Atwood, Melville S.
Melville S. Atwood, IV, 68, of Cape May Court House, died on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. Born in Philadelphia to the late Melville S. and Margaret Mary (Maguire) Atwood, III, he lived in Cape May Court House over 20 years after living in Stone Harbor. He was formerly the Director of Human Services for North Wildwood.
Mr. Atwood was a member of the Stone Harbor Firefighters Association, the Lions Club of Stone Harbor, and the Krewe of Endymion. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed baseball and high school and college basketball. He was big fan of the Phillies and Eagles.
Mr. Atwood is survived by his sons, Melville S. Atwood, V and Tim Atwood; his sister, Rosali Mirzayan; his brother, John Atwood, his granddaughter, Victoria Atwood; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Hahnemann University Hospital, 230 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
Mixner, Dorothy A.
Mixner, Dorothy A., 92 - of Stone Harbor passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. A lifelong resident of Stone Harbor, she graduated Stone Harbor Elementary and Middle Township High School in 1936. In 1940 she married Ellis A. Mixner who predeceased her in 1992. As an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, she served on Church Council, Alter Committee, and as financial secretary for many years. She was a Past Matron and life member of Arbutus Chapter No. 118, Order of the Eastern Star - Worthy Matron - 1952-53. She was a member of the Wildwood Golf and Country Club and was one of the first volunteers at Burdette Tomlin Hospital when it opened. Dorothy worked as secretary of the Stone Harbor Board of Education for 12 years.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Frank (Renee) Mixner of Virginia Beach, VA, Suzanne Stanford of Stone Harbor, and Stephen (Donna) Mixner of Stone Harbor; grandchildren: Roger (Allison) Stanford, Lauren (Craig) Otton, Michele (Chris) Dewitt, Meredith (Jeremy) Moore, Claire (Michael) Volpe, Lisa Mixner, and Jillian Mixner; and great grandchildren: Chelsea, Josh, Kyle, Cody, Emma, Brighton, Raleigh, and Anderson.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 289 92nd St., Stone Harbor, NJ 08247. Interment is at Fairview cemetery in Cape May Court House. Donations may be made in Dorothy's name to Our Saviour Lutheran Church - Grow With Us Campaign, at the same address.
Franz-Sovay, Rose Doris "Dolly"
Franz-Sovay, Rose Doris (Dolly), 93 - of Ocean City passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011. Dolly was born in Orange, NJ to John and Rose (formerly Martine) Frantz. She became a resident of Avalon in 1950 and worked as Treasurer for the Borough of Stone Harbor and Avalon for 25 years before retiring in 1977. She was a courageous and inspirational person who thought of others above herself. She is survived by various cousins.
A Memorial Mass will held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Maris Stella Church, 5012 Dune Drive, Avalon, NJ 08202. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Maris Stella Church and the American Heart Association, 1 Union St. #301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
Cadden, John V.

Cadden, John Vincent, 87 - of Avalon, NJ died August 16, 2011 after a brief illness.
John was born in Morristown, NJ and attended Assumption School and Bayley High School. He spent his childhood summers in Watch Hill, RI, the source of his lifelong love of the ocean.
In 1942 John enlisted in the Army and served as a technical sergeant in the Eighth Air Corps, 445th Bomber Group. He flew 19 bombing missions out of Tibenham, England and was one of the few survivors of the Kassel Mission, which earned him a Purple Heart and the NJ Distinguished Service Medal.
John graduated from Villanova University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and from Stevens Institute of Technology with an MBA. He enjoyed a 40 year career in the utilities industry.
In 1953 John married his wife Eileen Patricia; they settled in Morris Plains where they raised their three children. In 1989 he retired to Avalon, NJ and Palm Harbor, FL.
John was predeceased by his siblings Peter, Rita Bond and Pauline Doody. He is survived by his beloved wife Eileen Patricia; daughters Linda Gibson (David) and Colleen Ginna(William); son Jack (Jeanne) and granddaughters Casey and Colleen.
Services are private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Kassel Mission Historical Society, www.kasselmission.com.
Colasanti, Carol A.
Colasanti, Carol A., 63 - of Goshen passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011. Born in Brooklyn to Edward and Margaret (formerly Keene) Slack, she moved to the area in 1973. She worked is a Human Services Aide at the Ocean Academy School and was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star - Cape May Chapter #156.
She is survived by her husband Vince; children: Diane (Harold) Patterson, Vincent (Jessica) Colasanti, Cristina (Shannon) McKenney; grandsons Jason and Donald Patterson; her father Edward Slack; brother Robert (Ann) Slack; sisters Margaret (Robert) Szulwach and Natalie Moore; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 6 p.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Interment is private. Lindholm, Patricia A.
Lindholm, Patricia A., 63 - of Rio Grande passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. She was born in Camden to Elmer and Irene (formerly Maxwell) Lindholm. After college she went from being a Woodstock hippie to being a successful executive for Verizon in Manhattan, NY. She moved to this area in 2004. She had a heart of gold and loved her family, dogs, and many friends.
Pat is survived by her father, Elmer; brother Martin (Pat) Lindholm; sister Carol Medernach of Florida; as well as 8 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Irene, brother Keith ('Bubby'), and sister Nancy Lindholm.

Beaman Jr., James R., 59 - of Rio Grande passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at his home. Born in New York to James and Lois Beaman, he served in the US Navy and later worked for the City of Wildwood Crest and Urie's Restaurant. He loved time with his family as well as sports, music, and dancing. He was involved with different charities for cancer research, Disabled Veterans, and the Humane Society.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Williams Beaman; his sons James (Lisa) Beaman III and Alexander (Angelina) Beaman; grandchildren: Elysia, Giovanni, and Janessa Beaman, and Sean Day; sisters: Dorothy Beaman, Gloria Jackson, Gwendolyn Jackson, and Debra Jackson; and a host of Nieces, nephews, and adopted grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 1 pm at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 12 noon. Interment will be in Cape May County Veterans cemetery.
McGovern, Edward Andrew

On Wednesday, July 27th, Edward Andrew McGovern passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Born October 13, 1928 in Rockledge, PA to Agnes (McHoul) and Charles McGovern, Ed was raised and made his roots in Philadelphia. He spent his childhood in the Kensington area of the city, where he made many of his lifelong friends. After high school, Ed proudly served in the Army in the Korean War. He later became self-employed as the owner and President of U.S. Veal Corporation, a successful Philadelphia wholesale meat distributor. He, along with his closest friends, served their community proudly as members of the 24th Ward United Republican Club, for which Ed served as President.
married to his wife Rose for 43 years, Ed raised his family first in Northeast Philly, and later in Glenside, PA, where he pursued his passion for golf at North Hills Country Club. Later, he was active at the Wildwood Golf and Country Club, where he could always be counted on for a kind word, a friendly smile, and good humor, on and off the course. In 1976, Ed & Rose purchased their home in Sea Isle City, where they summered every year until permanently retiring here in 2000. Ed was active in the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City for over 30 years, serving as Commodore in 1982. It was here in Sea Isle where Ed formed many of his long lasting memories with family and friends. Later, he also joined and was an active member of the Italian-American Club in Sea Isle. Ed was well known in every facet of the community as a very loyal friend and family man. He was caring and ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Ed is survived by his wife Rose (nee Russo), daughter Caroline (John) McCarus, son Edward, Jr., and grandchildren Emma, Andrew, Alexa and Audrey. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Blob, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be said on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 44th Street and Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City. Viewing will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery.
Zane, Ada M.
Zane, Ada M., 91 - of Cape May Court House passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011. Born in Pleasantville to Warren and Elizabeth Bradley, she lived most of her life in Swedesboro where she and her husband owned the Kingsway Motor Company. She later moved to Strathmere and then Court House in 2000. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2002.
Ada is survived by her sons Richard and Larry Zane of Cape May Court House; her brother Raymond Bradley of Texas; grandchildren Leslie Reyes and Bradley Zane; and great grandchildren Rebecca, Hayden, Emily, and Sean.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Graveside Service and interment will immediately follow at the Cape May County Veterans cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ada's name to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road - Suite 100 Philadelphia, PA 19004.
McNear, Cornelia A.
McNear, Cornelia A., 73 - of Woodbine passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011. She was born in Mollusk, VA to Willie Thomas and Ruth Forman and later moved to the area and attended Wildwood High School. She worked at the Woodbine Developmental Center for over 30 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodbine.
She is survived by her husband, Claude McNear, Jr.; her children: Jocelyn Loreen McNear, Cary Brent McNear, and Corey Gene Jeffers; her sisters Ulla Bostic and Rose Brown; grandchildren: Corey Gene Jeffers, Marquis Greer, Jaylin and Devonte Gomez, and Lenoni and Karilyn McNear; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodbine, Longfellow and Adams Streets, Woodbine, NJ 08270. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Woodbine cemetery.
Broughton, Terry Lee
Terry Lee Broughton, 32, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011. He was born in Panama City, Panama and graduated from Middle Township High School. He enjoyed boxing, poetry, and drawing.
Terry is survived by his wife, Shernette N. Francis; his mother, Lidia Smith, his father, James Broughton, his children, Quinette Jones, Rashud Schaeffer, and Natasha Quinnones; and his eight siblings, Ricardo Phillips, Juan Phillips, Sylvia Phillips, Marta Thomas, Jaime Smith, Tracy Smith, Timmy Broughton, and Tremaine Broughton.
