Wendy Smith
Wall Township resident Wendy Gay Ruben Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 14 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 39 years old.
Born and raised in Point Pleasant, she had lived in Belmar for one year before moving to Wall 15 years ago.
Mrs. Smith was employed for the past 15 years as a secretary with the Army Corps of Engineers in East Brunswick.
She was a life member of the Glendola Fire Company, Ladies Auxiliary and was currently serving as the president.
She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach, where she was married 16 years ago and had also received her sacraments.
She was a devoted mother to her two young daughters and a loving wife and daughter.
Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her father Walter Ruben.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Smith; two daughters, Darcy and Karly Smith, both at home; her mother, Nancy Ruben, Point Pleasant, and her brother and his wife, Andrew and Nancy Ruben, Naples, Fla.
Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Cheryl A. Sullivan
Bradley Beach resident Cheryl A. Sullivan died Wednesday, Sept. 15 after fighting a courageous fight in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 56 years old.
Born in Florida, she was raised in North Arlington, and lived in Jersey City and Bayonne before relocating to Bradley Beach in 1996.
Mrs. Sullivan was a social worker for the Division of Youth and Family Services in Jersey City and Bayonne for 17 years. She also worked as a social worker for the Division of Welfare in Hudson County for seven years.
She was a very kind person, an avid reader and loved her cats.
Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her husband of 14 years, George Sullivan, Bradley Beach; two stepsons, George Sullivan III, Manalapan, and Sean Sullivan, Bayonne; two stepdaughters, Katherine Major, Bayonne, and Shannon Pullaro, East Brunswick, and step grandson and granddaughter, Joseph and Courtney Major.
Funeral arrangements were from the Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan.

Josephine Adcock
Avon-by-the-Sea resident Josephine Adcock died Friday, Sept. 17 in the Neptune Rehabilitation and Care Center, Neptune.
She was 88 years old.
Born in Avon in 1915, she lived there all of her life.
Mrs. Adcock was a homemaker and expert seamstress.
She is survived by her son, William Adcock and her daughter, Joanne Adcock, both of Avon. Also surviving are her three grandchildren, Lynne Ann Adcock Brown, Cathy Marie Adcock and Paul William Adcock, all of Bradley Beach.

Edwin D. Sharpless
Wall Township resident Dr. Edwin Dallett Sharpless, formerly of Elwyn, Pa., died Thursday, Sept. 16 in his home.
He was 93 years old.
Dr. Sharpless was a graduate of Hahnemann Medical School. He retired in 1981 as a surgeon associated with General Surgery Associates at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
Dr. Sharpless was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Anderson Sharpless, and his second wife, Pauline Darby Sharpless.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted daughter, Noel Gay Wittenberg, Wall, and a son, Karl Barry Sharpless, La Jolla, Calif.
He was the beloved grandfather of Heidi and Krista Wittenberg, Wall, Hannah Sharpless Graff, Brighton, Mass., and Will and Ike Sharpless, La Jolla, Calif.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dr. Sharpless’ life celebration on Friday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 16 Virginia Avenue, Manasquan.

Willett A. Rhodes
Manasquan resident Willett Albert Rhodes died Thursday, Sept. 16 in the presence of his family.
He was 74 years old.
Born in Paterson, he was raised in Hawthorne and Trenton before coming to Matawan in 1964 and Manasquan in 1999.
He was a long time realtor in Monmouth County and was a lifetime member of the New Jersey Association of Realtors Distinguished Sales Club.
Mr. Rhodes is predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Beth Rhodes, in 1974.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Barbara Rhodes; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jerrie Lynn Rhodes; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Douglas Veivia and five grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren, Olivia, Audrey, and Alexander.

Virginia Moore
Manasquan and Montclair resident Virginia “Babe” Moore died Monday, Sept. 20 after a brief illness peacefully in the home of her mother, surrounded by her family.
She was 52 years old.
Born in Scranton, Pa., she was raised in Manasquan, graduating from Manasquan High School in 1970. She moved to Montclair where she resided for 25 years.
Ms. Moore was a principal at North American Move Consultants in Hoboken.
She was predeceased by her father, James A. Moore.
Ms. Moore is survived by her mother, Helen “Bunty” Casey Moore; four sisters, Muffet Heebe, Peggy Condron, Martha Benson, and Mary Anne Forrester and five brothers, Jim, Joe, Clark, Scott, and Casey Moore. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved and cherished her.
A mass of the resurrection will be offered at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, today at 11 a.m. Committal will be private.

George J. Smith
Woodbridge, Va., resident George Jude Smith, formerly of Spring Lake Heights, died Sunday, Sept. 19 in Marion Manor Home, Stafford, Va.
He was 86 years old.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he was a graduate of St. Bridget’s School and St. Peter’s Prep, both Jersey City. He later lived in Spring Lake Heights for 16 years before moving to Woodbridge, Va., five years ago.
Mr. Smith was an industrial engineer at Bendix Corporation, Teterboro.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a prisoner of war in Stalag 17-B Prison Camp in Austria after his plane was shot down. For his meritous service he received three Air Medals and a Purple Heart.
He was a communicant of St. Catharine’s and St. Margaret’s Parish, Spring Lake, and was a passionate golfer.
Mr. Smith was predeceased by his wife, Frances Gallagher Smith on July 17, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, George Jr. and Jeanne Smith Jr., Woodbridge, Va., and Thomas Smith, Belmont, Calif.; daughter Mary and William Amberg, Spring Lake, and seven grandchildren Courtney, Michael, Caitlin, and Kelly Smith, and Gretchen and Kiersten Amberg.
The funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 24 at 8:45 a.m. from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake. Visiting is Thursday 4-7 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Interment will be at St. Catharine’s cemetery, Wall.

Agnes R. Marhan
Manasquan resident Agnes Rose Marhan died Saturday, Sept. 18 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
She was 97 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Marhan resided in Linden for many years. She summered in Manasquan before moving here permanently in 1968.
Mrs. Marhan participated in the Melrose games and played semiprofessional basketball and track for teams sponsored by the Weston Corporation [now Western Electric], Jersey City. She also played on the original 1934 Linden Arians softball team.
During World War II, she was an active volunteer with the Red Cross. She was a member and past governor of the Moose Lodge, Linden.
Three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Marhan were honored at a special Mass at St. Denis Church celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Marhan is survived by her husband, Anton Marhan; daughter and son-in-law, Elsie and Ernest Blanchette, Scotch Plains; son and fiance, Anthony Marhan and Pamela Rawson, North Long Branch; grandchildren, Barbara Richards, Le Grange, Ill., Carol Blanchette, Santa Barbara, Calif., Peter Marhan, West Palm Beach, Fla., Paul Marhan, Glen Ridge, Matthew Marhan, Long Branch, and Melissa Marhan, Belle Mead, and great grandchildren, Robert, Emily, Shannon, Megan, Kyle, Hunter, Dakota, Spencer, and Shayne Marhans, and Colleen, Evan, and Lillian Richards.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 9:30 a.m. at St. Denis Church, Manasquan.

Thomas R. Hundley
Sea Girt resident Thomas Richard Hundley died Friday, Sept. 17 in Dover Township.
He was 38 years old.
Born in Point Pleasant, Mr. Hundley was a lifelong resident of Sea Girt. He was a graduate of Manasquan High School, where he played football and wrestled. He was a self-employed contractor.
Mr. Hundley is predeceased by his father, Thomas S. Hundley, who died in 1976 and his sister, Kelly Hundley, who died in 1985.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Patricia Hundley Ratz and Albert “ Sandy” Ratz, Sea Girt; sister, Judy Hundley Cummings, New York; grandmother, Alyce Rhody, Bordentown, and grandmother, Barbara Ratz, Sea Girt.
He also leaves behind the Cummings family of New Jersey and New York City, the Shenowski family of Columbus and North Carolina, the Joule family of Sea Girt an Brick Township, the Murphy family of Sea Girt, family in Florida and very close family of friends.

Dave Pasick
Wall Township resident Dave R. Pasick died Monday, Sept. 13 suddenly from an aggressive form of meningitis in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 13 years old.
Born in Brick Township, he lived in Wall for six years.
Dave was a member of the Orthodox Christian Church of the Annunciation, Brick, and very involved in children activities there. He was a boy scout in Troop 82, Allenwood. He played baseball in South Wall, North Wall Little Leagues, and also played basketball in the Wall Recreation program. Dave played the saxophone in the school band. He loved to surf, skateboard, and play the guitar.
He is survived by his parents Richard and Olga Fedorow Pasick, Wall; his paternal grandparents Helen and Walter Patrylo, Roselle Park; his maternal grandparents George and Maria Fedorow, Howell, and a sister and brother Christina and Luke Pasick, both of Wall. He is also survived by three uncles Edward Pasick, Brick, Walter Patrylo, Union, and Alex Fedorow and a cousin Marissa Pasick, Brick.
Funeral of the Divine Liturgy will be at the Orthodox Christian Church of the Annunciation, Brick, Thursday 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church. Interment will be in St. Vladimir’s Russian Orthodox cemetery, Jackson.
