Leo Kelin
Leo Kelin, 83, of West Orange died March 6 in East Orange General Hospital.
Mr. Kelin was a certified public accountant. He owned and operated the Leo Kelin CPA Agency in Union for 50 years before retiring 10 years ago.
He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rutgers University in Newark.
Mr. Kelin taught bridge classes to senior citizens at the Jewish Community Center in West Orange for 12 years.
Born in the Bronx, he lived in Hillside for 34 years before moving to West Orange 12 years ago.
Surviving are sons, Stephen, Robert, Richard and Alan; a brother, Seymour, and nine grandchildren.
Josephine Rothstein
Josephine Rothstein, 97, of West Orange, died March 6 in the Daughters of Israel Geriatric Center.
Mrs. Rothstein was born in Newark and lived in Hillside and North Miami Beach, Fla., before moving to West Orange six years ago.
Surviving are daughters, Fern Franco, Mimi Nichter and Lynda Boroff; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jem H. Boyle
Jem H. Boyle, 78, of Lincoln Park died March 5 at home.
Mrs. Boyle was an executive secretary at the Inmont Chemical Co., Clifton, for more than 30 years before retiring in 1990.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she lived in West Orange from 1958 until moving to Lincoln Park three years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Samuel; a son, Robert; a daughter, Anne Macioci; a brother, William McEwan, and four grandchildren.
Lillian Duprat
Lillian Duprat, 86, died March 5 in the Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Born in West Orange, Ms. Duprat lived in East Hanover and Crestwood before moving to Whiting.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Carlos; a son, Art; a daughter, Carolyn Melbourne; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Martin J. Hartigan
Martin J. Hartigan Jr., 72, died on March 5 at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge.
Mr. Hartigan was born in Montclair before moving to West Orange in 1963.
He worked as a computer technician for New Jersey Bell before retiring in 1986. Mr. Hartigan also worked as a maintenance technician for the township of West Orange for five years.
Mr. Haritgan served in the U.S. Navy for eight years. He served during the Korean War aboard the USS Irwin from 1950 to 1953 where he earned two medals of good conduct. Mr. Haritgan was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Organization of America. He was also a member of Local 827-International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of America.
James Edwin Neill
James Edwin Neill, 62, of West Orange, died March 5 in St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston.
Mr. Neill was a real estate property manager for Marzulli and Co., Bloomfield, where he worked for three years. Previously, he was a location manager for Universal Studio and Dick Wolfe Production for six years.
A Navy veteran, he served during the Bay of Pigs Conflict and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a volunteer with the West Orange High School Marching Band Music Boosters and Pit Crew for six years.
Born in Detroit, he lived in South Orange for three years before moving to West Orange 19 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Susan; daughters, Meredith and Amanda, and a sister, Nancy Hoaglund.
Robert James Distante
Robert James Distante, 63, died March 4 in Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge. Mr. Distante was a truck driver for Tropicana Freight in Kearny and Jersey City.
Born in the Bronx, he lived in West Orange since 1975.
Surviving are a son, Robert; a daughter, Diane Cromwell, and two grandchildren.
Mildred Julian Reynolds
Mrs. Mildred Julian Reynolds, 97, of Maplewood died Feb. 25 in Overlook Hospital, Summit. She was a teacher at Mount Carmel Parochial School, Orange, for eight years before retiring in 1987. Previously, she was a teacher in the West Orange school system for 36 years.
After retirement, she was a remedial writing tutor at Bloomfield College for a few years.
She was a 1955 graduate of New Jersey State Teachers College.
Born in Newark, she lived in South Orange and East Orange before moving to Maplewood eight months ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy Green; sisters, Rose Julian and Helen Waterbor; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Sarah Murray
Mrs. Sarah Murray, 94, of West Orange died Feb. 24 in Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. She was a secretary at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange for 16 years before retiring 29 years ago.
Born in East Orange, she moved to West Orange many years ago.
Surviving are daughters, Patricia Terplivetz and Shelia Skorec; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Audrey Rosania
Mrs. Audrey Rosania, 77, of Loganville, Ga., a former New Jersey resident, died Feb. 24 in the Southern Plantation Assisted Living, Loganville.
She was an executive secretary with New York Life Insurance Co., East Orange, before retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Rosania taught religion classes at St. John the Evangelist Church.
Born in Orange, she lived in West Orange and Lakewood before moving to Loganville.
Surviving are sons, Frank and Richard; sisters, Edna Beboey and Joan Muck, and a grandchild.
William Hegel
William M. Hegel, 50, of Linden died June 3 in the Cranford Health and Extended Care, Cranford.
Born in Newark, Mr. Hegel lived in Edison and Fanwood before moving to Linden in 1997. He was a senior clinical social worker at Fair Oaks Hospital, Summit. Mr. Hegel received a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University.
Surviving are his mother, Nancy McNair, and a sister, Cynthia Medlin.

Irene Chach, 83, of Linden died June 5 in the Delaire Nursing home, Linden.
Born in Elizabeth, Mrs. Chach lived in Linden for 48 years. She was an assembly line worker for Distillers Unlimited, Linden, formerly Gordon’s Gin, for more than 30 years before retiring in 1991.
Bob Eagan
Bob J. Eagan, 43, of Rahway died June 5 at home.
Born in Perth Amboy, Mr. Eagan lived in Rahway for most of his life. He was a research chemical operator with Merck & Co., Rahway, for 18 years. Mr. Eagan was a member of the Carteret Elks Lodge 2235.
Surviving are a brother, Lloyd, and a sister, Kathi Bragdon.
Walter Steggles
Walter E. Steggles, 94, of Westfield, formerly of Linden, died June 3 in Union Hospital.
Born in Bridgeport, Conn., Mr. Steggles lived in Linden for 50 years before moving to Westfield three years ago. He was a tool and die maker with American Flange Co., Linden, for 10 years before retiring in the early 1970s. Previously, Mr. Steggles worked for Singer Manufacturing, Elizabeth.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda O’Sullivan and Brenda Bicki; a son, David, and a grandchild.
Mary Data
Mary Data, 94, of Linden, formerly of Elizabeth, died June 4 in Trinitas Hospital, Elizabeth.
Born in Wolasinkowa, Poland, Mrs. Data came to Elizabeth in 1925 and moved to Linden four years ago. She was a seamstress for Simmons Co., Linden, for 43 years before retiring in 1974.
Surviving are a son, Thaddeus; a brother, Edward Mindur; a sister, Sophie Balandis, and two grandchildren.
Robert Brazil
Robert L. Brazil, 77, of Roselle, a lifelong resident of Roselle, boxing champion in Elizabeth, died June 7 in the Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care Center at East Orange.
Mr. Brazil was a mechanic at McDonald Pontiac Automobile Co., Summit, for several years. Later, he was a horse riding instructor and trainer for many years at the Windmill Farms Horseback Riding Academy, Green Village. Several of Mr. Brazil’s students participated in the Olympic equestrian competitions. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. Mr. Brazil was a member of the usher board at Heard AME Church, Roselle. He also was a member of the Elizabeth Recreation Boxing Team as a young man, and in 1950, won the Golden Gloves Boxing Championship.
Surviving are two daughters, Antionette McCray and Kartina Shorter; a brother, James; three sisters, Hazel Bagley, Julia Stout and Lillian Crawley; two grandchildren, and his companion, Arlene Harvey.
Theresa McGann
Theresa M. McGann, 80, of Linden died June 3 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway.
Born in Elizabeth, Miss McGann moved to Linden in 1930 and then to Westfield for several years before returning to Linden many years ago. She was a clerk/typist for the Union County Board of Social Services, Elizabeth, for 13 years before retiring in 1988.
John Wright
John T. Wright, 65, of Linden, formerly of Roselle, died June 1 in Trinitas Hospital, Elizabeth.
Born in Chicasaw, Miss., Mr. Wright lived in Roselle for many years before moving to Linden 10 years ago. He was a self-employed carpenter in the Union County area for 20 years. Previously, Mr. Wright worked as a construction laborer at Interface Lock Joint Pipe Co., East Brunswick, for 10 years.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Jean; a son, Darren; seven daughters, Etherine Hunter, Catherine Powell, Lisa Smith, Annie and Diane Wright, Nikkie and Kimberly Williams; two brothers, Neri and Willie; three sisters, Lounett Robenson, Clara Carr and Gloria Wright; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
