Isabel Bella
Mrs. Isabel Bella, 80, of Highlands died March 10 in the Atlantic Highlands Nursing Home, Middletown.
Born in Newark, she lived in Bloomfield before moving to Highlands in 1994.
Mrs. Bella was a photo processor for Broadway Photo in West Caldwell before retiring in 1986. Previously, she was an assembler with the Tung-Sol Corp. in Bloomfield.
Surviving are a son, Ralph; a daughter, Mildred Van Wagner; a stepsister, Barbara Isletts; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Richard N. Frissell
Richard N. Frissell, 58, of Bloomfield died March 11 in Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge.
Born in Sandusky, Ohio, he lived in Elmira, Syracuse, West Orange and Rutherford before moving to Bloomfield three years ago.
Mr. Frissell was the supervisor of fine arts for the Bloomfield school system for three years. Previously, he held the same position at Rutherford High School for 17 years.
He was a Eucharistic minister and team member of the Cornerstone Retreat at St. Thomas Church.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Art Administrators of New Jersey and the New Jersey Music Educators Association.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Marie; a son, Nathaniel; a daughter, Elaina; and his mother, Mary Frissell.
Dolores Liantonio
Miss Dolores Liantonio, 63, of Cedar Grove died March 12 in Cedar Hill Health Care Center, Cedar Grove.
Born in East Orange, she lived in Bloomfield before moving to Cedar Grove three years ago.
Surviving are brothers, Anthony and Thomas; and sisters, Ann Russo, Mary Pedalino and Julia Lorenzetti.
Henry Carl Bette
Henry Carl Bette, 71, of Nokomis, Fla., died March 12 at home.
Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Bloomfield and St. Petersburg before moving to Nokomis in 1997.
Mr. Bette was a manufacturing engineer for Westinghouse Corp. in Bloomfield and Tampa, Fla. for 33 years before retiring in 1993.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Englewood, the American Legion No-Vel Post 159 of Venice and the Marine Air Traffic Controllers Association.
Surviving are Irene, his wife of 46 years; and a brother, James R.
Joseph Stanley Sass
Joseph Stanley Sass, 95, of Brick Township died March 12 in Shorrock Gardens Care Center, Brick Township.
Born in Bloomfield, he lived in Nutley before moving to Brick.
Mr. Sass was a press operator and machinist at the A.P. Smith Manufacturing Co. in East Orange, for 30 years before retiring 30 years ago.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Surviving is a brother, John; and sisters, Veronica Kopacz and Victoria Puzzutti.
V. Seeley Romaine
V. Seeley Romaine, 80, of Bay Head died on March 15 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Born in Rumson, he lived in Glen Ridge before moving to Bay Head 20 years ago.
Mr. Romaine was an attorney in Brick and Montclair for 52 years.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Recently, he served on the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Department of Homeland Security.
Mr. Romaine was a former councilman of the Boro of Glen Ridge and was on the Bay Head Planning Board.
He attended the Glen Ridge Congregational Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marianne; sons, Rob and Van Romaine, and Don and Rick Allen; daughters, Holly Allen Blanchet, Julie McBratney and Susan Allen-Gil; and 20 grandchildren.
Angelo Darpino
Angelo Darpino, 59, of Bloomfield died March 14 in Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains
A Newark native, he moved to Bloomfield eight years ago.
Mr. Darpino was a self-employed food vendor in north Jersey.
Surviving are a son, Anthony; brothers, Ambrose, Michael, Vincent and Daniel Darpino, and Peter Muccheillo Jr.; and sisters, Anna Maria Gesumaria, Mildred Vetter and Tonia McCoy.
Anna Craig
Mrs. Anna Craig, 86, of Bloomfield died March 16 in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.
Born in Newark, she lived in Belleville before moving to Bloomfield 30 years ago.
Surviving are daughters, Rosanne Jacoby, Patricia Caruso and Linda Bertuglia; a son, Robert; a sister, Kay Belcher; and seven grandchildren.
Catherine Mecca
Mrs. Catherine Mecca, 94, of Sebring, Fla., formerly of New Jersey, died March 15 in the Hospice Care Center, Brooksville.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Bloomfield, before moving to Sebring 14 years ago.
Mrs. Mecca was an executive secretary at ITT Corp. in Nutley, before retiring many years ago.
Eileen Beretta
Mrs. Eileen Beretta, 77, of Ringwood died March 15 in Ringwood.
Born in Belleville, she lived in Bloomfield before moving to Ringwood six years ago.
Mrs. Beretta was a customer service representative for AT&T in West Orange, where she worked for 20 years before retiring in 1985.
Surviving are daughters, Theresa Verdone, Janice Kelley and Laura Nilssen; a son, Paul; brothers, Edward, Richard and Frank Matt; and nine grandchildren.
Neil Philipson
Neil Philipson, 56, of Bloomfield died March 16 at home.
Born in Scranton, Pa., he lived in Kingston, Pa., before moving to Bloomfield 17 years ago.
Mr. Philipson was an associate director with ABC World News Tonight in New York City and for various ABC news programs in a career that spanned more than 30 years.
He was the recipient of two Emmy Awards, one for Outstanding Individual achievement in 1981 and the other for a news special “America Held Hostage: The Secret Negotiations.” Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Jane; a daughter, Kate; and a sister, Linda Rudnitski.
Carmella Galeano
Carmella Galeano, 90, of Berkeley Heights, formerly of Summit, died Feb. 15 in Overlook Hospital, Summit.
Born in Summit, Mrs. Galeano lived there for 87 years before moving to Berkeley Heights three years ago.
Surviving is a sister, Mary Stuppi.
Gerald Youngman
Gerald Youngman, 79, of Summit died Feb. 15 at home.
Born in Plainfield, Mr. Youngman lived in Summit for many years. He was president of North East Structure Inc. of the Mutual Benefit Insurance Co. before retiring. Mr. Youngman previously was a life insurance underwriter and, in 1985, was named the Underwriter of the Year. He was a 1949 graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts and served as president of its alumni association.
Mr. Youngman was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was an aerial gunner and petty officer serving in the South Pacific. Mr. Youngman was president of the Montclair Kimberly Academy Alumni Association. He was an elder and Sunday school teacher at Central Presbyterian Church and a 40-year member of the Canoe Brook Country Club, both in Summit.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Nancy; two daughters, Linda Anderson and Gretchen Hurley; a son, Gerald Jr.; a sister, Cynthia Adams, and eight grandchildren.
Marion Meierdierck
Marion A. Meierdierck, 79, of Springfield died Feb. 18 in the Avon Meath Center in Connecticut.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Meierdierck lived in Springfield for 47 years. She was employed at Prudential Insurance Co., Newark, and at Overlook Hospital, Summit, before retiring.
Surviving are two sons, John and Peter; a daughter, Nancy Hayes; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Bernice Wnek
Bernice Emily Wnek, 79, of Springfield died Feb. 19 at home.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Wnek moved to Springfield 51 years ago. She was a registered nurse. Mrs. Wnek was employed in the Irvington school system, where she was a part-time substitute school nurse for eight years before retiring 18 years ago.
Before that, she was an operating room nurse at the Jersey City Medical Center. Mrs. Wnek was a graduate of Jersey City Medical Center and a member of its alumni association.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley; two sons, Richard and James; four daughters, Susan Stephens, Judy Puopolo, Patricia Nizalowski and Karen; a sister, Wanda Gorny; 14 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
