Thomson, Emma F.

THOMSON, Emma F., 89 – of Swainton, beloved wife of the late Robert Y. Thomson, Sr., went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, April 25, 2011. She was born in Camden to Victor and Emma (nee Horay) Simonin. Emma and her husband raised their family in Camden County where she enjoyed working by her husband’s side in a family run business, ‘Thomson’s Bakery’, in Gloucester. They were active members of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church until their last move to Swainton. Emma and her husband were members of First Baptist Church of Cape May Court House where they team taught in the Sunday School Dept. and were leaders of an active seniors group. Emma volunteered in the library at the Cape Christian Academy after the passing of her husband in 1988. Her life’s goal was to be a loving Christian woman, wife and mother. She enjoyed being a seamstress and her family is blessed with many memories because of her lovely handwork.

Loving mother of Robert, Jr. (Tina); daughters, Isabella (Ralph) Stone of Medford, Elaine(Bob) Barndt of East Fallowfield, Pa., Ruth (Paul) Norton of Cape May Court House, and Barbara (Don) Frazeur of Woodbury. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and brothers Paul Simonin and Victor Simonin.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 101 Route 9 South, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emma's name to the Cape Christian Academy, 10 Oyster Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.

Shedloski, Elsie S.

Elsie S. Shedloski, 81, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011 at her home. Born in Philadelphia to the late Frank and Stephanie (Kamp) Wiengard, she moved here in 1985 from Camden. A member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, she was a teacher at Barrington, Swedesboro, and Audubon Park Public Schools. She also worked at Fairview Pharmacy and as a unit clerk at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed knitting.

Mrs. Shedloski is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Leon Shedloski; her daughters, Karen Makowski and Kathleen (husband Bruce) Shivers, both of Cape May Court House; her five grandchildren Christopher (wife Jennifer), Stephanie, and Ryan Shivers; Jennifer and Katie Makowski and their father Michael; and two great grandchildren, Jayci and Landon Shivers.

Funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery.

DeVico, Louis A.

Louis A. DeVico, 71, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Sea Isle City to the late Anthony and Emilia Millie (DelCorio) DeVico, he was a lifetime resident of this area. He was employed as produce manager at Superfresh in North Wildwood. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church in Cape May Court House and of the Loyal Order of Moose in North Wildwood. He liked the Eagles, fishing, and Florida. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on his lawn. He especially liked taking his sons to dinner and going to Dino's.

Mr. DeVico is survived by his wife, Diane (Mills) DeVico; his sons, Mark D. (Suzanne Simpkins) DeVico and David L. (Rebecca) DeVico; his brothers, Anthony DeVico, Jr., Samuel S. DeVico, and Frank DeVico; and his three grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith E. DeVico; his brother, John DeVico; and his sister, Jean Richter.

Funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Elizabeth's cemetery, Goshen. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Church or the Alzheimer's Association, South Jersey Regional Office, 3 Eves Drive, Suite 310, Marlton, NJ 08053-3431.

Giordano, Samuel C.

Samuel C. Giordano, age 80, of Shawcrest (Wildwood), NJ, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Dominic Giordano and the late Jennis Giordano. He moved to this area in 1978 from Philadelphia. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church of Cape May Court House and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Philadelphia.

He was retired from the Boeing Company Helicopter Division as a tool maker.

He is survived by his wife of almost sixty four years, Ruth M. nee Santella; his children: Samuel C, Jr. (Linda), Daniel M. (Maria), Dominic M., Ruth Marie Giordano, Arlene Giordano, Anthony F. (Monica), Joseph M., and John (Irena); his father: Dominic M.; two brothers: Dominic and Michael; a sister: Domenica DeCina; fifteen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Liturgy will be said on Monday, April 25, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, East Mechanic Street and Garden State Parkway, Cape May Court House, NJ, where relatives and friends may visit 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral Mass. Interment will be in St. John The Baptist cemetery, Shrewsbury Township, York County, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Turnier, Alan Warren

Alan Warren Turnier, also known as Butch or Butchie, age 65, of Avalon, died April 19, 2011. He was born in Philadelphia but lived in Avalon for most of his life. Alan was a long-time employee as an accountant at Salfi's Plumbing in Avalon, a member of the Church of Christ in Cape May Court House, an active member with the NJ Commission of The Blind, and a member and officer (chaplain) at the Masonic Lodge #104 in South Seaville. Alan was fun loving and enjoyed going to the auction, playing "Santa", and discussing family history.

He is survived by his sister Judy, brothers Walt, Lee, and John, and their children, his 5 nieces and 5 nephews, and the Chirico family of the Philadelphia area.

Memorial Services will be held at the Church of Christ, 102 East Pacific Avenue, Cape May Court House, on Saturday April 30, 2011 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Camp Manatawny through the CMCH Church of Christ. Any questions may be answered by calling the Radzieta Funeral Home at 609-465-7458.

Dantuono, Ralph M.

Ralph M. Dantuono, age 95, of Ocean View, NJ, died on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at his home. He was born in South Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Mark and Mildred D'Enno Dantuono.

As a young boy, he summered at the Calvary Seaside House in Stone Harbor sponsored by the Episcopal Church of Philadelphia. He had been an area resident since 1972 when he purchased a home in Stone Harbor.

He was a retired consultant for contract cleaning for First American Sugar, ITT and HGO.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tank commander under General George Patton and fought in the Battle of The Bulge; he also served in the Korean War.

Ralph was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Stone Harbor, NJ; volunteered for many years at the Cape Regional Medical Center formerly Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, and was a member of the Military Officers Association of America.

He is survived by his wife of over fifty four years, Janice nee Dent; a son, Marc H. (Kim) Dantuono; a daughter, Elisa N. Dantuono; a sister, Elaine McGeeney; four grandchildren: Ryan, Shane, Mikayla and Mitchell; a niece, Elaine Boris and a nephew, Mark McGeeney.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 95th Street and Third Avenue, Stone Harbor, NJ, where friends may visit at 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 95th St. and Third Ave., Stone Harbor, NJ 08247 or Animal Welfare Society of Cape May County, 40 Rt. 47 South, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.

Knight, Lou Emma

Lou Emma Knight, age 70 years, of Cape May Court House, departed this life and entered Eternity on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. She was affectionately called by her daughters; "Mumsy, Ms. Knight & Loulabelle".

She was born to the late Ruth & Willie Thomas in Marradica, VA on November 14, 1940. Lou attended Glenwood Avenue Elementary School & Wildwood High School where she was the second black majorette in the Wildwood High School Band. She also ran track (100 meters), married Robert W. Knight, Sr., (divorced) and out of this union four children were born.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters; Cheryl Roberts of Cape May Court House, NJ, Patricia Lee (Herbert) of Philadelphia, PA, Shawn Cooper (Coleman) of Cape May Court House, NJ & one step daughter Bobbi Knight of Burleigh, NJ, three sisters; Ulla Bostic (Allen) of Philadelphia, PA, Cornelia McNear (Claude) of Woodbine & Rose Brown of Penns Grove, four grandchildren; Charles R. Cooper, Colin K. Cooper, Charles L. Cooper, & Charise Cooper, and a host of relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends & home health caregivers. She was preceded in death by both parents, one son Robert W. Knight, Jr., a son-in-law Tyrone Roberts, a sister Mable Stewart and her brother Frank Thomas.

Funeral service 10:00 am, Saturday April 23, 2011 at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 60 Swainton-Goshen Road, Swainton, NJ where relatives and friends may call after 9:30 am. There is no review. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to: Hope Community Cancer Center, 210 Rt. 9 South, # 109, Marmora, NJ 08223-1271

DeLollis, Lucille M.

Lucille M. DeLollis, age 87, of Cape May Court House, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Lucille was born on April 26, 1923, in the Bronx section of New York City, NY. In 1945, while en route to California, she met her future husband, MM1 Lou DeLollis, who was returning home after serving in the U.S. Navy.

Lou and Lucille were married on July 10, 1946 and moved to Cape May County in the early 1950's. The were together for 64 years, until Mr. DeLollis passed away in 2010. Lucille held various positions for seventeen years at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1988.

She loved to quilt and was a long time member of South Shore Stitcher's of Tuckahoe, NJ, but her greatest pleasure was derived from spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Lucille is survived by her son, George (Marge) DeLollis of Cape May Court House; daughter, Carla (Joseph) Russo of Cape May Court House; daughter, Betty (Barry) Shapiro of Somers Point; six grandchildren: Chris (Christen) Poponak, Noah Poponak, Joseph Russo, Louis DeLollis, Leigh DeLollis, Mark Shapiro and one great grandson, Riley Poponak.

Funeral Liturgy will be said on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of The Angels Church, East Mechanic Street and Garden State Parkway, Cape May Court House, NJ, where friends may visit from 9:30 am to 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Cold Spriing Presbyterian cemetery, Cold Spring, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.

Gaskill, Betty E.

GASKILL, BETTY E., age 73, of Dias Creek, NJ, died on Saturday, April 16, 2011. She was born in Leesburg, VA the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Viola Legg Mattox. She had been an area resident since 1953.

Betty was a past president of the Green Creek Volunteer Fire Company Bingo; enjoyed drag racing, riding motorcycles, game shows and playing on the computer.

She is survived by her husband, William H.; two sons: William H., Jr. (Colleen) Gaskill; James H. (Cindy) Gaskill; a daughter, Betty Ann (Stewart) Rice; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial are private.

McGlone, Mary Ann

McGlone, Mary Ann, age 67, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Saturday, April 16, 2011. She was born in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of the late John and Angelina DeGregoria Ballezzi. She had lived in North Wildwood prior to moving here twenty years ago. She was a front line supervisor at the TJ MAXX store. She enjoyed reading, traveling when she could and most of all being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond J.; her children, Joseph (Donna) Deihl; Raymond (Kelly) McGlone; Jeffrey (Courtney) McGlone; Kimberly Ann (Pasquale) Mattia; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson; two nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by a son, John E. Deihl in 2009.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ followed by services at 2 p.m. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Grey, Andrew Dwyer

Andrew Dwyer Grey, age 48 years of Avalon, NJ formerly of Philadelphia, PA passed away suddenly on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Cape Regional Medical Center, Cape May Court House, NJ.

Andrew was born in Darby, PA, the son of Angelina (nee Simone) Grey and the late Andrew J. Grey (4/6/2011. He was an Electrical Engineer having work for L-3 Communications, Philadelphia. He is survived by his three sisters; Linda Ann (William) Franklin, Patricia Ann (Charles) Pizzichello and Donna Marie (John) Harr.

Funeral Mass and interment are private. Donations in his memory may be made to the Avalon Police Department, 3000 Dune Drive, Avalon, NJ 08202-1704

Daniels, Marjorie G.

Daniels, Marjorie G., 95 - of Cape May Court House passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Born in Burleigh to Harry and Ethel (formerly Stricker) McPherson, she is a lifelong local resident. She worked at the Cape May County Library and later as Principal Account Clerk for Crest Haven Nursing Home. She was a longtime and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Cape May Court House and enjoyed reading and travelling. She was predeceased by her husband Laurence in 1976 and also by her sister Gladys Osborne and brother Harry McPherson.

She is survived by her children: Julie (David) Bolinger and Jessie (Tom) Logan of Cape May Court House and son Dan (Kim) Daniels of Phillipsburg; and brother John (Della) MacPherson. She is also survived and dearly loved by her 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church, 1 Church Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
