADELE "TiTi", on January 3, 2004 of Marlton, NJ. Formerly of Philadelphia, PA and Laurel Springs, NJ. Age 73. She was a life-long employee of TWA and held many positions throughout her career. TiTi was a fun loving, free spirit who traveled the world. Beloved daughter of the late Mamie and John J. D'Ortona of Phila., PA. Sister of the late Mary H. Hahn of Cherry Hill, NJ and the late Sam D'Ortona of Converse, TX. Survived by nieces and nephews: Robert F. II and Mary Ellen Hahn of Marlton, Susan and John Masino of Marlton, Michael P. Hahn of Marlton and Thomas A. and Barbara Hahn of Burlington, NJ. Also survived by great nieces and nephews: Dr. Robert F. Hahn III, Mary F. Hahn, Christopher Hahn, John J. Masino III, Jessica Anne Masino, Jaimie Masino and Jeffrey Masino, all of Marlton. She will be missed by all hearts she touched. Donato, Ernest J.

Ernest J. Donato age 83 of Long Branch died Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was director of operations at Monmouth University for 18 years retiring in 1985. He was instrumental in the restoration of Wilson Hall and the set for the filming of "Annie" with Columbia Pictures at the college. He served his country honorable in the US Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Donato was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He was born in New Brunswick and had lived in Jersey City before coming to Long Branch 50 years ago. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and his home.

Surviving are his wife Constance "Tina" Donato; 3 sons and a daughter in law, Joseph Donato, Long Branch, Dennis and Diane Donato, Interlaken, Phillip Donato, Little Silver; a sister Josephine Bruno, New Brunswick; and 3 grandchildren, Ellen, Elizabeth and Christopher.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, corner of Third Ave, Long Branch on Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 pm. Funeral Wednesday, February 4, at 10 am at the funeral home followed by a 11 am Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Entombment Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. DiGiacomo, Ciro Frank

Ciro Frank DiGiacomo, an award winning photojournalist in NJ & PA, on December 29, 2003, of Cherry Hill, NJ. Formerly of Marlton, he was born and raised in Bronx, NY. Age 70. Beloved husband of Marlene DiGiacomo (nee Fazio). Dear son of Millie DiGiacomo (nee Garufi). Loving father of Steven of Cherry Hill, NJ & Vincent of Arizona. He is also survived by a sister, Marie Jaconetti and a number loving nieces and nephews. He is also the father of the late Linda DiGiacomo. Frank retired in 2001 from the Newark Star Ledger where he was a Photojournalist since 1977. While employed at the Star Ledger, he was in charge of the Photo Dept. in the State House, Trenton. Prior to that he was employed with the Delaware County Daily Times, Courier Post & the Catholic Star Herald. He has received a number of journalism awards and was voted the NJ Photographer of the Year. While serving in the US ARMY during the Korean War, he was in charge of the Photo Staff. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday from 7-9pm and Friday from 7:45-8:45am at the Bradley Funeral Home, Marlton (856) 983-1005. Evans, Leonard Charles

Leonard Charles Evans, 33, of Villas, NJ, was born November 21, 1970 in Cape May Court House, NJ to Ben and Arlene Evans. Lenny was the fifth of six children. He had three brothers and two sisters. In his youth, the family attended St. Stephen's Church in Whitesboro, NJ where he was a member.

Lenny was a life long resident of Middle Township and a 1989 graduate of Middle Township High School. He was a hard working, caring person who gave his best to his job and his community. Lenny served in the National Guard from June 1989 to June 1997. On September 7, 1991, Leonard married Sheila Ann Francis. Leonard and Sheila are the proud parents of five children. The family lived in Cape May Court House until they moved to the Villas in 1994.

After high school, Lenny worked at Avalon Honda for two years before moving on to Tropicana Resorts and Casino where he worked for twelve years until his death. Tropicana employees have fond memories of a dedicated and dependable co-worker.

Lenny was a kind, loving and very supportive husband. He was a generous, patient and loving father to his five children. His warmth, his smile, and the comfort of his thoughtfulness will be sadly missed by his wife, his children, his family, his friends, and all who knew him.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Sheila Ann, his children, Brandon, Leonard Jr., Terance, Desirae, and Kyle; his parents, Ben and Arlene Evans of Cape May Court House; his siblings, Elliot of Edgewood, Maryland, Leverne of Severn, Maryland, Ben Jr. from North Wildwood, New Jersey, Gary from Tampa, Florida, and Roshanda from Prince Georges County in Maryland. He is also survived by and will be missed by his mother and father-in-law, Peter and Agapita of Indian Trail; brother-in-law Christopher Francis of Wildwood Crest, New Jersey; sister and brother-in-law Priscillas and Steven Borders of Atlanta, Georgia.

Lenny touched many lives and his loss will be mourned by a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at 11:00 AM at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Av., Cape May Court House, NJ, where friends may call 9:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment in Household of Ruth cemetery, Whitesboro, NJ. Memorials may be made in his memory by contacting William Davis at (609) 465-9406 or Peter Francis at (609) 465-3545.

Evans, Frederick A.

Frederick A. Evans, 78, of Wellington, Florida formerly of Long Branch, passed away May 19, 2004 in West Palm Beach, FL. He was an assistant Vice President at First Fidelity Bank in Long Branch, retiring is 1982. He was a member of AAONMS Salaam Shrine, Livingston, N.J., serving as Potentate 1983; Amara Shrine, Palm Beach Gardens, Fl.; Matawan Lodge 192 F&AM; Scottish Rite of Lake Worth Fl.; Royal Order of Jesters, Newark Court #3, and the Cabiri of Salaam and Amara Shrine. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines 1943 served in Pacific and European Theaters. In 1945, he enlisted in the Navy, served in Pacific Theater including 2 "A" bomb tests at Bikini Atoll, being aboard the nearest ship to the tests. Born and raised in Long Branch, moved to West Long Branch in 1957, relocated to Wellington Florida in 1999.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 46 years, Arline Bjorkner Evans; 2 daughters and sons in law, Susan and Jeffrey Winterbauer of Wellington, FL, and Beverly and Kevin Carden of Bel Air Md.; a sister and brother in law, Lois and Frank Fariello, Palo Alto, CA; 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to: Hospice by the Sea, 1531 Palmetto Park Rd., Boca Raton, Fl. 33486 or your favorite charity. Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch is in charge of arrangements.

Essandrio, Rudolph G.

RUDOLPH G. ESANDRIO, 91, of LONG BRANCH, died Thursday, July 17, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was a mechanical inspector at Bendix Corp. for 30 years, retiring 25 years ago. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Long Branch and a member of the Long Branch Elks, Lodge 742. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Newark before moving to Long Branch 30 years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Ventrola Esandrio; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard J. and Maryann Esandrio of Sayreville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and William Hall of Indiana; three grandchildren and their spouses, Taran and Gene Fedor, Richard and Christy Esandrio, and Alicia Hall; and three great-grandchildren, Tiana, Graciella and Keelin.

Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with a funeral service to begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home at the corner of Third and Franklin avenues, Long Branch.

ESPOSITO, MICHAEL

On January 10, 2004 of Marlton, NJ for 53 years. Age 81 years. Beloved husband of Virginia (nee Milazzo) for 56 years. Devoted father of Michael and his wife Amy of Robbinsville and Gary of Marlton. Loving grandfather of Alex and Emily. Dear brother of Rose Grasso, Antoinette Sacco, Angeline McNamee, Mildred Lardi, Florence DePalma, Helen Campbell, Frank, Rocco, Lawrence, Dominic and Louis Esposito. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Prior to retirement, Mr. Esposito was owner of Mike Esposito Auto Body in Marlton. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of WWII and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was also past commander of the VFW #6295 in Pine Grove. Mr. Esposito was a loving and devoted family man, who was loved by all. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Rt. 73 South in Marlton, NJ. ERNST, JOHN F. on March 13, 2004 , of Mt. Laurel, NJ. Formerly of Cape May, NJ. Age 85. Beloved husband of Jean (nee DiMenna). Also survived by : his son, John R. Ernst and his friend Cheryl Zoppina of Medford, NJ, sisters, Marie Kelch and Anna Carr, both of Phila., PA, and his granddaughter Adrienne Ingram and her husband Christopher. Erickson, Jon Dennis

JON DENNIS "Denny" ERICKSON of Southampton, NJ, passed away on Saturday, August 7th, 2004 surrounded by his family at his home. He was 69 years of age. Born in Camden, NJ, Denny is the son of the late John C. and Catherine M. Erickson and was raised in the city's Cramer Hill section. He moved to Southampton with his family in 1969. Denny was a millwright /mechanic at the Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ for 30 years until his retirement in 1990. An avid outdoorsman, Denny enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and hunting and as a young man he hand-carved his own decoy rig and built several duck boats and was a veteran of the US Army. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jane (nee Heller), his daughter Denise and her husband James T. Bark of Westmont, NJ, daughter Janice and her husband Daniel J. Cirino Jr. of Atco, NJ, son John and his wife Susan of Woodland Twp., NJ, two Grandchildren Laurel Erickson and Daniel J. Cirino III and his brother Paul and his wife Glenda of Southampton, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 11:00 - 12:00 at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME 127 Medford Mt. Holly Rd. Emmel, John Joseph

John Joseph Emmel, 73, formerly of Avalon Manor, died on Thursday at his home in Fairhope, AL. Born in New York, he has lived in Fairhope for the last 3 years, coming from Avalon Manor. He was a Pipefitter and retired from United Assoc. of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local #322 after 20 years of service in 1992. He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict, 42 year member of the Coast Guard Auxilliary, and member of Maris Stella Church, Avalon, NJ.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine B. Emmel; sons: John F. "Jack" (Trish), Joseph "Joe" (Eun Young), and Rick (Angie); daughters: Donna (Dymtro) Wac, Carol (Ed) Monaghan, and Saron (Brad) Clark; 16 grandchildren: Eddie, Sharon (Joe), Mandy, Michelle, John A., Kerry, Kirk, Rachel, Kara, Gina, Sloan, Ricky, Becky, Maddie, Justin, and Zain; and great grandchildren: Cliffy and Liam.

Funeral Liturgy will be said 11:00 AM Thursday, April 29, 2004, at 11:00 AM at Maris Stella Church, 50th and Dune Dr., Avalon. Calling hour is Wednesday 7:00-9:00 PM at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Av., Cape May Court House, NJ. Memorials to Covenant Hospice, 6475 Van Buren St., Daphnie, AL 36526. Interment is private.

Ells, Jennie F.

ELLS, on November 16, 2001, Jennie F. (nee Rapp) of Marlton, formerly of Pennsauken. Age 91. She is the beloved wife of the late Anthony L. Ells. She is survived by her brother in law, William McNaul of Marlton, and her nieces and nephews, William I. McNaul, Debora J. Kritz, & Dorothy Lingle, all of Marlton and Richard Eustace of Maple Shade. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She is the aunt of the late Joan L. Eustace. Mrs. Ells was a retired Supervisor of Receiving for Sears and Roebuck in Camden NJ from the opening in 1927 until the closing in 1972. She was employed with the Moorestown Sears and Roebuck from 1972-1975, where she cut the ribbon at its opening in 1972. She was an active member of the Sears Retirement Club and a lifelong active member of Pennsauken United Methodist Church. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Monday from 10:00am –12 noon at the Bradley Funeral Home Rt. 73 and Evevsham Rd. Marlton (856) 983-1005 where a Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon. Interment Berlin cemetery, Berlin.
