Hazel E. Bonagura
Belmar resident Hazel E. [Young] Bonagura died Tuesday, Aug. 15 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 84 years old.
Mrs. Bonagura was a former member of the Rosary Society and the Prime Timers Leisure Group of Saint Rose Church in Belmar.
An Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, Mrs. Bonagura was a radio technician stateside during the war.
Hazel was also an artist and painter. Born in Newton, N.C., Mrs. Bonagura lived in Clifton from 1947 until 1980 when she moved to her summer home in Belmar.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Peter J. Bonagura; her three sons, John D. Bonagura of Columbus, Ohio and his wife Debra, David M. Bonagura of Brick, and his wife, Sandra, and Gregory P. Bonagura of Fort Meyers Fla. and Belmar; her daughter, Susan B. Sanders of Lee, N.H. and her husband Bruce; her two grandchildren, Kelsey and Tyler Sanders; and two brothers, Howard Young of Maiden, N.C. and Ralph Young of Miami Fla.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D St., Belmar. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the funeral home on Friday at 8:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. Entombment will be at Holmdel cemetery Mausoleum, Holmdel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
Victor A. Florio
Leisure Village East, Lakewood resident Victor A. Florio, whose daughter lives in Manasquan, died Tuesday, Aug. 15 in Meridian Hospice, Brick.
He was 70 years old.
He was born in Caldwell. He owned and operated the Gates Bait & Tackle Shop and Motel in Point Pleasant Beach for 22 years.
A longtime resident of Point Pleasant Beach he was captain and owner of the charter fishing boat, Barvic. He also worked for Sterns Transportation, Wall and was a member of the Marine Corps.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Florio; and his five children, son Frank and his wife Sharon, of Point Pleasant, daughter Susan Thompson and her husband Kevin of Manasquan, son Daniel and his wife Caryl of Middletown, son Donald and his wife Teresa of Brick and son John and wife Amy of Denville. He is a cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren; Beth, Caitlin, Lauren, Nicholas, Lindsey, Matthew, Luke, John David, and Arianna Florio as well as Meridith, Kelly, Ashley and Megan Thompson.
Relatives and friends will be received at the O’Brien Funeral Home Highway 35 at New Bedford Rd. Wall, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be offered at 8:45 pm.

Minnie Brown Ervin
Manasquan resident Minnie Brown Ervin died Wednesday, Aug. 9.
She was 96 years old.
Minnie enjoyed crocheting, gardening and loved to cook, especially baking.
Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Minnie was a member of the West Grove United Methodist Church, Neptune. She worked for many years at Signalight in Neptune as an assembly line worker.
Minnie was born in Oakhurst and lived in Neptune for 30 years before moving to Manasquan, where she lived for 37 years.
Minnie was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, John Ervin, in 1965.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Al Temple of Manasquan; two sons and two daughters-in-law, John W. and Vilma Ervin of Sarasota, Fla., and Robert J. and Elizabeth Ervin of Holiday, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Ervin of Villa; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Interment was at Glendola cemetery, Wall.

Memorial Service Set For Bonnie Dickson
A memorial service for Bonnie Grace Dickson will be offered at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, at the Dickson Family Home, 611 Ocean Ave., Sea Girt. Following the service, relatives and friends will be received by the family until 7:30 p.m.
Interment will be private.
Ms. Dickson, 51, drowned June 23 while snorkeling in Loblolly Bay, Anegada, British Virgin Islands.
Ms. Dickson resided in both Sea Girt, and Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Flowers may be sent the day of the memorial service to the Dickson family home. Memorial contributions in Bonnie’s memory may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Claire Anne Foye
Avon-by-the-Sea and Bayonne resident Claire Anne Foye died Wednesday, June 28 in Bayonne Medical Center.
Born in Bayonne, Mrs. Foye was a registered nurse, graduating from Bayonne Hospital School of Nursing in 1956, then from Jersey City State College with a B.A. and master’s degree in health education. She was employed by the Bayonne Board of Education as a school nurse at Robinson School, Bayonne for 28 years, retiring in 1998. She received the Robinson’s Royal Hero award last year, presented by the student body.
Mrs. Foye was a member of the Ireland’s 32, County Corkmens Ladies Auxiliary, New Frontier Democrats, Jack Foye Association, Bayonne Hospital Alumni Association, Hudson County Nurses Association and the Hudson County Retired School Nurses Association. She received The Nurse of the Year award in 1997 from the New Jersey Nurses Association for discovering a heart problem in a child. She was the nurse for the Bayonne High School football team for 20 years. A volunteer for the Handicap Children's Summer Program, Bayonne.
Mrs. Foye volunteered as a triage nurse on Sept. 11 at Military Ocean Terminal, Bayonne. She was also a member of the Belmar Fishing Club and Spring Lake Golf Club.
She is survived by her husband John [Jack], former city council president [Bayonne]; three sons, John Drew, Kevin T., and Jay; a brother, Andrew J. Shanahan Jr.; and five grandsons, John Drew, Thomas, Brian, Michael and Andrew.
Bayonne Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
Gertrude Veronica Gleavy
Spring Lake Heights resident Gertrude Veronica Gleavy, formerly New Providence and West Orange, died Wednesday, June 28 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 83 years old.
Gertrude had been employed as a supervisor in the claims department. at Prudential Insurance Company, Newark for over 41 years, retiring in 1980. She was also a member of the Prudential Retired Employees Club.
Born in Orange, she had lived in West Orange for many years and was a graduate of West Orange High School. As a resident there, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, and was a member of the Rosary Society.
Earlier in her life, she had volunteered for the March of Dimes going door to door with her sister, Annette, doing charity work. She was also an avid traveler during her life. Known as “Aunt Gert” to all who knew her, she was loved just like a grandmother by all of her nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, James Gleavy. Surviving are her three sisters, Annette Leehive, Avon-by-the-Sea, Margaret Pomorski, West Caldwell, and Eleanor Coughlin, Lakewood; 11 nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and nephews.

John Ryan Glaccum
Brielle resident John Ryan Glaccum died Wednesday, June 28 in his home.
He was 69 years old.
Mr. Glaccum was a manager for Anheuser Busch in Newark for many years before retiring in 1992. During his retirement he worked for Crown Beer in Wall.
Mr. Glaccum was a graduate of St. Benedict’s Prep School in Newark.
He was a U.S. Army veteran from 1956 to 1959 during peacetime. He was a volunteer for the South Old Bridge Fire Department where he also served as the assistant chief and later the company chaplain.
Mr. Glaccum was a communicant and lector of St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Manasquan. Born in New York City, he grew up in South Orange and lived in Old Bridge before moving to Brielle seven years ago.
Mr. Glaccum is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Ann Marie [Sheridan]; and three daughters, Mary Beth Glaccum, Red Bank, Kathleen Smith and her husband, Todd, East Brunswick, and Maura Bannerman and her husband Frank, Avon. He also leaves his two brothers, Thomas, Stanley, Idaho, Denis of Unionville, Pa.; two grandchildren, Ryann and Kaitlyn; and many relatives and friends that will miss him greatly.

Vernon E. Osborn
Wall Township resident Vernon E. Osborn died Saturday, July 1 in his home.
He was 84 years old.
Born in Herbertsville, he was a lifelong area resident and a 1940 graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Osborn served in the 9th Army Air Corps in the 410th Bomb Group, as a sergeant.
For over 35 years he was employed by Jersey Central Power and Light, Point Pleasant Beach, and also worked for the Wall Township Water Department. Mr. Osborn was a life member and past chief of the Herbertsville Fire Company, No. 1, serving for over 65 years, where he was a charter member of the Junior Firemen Program. He was also a life member of the New Jersey State Exempt Firemen’s Association; and for many years served as a committeeman for Boy Scout Troop No. 82, Allenwood.
Husband of the late Betty C., he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey C. and Patricia Osborn, Spring Lake and Barry J. and Peggy Osborn, Herbertsville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Kathleen Dery
Manalapan resident Mary Kathleen Dery, whose children live in Manasquan and Lake Como, died Thursday, June 29 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.
She was 71 years old.
Born in Jersey City, she resided in Manalapan for 41 years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Manalapan. Mary worked for the Manalapan Township School System for 12 years before retiring.
Mrs. Dery was predeceased by her brothers, William and John McGovern and her granddaughter, Erin Dery.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles; four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Jr. and Donna, Manalapan, William and Marianne, Manalapan, Thomas and Michelle, Rahway, and John and Tracy, Manasquan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Margie and Bruce Allen, Lake Como, and Elizabeth Dery, Manalapan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard Nicholls, Morganville, and Margaret and Donald Dwyer, Sayreville; and 11 grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan.
Anna Oldham Guide
Point Pleasant resident Anna Oldham Guide, whose granddaughter lives in Belmar, died Friday, June 30 in Community Medical Center, Toms River.
She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Guide was a cafeteria worker in William Paterson High School for many years. Born in New Jersey, she lived in Wayne before moving to Point Pleasant 31 years ago.
She was predeceased by a son, Joseph C. Guide, on Jan. 8 2004; and a grandson, Bryan J. Guide, on Dec. 24, 2005.
Mrs. Guide is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph N. Guide; a granddaughter, Michele Trenkle and her husband Roger, Belmar; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Van Hise and Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach, is handling arrangements.

Irene Thiel
Spring Lake Heights resident Irene Thiel died Sunday, July 2 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 81 years old.
Mrs. Thiel was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Spring Lake Chapter of Deborah, a charter ladies auxiliary member of the Knights of Columbus No. 5611, Spring Lake, a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Manasquan Elks Lodge No. 2524, and a member of St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church in Spring Lake.
Mrs. Thiel was born in Lansford, Pa., and grew up in Jersey City before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1960. Mrs. Thiel’s pride and joy in life was her grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph E.; daughters, Irene E. Thiel, JoAnne Thiel-Sabo, and her husband Gary, all of Brick; grandchildren Sarah and Christopher Sabo; brother, John Koshuta, Toms River; sisters, Martha Petruzzi, Wall, Bette Maypother, Deerfield Beach, Fla., Helen Mahler, Highlands, Mary Koshuta, Lakewood, Dorothy Kruse, Colts Neck, and Margaret Koshuta, Manchester. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered today at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church in Spring Lake.
