Mary Flockhart

Tinton Falls resident Mary E. Flockhart [nee Denny] died Saturday, May 1 in Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.

She was 84 years old.

Born in East Orange she lived in Kearny, Rutherford and Lincroft before moving to Tinton Falls three years ago.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Navasink Garden Club and a former member of the Lincroft Fire and First Aid Auxiliary.

Mrs. Flockhart was predeceased by her husband John Flockhart in 1990.

She is survived by her two sons John Flockhart, Spring Lake Heights, and Raymond Flockhart, Little Silver; her two grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral arrangements were from the Armitage Funeral Home.

Barbara Alderton

Wall resident Barbara Helen Alderton died Sunday, May 2 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 81 years old.

Born in Lansing, Mich., she lived in East Jordan, Mich., and eventually moved to Wall.

She graduated from Michigan State University in 1944.

She was beloved by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, optimism, selflessness, and gentle spirit.

Mrs. Alderton was predeceased by her husband Captain Dickson W. Alderton, USN, Retired; and her parents Marjorie George Ballard and Clinton Vede Bailard.

She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws James and Katrinka Alderton, Frisco, Texas, and William and Susan Alderton, Mission Viejo, Calif.; her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Joel Goldblatt, Wall; her six grandchildren Jonathan and Michael Goldblatt, David and Elizabeth Alderton, and Bryson and Devin Alderton.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home.

Eloise Tittel

Brick resident Eloise F. Tittel died Monday, May 3 in Meridian Hospice, Brick.

She was 91 years old.

Born in Asbury Park, she resided in Newark and Springfield before moving to the shore area six years ago.

She was employed in the Actuarial Claims Department of Prudential Insurance, Newark, for 44 years before retiring.

She was a member of the Prudential Seniors Retirement Group, the Springfield Seniors, volunteered at the Springfield Library and the Homeless Care Program at Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church, Union.

Mrs. Tittel was predeceased by her husband James H. Tittel in 1978; and her brother George Forsman.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Jan and Dick Moglia, Manasquan, formerly of Wall; her sister-in-law Demateria Noll, Monroe; her nieces Lori Amos, Gathersburg, Md, Beth Miller, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; her nephews Bernard Noll and Andrew Noll; and her grandniece Dawn Miller, Stewart, Fla.

Services will be held by the Neary Quinn-Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 7. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting will be Thursday 2 to 5 p.m.

Mary Wiseman

Wall resident Mary Frances “Fern” Wiseman died Sunday, May 2 in Waterford Glen, Wall.

She was 78 years old.

Born in Durrus, County Cork, Ireland, she emigrated to the United States in 1947 and settled in Verona before moving to Wall 1 1/2 years ago.

While in the United States she pursued a career in Blood Bank Technology, heading the Blood Bank Department at Mountainside Hospital, Montclair for over 25 years. After a career change she was employed with Chase Manhattan Bank until her retirement.

She was a member of the Greenwood Swim Club in Florham Park.

She was well known in her homeland for her musical and dance talents. In her youth she was the recipient of numerous medals for Irish step dancing and earned honors in violin and piano from the London College of Music.

She was an avid golfer and will be remembered for her wit, her love of flowers, her attention to detail, her expertise at NY Times crossword puzzle, and her lovely Irish brogue will be missed.

Ms. Wiseman was predeceased by her brother Rev. Robert Wiseman; and her friend Edward J. Epstein.

She is survived by her brother Eugene Wiseman and sister Irene Crowley, both of Durrus, County Cork, Ireland; and her other sister Sr. Eleanor Wiseman, London, England.

Services will be held by the O’Brien Funeral Home, Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 7 for friends and relatives. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart cemetery, Durrus, County Cork, Ireland.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ms. Wiseman’s memory may be made to Meridian Hospice, 1340 - A Campus Parkway, Wall, 07753 or the Irish American Fund, N.Y.C.

Laura Connors

Wall resident Laura Martha Stewart Connors died Monday, May 3 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, in her daughter’s arms.

She was 84 years old.

Born in Elizabeth, she lived in East Brunswick before moving to Wall 19 years ago.

She was employed as a packer for American National Can Co. in Hillside before retiring in 1966.

During World War II she worked at National Pneumatic in Rahway where she cleaned ammunition shells.

She also worked as a saleslady at R.J. Department Store.

She was a loving and devoted wife and took care of her husband for eight years as he suffered from kidney disease.

She had a special and loving way about her, but most of all she loved her family, and touched many lives with her love and generosity. Her laugh and smiling face will be missed by her family who will hold her forever in their hearts.

Mrs. Connors was predeceased by her husband William E. Connors in 1987.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law William E. Connors Jr. and Catherine; her daughter and son-in-law Gail and Louis Rivetti; her two grandsons and their wives, and three great grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. James Parella and their son James, and Mr. and Mrs. William Parella, their son Alexander and daughter Ava Grace; and her sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held by the O’Brien Funeral Home, Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 7. Mass at St. Rose Church, Belmar, at 9 a.m.

Alice Murray [nee Gallagher] Reilly

Palm Beach Shores, Fla. resident Alice Murray [nee Gallagher] Reilly, formerly of Manasquan died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 29 at Hospice of Palm Beach County.

She was 76 years old.

Born in Bayonne, Mrs. Reilly was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Mary Rogers Gallagher, and had resided in Manasquan for 35 years before moving to the Palm Beaches in Florida 18 years ago. She was an active communicant of St. Clare Catholic Church. Mrs. Reilly was a devoted wife and mother whose focus in life was raising her three sons.

Mrs. Reilly was predeceased by one son, Edward J. Reilly.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving spouse of 50 years, Edward J. Reilly; her two sons, Neil, and his wife, Laurie, Brick Township, and Brian, Lake Como; her four grandchildren, Brian Michael, Nicole and twins Ashley and Tina Reilly; and her sister, Connie, and her husband, Ralph Yuriou, Viera, Fla.

The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, was in charge of arrangements.

Marita “Marie” Garrow Rodriguez

Monroe Township resident Marita “Marie” Garrow Rodriguez, formerly of Spring Lake, died Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Cranbury Center, Monroe Township.

She was 77 years old.

Born in Malone, N.Y., Mrs. Rodriguez had lived in Spring Lake for 20 years. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. Mrs. Rodriguez was devoted to caring and loving her husband and nine children. She enjoyed spending time with her family, often enjoying the element of surprise with her quick wit. Time on the beach, golfing, sewing and quilting were great sources of pleasure for her.

Mrs. Rodriguez was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Eleanor Garrow; her four brothers, Albert, Wendel, Gordon and Edward Garrow; and her loving husband of 57 years, Conrad F. Rodriguez.

She is survived by her three sons, Johnny, and his wife, Reney, Joey, and his wife, Helen, and Tell, and his wife, Sandy; her six daughters, Tese Palmer, and her husband, Jim, Mary McKenna, Beth Israel, Annie Taylor, Lisa Walton, and her husband, Chip, Julie Dickson, and her husband, Rick, and Po Rodriguez; her former son-in-law, Bill McKenna; her 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, was in charge of arrangements.

Ann A. Marola

Belmar resident Ann A. Marola died Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 88 years old.

Born in Union City, she lived in Houston, Texas and Stockton, Calif., before moving to Belmar 16 years ago. Mrs. Marola retired from Texas Instruments in Houston in 1976 where she worked as a chemical engineering technician. An avid skilled poker player she played for 76 years. Ann was an extremely giving person. “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

She was predeceased by her husband, the late Gene J. Marola; and her twin boys.

Mrs. Marola is survived by her daughters, Adele M. Marola, Neptune, and Theresa Self, Belmar; her son, Gene V. Marola, and his wife, Sandi, Pennsylvania.; her sister, Marie Giordano, Texas; her six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar, was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas H. Madden

Fort Myers, Fla. resident Thomas H. Madden, formerly of Sea Girt, died Saturday, Feb. 4 after a short illness in Fort Myers.

He was 104 years old.

Born in Trenton, Mr. Madden was a graduate of Rutgers University and Temple University School of Dentistry, Philadelphia. He was a resident of Sea Girt for 30 years before moving to Fort Myers, Fla., permanently in 1973. Mr. Madden served in World War II as Dental Surgeon of Camp Claiborn, La., and Tilton General Hospital, Fort Dix. Following the war he relocated his dental practice from Trenton to Spring Lake where he practiced from 1945 to 1973. Mr. Madden was active in Manasquan Kiwanis, St. Uriel’s Episcopal Church, the Sea Girt School Board and a member of the Spring Lake Golf Club and The New Jersey Dental Society.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Anna Klemann Madden, and his son, William K. Madden.

Mr. Madden is survived by his wife of 40 years, Edwina Newman Madden, Ft. Myers, Fla.; his daughter, Carolyn Madden Underwood, Newport News, Va.; his step-daughter, Marcella Newman, Omaha, Neb.; his step-son, Lee Newman, Bellingham, Wash.; his seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The National Cremation Society was in charge of arrangements.

John ‘Tom’ Brown

Manasquan resident John “Tom” Brown died suddenly at his home on Thursday, Feb. 9.

He was 59 years old.

Born in Red Bank, Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Manasquan. He was a graduate of Manasquan High School, class of 1965, and played both varsity football and baseball. After graduation he joined the Navy where he was a “Seabee” serving in Phu-bon, Vietnam. Mr. Brown served in the Navy from 1965 to 1969 and finished his career with the New Jersey National Guard.

He was a coach for Manasquan Little Blue Warriors for 20 years and the Manasquan-Brielle Little League for 20 years, where in 1992 with his brother, Dave, won the District 3 Championship. Mr. Brown was also a Manasquan/Brielle softball coach. He was a former member of the Manasquan Football Club where he was known for his famous Thanksgiving Day Parade floats.

He was employed for the past 27 years as a maintenance electrician with Inverness Bio-Medical, Freehold. Mr. Brown also worked as an electrician with H.C. Sauer, Brielle.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, John D. and Alta Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Linda Shibla Brown; his children, John T. Jr., and his wife, Michelle, Point Pleasant, Jennifer, and her husband, Christopher Wegener, Point Pleasant, Kevin, Kelli and Kyle Brown, Manasquan; his sisters, MaryLou Brinzo, Brick Township, Janice, and her husband, Dennis Boryzewski, Brick; his brother, David J. Brown, and his wife, Jerri, Manasquan; and his grandchildren, Derek and Tyler Brown and Cam, Jake and Cole Wegener.

The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ocean of Love, 1709 Rt. 37 East, Toms River, 08753.
