Jeanne McDowell
Wall Township resident Jeanne McDowell died Saturday, July 29 in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, with her husband Fred at her side.
Mrs. McDowell was a homemaker. Born in Point Pleasant, she was a lifelong resident of the Shore area.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Fred McDowell Jr., Wall Township.

Eugene Maupai Jr.
Milton, Del. resident Eugene Maupai Jr., formerly of Belmar, died Friday, July 28 at home.
Born in Passaic, he resided in Belmar since 1977 before moving to Milton three months ago. He was a pipe fitter for Local 274 before retiring.
His summers after his retirement were proudly spent as a badge checker and bikini counter at the 12th Avenue gate, and on the sailboat with Barbara and John.
Mr. Maupai was a member of the Belmar Elks, the Belmar Youth Club and the Belmar Improvement Fund.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Higgins Maupai, Milton, Del.; one daughter and her husband, Catherine [Candy] and Mark Rehfuss, Richmond Hills, Ga.; two sons, Eugene III [Skip] and his wife, Mary, Richmond, Va., and Joseph and his wife, Karen, Hawaii; two brothers, Ralph and his wife Joan, West Milford, Greg and his wife Jeanne, Greenpond; two sisters, Debbie Maupai and her husband, Richard, Richland, Wash. and Michelle and her husband, Dr. Donald Siegal, Atlanta; and four grandchildren, Jillian and Christian Rehfuss and Brianne and Jacob Trosky.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society for research and for the cure of Mesothelioma would be appreciated.

Paul S. Zelek
Wall Township resident Paul S. Zelek died Saturday, July 29 in Ocean County Medical Center, Brick.
He was 84 years old.
Born in Wall, he was a lifelong resident. Mr. Zelek was an auto mechanic with Collingswood Exxon for 30 years before retiring in 1982.
He served in the United States Army Signal Corps during World War II.
Mr. Zelek is survived by his son, Stanley and his wife Linda, Brick; two daughters, Paulette Barnes and her husband, Roy, Greenbay, Va., and Dorothy Rocco and her husband, John, Centre, Ala. He was the loving grandfather and great grandfather of several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Zelek was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Emma Duncan.

Anne H. Zera Pietrucha
Sea Girt resident Anne H. Zera Pietrucha died Friday, July 21 in her home.
She was 91 years old.
Born in Newark, she lived in Glen Ridge and Spring Lake before coming to Sea Girt 37 years ago. Mrs. Pietrucha was employed as a bookkeeper with Mutual Aid Savings and Loan in Manasquan before retiring in 1978.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Pietrucha; her son-in-law, Frank Martin; her brother, Lucian Zera; and her sister, Helen Zera.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Joanne and Martin Freeman, Brielle; Dr. Dorothy Pietrucha, Sea Girt; her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Holly Pietrucha, Brick; and her granddaughter Elizabeth Martin, Sea Girt. She also leaves her brother, Stanley Zera, Spring Lake.
Arrangements were by the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Charles T. Dolce
Brick resident Charles T. Dolce, formerly of Manasquan, died Saturday, July 29 in his home.
He was 72 years old.
Mr. Dolce was a sales representative for Hooton Chocolate Co. and Aarhus Chocolate Co., both of Newark, for many years.
Mr. Dolce served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1698 of Point Pleasant, and was an officer for the Men’s Club of Princeton Commons, Brick. Mr. Dolce was also an avid golfer, card player, and had a love of horse racing. He was also s semi-pro football player and minor league baseball player.
He received his master’s degree from Hofstra University of New York. Born in Kearny, he lived in Manasquan before moving to Brick 12 years ago.
Mr. Dolce was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Lillian [Borgess] Dolce.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Alexander Dolce; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Christine Dolce of North Caldwell, and Gregory and Suzanne Dolce of North Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and David DeGrandchamp of Dauphin, Pa., and his stepchildren, Linda and Thomas Quigley of Manasquan and Karen Heslen of Florida; nine grandchildren; his brother, Richard and sister-in-law Marie, New York and many nieces and nephews.

Donald Harker
Wall Township resident Donald Harker, formerly of Neptune and Ocean Grove, died Friday, July 28 in Meridian Hospice in Brick.
He was 46 years old.
Mr. Harker was born, raised and educated in Neptune. He was employed as a roofer by several local firms. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Neptune, and loved fishing.
Mr. Harker was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Janet Johnson Harker.
He is survived by his brothers, Lester K. and James Harker; his cousins, Diana, John Jr. and James Erving, Robert Harker and Rose Lee Lane and a network of friends.
At his personal request, all services were private.

Mildred E. Lahr
Neptune resident Mildred E. Lahr, who formerly summered in Avon, died Friday, July 28 in Bayside Manor, Keansburg.
Born in Jersey City, she lived in Elizabeth and summered in Avon before moving to the Shore area permanently in 1949 and to Neptune in 1970. Mrs. Lahr was a secretary in New York City for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Avon and a member of the Bible study group. She was also a member of the Neptune AARP, the Neptune Seniors Club and the Young at Heart Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roy, in 1991 and her brother, Dr. Peter Ehrhardt.
Surviving is her son, Richard of Ocean Grove; one sister, Mary Ann Hauser of San Raphel Calif.; two grandsons, Richard and Jonathan Lahr; and nieces and nephews.

Kathleen Doran
Spring Lake Heights resident of The Arbors, Kathleen Mary Madden Doran died Tuesday, June 20 in West Hudson Continuing Care Center, Kearny.
She was 93 years old.
Mrs. Doran was an elementary school teacher for the Elizabeth Board of Education before retiring many years ago. She was a graduate of Battin High School, Elizabeth, and the Newark Normal School, now Kean University.
Mrs. Doran was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Genevieve’s Roman Catholic Church and the Kean University Alumni Association.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Vincent Doran Sr.; and her brother, John Madden.
Mrs. Doran is survived by four daughters, Joan M. McLaughlin and her husband, John of Kearny, Kathleen M. Lally and her husband, Richard of Cranford, and Margaret A. Lowes and her husband, Richard of Manasquan; two sons, Francis V. Doran Jr. of Roselle Park, and John M. Doran and his wife, Sue of Toms River; seven grandchildren, Julie, Jill and Jennifer McLaughlin, John and Brian Doran, and Elizabeth and Samantha Lowes; and two nephews, John and Michael Madden.

Helen M. Fisher
Ocean Grove resident Helen M. Fischer, formerly of Wall Township and Belmar, died Tuesday, Aug. 8 in the Manor By The Sea Nursing Home in Neptune.
She was 91 years old.
Mrs. Fisher worked in the manufacturing plant of the R.C.A. Corporation in Harrison for 30 years. Later in life she worked as a private caregiver in the Belmar area for over 20 years.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Fisher lived in Kearny for 18 years, Wall Township for 30 years and Belmar for two years, before moving to Ocean Grove five years ago.
Helen loved living at the Shore where she could indulge her great passion for the beach and the ocean.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin Fisher of Bradley Beach and Paul Fisher of Hopatcong and his wife, Rosemary; her granddaughter, Cindy Ann Fisher of Hopatcong; and her brother, Edward Powers of Chatham.
Interment was at St. Catharine’s cemetery, Wall.

Charles E. Cory
Belmar resident Charles E. Cory died Wednesday, Aug. 9 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 82 years old.
Mr. Cory was the owner of Cory Roofing and Siding of Belmar which he started over 50 years ago. He was a member of the Asbury Park, Wall Elks Club Lodge No. 128. Born in Spring Lake, he lived in Belmar for 62 years.
Mr. Cory is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Charles Cory and his five siblings, Carrie, Doris, Olive, Zane and Corbett.
Mr. Cory is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Cory; his son, Gene Cory, Belmar and his wife Nancy; his daughter, Lynda S. Westerfield, Wall and her husband, Martin; his five grandchildren, Christopher Cory, Wall and his wife, Jennifer, Michael Cory of Liberty, S.C. and his wife Lee, Brian Cory of Pearl River, N.Y. and his wife, Sheila, and Kelly and Jennifer Westerfield, Wall Township; his five great-grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsay Cory of Wall Township, Hannah and Catherine Cory of Liberty, S.C., Angela Westerfield, Wall, and a baby on the way in Pearl River, N.Y.; and his sister, Everdeen K. Yetman, Tucson, Ariz.
Entombment was at Monmouth Memorial Park Mausoleum, Tinton Falls.

Frank A. Pinnella Jr.
Manasquan resident Frank A. Pinnella Jr. died on Monday, Aug. 14 in Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick.
He was 82 years old.
Frank had been employed as a machinist at E.A.I. Corporation, Eatontown for 25 years before retiring in 1985.
He was a faithful Communicant of St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, Manasquan and an Army veteran of WWII.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Manasquan for the past 55 years.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn L. [nee Meli] Pinnella in April 2004; and his two brothers, Bernard and Peter Pinnella.
Surviving are his seven sons, Joseph J. and Tracy of Santa Barbara, Calif., Donald F. and Cheryl of Westcliffe, Colo., Stephen K. and Terry of Cairo, N.Y., Jeffrey D. and Terri of Brielle, David R. and Mary Beth of Manasquan, Kenneth D. of Fort Collins, Colo., and Michael G. and Jennifer of Milltown, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph, of Toms River; and a sister, Paula Martin, of Florida; and 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be today at 10:15 a.m. from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan. Interment St. Catharine’s cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid-Jersey Chapter, 246 Monmouth Road Oakhurst, 07755. Donation envelopes are available at the funeral home.
