Helen V. Walling Chace
Toms River resident Helen V. Walling Chace, formerly of Spring Lake, died Thursday, March 24 in the Arbors Nursing Home, Toms River.
She was 91 years old.
Mrs. Chace was a 58-year resident of Spring Lake. She attended the St. Andrews Methodist Church, belonged to a creative writing club in Spring Lake, and was a member of the Retired Officer’s Association of Fort Monmouth (her deceased husband Major Edgar N. Chace having been a military officer and 1932 graduate of West Point, NY). Mrs. Chace was an accomplished dancer in her youth, being dubbed the Junior Pavlova, performing before Mayor LaGuardia, President Calvin Coolidge, and at numerous benefits and recitals.
Mrs. Chace was predeceased by her husband Edgar N. Chace and daughter Jacqueline H. Latendresse.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Allen N. nd Sylviane Chace; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Edwin H. Zaeh
Spring Lake Heights resident Edwin H. Zaeh died Thursday, March 24 in the Monmouth County Care Center, Allenwood.
He was 97 years old.
Born in Jersey City, he resided there throughout his entire working career. He was a long-time member of John’s Lutheran Church, Jersey City. Mr. Zaeh moved to Spring Lake Heights in 1969 to enjoy his retirement years with his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret. He attended New York University and was a practicing Certified Public Accountant in both New York and New Jersey.
Mr. Zaeh was employed by the Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company of New York and progressed to the position of senior officer of the company with the title of Director of Internal Auditing. His success in that field was only surpassed by his love and loyalty to his family and friends. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manasquan, South Monmouth County Senior Citizens, and the Institute of Internal Auditors. Throughout his life he assisted others through his volunteer work with the Boy Scouts, Little and Babe Ruth baseball leagues, and numerous church activities.
Mr. Zaeh was predeceased by his sister Carolyn Kiefer Zaeh and brother Herbert Zaeh.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Reymann; two sons, Donald and daughter-in-law Janis, Granite Springs, NY; Robert and daughter-in-law Suzi, Williamsburg, VA; and four grandchildren, Janelle Shipley, Andrew Zaeh, Stacy Zaeh, and Meredith Fuller.

Helen Marie Hetfield Rheinlander
Lakewood resident Helen Marie Hetfield Rheinlander, formerly of Sea Girt, died Saturday, March 26 in the Sherrock Gardens Care Center, Lakewood.
She was 78 years old.
Born in Plainfield, Mrs. Rheinlander lived in Allendale for 30 years, before coming to Sea Girt 9 years ago, and recently to Lakewood. She was employed as an accountant for the Episcopal Church Pension Fund, New York City, and served as comptroller for Allendale Nursing Home for 26 years before retiring. Mrs. Rheinlander was a graduate of Madison College, Harrisonburg, VA and was a member of the Plainfield Women’s Club and the Allendal Women’s Club. Mrs. Rheinlander had been a member of the Archer United Methodist Church, Allendale, for 30 years and was a member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Charles H. Rheinlander; son and daughter-in-law William and LeAnne Rheinlander, Scott Depot, WV; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Mark Schreur, Ho Ho Kus. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary, Megan and Spencer Rheinlander, and Timothy and Brian Schreur.

Orazio ‘Ray’ Scudieri
Bradley Beach resident Orazio “Ray” Scutieri, died Saturday, March 26 in his home.
He was 87 years old.
Born in Genoa, Italy, he lived in Jersey City before moving to Bradley Beach 34 years ago.
Mr. Scudieri was a self-employed commercial artist in the shore area. He served in the Italian Navy.
Mr. Scudieri was predeceased by his wife Angela Michilana SanChiero Scudieri.
He is survived by son James D. Scudieri, Ky; daughter Michelle R. Boyle, Barnaget; and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Andrew, Carol Ann Boyle, and Anthony Scudieri.

Angelka Kavrecich
Point Pleasant resident Angelka Kavrecich, who has family in Wall Township, died Sunday, March 27 in the Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.
She was 89 years old.
Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Mrs. Kavrecich emigrated to New York City in 1948. She married Jordan Kavrecich in 1957, and shortly afterward they moved to Tivoli, NY where they resided for 25 years.
Mrs. Kavrecich was predeceased by husband Jordan and daughter, Mary Vukovich.
She is survived by her daughter Ana K. and her husband Victor Patane, Wall Township; and remembered as a cherished grandmother to Alexandra, Stephen, and Kristopher Patane.

Robert Schmitt
Wall Township resident Robert Schmitt died Saturday, March 26 in Care One, Wall Twp.
He was 77 years old.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he had lived in Fairway Mews, Spring Lake Heights before moving to Wall Township a year ago. Mr. Schmitt had been employed as an accountant prior to his retirement 14 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Catharine and St. Margaret Parish, Spring Lake.
Mr. Schmitt was predeceased by his sister Virginia Schmitt.
He is survived by many close friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 1 at 9:00 a.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Hwy 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall Township, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.
Visiting hours are Thursday, March 31 from 2 to 4 p.m and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home.
Martha Tobin
Jackson resident Martha Tobin, who has family in Brielle, died Monday, March 28 in the Laurelton Village Nursing Home, Brick Township.
She was 83 years old.
Born in New York, she resided in Paramus for 35 years before moving to Jackson in 1990.
Mrs. Tobin was predeceased by her husband Joseph Tobin and son Joseph Tobin, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Tom Yanok, Brielle; daughter Terry Bortz, Loveland, Ohio; five grandchildren, Kimberlee Frei, Sean Yanok, Alison Bortz, Max Bortz, and Jacob Bortz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church, Manasquasn, immediately followed by a gathering at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan.

Beatrice Morrison Day
Albuquerque, N.M. resident Beatrice Morrison Day, formerly of Wall Township, died Saturday, January 22 after a long illness.
She was 83 years old.
Born in Plainfield, she lived in Wall Twp. and Brick Township before moving to Albuquerque, N.M., four years ago. Mrs. Day was a homemaker and a licensed practical nurse, earning her certificate from Monmouth County Vocational School, Long Branch, in 1971, at the age of 50. She was a member of the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, Plainfield, and the First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan, and was a member of Presbyterian Women.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, at the First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan. Patricia Marie Krulikowski Fosdick
Wall Township resident Patricia Marie Krulikowski Fosdick died Wednesday, April 6 in the Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.
She was 58 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, she lived in York, Penn., before coming to Wall Twp. in 1986. Mrs. Fosdick was the owner and directress of the Chrismont Motessori Academy, Belmar. She was truly a dedicated teacher and a terrific mother.
She is survived by her daughters, Abigail, Newbury Park, Calif.; Maggie, New York City; Kate, Wall Twp; brother Ted Krulikowski, Long Branch; sister Carol Henry, Concord, Ohio; and six nieces, one nephew, five great-nieces and eight great-nephews.

Desiree Emilie Arena
Wall Township resident Desiree Emilie Arena died Thursday, April 7 in the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 95 years old.
Born in Weehawkin, Mrs. Arena had resided at the Jersey Shore for more than 40 years.
She was a homemaker and belonged to the St. Uriel The Archangel Episcopal Church, Sea Girt. Mrs. Arena was a member of the church’s Alter Guild. She was also a member of the Manasquan River Golf Club, Brielle, and did volunteer work for MCOSS.
Mrs. Arena was predeceased by her husband, Robert Arena.
She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Arena, New York City; and Desiree Arena, Belmar.

Josephine Bargella Shemanski
Manasquan resident Josephine Bargella Shemanski died Friday, April 8 in the Claremont Center, Point Pleasant.
She was 84 years old.
Born in Passaic, she lived in Kenilworth for 52 years before moving to Manasquan with her son. Mrs Shemanski worked for Keene Lighting before retiring in 1984. She was a parishioner of St. Theresa’s Church, Kenilworth, and a member of the churches Rosary Society and Novena. Mrs. Shemanski was a very caring and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She would always say during hard times that her family and friends were her pride and joy.
Mrs. Shemanski was predeceased by husband Joseph G; daughter Kathleen Bielecki; sister Helen Brunski; and brother Johnny Bargella.
She is survived by her son Daniel J. Shemanski and wife Terry, Manasquan; son-in-law Richard Bielecki, Verona; sister Violet Poremba, Plymouth, Penn.; and three grandchildren, Jaclyn, Daniel, and Christopher Shemanski.

Robert J. Stein
Manasquan resident Robert J. Stein died Thursday, April 7 in Flagler County Hospital, Palm Coast, Fla.
He was 77 years old.
Born in Newark, he lived in Kearney before moving to Manasquan in 1997. Mr. Stein owned the Marbo Truck Rental Company of Kearny for over 45 years, retiring in 1997. He was a former vice president of the A.A.R.P. of Manasquan and served with the Meals on Wheels of Monmouth County for many years.
Mr. Stein was predeceased by his wife Margaret Bleakley.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Caruso and husband Frank, Allenwood; Joanne Krozser and husband Arthur, Parsippany; four grandchildren, Alexa and Daniel Caruso, and Ryan and Eric Krozser; brother Mel Stein, Ga.; fiancee Katie Lenzner, Fla.; and dear friends Marily and Bill Forte, Brick Township.

Anna Maria Paxia
Brick Township resident Anna Maria Paxia, formerly of Wall Township, died Thursday, April 7 in the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 60 years old.
Born in Tripoli, Africa, Mrs. Paxia moved to Sicily, Italy in 1946, to the United States in 1956, to Wall Township in 1968, and to Brick Township in 2000. She retired after 25 years as a seamstress in Belmar and was a communicant of St. Rose Church, Belmar. Mrs. Paxia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bruno; son Gaetano Salvatore Paxia, Brick Township; daughter Rosanna Kepler and her husband Michael, Wall Township; brothers Roger Melazzo, Sicily and Robert Melazzo, Wall Township; sisters Franca Aurelio, Calif., and Lillian Bettina, Sicily; and granddaughter Mia Kepler.
