Frances McCallum
Frances McCallum, 90, of Irvington died Jan. 17 at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark.
Miss McCallum was an active member in religious circles.
She was one of the founders of St. Paul the Apostle Church, now known as the Good Shepherd Church, in Irvington. She was a past president of the Rosary Society at St. Paul’s where she started the cake sales.
She was an active member in the Church Women United, Catholic Daughters of Maplewood Columbiettes, Friendship Club and the Fatima Rosary Society.
Miss McCalum lived in Irvington most of her life. A birthday memorial Mass will be celebrated on March 26 at 9 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Church in Irvington in her honor.
Robert P. Huber
Robert P. Huber, 82, of Irvington died Feb. 23 in St. Michaels Medical Center, Newark. He was an accountant for 43 years with the Schlumberger Corp., Newark, before retiring in 1989.
He was a corporal in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving from 1942 to 1946. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and Air medals.
Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington for 47 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen S. Slagle; a brother, Walter J., and three grandchildren.
Helen J. Huber
Mrs. Helen J. Huber, 81, of Irvington died Feb. 26 in Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She was born in Newark and lived in Irvington for 47 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen S. Slagle; brothers, Walter J. and Stanley Plonka, and three grandchildren.
Michael L. Capizzano
Michael L. Capizzano Sr., 86, of Union died Feb. 25 in Overlook Hospital, Summit.
He was a supervisor with Stokes Co., Clark, before retiring 26 years ago. Prior to that, he was a supervisor with Goodman & Sons, Kearny, and a finishing supervisor for the Moldcast Co. in Newark. He also worked as a part-time starter at the Galloping Hill Golf Course, Union, for 15 years.
Mr. Capizzano was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4504, Union, and the Union Township Senior Citizens Club.
Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington before moving to Union 46 years ago.
Surviving are a son, Ron; sisters, Yolanda Corcia and Dolly Buraty; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bernard C. Dennis
Bernard C. Dennis, 82, of Parsippany died Feb. 26 at home. He worked at Norda Flavors and Fragrances in New York City and East Hanover for 42 years before retiring as the vice president of purchasing 24 years ago.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Dennis earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Seton Hall University, South Orange.
Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington and East Orange before moving to Parsippany 51 years ago.
Surviving are Mary, his wife of 58 years; sons, Christopher and Douglas; daughters, Mary Kay Ivory, Elizabeth Dennis, Kathleen Dennis-Torrey, Barbara Dennis and Bernadette Dennis; brothers, Harold and Thomas, and seven grandchildren.
Marcia Rood
Mrs. Marcia Rood, 75, of Union died Feb. 26 in Union Hospital. She was the head of payroll at Revlon, where she worked for 25 years before retiring seven years ago.
Born in Newark, she lived in Irvington before moving to Union 30 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Julius; a daughter, Lisa Boydman; sons, Harold and Steven; brothers, Nathan, Aaron and Sidney Bregman, and five grandchildren.
Bernard C. Dennis
Bernard C. Dennis, 82, of Parsippany died Feb. 26 at home. He worked at Norda Flavors and Fragrances in New York City and East Hanover for 42 years before retiring as the vice president of purchasing 24 years ago.

Dorothy W. Sandargus
Mrs. Dorothy W. Sandargus, 87, of Mountainside died Feb. 24 in Overlook Hospital, Summit.
She was a member of the Polish Womans Alliance Group 601 in Irvington.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Sandargus lived in Irvington before moving to Mountainside in 1970.
Surviving are daughters, Diane Weiss and Barbara Rudolph; a brother, Fred Wisniewski, and a grandchild.
John A. Gelmi
John A. Gelmi, 84, of Union died Feb. 27 in Union Hospital. He was a truck driver for N.J. Forwarding Co. in Newark for 25 years before retiring 29 years ago.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Born in Boston, he lived in Newark and Irvington before moving to Union 39 years ago.
Surviving are a son, John G.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Barbara R. Moxley
Mrs. Barbara R. Moxley, 63, a lifelong Irvington resident, died Feb. 27 in St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. She was a clerk with the Prudential Insurance Co., Newark for 34 years before retiring in 1994.
She was a leader of Girl Scout Troop 170 and Wednesdays Lunch and Learn Club and a deacon, all at Faith United Church, Union.
Surviving is a brother, Robert Tyler.
Eliesabeth Stefuryszyn
Mrs. Eliesabeth Stefuryszyn, 75, of Parsippany, died Feb. 28 at the Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clares Hospital in Dover.
Mrs. Stefuryszyn was a cashier at the Foodtown in Union for 20 years before retiring in 1993.
Born in Husum, Germany, she lived in England, Newark and Irvington before moving to Parsippany in 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Veronica Nadia Lochli; a son, Taras Michael; sisters, Ellen Gibson and Annamarie Barker; a brother, Robert Grohmann, and three grandchildren.
Frances DiPietro
Mrs. Frances DiPietro, 78, of Boonton died March 1 in the Victoria Mews Nursing Home in Boonton.
Born in Newark, Mrs, DiPietro lived in Irvington, Roseland, Fairfield and in Livingston for 10 years before moving to Boonton in 2000.
Surviving are sons, Kenneth Beahm, Charles and Don DiPietro; a daughter, Karen Zaccone; brothers, Vincent, Rocco and Robert Stefani, and six grandchildren.
Lomie I. Johnson
Mrs. Lomie I. Johnson, 99, of Irvington died Feb. 28 in Columbus Hospital, Newark. She worked for the Bristol-Myers Co. in Hillside for many years as a factory worker before retiring many years ago.
She was a deaconess and missionary at Good Neighbor Baptist Church.
Born in Morven, Ga., she moved to Irvington in 1932.
Surviving are a daughter, Queen E. Williams; a sister, Velma Rosser; a brother, Rayfue Rountree; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Richard J. Egner
Richard J. Egner, 84, of Union died March 1 in Union Hospital. He was a custodian at Montclair State College before retiring in 1983. Previously, he was a railroad conductor for Koppers Coke in Kearny for many years.
An Army veteran, he served during World War II.
Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington before moving to Union 56 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Rita; a son, Louis; sisters, Doris Urhanowick, Genevieve Demers and Helen Smith, and a grandchild.
Emma Lewis
Mrs. Emma Lewis, 84, of Irvington died Feb. 27 in the Chancellor Care Specialty Care Center, Newark. She was superintendent of the Spruce Street Apartments in Newark for many years.
She was also a home health aide, housekeeper and nanny for the late Gwen Guthrie for many years.
Mrs. Lewis was a founding member of the Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church, Newark, and served as a leader of the Pastoral Wardrobe Ministry and co-leader of the Senior Missionary Ministry. She was also a church sexton and member of the Mothers Board.
Born in Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Lewis lived in Newark before moving to Irvington.
Ruth Gorrin
Mrs. Ruth Gorrin, 87, of Union died March 1 in Union Hospital. She was a secretary for the Internal Revenue Service, Newark, before retiring.
She was a graduate of Drake Business School, Newark.
Mrs. Gorrin was a member of the Ahavath Achim B’nai Israel Sisterhood, Irvington.
Born in Orange, she lived in Irvington before moving to Union 36 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Harry, and a son, Gene.
