George James Caveney
George James Caveney, 61, of Belleville died Jan. 4 in Columbus Hospital, Newark.
Born in Newark, he lived in Belleville for many years.
Mr. Caveney was a maintenance mechanic at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, for more than 19 years.
Anne Rinaldi
Mrs. Anne Rinaldi, 82, of Nutley died Feb. 26 in Saint Barnabas Hospice at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark.
Born in Belleville, she moved to Nutley in 2001.
Mrs. Rinaldi was a clerical secretary at Franklin Plastics, Kearny, where she worked for 10 years before retiring in 1996.
Surviving are her husband, Marion; a son, Gary; and two grandchildren.
Michael Geltrude
Michael Geltrude, 66, of Nutley died Feb. 26 in the Hospice of New Jersey at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Wayne.
Born in Barletta, Italy, he came to the U.S. in 1951 and settled in Nutley.
Mr. Geltrude was chairman of the mathematics department at Cedar Grove High School from 1985 to 1998. He began working as a mathematics teacher at the high school in 1963. He was also the high school’s track coach from 1965 to 1980, the boys cross-country coach from 1975 to 1985 and the girls cross-country coach from 1985 to 1995.
Mr. Geltrude was a mathematics instructor at Montclair State University for 13 years until 2005 and an adjunct professor of mathematics at Bloomfield College from 1977 to 1996. A Nutley High School graduate, he was the school’s 1957 record holder for the longest punt, 82 yards.
Mr. Geltrude was named to “Who’s Who in American Education.”
Active with Nutley UNICO, he served as third vice president, program chairman and on the scholarship committee. In 2005, he was named “Man of the Year” by Nutley UNICO.
Also in 2005, he was presented with the Nutley/Belleville Thanksgiving Dinner Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nutley Football.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1290, the Third Half Club and the Hall of Fame Committee, all in Nutley.
He was co-founder of the Nutley Alumni Association, which provided scholarships to Nutley High School students.
Mr. Geltrude was football coach for the Nutley Midget Football program from 1960 to 1964 and a coach for Nutley Traveling Soccer for 10 years until 1989.
In 1981, he coached the first Nutley soccer team to play outside the United States by organizing a two-week trip to Germany.
Surviving are his wife, Judith; sons, Daniel J. and John M.; and three grandchildren.
Lawrence J. Corbo Jr.
Lawrence J. Corbo Jr., 67, a lifelong resident of Belleville, died Feb. 28 in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.
Mr. Corbo was a contractor in Belleville for many years before retiring.
Surviving are his wife, Jovinna; a daughter, Lena; sons, Lawrence J. III and Joseph; and two grandchildren.
Thomas P. Mahon Jr.
Thomas P. Mahon Jr., 48, a lifelong Nutley resident, died March 1 at home. Mr. Mahon was an anesthesia equipment salesman for Draeger Medical Inc., based in Pennsylvania, for the past 10 years.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Donna; daughters, Jillian, Kaitlyn and Kelly; his parents, Mary and Thomas P. Mahon Sr.; a brother, Kenneth; and sisters, Patricia Bartell and Marybeth.
Barbara A. Cooper
Mrs. Barbara A. Cooper, 66, died March 4 at her home in Succasunna.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Scranton, P.a. and lived in Nutley for 20 years and Bloomfield for 13 before moving to Succasunna.
Mrs. Cooper received a bachelor’s degree in education from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford in 1973. She was an English as a Second Language teacher for the Roxbury Board of Education for four years before retiring a year ago. She also spent 15 years as a manager for AT&T in Morristown.
Surviving are her sons David R., and Gary J.; and her mother, Helen D. Knight.
Margaret Ann Carroll
Miss Margaret Ann Carroll, 44, a lifelong resident of Nutley, died Feb. 25 in the Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.
Miss Carroll participated in the Special Young Adults Program in Nutley for 23 years.
Surviving are a sister, Arlene Haines; and brothers, Richard and William.
Eileen M. Poole
Mrs. Eileen M. Poole, 95, of Belleville died Feb. 26 at home.
Born in Bayonne, she lived in Belleville for 65 years.
Mrs. Poole was a salesperson at Hahnes & Co. Department Store in Newark for 13 years before retiring in 1971.
She later was a volunteer receptionist at the Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.
Surviving are daughters, Eileen Kahl, Peggy Davis and Helen Shilito; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Eugene I. Litwornia
Eugene I. Litwornia, 86, of Belleville died Feb. 18 in Clara Maass Continuing Care Center, Belleville.
Born in Newark, he lived in Maplewood before moving to Belleville two years ago.
Mr. Litwornia was a line mechanic in the lamp division at General Electric in Newark for 35 years before retiring 21 years ago.
Mr. Litwornia was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; daughters, Catherine Kish and Eugenia Yousoufian; a son, Stephen; a brother, John; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Anthony Tavella
Anthony Tavella, 82, of Nutley died Feb. 15 in the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville.
Born in Far Rockaway, N.Y., he lived in Cedarhurst, N.Y., most of his life, and Belleville for 11 years before moving to Nutley four months ago.
Mr. Tavella was a cosmetic buyer for Macy’s department store in New York City for 30 years before retiring in 1988.
Surviving are Bernice, his wife of 56 years; sons, Michael J., Dominick R., Christopher, David F. and the Rev. Thomas A. Tavella; and five grandchildren.
Mildred Santinelli
Mrs. Mildred Santinelli, 92, of Belleville died Feb. 16 in the Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.
Born in Bethlehem, Pa., she lived in Newark before moving to Belleville 35 years ago.
She was a bookbinder for the Economy Book Binding Co. in Kearny for 20 years before retiring 30 years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Jean Westerfield; sons, Nicholas and John; sisters, Genevieve Senneca, Marie Ricca and Josephine Coppola; a brother, Andrew Senneca; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Julia Isola
Mrs. Julie Isola, 85, of Belleville died Feb. 18 at home.
Born in Newark, she moved to Belleville 37 years ago.
Surviving are daughters, Judith R. Severino and Linda O’Connor; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Kevin J. Corneliess
Kevin J. Corneliess, 47, of Nutley died Feb. 16 in West Paterson.
Born in Passaic, he lived in Clifton before moving to Nutley 10 years ago.
Mr. Corneliess was a computer technician at Dain Rauscher Inc., West Paterson, for more than 20 years.
He was a former member of the Elm Tree Golf Club in Passaic County.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; daughters, Heather and Kristen; his parents, Gloria and Adrian Corneliess; and a sister, Dale Marcino.
