HELEN B. KARPIE SCHULMEISTER of CHEESEQUAKE – died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. She was 82.
Born in Hazelton, PA, she resided in Newark and Cliffwood before moving to the Cheesequake section of Old Bridge 60 years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1987, she was a quality control inspector for Revlon in Edison for over 20 years. She was a communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Old Bridge.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 1997, and by a son, Louis in 1994.
Surviving are a son, David and his wife Kathy Schulmeister of Old Bridge; a daughter Linda of Matawan; a brother, Daniel Karpie of Holmdel; three grandchildren, Enjelica, Alison and Matthew; and a great grandson, Zachary.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9: 00 AM in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, followed by a 10: 00 AM service at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Old Bridge. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.

Elizabeth (Papai) Varsanyi, 83, of Edison, passed away, Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Care One at the Highlands, Edison.
Born in Hungary, she came to the United States in 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution, settling in Newark and then Edison. She was employed as an office worker with the Newark Board of Education for 25 years, retiring 30 years ago. She was a Red Cross volunteer in Prague, prior to coming to America. She loved reading and history; she was a wonderful cook and had an unconditional love for her family.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Julius Varsanyi in 1986; and her parents, Istvan and Rose Papai. Surviving are her children and their spouses; Zoltan and Nancy Varsanyi of Matawan; Peter and Karen Varsanyi of Washington, D.C.; and Thomas and Maggie Varsanyi of Edison; a brother, Istvan Papai of Australia; six grandchildren, Veronica, Peter, Kristina, Steven, Christopher and Meredith; and three great grandchildren.

Jack P.Triolo, 78, of Matawan, passed away, Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Born in Brooklyn, to Frank and Jenny Triolo, he resided in Red Bank, graduating from Red Bank High School, before moving to Matawan, 54 years ago. He was employed as a construction technician with HNTB Engineering, Wayne, for over 20 years; and worked at St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel, for 12 years. He was a communicant of St. Clement RC Church, Matawan, and also an usher as a Holy Name member of St. Clement. He was past captain, trustee, president and member with the Matawan First Aid Squad for over 35 years. He loved the Rangers, Yankees and Giants. He was past coach of Babe Ruth Teams; Matawan Braves and Matawan Hawks. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1951 to 1953, as a Corporal; 25th Division 64F.A. “A” Battalion; Chief of Section of 105MM How, with 15 crewman under him, where he received the Good Conduct Ribbon, Unit Service Ribbon with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, the NJ Distinguished Service Ribbon, the Korean Service Ribbon, the UN Service Ribbon; and the President Service Ribbon with Three Stars.
Surviving is his wife, of 54 years, Frances Artelli Triolo; three sons, Frank Triolo of Belmar; Jack Triolo, Jr. of Matawan and Joseph Triolo and his wife, Denise of Old Bridge; and two grandchildren, Chelsea and Andre.

Rowland S. Seckinger, 71, of Keyport, NJ, passed away, Monday, February 9, 2009, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Rowland was born in Savannah, GA, and although he moved a few times in his life, Wilkes-Barre, PA for 6 years; Nyack, NY for 10 years and Keyport, 19 years, his heart never strayed far from his southern birth place. Rowland was an Eagle Scout, Benedictine Military Academy (GA) graduate and United States Air Force and Marine peacetime veteran. He attended Armstrong State College in Savannah, GA, and later received his MBA from King’s College in Pennsylvania. He started working at American Cyanamid Company in Savannah, GA, as a young man and served at two other locations for 16 years, before transferring to Bound Brook, NJ, for 10 years, and eventually retired in 2000, concluding a 43 year career. Rowland was an avid and tireless volunteer, including Boy Scouts of America; Explorer Post founder and leader; American Red Cross; EMT; Solomon Lodge Mason (Grand Commandery Knight Templar of Georgia; York Rite Bodes of Free Masonry Georgia charter of Palestine Commandery No 7; Georgia Chapter No. 3 Royal Arch Masons); reserve member Keyport Fire Department, Lincoln Hose Company; treasurer Keyport Fire Museum; Keyport Environmental Commissioner; treasurer Twin Lights Historical Society (Outstanding Volunteer recognition 2005), the Shriners of North America/Alee Temple Shriners; and International Association of Machinists. Rowland never met a stranger, lived to tell stories, and loved the sea.
Rowland was predeceased by his parents, Rowland Burroughs Seckinger, Jr. and Elnora Sturtevant Seckinger. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Locke Seckinger; his children, Alison, Lorraine Crapse; Lenora Sturtevant Mesibov; Rowland Bishop Seckinger; Gregory William Brooks; and Karin Annette Sellite; two sisters, Barbara Seckinger Wall and Joan Seckinger Martin; and 19 grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited Saturday, 2-4 PM, for a memorial gathering, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. Cremation was private. Burial of Cremains will take place in Savannah, GA, February 18, 2009, Laurel Grove Cemetery at 11AM. The service will be followed by a celebration of Rowland’s life at Kevin Barry’s on River Street, Savannah, at 1PM.

Frederick “Curly” J. Della Pietro, 85, of West Keansburg, passed away, Sunday, February 8, 2009, at home.
He was born in Matawan. Fred was employed as a machine operator with Atco Tile, Keyport, then as a heavy equipment operator with the Hazlet Twp. Road Department; and then became owner of Curly and Sons Clean-Up, before retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Ann RC Church, Keansburg. He served his country in the Army during WWII.
Fred was predeceased by his wife, Alberta R. Comerford, in March 2008. Surviving are his children, Frederick Della Pietro, Jr. and his wife, Pat, of Keansburg; Grace Wiggett of Hazlet and Thomas Della Pietro of Hazlet and his girlfriend, Chris; four grandchildren, Carrie, Justin, Jimmy and Kim; four great grandchildren, Jack Jr.; Joseph; Alyssa and Evan; and his dog, Harley.

Thomas J. Dougan,Sr. 67, of Union Beach, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009, at home.
Born in Birmham, England, he resided in Upper Manhattan, before moving to Union Beach 36 years ago. He was employed as a chief engineer with Sovereign Hotel, Manhattan; then as a carpenter and engineer with NY Eye and Ear Infirmary, 14th and 2nd Aves., Manhattan; and a mail handler with the GMF Post Office, Eatontown, for 24 years. He was a communicant of Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach; a former member of the Union Beach Board of Health; former youth soccer coach and founding member of the Soccer League with Hazlet and Union Beach; and the first and second vice-president of the Irish Federation of Monmouth County. He served his country in the Army during Vietnam.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Thomas L. and Margaret Small Dougan. Surviving is his wife, Rosaleen Walsh Dougan; his children and their spouses, Thomas J. and Dawn Dougan, Jr. of Hazlet; Christopher and Winifred Dougan; Rosaleen and Brendan Greene; and Peter and Patricia Dougan, all of Union Beach; a sister, Kathleen Boltan of England; and 14 grandchildren.

William T. Armington Sr. 77 of Cliffwood Beach died on Sunday Feb. 8, 2009 at the Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Born in Bayonne, he moved to Cliffwood Beach 65 years ago. William was served in the Navy on the USS Fulton AS-11and then after being Honorable discharged he began a 20 years of service with the Island Seabee’s of Red Bank and was a Lifetime Island member X1. He was a Line Chief for Jersey Central Power & Light, Old Bridge for 40years retiring in 1992. Mr. Armington was also a member of the Lions Club of Laurence Harbor, a lifetime member of the USS Fulton AS-11, a Little League and Soccer coach, Laurence Harbor, a Scout Leader for the Laurence Harbor and Cliffwood Beach Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and he was Santa Claus for all the local area organizations for the past 40 years. He loved his beloved cat Butterball.
Surviving is his wife Doris(Demgard) Armington, his daughters Cheryl Armington of St. John, IN, Patricia and her husband Kevin Gleason of Lanoka Harbor, and a son William T. Jr. and his wife Laura of Griffith, ID, a sister Louise Colucci of Denville and 5 grandchildren Andreas Pergher, Alison, Kevin Jr. and Caitlin Gleason and Megan Matusik.

Carroll Woolf, 92, of Cliffwood Beach/Aberdeen, passed away, Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel.
Born in Sparkill, NY, he resided in Cliffwood Beach for the past 80 years. He was employed as a security guard with Investigative Services, Inc., Sea Girt, before retiring in 1993. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He was a member of the St. Joseph Knights of Columbus and the Cliffwood VFW.
Carroll is survived by six nieces and nephews; and 23 great nieces and nephews.

Theresa Gallopo, 86, of Keyport, passed away, Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Born in College Point, NY, she resided in Union Beach, before moving to Keyport. She was a homemaker and a communicant of Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach. Theresa liked to bowl and play bingo.
Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Gallopo, in 1995; her parents, John and Theresa Schoudernicker Lulay; and a daughter, Cheryl DeFazio. Albert Rosato, 85, of Keyport, passed away, Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Bayshore Health Care, Holmdel.
Born in Cliffwood, he resided most of his life in Keyport. He worked at Atco Tile, Keyport, for 25 years; then as an automotive machinist with Matty’s Auto Parts for 40 years, before retiring in May 2008. He was a communicant of St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport; a life member over 50 years with the Keyport Hook and Ladder Fire Company; and life member and past commander with the VFW #4247, Keyport; a member of the Joe Pettinato Bowling League and the Sunday Mixed Masters League. Al served his country in the Army during WWII.
Albert was predeceased by his wife, Stella Raskyasky Rosato in 1988; his parents, Daniel and Adelaida Pellegrino Rosato; and a sister, Jennie Sardella. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Julius and Maryanne Rosato of Keyport; Theresa and Louis Natarcola of Keyport; Mary Ann and Brian Provini of Atlantic Highlands; Diane Rosato and Thomas Swift of Keyport; and Antoinette and Paul V. Mary E. Hrabosky, 89, of Union Beach, passed away, Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Newark. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a parishioner with Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach; and an avid bingo player.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, John J. Hrabosky, Sr.; her parents, Richard and Margaret Ryan Duffy; a son, Richard M. Hrabosky; two sisters, Loretta Duffy and Anna Zelonis; and a great grandson, Brandon Hrabosky. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Catherine and Mitchell Shade of Union Beach; John J. Hrabosky, Jr. of Union Beach, with whom she lived; and Mary and Roger Peterson of Brick; a daughter-in-law, Charlene Hrabosky of Toms River; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
