Rosemary C. Cook
Wall Township resident Rosemary C. Read Cook died Saturday, April 22 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 70 years old.
Mrs. Cook was born in Barnet, Herts, England, lived in Bedford, England, moved to the United States in 1958 and lived in Wall since 1959.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Wall United Methodist Church in Spring Lake Heights, where she was active as a Lay Leader, was a former member of the pastor parish and executive board. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Cook was a member of the Cosmopolitan Associates of Neptune for 40 years, was a 20-year volunteer and 10-year chairman of the VNA Thrift Shop, Manasquan, was a Girl Scout Leader for five years and was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband of 46 years, Philip Cook; a son, David P. and his wife, Cheryl, Wall Township; two daughters, Stephanie R. McLean and her husband, Steven, Brick Township, and Stacey A. Cook, New York, N.Y.; a brother, Richard C. Read, Bognor Regis, England; a sister-in-law, Dorothea Dreier, Manchester; and three grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah and Todd.
Friends may call on today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7tp 9 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, Route at New Bedford Road, Wall Township. Interment is private. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Wall United Methodist Church, Spring Lake Heights.

George Sodini
Wall Township resident George Thomas Sodini died Monday, April 24 in JFK Medical Center, Edison.
He was 52 years old.
Mr. Sodini was born in Englewood, resided in Cliffside Park and Ocean, before moving to Wall Township recently.
He was a graduate of Arkansas College, Batesville, Ark., where he attended on a full scholarship for basketball. Mr. Sodini played semiprofessional basketball in Italy. He was an avid basketball player and golfer. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Sodini was an owner of Eagle Imports, Inc., Wanamassa, a company he and his associates started in 1988. He made many friends throughout the world through his business.
Mr. Sodini was predeceased by his mother, Viola Maas Sodini, who died in 1997.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Sodini, Brielle; his brother, Gregg Sodini, Manalapan; his sister, Lynn Ann Yinger, Colorado; his father, George D. Sodini, Long Branch; his fiancee, Leslie Cooper, Wall Township; the mother of his daughter, Denise “Tykie” Sodini, Brielle; and his nieces and nephews: Michael, Alexander, Andrew and Arick Sodini, Nicholas and Alysha Yinger; and a greatniece, Ella Sodini.
Visiting will be Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 1to 5 p.m., at Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan. There will be a funeral service on Saturday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

Evelyn Roland
Toms River resident, formerly of New Providence, Evelyn Baldassare Roland, whose grandchildren live in Spring Lake, died Wednesday, April 12 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township..
She was 91 years old.
Mrs. Roland was born in Newark, and raised in Italy, returning to Newark at the age of 12. She was a gifted seamstress working for many private tailoring businesses. She later established a beauty salon, Park East Coiffeurs, in Freehold, along with her daughter, Mary Schneider Murphy, and worked until her retirement in 1989. Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Rachel Sporaza Baldassare; her beloved husband, Robert Roland, in 1987; four siblings, Edward, Josephine, Pauline and Dolores Baldassare; and two grandchildren, Mary Anne Norton, and Gary Phillips.
She is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Joan LoSapio, Madison, Norma Jean Phillips, Brick and Mary Schneider Murphy, Manchester; three brothers, Thomas and Harry Baldassare, both of Coral Springs, Fla., and Walter Bsldassare, of Clark; five grandchildren, Sandello LoSapio, Robert Phillips, Christine Bassone, Stacy Akins, Scott Schneider; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family invites relatives and friends to a Memorial Mass which will be offered on Saturday, April 29 at Our Lady of Peace Church, New Providence at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Hanover. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. Arrangements are under the direction of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan.
John A. Pomianowski
Spring Lake resident John A. Pomianowski died Sunday, Oct. 2 in Neptune Rehab and Care Center.
He was 77 years old.
Born and raised in Staten Island, N.Y., Mr. Pomianowski lived in Holmdel for 27 years before moving to Spring Lake in 1985. He was a member of the alumni associations of Curtis High School, and Wagner College, both of Staten Island. He was employed by the Sun Oil Co. and N.Y. Telephone Co. and was a communications consultant for E.G.&G., of Fort Monmouth, before retiring. Mr. Pomianowski was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. While living in Holmdel, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and, while residing in Spring Lake, was a member of the Spring Lake Environmental Commission, where he served as commissioner. Mr. Pomianowski was also a member of the Keyport Yacht Club for over 40 years, as well as the Shark River Yacht Club, and was a member of the U.S. Masters Swimming. He was a communicant of St. Catharine’s and St. Margaret’s Parish, Spring Lake.
Mr. Pomianowski is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores M. Borger Pomianowski; his three sons, John C., of Montauk, N.Y., Mark S., of San Francisco, Calif., and Eric N., of Red Bank; his two sisters, Helene Gladis, of Monmouth Beach, and Dorothy Faison, of Staten Island, N.Y.

Isia I. “Dic” Goodman
Neptune City resident Isia Goodman, who had relatives in Spring Lake and Wall Township, died Thursday, Oct. 20 in his home.
He was 81 years old.
Mr. Goodman retired in 1984 from the Fort Monmouth Guard Service after 37 years of service.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elouise.
Mr. Goodman is survived by his four daughters, Candy L. Goodman, of Los Angeles, Holly and her husband, Theodore Beekman, of Neptune, Penny and her husband, Robert Ostrowski, of Philadelphia, and Lynda and her husband, Howard Rockhill, of Spring Lake; his son, Eugene Slocum, of Wall Township; his three sisters, Katy Sacknowitz, of Freehold, Ida LaSalle, of Freehold, and Ann Casale, of Queens, N.Y.; his brother, Joseph Goodman, of Lancaster Pa.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Edward Mathias Morton
Manasquan resident Edward Mathias Morton died Wednesday, Oct. 19 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
He was 76 years old.
Born in Allenwood, Mr. Morton lived there before moving to Manasquan in 1988. He graduated from Manasquan High School in 1946. Mr. Morton served three years in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was a past president and life member of the South Wall Fire Dept., life member of the Squan Village Historical Society, life member of the New Jersey Archeological Society, and a 55-year member of the Wall-Spring Lake Masonic Lodge F. & A.M.
Mr. Morton was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Ruth F. Morton, and his brother, Thomas W. Morton.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, E. Jerome and Christine Morton, of Manasquan; his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda L. Morton-Hunt and Ken, of Snohomish, Wash.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Beverley Evelyn Tucker Davis
Tierra Verde, Fla. resident, formerly of Brielle, Beverley Evelyn Tucker Davis died Sunday, Oct. 16 in College Harbor Retirement Community, St. Petersburg, Fla.
She was 87 years old.
Born in Los Angeles, Mrs. Davis moved to Tierra Verde in 1984 from Brielle. She was a retired teacher with the public school system and member of Chi Omega of UCLA. Mrs. Davis was of the Episcopalian faith.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Richard Caleb Davis III and George Lansing Davis Jr.
Mrs. Davis is survived by three sons, Richard T. Davis, of Atlanta, George Lansing Davis III, of Tierra Verde, and Kenneth Clinton Davis, of Amherst, N.H.; her sister, Peggy Newby, of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Patrick J. Martin
Longtime Spring Lake resident Patrick J. Martin died Wednesday, Oct. 12 in Brighton Gardens, Cherry Hill.
He was 85 years old.
Mr. Martin was a World War II veteran and retired Fort Monmouth Department of Defense contracting officer. He entered the civilian government service in Philadelphia, after what he described as the four proudest years of his life, serving aboard the heavy cruiser USS Louisville during World War II. During the three and a half years aboard the Louisville, he received 13 battle stars, including two Bronze and Silver Stars for engagement in the South Pacific, including the Philippines, battles of Leyte Gulf, Lingayan Gulf and Suriago Straits. Prior action in the Pacific Solomon Islands included USS Louisville efforts to save her sister ship, the USS Chicago, with a tow, after it was damaged by Japanese torpedo bombers. While serving aboard his ship, the USS Louisville, it suffered three Kamikaze hits, with resulting loss of life, including their Admiral Theodore Chandler, the youngest admiral in the fleet. Mr. Martin also was a prized crew member chosen to board a Japanese destroyer in September 1945 to accept its surrender. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945 and then served the Department of Defense for 30 years, in civilian capacity, receiving numerous awards during his employ there.
Mr. Martin was predeceased by his son, Patrick J. Martin; his brother, James Martin, and his sisters, Rose Rebuck and Josephine Smith.
He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Mary Nulty and Letitia Hennessey; his daughter-in-law, Lynda Martin; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Also surviving him is his loving companion for the last eight years, Stevie McKnight, of Spring Lake.
Services were held at Inglesby Givnish Funeral Home in Maple Shade. Burial with full military honors was held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery, Wrightstown.

Loretta Theresa Carey
Whiting resident Loretta Theresa Carey, formerly of Spring Lake Heights, died on Saturday, Oct. 22 in the Whiting Health Care Facility.
She was 87 years old.
Born and raised in Bayonne, Mrs. Carey lived in Spring Lake Heights before moving to Whiting 10 years ago. She worked in retail at John’s Bargain Stores in Bayonne. She was also a cook at Holy Family Academy, also in Bayonne. Mrs. Carey was a member of the VFW Gold Star Mothers in Bayonne and was a former member of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Bayonne.
She was predeceased by her husband, Timothy F,. in 1971; her daughter, Anna Marie Wimmer, in 1993; her brothers, Walter, Frank and John Wolan, and her sisters, Josephine Smyczynski, Stella Wilkowski and Mary Simpson.
Mrs. Carey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Patricia Carey, of Brick; her four grandchildren, Mary Ann, Billy, Dawn and Kim; her two great-grandchildren, John and Conner, and many nieces and nephews.

Gloria Basso Ferreira
Brick resident Gloria Basso Ferreira, who had relatives in Wall Township, died Sunday, Oct. 23 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was 80 years old.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y., Mrs. Ferreira moved to Deer Park, N.Y. [Long Island] before moving to Brick 15 years ago. She was a very energetic person who loved to walk. Mrs. Ferreira would walk about 6 miles a day. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Ferreira is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frederick Ferreira; her two sons and two daughters-in-law, Frederick and Jeanette Ferreira, of Kings Park, N.Y., and Robert and Mary Ferreira, of Wall; four grandchildren, Christine Westrich and her husband, Brian, April Ferreira, Jami Ferreira and John Ferreira; her two sisters, Eileen Basso and Rita Markus, both of Bethel, Conn.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday 11 a.m. at St. Martha’s Church, Brick. Interment will be private at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial cemetery, Arneytown.

Edna Hapgood Clark
Manasquan resident Edna Louise Hapgood Clark died Wednesday, Oct. 26 in Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Brick Township.
She was 85 years old.

Katherine Strassburger Brennan
Spring Lake resident Katherine Strassburger Brennan died Saturday at home with her family by her side.
She was 59 years old.
Born in Ocean Grove and raised in Shrewsbury, Mrs. Brennan lived in Rumson before moving to Spring Lake 31 years ago. She was an administrative assistant for L’Oreal, Monmouth Junction, for 17 years. Mrs. Brennan attended Beaver College in Pennsylvania for one year before graduating from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She enjoyed gardening and cooking in her spare time. Mrs. Brennan thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially happy and proud to be a grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bernard Brennan; her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew T. and Andrea Brennan, of Sea Girt; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan S. Brennan and her husband, Greg Davis, of Berlin, Vt.; her granddaughter, Scarlett Ella, and her two brothers, Albert Strassburger, of Ocean Grove, and Andrew Strassburger, of Little Silver.

Jean E. Miller
Sea Brook Village, Tinton Falls resident Jean E. Miller, formerly of Sea Girt, died Sunday, Oct. 23, at her home.
She was 88 years old.
Born and raised in Holyoke, Mass., Mrs. Miller resided in Sea Girt for many years. She graduated from the Pratt Institute with a degree in food services and management. While residing in Sea Girt, Mrs. Miller and her husband owned and operated the Town House Tea Room. She was a member of the Sea Girt Women’s Club, a volunteer at Jersey Shore Medical Center, a member of the United Presbyterian Women’s Rachel circle and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan, where she served as a past deacon.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband of 68 years, William Wallace Miller. She is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Homer Smith, of Wall Township, and Lynn and John Ward, of Summit; her grandchildren, Kim, Karen, Melinda Suzanne and Todd, and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan. Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery, Brielle. Visiting will be on Friday morning from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Central New Jersey, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank.
