Edward Henry Morris
Parksley, Va. resident Edward Henry Morris, whose daughter lives in Manasquan, died Saturday, Dec. 25 in his home.
He was 81 years old.
Born in Long Branch, Mr. Morris is formerly of Farmingdale. He is the son of the late Edward and Bertha Frey Morris.
Mr. Morris is a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II in the Pacific. He was a retired chief petty officer of the U.S. Navy and retired from the federal government.
He was a Methodist and a member of the Parksley Masonic Lodge No. 325 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and a member of the Onancock Elks Lodge No. 1766.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Barbara M. Morris; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Jack Pekarchik, Manasquan; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph N. and Cholly Morris, Columbia, S.C., and sister, Lillian Megill and her husband, Kenneth. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Timothy and Kristen Pekarchik, Brick Township; Scott Pekarchik, Brielle; David and Katie Pekarchik, Belmar; Laurie and Ashley Morris, Columbia, S.C., and one niece.
Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Homes, Brick.

James N. Gorringe
Spring Lake Heights resident James N. Gorringe died Monday, Dec. 20 in his home.
He was 89 years old.
Mr. Gorringe was born in Indianapolis, Ind. and lived in East Orange, then Short Hills, Houston Texas, and Summit before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 2001.
He was an avid tennis player, golfer, gardener and fisherman. Mr. Gorringe was a graduate of Duke University where he was a varsity cheerleader. He was elected head cheerleader in his junior year. He was on the dean’s list and was class treasurer, playing a lot of golf his senior year. He was a member of Duke’s President’s Club.
Upon graduation he joined Standard Oil of N.J., now Exxon. Starting as a laborer at the Bayway Refinery, he shoveled his way up to employee relations manager, a title he held in several of Exxon’s worldwide operations. He retired after 40 years of service to Exxon.
During World War II, about to be drafted, he enlisted in the Navy serving valiantly in the Battle of Potomac and was released from service as a full lieutenant in 1945. Mr. Gorringe was awarded a letter of commendation for his outstanding handling of deferments for essential workers in the defense industries in Hartford, Connecticut area. He was inducted into the American Legion, Baltimore Post, No. 158.
After his retirement from Exxon, Mr. Gorringe was called to be a consultant by Exxon, Japan. He and his wife had always enjoyed travel and were thrilled to spend four years commuting between Summit and Tokyo.
The love of his retirement years was “Grace,” a wooden fishing boat which he kept in Keyport. His log is full of wonderful accounts of fishing and pleasure trips with family and friends.
Mr. Gorringe was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Bariscillo Gorringe, in 2001.
He is survived by two daughters, Gaye Williams, Wall Township, and Kathleen Kapp, New York City; son, John H. Gorringe, a free lancer living in Hawaii; two granddaughters, Amy Laine and Sarah Williams; grandson, Trevor Kapp; great-granddaughter, Isabella Williams, and devoted friend, Wanda Shoppell.

Joseph A. Ricciuti
Shark River Hills, Neptune resident Joseph A. Ricciuti, who worked for the Wall Township Board of Education, died Thursday, Dec. 23.
Mr. Ricciuti was a mathematics teacher for the Freehold Regional Board of Education for 30 years before retiring. Upon his retirement, he served as a home instruction tutor for the Wall Township and Freehold boards of education. He was a devoted educator and was adored by his students.
Born and raised in the Philadelphia suburb of Germantown, Pa., Mr. Gorringe lived in Philadelphia before coming to the shore area in 1960. He was a member of the 195th class of Central High School in Philadelphia graduating in 1951. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University College of Education in 1959. He later went on to do post graduate work at Rutgers University.
Mr. Ricciuti was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a trumpet player with the 427th Army band, stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He was an accomplished musician and was the leader of the Joey Rich Trio, which played at many clubs and events in the shore area.
Mr. Ricciuti also coached CYO league basketball at the Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach and was assistant summer recreation director for Neptune Township.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Angela Marie Costanzo Ricciuti.
Visiting will be on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35 at New Bedford Road. A Mass of Resurrection will be offered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Asbury Park on Tuesday at 10 a.m. followed by committal and military honors at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery, Wrightstown.

James P. Casey
Spring Lake Heights resident James P. Casey died Tuesday, Dec. 28 in Valley Hospital, Ridgewood.
He was 80 years old.
Born in Newark, Mr. Casey lived in Middletown and Spring Lake before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1980. A graduate of Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University, he also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Casey was a former real estate director of the NJ Highway Authority, which runs the Garden State Parkway and the Atlantic City Expressway Authority. He had also acted as real estate consultant to the NJ Department of Conservation and Economic Development, the NJ Turnpike Authority, the Regional Plan Association, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and various county and municipal agencies and authorities.
Mr. Casey was a longtime member of the Deal Golf and Country Club and an enthusiastic sport fisherman.
Mr. Casey is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Michael Haverstick, and grandson, Michael, all of Wall; sister, Catherine Farrell, Spring Lake Heights; niece, Noreen Farrell and his former wife, Grace Casey. He also leaves behind the best friends any man could ask for and whom he truly loved, Harry, Bucky, Richie, and Bill.
Visiting hours will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. in Buckley Funeral Home, 509 Second Ave., Asbury Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday in St. Catharine’s Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment is in the St. Catharine’s cemetery, Wall.
Donald W. Dick
Wall Township resident Donald W. Dick died Sunday, Dec 26 in his home.
He was 68 years old.
Born in Englevale, N.D., Mr. Dick lived in Belmar for 32 years before moving to Wall six years ago.
Mr. Dick was a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] in Wayne before retiring in 1998. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Monmouth College and was the owner of the popular Don-Mar Guest House in Belmar. He worked part-time for Meridian Quality Care as a regional environmental supervisor and was a member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge No. 2534, and was a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Mr. Dick was a member of the Four Seasons Computer Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea.
Mr. Dick was predeceased by his sister, Vivian McCloud, of Montana.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ellis Dick; sons, Steve Baker, Don Jr., Kevin and Douglas Dick; daughters, Patricia Scott, and Mary Madsen, and his grandchildren, David, Jeffrey, Jaclyn, Christine, Michelle and Matthew. He also leaves his brother, William Dick, and sisters, Berniece Tanner and Dorothy Litchfield, all of North Dakota.
A funeral service will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall, followed by a burial at St. Catharine’s cemetery, Sea Girt. Relatives and friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m., 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Edith Mary McLaughlin
Sea Girt resident Edith Mary Green McLaughlin died Friday, Dec. 10 in her residence.
She was 92 years old.
Born and raised in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., Mrs. McLaughlin had lived in Hawthorne before moving to Sea Girt in 1964.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper at Chase Manhattan Bank, New York, and later at Prospect Park Bank, Prospect Park.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, and a member of the church’s Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of the St. Catharine’s Association of Matured Persons [SCAMP], Spring Lake.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in February1983.
She is survived by her son, Donald McLaughlin Sr., Ramsey; two daughters, Edith Ann Sedlatschek, Leicester, N.C., and Louellen Hofgesang, Washington Township; fifteen grandchildren, Meaghan Williams, Mimi Galanis, Kelly Catania, Donald McLaughlin Jr., Matthew McLaughlin, Kara Ragan, Christopher McLaughlin, Robert, Richard and Michael Sedlatschek, Mary Beth Horan, Laura Lejeune, Lupe Sedlatschek, Kenneth and Nicole Hofgesang, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Eleanore L. Chobot
Panama City, Fla. resident Eleanore L. Chobot, a former longtime resident of Spring Lake Heights, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9 in Panama City.
She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Chobot was a teacher and administrator of special education in the New York City public schools for many years before she and her husband, Arthur, moved to Spring Lake Heights in 1975. She held undergraduate and master’s degrees from Hunter College in New York. After retirement from teaching, she did volunteer work at Monmouth Medical Center and a had a lifelong love, interest and understanding of children. She was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.
Mrs. Chobot was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, in June 1997.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Winkler and her husband, Peter, Schroon Lake, N.Y., and Suzanne Durden and her husband, Bill, Panama City; son, John and his wife, Catherine, Mendham; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bland William Height
South Belmar resident Bland William Height died Saturday, Dec. 11 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 80 years old.
Born in Spring Lake, Mr. Height was a lifelong resident of South Belmar.
Mr. Height graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1944. As a merchant seaman, first mate, he travelled around the world until her retired from Sea Land in 1983.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bland B. and Catherine Schultz Height, and a sister, Mary Page.
He is survived by a sister, Vivian Mackiewicz, Ocean Township, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.

Elizabeth Parks Dineen
Virginia Beach, Va. resident Elizabeth Parks Dineen, formerly of Belmar and Jersey City, died last week in the Sentara Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Virginia Beach.
She was 89 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Dineen moved to Belmar in 1985 and to Virginia Beach four and one-half years ago.
Mrs. Dineen worked as a legal secretary in Jersey City before her retirement.
She was a former communicant of the Church of St. Elizabeth, Avon, a former member of the Third Order of St. Francis, Jersey City, the St. Rose Prime Timers, Belmar, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Belmar Fishing Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert M. Dineen, in 1990; four brothers, Francis, Ralph, John and Lt. Col. George Parks, and one sister, Dora Shannon.
She is survived by a son, Robert F. Dineen, Virginia Beach; daughter, Mary E. Dineen, Kearny, and three grandchildren, Kristen, Meghan and Lauren Dineen.

John Strenz
A memorial Mass for Upper Montclair resident John D. Strenz, whose mother resides in Sea Girt, was held on Dec. 2 at the St. Cassian’s Church.
Mr. Strenz is the son of Margaret and the late David A. Strenz.
Mr. Strenz died on Monday, Nov. 29 in his home.
He was 46 years old.
He was born and lived most of his life in Upper Montclair.
Mr. Strenz was a self-employed contractor and owner of JDS Construction Company for 20 years. He lettered all four years in baseball at Montclair High School as a pitcher and right fielder. After earning an associate’s degree in aeronautical technology from Westworth Institute of Technology in Boston, he also earned a bachelor’s degree in aviation administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fla. He was an avid pilot and once owned a Piper Warrior.
As a member of the Commonwealth Club in Upper Montclair, he was always among the club’s highest average bowler and captured prizes at the club’s annual golf outing two years ago. Mt. Strenz coached in his daughter’s Montclair soccer league for several years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Strenz is survived by his wife, Christian Dubuque-Strenz; three daughters, Amanda, Savannah and Cooper; his mother, Margaret Strenz; a brother, Robert; sisters, Patricia, Virginia Ash, Andrea Sgroi, Mary Ellen, Marjorie Iacangelo and Rosemary Strenz-Fletcher.
