Estelle M. Herrmann
Wall Township resident Estelle M. McKeever Herrmann died Friday, Nov. 5 in the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 82 years old.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Herrmann lived in Deerfield Beach, Fla., before coming to Wall 11 years ago.
She was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Herrmann was predeceased by her husband, George William Herrmann in 1966.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Herrmann, Matawan, and her daughters, Pamela Susan Otterberg, Wall, and Dawne Karyn Keegan, Castle Rock, Wash. She also leaves four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.
Louis “Louie” Settimi
Spring Lake Heights resident Louis “Louie” Settimi died Friday, Nov. 5 in his residence in the company of his loving family.
He was 80 years old.
Born and raised in Grindstone, Pa., he had lived in Neptune before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1966.
Mr. Settimi had been employed as a salesman for many years, working for Premier Beer Company and then for his family business Pat’s Beverage Company, Ocean Township, before retiring ten years ago.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Catholic War Veteran’s, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Post No. 714, Asbury Park, and a communicant of St. Catharine’s and St. Margaret’s Parish, Spring Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary “Mae” Settimi and his two brothers, Emilio, of Uniontown, Pa., and Sam, of Ocean Township.
Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.
Clara C. Whipple
Avon-by- the-Sea resident Clara C. Whipple died Saturday, Nov. 6 in the Medi-Center in Neptune City.
She was 89 years old.
Born and raised in Jersey City, she lived there before coming to Avon in 1951.
Mrs. Whipple had been employed as a medical secretary before retiring in 1968.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church, Avon, and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She was also a member of Avon Leisure Club and was a past member of the Avon Library Board.
Mrs. Whipple was predeceased by her husband, James T. Whipple in 1996, her sister, Ann Cassels, and her brothers, David Cassels and Msgr. John Cassels.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Beth Murphy, Avon, Joanne Wosnitzer, Oceanport, and Ellen Sheeser, Long Branch and her son, James T. Whipple Jr., Tinton Falls. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Clifford A. Farren
Belmar resident Clifford A. Farren died Sunday, Nov.7 in his home after a long bout with cancer and Parkinson’s Disease.
He was 70 years old.
Born in Long Branch, he lived in Spring Lake before moving to Belmar shortly after marrying Margaret “Peggy” Mahon, where they have lived for over 40 years.
Mr. Farren was the co-owner and president of Farren Fuel Co. Inc., Belmar until he retired in 1997.
He was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Belmar. He attended Villanova University and graduated from St. Bonaventure University, Olean, N.Y.
He was a member of the Manasquan Elks and St. Anthony Guild and was a supporter of the Right to Life organization. He served in the Unites States National Guard and was an active member of the St. Rose Parish Council and the Belmar Fishing Club.
Mr. Farren served as a coach of Belmar recreation basketball and little league baseball. He enjoyed many years of running and bicycling through Belmar and Spring Lake, fishing at the Belmar Fishing Club and playing with his grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the New York Jets and the New York Mets and the Monmouth Hawks. He was a loving father and friend to many.
Mr. Farren was predeceased by his parents, Gertrude and G. Arthur Farren, and one brother, G. Arthur Farren Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Margaret “Peggy” Farren; two sons and their wives, Clifford A. Farren Jr. and Jody, of St. David’s, Pa., and Chris and Meg Farren, of Brielle; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and John Pouso, of Little Silver, Colleen and Tom Reilly and Denise and Dave Calloway, all of Belmar, and 11 grandchildren, Clifford III “Trip”, Margot, Patrick, Sean and Summer Farren, John, Michael and Kelly Pouso, Madigan, Shane, and Keara Reilly and David Calloway.
He also leaves two sisters and brothers-in-laws, Patricia and Richard Heine, of Spring Lake, Mary and Dr. John McGreevey, Huntingdon Valley, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law, the Honorable Michael D. and Betsy Farren, of Spring Lake, and sister-in-law Angela Farren, of Spring Lake Heights.
Funeral arrangements were from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

Richard F. Petty
Brielle resident Richard F. Petty died Tuesday, Oct. 19 in his niece’s home in Nanuet, N.Y.
He was 56 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Brielle for the past 25 years.
Mr. Petty was a science teacher at Brick Memorial High School. He had a master’s degree in science.
Mr. Petty is survived by a sister, Patricia A. Seyfried, Congers, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Carol Petty, Scottsdale, Ariz., and seven nieces and nephews, Patti Davis, Barbara Elmendorf, Richard Seyfried, Karen Zurla, Linda Rossini, Raymond Petty, Scott Petty and their families.
Funeral arrangements were from the Armitage Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Abbas “Abe” Rezvan
Brielle resident Abbas “Abe” Rezvan died Wednesday, Oct. 20 in his residence.
He was 63 years old.
Born in Tehran, Iran, Mr. Rezvan came to the United States in 1966 and lived in Manasquan for many years before moving to Brielle 15 years ago.
Mr. Rezvan was a director of food service at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft as well as an adjunct professor of business at the college.
Mr. Rezvan received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Upsala College, East Orange, and obtained his master’s degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutherford, and then graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York.
He was a member of the Road Runners Association of New York and New Jersey and participated in several marathons including New York and Boston.
Mr. Rezvan is survived by his wife, Millie Marzigliano; son, Timothy, New York; daughter, Catharine Krier, Manahawkin and step-daughter, Linda Simone, Staten Island, N.Y. He also leaves behind three beloved granddaughters, Moira, Olivia, and Victoria.

Anne T. Hickey
Neptune resident Anne T. Hickey, formerly of Spring Lake and New York City, died Wednesday, Oct. 13 in Neptune Rehabilitation Care Center.
She was 90 years old.
Ms. Hickey was born, raised, and educated in New York where she was later employed in the public relations department of ITT’s corporate offices, retiring in 1965.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Anna Walsh Hickey, and her brother, Terence.
A Mass will be celebrated at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the Interment Calvary cemetery, Long Island.

William F. Peckrul
Belmar resident William F. Peckrul died Monday, Oct. 18 in the New Jersey Veteran’s Home, Menlo Park.
He was 88 years old.
Born in Newark, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941, after graduating from Bloomfield High School.
Mr. Peckrul was a retired Army Major serving in the military for 28 years.
He was assigned to the cadre at Camp Adair in Albany, Oregon, and went on to be the executive officer and commander of Company M, 381st Infantry Division serving serving in the Philippines and Okinawa during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. Upon separation at Ft. Monmouth on March 5, 1946 he joined the 50th Armored Division, New Jersey National Guard remaining active until his retirement as a Major on August 9, 1969.
He was a member of the National and State of New Jersey Retired Officers Associations, Cumberland Lodge No. 12 Freemasons of New Gloucester, Maine, the VFW Post 8868 of Brick Township and the Belmar Fishing Club. He and his wife retired to Belmar in 1988.
Mr. Peckrul was predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 1988.
He is survived by his two sons, James Peckrul, Stanwood, Mich., and Robert Peckrul, Harrisburg, Penn.; grandchildren, Fred and Karen Peckrul, Van Buren, Mich., and Robert and Lisa Peckrul, both of Atlanta, Ga.
Funeral arrangements were fro the Armitage Funeral Home, Wall Township.
Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association of the N.J. Veteran’s Home, Menlo Park, would be appreciated.
Helen Vitale
Avon-by-the-Sea resident Helen Vitale died Monday, Oct. 25 in the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 91 years old.
Born in Austria, she came to the United States in 1915 settling in Paterson for 50 years, before moving to Avon 40 years ago.
Mrs. Vitale was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Avon. She enjoyed to travel with her husband and family and loved to take care of her home and animals especially her dog, Missy.
She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Vitale is survived by her husband, Louis, of 65 years; daughters, Carole Vitale, Avon, and Virginia Supple, North Carolina; granddaughters, Linda Vitale and Debbie Fischer; great-grandson, Alex, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be from on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the O’ Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s, Avon. Burial will be at St. Catharine’s cemetery, Sea Girt.
Violetta A. Kocsis
West Long Branch resident Violetta A. Kocsis, whose daughter lives in Brielle, died Thursday, Oct. 21 in St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, following a courageous battle with a long term illness.
She was 84 years old.
She was born Sept. 25, 1920, in Brooklyn to the late Joseph and Catherine Corso. In the 1940s, Mrs. Kocsis sang on the radio and graduated from Pratt Institute, School of Fashion Design. In 1959, Mrs. Kocsis and her husband, Ernest, moved to West Long Branch. She was involved in the community and was a member of the Friends of West Long Branch Library and The Jean Conroy Auxiliary of Monmouth Medical Center. Her favorite expression was “okey, dokey,” and up to the end she was just that.
She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Ernest Kocsis; son, Cornelius Kocsis; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Mayor “Tucker” Nicol, Brielle; two granddaughters, Amanda Nicol and Lia Nicol, and a sister, Mary DiStefano.
Funeral arrangements were from the Worden-Hoidal Funeral Home, Oakhurst.
