James Wrobel

Manasquan resident James R. Wrobel died Thursday, Sept. 2 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, after a long illness.

He was 44 years old.

Born in Plainfield, Mr. Wrobel lived most of his life in Millington until moving to Manasquan.

He is a graduate of Somerset County Vocational-Technical High School and became a self-employed contractor.

Mr. Wrobel is predeceased by his parents Ronald and Evelyn Wrobel.

Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law Leslie and John Ertl, Manasquan, and his brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Lori Wrobel, Warren. He is also survived by a nephew, nieces and several cousins,

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Patricia Louise Kellogg

Sun City, S.C., resident Patricia Louise Kellogg, who was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manasquan, died Friday, Sept. 3 surrounded by family in her final hours, following a courageous battle with an extended illness.

She was 72 years old.

Mrs. Kellogg earned a bachelor’s of science in elementary education from Franklin College, Ind., and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority continuing her membership for over 50 years. Her call as a teacher was marked by a dedicated career in elementary and special education.

After retiring in 1996, she received the Lion’s Club “Citizen of the Year” award for founding the Sun City Educational Focus Group. The program recruited over 300 volunteers from Sun City to serve in the local schools. Additionally, she volunteered on the specification committee for the Okatie Elementary School.

As devout spiritual being, her ministries included tenures as a deacon for the First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan, and an elder for the Lowcountry Presbyterian Church, Bluffton, S.C.

Mrs.Kellogg served many community organizations, one of which was the advisory board of the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. She was recently honored by the HHIPGA for her many years of volunteer service. She loved music and art and expressed her passion by singing as a charter member in the Sun City Chorus.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Lawrence; her sister Sue Ann Farthing; four children Cynthia, John and his wife Deena, Todd, and David and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton, S.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to either the Lowcountry Presbyterian Church, 10 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, S.C., 29910 or to the Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, 20 Palmetto Parkway, Suite 104, Hilton Head, S.C., 29926.

Charlene Richards Jennings

Rockaway Beach, Queens, resident Charlene Richards Jennings, formerly of Belmar, died Monday, Sept. 6 in her home in New York.

She was 38 years old.

Born in Neptune, Miss Jennings lived in Belmar before moving to New York.

She is a graduate of Belmar Elementary School and Manasquan High School. She attended Pace University, New York City. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Belmar.

While living in New Jersey she was a beauty consultant for Lancome at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown. Currently she was a counselor for Social Services in New York.

Miss Kellogg was predeceased by her father Walter B. Richards, and her step-father William H. Brown III.

She is survived by her mother Katherine Richards Brown; three sisters and two brothers-in-law Gail and Herb Kelsey, Kathy and Michael Henriques, and Sharon Richards; two brothers and their wives Walter and Alicia Richards, and Gary and Bernadine Richards; four aunts; two uncles; 13 nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were from Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

William McGraw

Wall Township resident William J. McGraw died Tuesday, Sept. 8 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was 77 years old.

Born and raised in Bayonne, he moved to Spring Lake in 1969 and lived there for 32 years before moving to Wall in 2001.

Mr. McGraw was a graduate of the Peddie School, Hightstown, and attended Seton Hall University, Rutgers Law School, and Texas A&M University.

He was employed as the director of emergency services for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, New Brunswick, retiring in 1989. He was then a special investigator for Catlaw Associates in Red Bank for five years.

He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a life member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge 2534; the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Trenton; the Friendly Sons of Shillelagh, Old Bridge; the American Legion Post 432, Spring Lake, and the 200 Club of Monmouth County.

Mr. McGraw had a lifelong passion for golf. He loved music, and was known for his quick wit and the telling of a good old story.

Mr. McGraw is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Gertrude McGraw; son William, Toms River; four daughters Luann McGraw-Russell and her husband Jay, Manasquan; Jane McGraw and her husband Rich Teubner, East North Port, N.Y.; Laurie McGraw, South Belmar and Jacqueline Roseman and her husband Greg, Springfield, Va. He also leaves nine grandchildren Chris, Colin, Brynn, and Meredith Carhart, Keara, Connor Shauna, and Ian McGraw and Katie Roseman.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

William Camarata

Sea Girt resident Judge William J. Camarata, formerly of Verona and Spring Lake, died Monday, Sept. 13 in Sunnyside Manor, Wall Township.

Born in Bloomfield, he was raised in Montclair and lived in Verona before coming to Spring Lake in 1989, and Sea Girt in 1993.

Judge Camarata retired from the bench in 1978 as a New Jersey Superior Court Judge in Newark. He graduated from Verona High School, and formed a dance band to earn money to put himself through New Jersey Law School, now Rutgers University School of Law. He was admitted to practice in 1930 and formed the law firm of Camarata, Collona, and Reichstein in Montclair. He served as police magistrate from 1938 to 1942, borough attorney from 1942 to 1945 and 1948 to 1961, and served as a councilman from 1947 to 1948, all in Verona. He served as a member of President Eisenhower’s Committee on Refugees in 1959, and was a trustee of Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona.

Judge Camarata was a well respected and compassionate judge having many opinions published. He was known affectionately as “Grump” although he was anything but that. He was a loving, devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was loved and will be sorely missed by a multitude of people who will agree that this world is a better place because of him.

Judge Camarata was predeceased by his wife the former Viola Allen in 1992, his sisters Rose Camarata, Mary Sampier, Helen Durborow, and his brothers Andy and Frank.

He is survived by his daughter Mary Lou Lytle and her husband John, Sea Girt; four grandchildren and their spouses, Joe and Joan Lytle, Wall, Denise and Fred Muniz, Colorado, Lisa and Jim Margl, Sea Girt, and Paul and Carol Lytle, Florida; five great-grandchildren Rafi, Billy, Connie, Debbie and Eric, and great great-grandchild Gavin. He also leaves two brothers Carlton “Kelly”, Verona, and Salvatore “Tutti”, California.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Clayton Kubu

Manasquan resident Clayton E. Kubu died Monday, Sept. 13 in his home after a long illness.

He was 80 years old.

Born in New Bedford, Mass., Mr. Kubu resided in Rahway before moving to Manasquan in 1972.

He was a sheet metal mechanic for Westfield Sheet Metal, Kenilworth, for 35 years. After retiring he found his perfect job as a starter at Spring Meadow Golf Course, Allaire, for ten years. He was member of the Manasquan Elks, The Purple Heart Association, and Sheet Metal Workers Local #22.

Mr. Kubu was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, receiving a Purple Heart in Guam.

He is predeceased by his parents Oslav and Eva Kubu, his brother Milton and his sister Katherine.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years Audrey Comer Kubu; his son and daughter-in-law Greg and Nancy Kubu, Virginia Beach; daughters and sons-in-law Jodie and Michael Luciano, Brielle, and Pamela and Carl Fireline, Dumfries, Va.; his sister Frances Campbell, Manasquan; grandchildren Scott Priestly, Kristen and Lance Jones, Lindsey Priestly, Victoria Kubu, Carlyn Fireline, Cameron and Peter Hoag and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Rosemarie Clancy

Wall Township resident Rosemarie A. Clancy, formerly of Jersey City and North Arlington, died Friday, Sept. 10 in the Mediecenter, Neptune City.

She was 75 years old.

Born, raised and educated in Jersey City, she is a graduate of St. Aloysius High School, Class of ‘46. She received her bachelor’s of art degree in English from St. Joseph University, Philadelphia, in 1969.

Miss Clancy was a management analyst for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Department in New York City for many years and completed her 30 years of government service at Picatinny Arsenal, retiring in 1996. She relocated to Wall the same year.

She loved life at the shore. She was a member of the Belmar Woman’s Club serving as “The Sunshine Lady”, the Primetimers and the Rosary Altar Society of St. Rose, Belmar, where she was also a communicant and a participant in the scripture class.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed the theater. She took great pleasure in her family and her extended family.

Miss Clancy was predeceased by her parents Frank and Rosemarie Clancy and her brother Frank Clancy, who passed away in March of 2004.

She is survived by her sister Mrs. Patricia Scully Brigantine, her brother Joseph Clancy, Florida, 12 nephews and nieces and 14 grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the McDonough Funeral Home, Belmar.

Karen Timm

Wall Township resident Karen Ann Timm died Monday, Sept. 13 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 56 years old.

Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Timm has resided in Wall since 1978.

She worked at Timm’s Variety, Manasquan, for 28 years.

Mrs. Timm is survived by her husband of 36 years Ron Timm; two sons Brian Timm and Michael Timm, both of Wall; one daughter Rachel Mullin, Portland, Ore.; two brothers Raymond Popp and John Popp; two sisters Linda Popp and Kelly Popp and grandchildren Nathanial, Garret and Paige.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Audrey Stewart

Brielle resident Audrey C. Stewart died Monday, Sept. 13 in her home.

She was 71 years old.

Born in Bloomfield, she resided there and in Newark, before moving to Brielle in 1961.

Mrs. Stewart is a graduate of Bloomfield High School and attended Morgan State University, Baltimore, Md.

She was employed at Macy’s in Eatontown for 17 years.

She was an Air Force service wife for 17 years and a member of the Woman’s Club of Brielle.

Mrs. Stewart was predeceased by her mother Marjorie Taylor Moore Van Dyke; step father Harry Van Dyke; her father Herbert Moore and brothers H. Spencer Moore and Edwin Moore.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years Russell D. Stewart; son and daughter-in-law Dale and Ethel Stewart, Center Ossippee, N.H.; daughter and son-in-law Ronda and Michael Tolbert, Novi, Mich.; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Marisol Stewart, Jackson; daughter Sharon Stewart, Old Bridge, and son Phillip Stewart, Brielle. She leaves 18 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Richard McCarthy

Sun City Center, Fla. resident Dr. Richard McCarthy, who practiced pediatrics in Manasquan and Brielle for 30 years, died Saturday, Sept. 11 under the care of hospice.

He was 76 years old.

Born in Elizabeth, he attended Seton Hall Prep, South Orange, and Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Brooklyn. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and practiced pediatrics for 30 years. He retired to Sun City Center in 1988.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Anne’s Church, Ruskin, Fla.

Dr. McCarthy is survived by his wife of 55 years Betty Ann Kelly McCarthy; seven children, Mary and her husband Howard Richman, Medfield, Mass., Joan and her husband Arthur Weglein, East Stroudsburg, Pa., Denis and his wife Ann, McAlester, Okla., Clare and her husband Edward Carr, Wall Township, Neil and his wife Isabel, Bradenton, Fla., Ellen and her husband Glenn Love, Greenville, S.C., Paul and his wife Suzanne, Waldorf, Md.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the Lewers Funeral Home, Ruskin, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association, Florida Chapter, 5005 W. Laurel Street, Suite 110, Tampa, FL, 33607.
