Patricia A. Cipollone

Wall Township resident Patricia A. Cipollone died Thursday, July 22 at home with her family.

She was 51 years old.

She was born in Brooklyn and live in Wall for the past 50 years.

Mrs. Cipollone was a piano teacher locally for over 20 years.

She was from the first graduating class at St. Denis School and then graduated from Wall High School.

She was a communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, Manasquan.

She is predeceased by her father, Dr. Joseph A. Russo Jr.

Surviving are her husband, Dominick; her children, Dominique Cipollone and Jacqueline Abrams, both of Wall and Sean Abrams of Ocean Township; her mother, Pearl Foley Russo of Wall and family friends, Richard, Christine, Beth and Adam Schock of Wall.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Memorials may be made to Caring Hospice Services, 525 Route 70 West, Suite B15, Lakewood, 08701.

Helen Wirth Bauer

Spring Lake resident Helen Wirth Bauer died Monday, July 26 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 74 years old.

Mrs. Bauer was an administrative secretary of the Public Works Department for South Brunswick Township for 22 years until her retirement in 1988.

She was a volunteer at the Princeton Medical Center from 1989 to 1996.

She was a member of St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Franklin Park, where she was the first president of the PTA from 1964 to 1966 and was the corresponding secretary to the New Brunswick region of the PTA from 1966 until 1968. She also was a member of the first parish council of St. Augustine.

Locally, Mrs. Bauer was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake.

Born in Bayonne, she lived in South Brunswick and Manasquan before moving to Spring Lake in 2003.

Mrs. Bauer is predeceased by her husband, W. Robert in 1965; her parents, Elmer and Mary Wirth; and three brothers, William, Elmer Jr. and Robert Wirth.

Surviving are her sons and daughters in law, Robert and Maureen of Hamilton Square, Thomas and Jackie of Manasquan; her daughter and son-in-law, Marybeth and Charles Michaud of North Port, Fla. and nine grandchildren, Robert, Ryan, Erin, Matthew, Bernadette, Austin, Ian, Shannon, and Spencer.

Funeral arrangements were made by the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Twila Coleen Betz

Belmar resident Twila Coleen Betz died Monday, July 26 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 69 years old.

She was born in Marietta, Ohio and moved to Belmar in November of 1959.

She retired in 1998 as a domestic engineer for Busy Bee Cleaners in Belmar after working there for fourteen years.

She was a member of the West Belmar United Methodist Church, and also attended the Wall Methodist Church in Spring Lake Heights.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lewis Richard Farmer in 1980 and Myrtle Mae Schwarz Farmer in 1941; one son, Richard Lewis Farmer; one brother, Irvin Richard Farmer and one sister, Charlotte Mae Farmer.

She was survived by her step-mother, Pauline Farmer of Marietta, Ohio; three daughters, Paula S. Betz whom she lived with, Melissa and Anthony Castelletti of Buffalo, NY, and Sondra Lee Holbert and James of Belpre, Ohio and two grandchildren, Clare and Michael Castelletti.

Funeral arrangements are by Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

Donations to the Belmar First Aid would be appreciated.

Joseph Pyanoe

Fredericksburg, Va., resident Joseph Pyanoe, formerly of Wall Township, died on Wednesday, July 21 after a short illness in Mary Washington Hospital, Va.

He was 27 years old.

Mr. Pyanoe was the head of the art department and the wrestling coach at Forge High School in Virginia. He was a sponsor of the National Art Honor Society and co-sponsor, with Lisa Renard, of the Molton Art Literary Magazine, all at Forge High School.

He was a USA Wrestling bronze level coach, a Team Virginia National team coach, and Women’s Director for Virginia-USA wrestling.

He graduated from Wall High School in 1994 and earned his bachelor of arts degree in art in 1998 at Lycoming College, Williamsport, Pa.

Surviving are his loving son of Dolores Pyanoe of Wall, Joseph Pyanoe, and his step-mother, Donna McKnight-Pyanoe of Brick; two brothers, Walter McKnight and James Frago; one sister, Dina Pyanoe; his maternal grandmother, Carmella Piscitelli, and close friends, Lisa Renard, Bill Swink, Mark Black, Jeremy McCommons, and their families.

Funeral arrangements were made by Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

Anna R. Naughton Maher

Shark River Hills resident Anna R. Naughton Maher died on Wednesday, July 21 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 72 years old.

Born in Jersey City, she was a long time resident of Spring Lake before moving to Shark River Hills.

Mrs. Maher was a homemaker and was deeply devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a Red Cross volunteer for many years and was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake.

She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel F. Maher; her sister, Shirley Walsh and her brother, Peter Naughton.

Surviving are her daughters, Colleen Wolleon, Kelly Maher and future son-in-law, Peter Donahue; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel F. and Christine Maher and Mark and Sandra Maher; her grandchildren, Erin Wolleon, Brian, Lauren and Caitlyn Sutton, Sean and Kelly Maher, and Michael and Adrian Bringe and her great-grandchild, Casey Steele.

She also leaves her brothers, Eugene and John Naughton, and her sister, Eileen Stevens.

Funeral arrangements are by the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Donations made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1250 Broadway, Suite 2001, N.Y., N.Y., 10001 would be appreciated.

Edna Mae Knaack

Manasquan resident Edna Mae Knaack died Tuesday, March 22 in the Ocean County Medical Center, Brick Township.

She was 88 years old.

Ms. Knaack, known as “Aunt Edna” to her family, was a high school math teacher working for the Jersey City Board of Education, Jersey City, for many years before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the 5th Ave. Baptist Chapel, Belmar, the Pioneers Girls, Belmar, the C.M.M.L., Wall, and was a contributor to many other local charities and organizations.

She is survived by her sister Ruth, N.H.; niece Ellen Stapchuck, South Cairo, NY; grand-nieces Kathy Connoly Smith, Freehold; Maureen Martone, Patti Shevlino, Carolyn Jones, Brick; Elizabeth Stapchuk, South Cairo, NY; grand-nephew Donald Stapchuk, South Cairo, NY; and a number of many beloved relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien’s Funeral Home, Wall Township.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her name to the Robert and Sean Smith Fund, 720 Park Ave., Freehold, 07728.

Doris M. Callaghan

Manasquan resident Doris M. (nee Boyle) Callaghan died Wednesday, March 23, in the Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick Township.

She was 86 years old.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Mrs. Callaghan lived in in Manasquan for the past 45 years. She was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan and had served as a Eucharistic minister. Mrs. Callaghan was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Denis, and had served as the Regent.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Martin; son Martin Jr., Chatham; and two granddaughters, Susan and Sharyn Callaghan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, April 9, at 9:30 a.m., St. Denis Church, Manasquan. No prior visiting. Entombment to follow in St. Catharine’s cemetery, Sea Girt.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the St. Denis Building Fund, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, 08736.

Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Theresa Mary Dora

Ocean Grove resident Theresa Mary Dora, formerly of Avon-by-the-Sea and Jersey City, died Thursday, March 24 in the Sea Care Center, Ocean Grove, after a short illness.

She was 89 years old.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Miss Dora moved to Avon in 1975 and to Francis Asbury Manor in Ocean Grove in 2000.

She retired in 1974 after many years as an executive secretary to the bank officers of The Chemical Bank, New York City. Miss Dora was a graduate of Egan’s Business School, a member of the Avon Leisure Citizens Club, a communicant of the Church of St. Elizabeth, Avon, and was an active member of the Alter & Rosary Society of the Church.

She is survived by her cousins, William D. Zirk and wife Virginia; Mary A. Schapker, husband Howard and daughters Alison and Carolyn; Patricia Haberman, husband William and son Jason; sister-in-law Theresa J. Dora; nieces Joan Dora; Mary Ann Wandell, husband Richard and daughter Heather.

Funeral services were from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

Alyce K. Shinn

Stuben, Maine resident Alyce K. Shinn, formerly of Manasquan, died Saturday, March 26 in her home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was 71 years old.

Born in Whitehouse, she grew up in Manaquan and graduated from Manasquan High School. Mrs. Shinn loved spending her time in North Eastern Coastal Maine, where she loved and watched over her husband, boys, and many visiting friends, keeping everyone in line.

Mrs. Shinn was predeceased by her sister, Jeanette VanPelt.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Marvin “Cap” Shinn; sons Douglas Shinn and wife Annemarie, Clayton; Harry “Buzzy” Shinn and wife, Esther, Milbridge; Charles Shinn, Weston, WV; grandchildren Jason, Maranda, Esther, Carl and Ben; brother Harry Dempsey, Brick; and special friends Mary Ciavatta and Brian Ball.

Funeral arrangements were from the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge.

Ella L. Hall

Belmar resident Ella L. Hall died Friday, March 25 in the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 75 years old.

Born in Asbury Park, she had lived in Belmar for the past 20 years.

Mrs. Hall attended the Glendola Bible Church, Wall. She is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Hope Chapel Baptist Church, Farmingdale. Mrs. Hall was a former president of the Harold Daley VFW Post 1333 Ladies Auxiliary, Asbury Park, and former district 6 president of the ladies auxiliary VFW. She is a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary 2639, Neptune.

Mrs. Hall was predeceased by her parents George and Cora Tomes; brother Fred Tomes; and sister Edna Gray.

She is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Harold C. and Lisa Hall; Raymond and Loretta Hall; Hazel and Don Acquavella; Edna and Tony Rinaldi; Nancy Jacobs; Carol Ann Stankovich; Lena and Joseph Dickinson; five brothers, Lester, Albert, George, Walter; and Richard Tomes; and sister Esther Hoover. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

Mary Cooper Mueller

Sea Girt resident Mary Cooper Mueller died Wednesday, March 23 in her home, after a lengthy illness.

She was 75 years old.

Born in Point Pleasant, she lived most of her life in Sea Girt and spent winters in Stuart, FL. Mrs. mueller was a homemaker and former bookkeeper for her family businesses, Quail Ride Golf World and Sea Watch rental properties. Before her marriage, she was a model for Steinbach’s and was a stenographer and legal secretary for Blair & Blair. She enjoyed league bowling and golfing and was a longtime member of the Manasquan River Golf Club. Mrs. Mueller was a member of the Holy Trinity Church, Manasquan.

Mrs. Mueller was predeceased by her parents, George and Helen Cooper, and daughter-in-law Melissa Mueller.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Richard Mueller; three children and their spouses, Richard Jr. and his wife Cassandra; Robert and his wife Debra; and Sharon Mueller Hauck and her husband Dwayne, all of Wall. She was the beloved grandmother of seven grandchildren, Vernon, Allen, Alyssa, and Allison Mueller, and Lindsay, Meredith, and Alaire Hauck. Mrs. Mueller is also survived by three sisters and their spouses, Florence and Walter Meseroll, Point Pleasant Beach; Lois and Raymond Hammell, Point Pleasant; and Linda and William Weitzell, Brick Township; five brothers and their spouses, George and Harriet Cooper, Beaufort, NC; Tom and Lynn Cooper, Point Pleasant; Robert and Ellen Cooper, Point Pleasant; Ralph and Carolyn Cooper, Bahama, NC; and Richard and Gerry Cooper, New Hope, PA. She had the blessing of loving and attentive caregivers Ouida Tuzeneu and Tsira Asatiani, for whom her family is very grateful.
