Helen Cochran Schworm
Brielle resident Helen Cochran Schworm died Sunday, Nov. 28 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
She was 85 years old.
Born in Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Schworm has resided here since 1963. She was a longtime member of St. Uriel the Archangel Church, Sea Girt, the Manasquan River Yacht Club, the Brielle Woman’s Club and Family and Children’s Services. She was a great hostess.
Mrs. Schworm was predeceased by her husband, Sprague Schworm, in 1976.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Martin Poole, New York City.
Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Dorothy E. Magee
Manasquan resident Dorothy E. Magee died Monday, Nov. 29 in Neptune Rehabilitation and Care Center, Neptune.
She was 87 years old.
Born in Asbury Park, Mrs. Magee worked with the American Red Cross during World War II.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert O. Magee, in 1998.
Mrs. Magee is survived by two sons, Robert O. Magee Jr., Manasquan, and Michael Magee, Old Lyme, Conn.; daughter, Susan Magee Grizzard, Reddick, Fla.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in Atlantic View cemetery, Manasquan. There are no calling hours.

Rosemary G. Lynch
Brielle resident Rosemary G. Lynch died Wednesday, Nov. 17 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was 67 years old.
Born in Passaic, Mrs. Lynch had lived in Teaneck and then in Allenhurst for 18 years, before moving to Spring Lake in 1973, where she resided until moving to Brielle six years ago. During her life she has touched the lives of all who knew her.
Mrs. Lynch had been employed as a teacher for the Deal Board of Education and later had worked as a substitute teacher for Deal and Manasquan Board of Education. She was an alumnae of the College of New Rochelle and a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan.
She was predeceased by her father, Theodore Gotsch, and her brother, Charles Gotsch.
Mrs. Lynch is survived by her son, Thomas and wife, Mollie, of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Rosemary E. Lynch, Jersey City, Elizabeth and her husband, Charles King, of London, and Michele Lynch, Brielle; mother, Rosemary C. Gotsch, Annapolis, Md.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Theodore and Odette Gotsch, Huntington Beach, Calif., James and Barbara Gotsch, Severna Park, Md., Donna Gotsch, Tampa, Fla., David and Patricia Lynch, New Rochelle, N.Y., Dennis Lynch, Oceanside, N.Y., Marianne and James Nordhausen, Bay Shore, N.Y., and two beloved granddaughters, Megan and Mary Katherine.

Blanche Curcio
Wall Township resident Blanche Curcio died Wednesday, Nov. 17 in her home.
She was 80 years old.
Born in Manhattan, Mrs. Curcio lived in the Bronx, Howell Township and Port Orange, Fla., for 20 years before moving back to New Jersey two years ago.
Mrs. Curcio liked bingo and loved trips to Atlantic City. She was a terrific homemaker and mother. She loved flowers and to dance and she had amazing stamina.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 2000.
Mrs. Curcio is survived by three sons, Richard Sansone, Beachwood, Thomas Sansone, of Georgia, and Nicholas Curcio, Toms River; two daughters, Geraldine Polhemus with whom she lived, and Susan Stuller, of Orange, Texas; one brother, Bruno Chiesa, Hackettstown; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ellen M. Armstrong
Wall Township resident Ellen M. Armstrong died Wednesday, Nov. 17 in the Laurelton Village Nursing Home, Brick Township.
She was 92 years old.
Born in Detroit, Mich., she lived in Leonia before moving to Wall in 1965.
Mrs. Armstrong was a homemaker and a former ice skater with the Peerless Skating Club. She was a former opera singer at Radio City Music Hall and was a member of the Manasquan River Artist Group.
Her husband, Robert S. Armstrong was the owner of the Armstrong & Son Company, of Wall, before his death in 1987.
Mrs. Armstrong is survived by a son, Robert S. Armstrong, and daughter, Linda Pietsch, both of Wall, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Henrietta “Mickey” Carroll
Jackson resident Henrietta “Mickey” Carroll, whose son and daughter-in-law reside in South Belmar, died Wednesday, Nov. 17 in The Orchards at Bartley Manor, Jackson.
She was 87 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Carroll had lived in Matawan as a child and then lived in Brick Township for five years before moving to Jackson three year ago. She was a homemaker.
She was a former communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Jersey City, and later of Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington.
Mrs. Carroll was predeceased by her husband, Eugene R. Carroll, in 1989.
She is survived by her daughter, Maureen J. Carroll, Washington, D.C.; her son and his wife, Thomas E. and Kathleen Carroll, South Belmar; brother, Frank Loscoe, Howell; two sisters, Mary Smith, of New Jersey, and Matilda DeBlasio, of Berkley Heights; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Charles Sylvester Sr.
Belmar resident Charles Anthony Sylvester Sr. died Thursday, Nov. 18 in Vero Beach, Fla.
He was 74 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Sylvester grew up in Manasquan and Spring Lake. He was a life long resident of the Jersey Shore.
Mr. Sylvester attended Manasquan High School were he was a member of the varsity football and baseball teams. He graduated from Asbury Park High School and joined the U.S. Air Force. He worked for the U.S. government as a rigger. He also worked for NJ Bell for 35 years. After retiring he started his own telecommunications business.
Mr. Sylvester was a former coach of the South Wall Little League and Belmar Babe Ruth. He is a past president of the Wall Township Democratic Club. He is one of the founding members of the Jerry Lynch Social and Athletic Club. Mr. Sylvester was also a parade starter for the first eight years of the Belmar St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
He was a member of the Belmar Elks, the Asbury Elks, the Friendly Sons of Shileahe, Belmar, St. Rose Knights of Columbus and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers [IBEW] No. 827 where he served as the union delegate for many years. He also played Jersey Shore league baseball for 20 years. Mr. Sylvester was an avid golfer who enjoyed time on the golf course with his wife, friends and son.
Mr. Sylvester was predeceased by his brother, John Sylvester.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Sylvester; a son and his wife, Charles and Gail, Neptune City; son, Joseph, of Pennsylvania; daughter and her husband, Ann and Tim Warren, New Bern, N.C.; daughter and her husband, Marybeth and John Niciewski, Spring Lake Heights; daughter and her husband, Ann and Tim Warren; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step--children, Maureen, Schutz, Sally Madigan, William Madigan, Georgine Stoner and John Stoner and beloved mother-in-law, Francis Paduano.

Peter Francis Ryan
Spring Lake resident Peter Francis Ryan died Friday, Nov. 19 in Hoboken.
He was 30 years old.
Born in Neptune, Mr. Ryan moved to Spring Lake in 1979.
Mr. Ryan was a graduate of H. W. Mountz School, Spring Lake, Manasquan High School, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Seton Hall Law School, Newark. He practiced with the law firm of Netchert, Dineen and Hillman, Jersey City, for the past four years and had also served his internship with the firm.
He enjoyed music, art, archaeology, law and his family and friends. He was a beloved grandchild, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.
Mr. Ryan was predeceased by his grandparents, Frank and Trudie Ryan, Peter J. Flood and his uncle, Richard Flood.
He is survived by his grandmother, Mildred M. Flood, Manchester; his parents, Betsy and Frank Ryan, Spring Lake; brother, Patrick J., of Charlotte, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and John Marion and his niece, Lilly Elizabeth Marion, Howell.
He was the beloved nephew of Kathy and Rich Ambos and the Floods, the Rev. Monsignor Peter J., John, Dr. Francis and Karen, Dennis, Thomas, Robert and Susan. He is also survived by his cousins, Nate, Matt, and Quincy Ambos who were more like brothers than cousins. Other surviving cousins are Jonathan, Nicol, Jessica, Whitney, Rohry, P.J., Justin, James, Jason, Jessica, Savannah and Robert Sean.

Robert Bernard Feeley
Sea Girt resident Robert Bernard Feeley, formerly of Jersey City, died Thursday, Nov. 18 in the Medical Center of Ocean County.
He was 80 years old.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he had lived there until moving to Sea Girt 18 years ago.
Mr. Feeley was the owner and broker of the JR Insurance Brokergae, Jersey City, and later in Wall Township until retiring in 1990. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan, and while he lived in Jersey City he was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Mr. Feeley was predeceased by his sister, Mary Perratt, and a son-in-law, Richard Hall.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen M. Barry Feeley; daughters and their spouses, Judith and John Tennissen, Wall Township, Patricia and Mark Rowan, Manasquan, Donna Hall, Westchester, N.Y., Marybeth and John Moran, Belleville, Ellen Marie and Paul Celestine, of Middletown, and Maureen and Robert Conley, Howell; two brothers, the Rev. Sylvester Feeley CSsR, of Brooklyn, and John Feeley, of Linden; two sisters, Elizabeth McCann, Jersey City and Veronica Haegen, Lakewood; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Charles William Hammell
Manchester Township resident Charles William Hammell, formerly of Wall Township, died Thursday, Nov. 4 in the Community Medical Center, Toms River.
He was 81 years old.
Born in South Amboy, Mr. Hammell, who was known as Bill, resided in Oceanport and Sea Bright before moving to Wall in 1961. He moved to Whiting two years ago.
Mr. Hammell served with the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. While in World War II, he was in the 248 Signal Operations Command and saw duty in North Africa, Italy, and France.
Mr. Hammell was an electrician at Concurrent Computer Corporation, Oceanport, retiring in 1990.
He served as a cubmaster for Pack 104 in the later 1960s.
He is survived by his spouse of 47 years, Patricia Berry Hammell; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Nubia Hammell, Westwood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kate and Scott Elliot, Manasquan, and Barbara and Daniel Barry, Damascus, Md., and seven grandchildren.
