Vincent A. Forlenza
Sea Girt resident Vincent Alfred Forlenza died Friday Jan. 30, at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
He was 80 years old.
Mr. Forlenza graduated in 1941 from Seton Hall Prep, South Orange, and the US Naval Academy, Annapolis Md., in 1947. He then went on to serve two tours of duty with the Navy, serving as a Lieutenant with the US Navy 6th Fleet, including duty on board the battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin.
In 1954 he joined General Dynamics as a Marine Sales Engineer, and then moved to Engelhard Corp., Iselin, where he became Manager of Government Services and worked there for 30 years before his retirement in 1985. He was responsible for research agreements that resulted in the development of air pollution control devices used on all automobiles, the protective tiles for the space shuttle, and special external coatings for the Stealth Bomber.
In 1985 upon his retirement from Engelhard Corp., he worked for Barrett and Blandford, Wall, and consulted for Litton Industries, Ariz. While at Barrett and Bandford, he was instrumental in developing a coating for night vision goggles used by the military that prevents fogging.
Born in Orange and raised in South Orange, he had lived in Sea Girt for the past 46 years while maintaining a residence in Vero Beach, Fla.
Mr. Forlenza was a communicant of St. Mark’s RC Church, Sea Girt, and a member of the US Naval Academy Alumni Association and the Navy League. He was an avid NY Yankees and Giants fan who enjoyed walking on the boardwalk with his late wife Constance. He was known as a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his large family.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Constance Dowd Forlenza, 2002.
Surviving are his children and their spouses Vincent A. Jr. and Ellen of Allendale, Robert and Karen of Lexington, Mass., Philip and Clare, Wall, Peter and Ellen, Rumson, Paul and Maureen, Howell, Constance M. and Mark Duffy, Freehold, and Carin A. and John Moran of Md.; and 18 grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at St. Mark’s RC Church, Sea Girt. Interment was at St. Anne’s cemetery, Wall.

Herbert A. O’Hare
Bedford Heights, Ohio, resident Herbert A. O’Hare, whose brother lives in Manasquan, died on Monday Jan. 26.
He was 76 years old.
Mr. O’Hare was a US Army veteran of WWII.
He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters; and an uncle and a great-uncle.
Mr. O’Hare was the beloved husband of Macelyn J. [Noponen]; he was the dear father of Eric R. [Kimberly], Scott C. [Barb], Kim, Daniel and Lori S. [Mark] Heritage; he was the grandfather of Jamie and Kyle P. O’Hare, Kathryn J., Brandon E. and Alex J. Heritage; brother of Eden O’Hare, Manasquan; and brother-in-law of Roberta O’Hare.
Rita Z. Elkins
Manasquan Park resident Rita Zwisohn Elkins died on Saturday Jan. 24.
She was 86 years old.
A life-long resident of the Jersey Shore, she was born and raised in Pt. Pleasant Beach, moved to Sea Girt in 1948, and lived in the Manasquan Park section of Wall Township since 1964.
As a young girl, she worked in Zwisohn’s, the family clothing store, and developed a deep love of the beach and the ocean, which she later passed on to her children.
She was a graduate of Montclair State Teachers College, and taught American History at Manasquan High School for many years before retiring in 1980. As a teacher, senior advisor and cheerleader advisor at Manasquan High School, she was adored and respected by her peers and students. She was proud to claim actor Jack Nicholson as one of her early students.
Mrs. Elkins was preceded in death last Nov. by her beloved husband of 60 years, Donald, whom she met while he was stationed at the Sea Girt Army Camp during WWII. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother to her two children.
She is survived by her son Randy, of McLean, Va.; her daughter Sistie Roberts of Milwaukee, Wisc.; her sister Thelma Lowe of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her many friends, neighbors and especially her family.
The Simple Tribute Funeral Cremation Center of Md. will be handling all arrangements.
Barbara Stoner
Former Manasquan resident Barbara Stoner died Monday Feb. 2, at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was 71 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, Mrs. Stoner was formerly of Colonia and Manasquan.
She was a member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church and was a founder of the church’s Intercessory Prayer Group.
Mrs. Stoner was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Ruth Woolley Noll.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Marlin Stoner; sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Terri Stoner, Colonia, Robert Stoner, Toms River, and Ronald and Cheryl Stoner, Pt. Pleasant; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and George Ulrich, Pt. Pleasant; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Kenneth Meachem, Brick; and 8 grandchildren also survive.
Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at the Manasquan United Methodist Church at a later date.

Alexandra Rose Tozzi
Alexandra Rose Tozzi, of Spring Lake, died on Monday, Feb. 16.
She was 13 years old.
Ms. Tozzi was a beloved granddaughter, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and cherished friend.
She was a shining star to all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday at Georgian Court College, [Casino Building] at noon. The doors will open at 11 a.m.

Bonnie Jean Dunn
Bonnie Jean Dunn, of Wall Township, died on Friday, Feb. 13 at her home.
She was 55 years old.
Mrs. Dunn was a teacher for the Wall Township Board of Education for many years before retiring in 2003. She was a 1970 graduate of Oneonta University, Oneonta, N.Y. with a B.S. in education.
Mrs. Dunn was a communicant of St. Denis RC Church in Manasquan.
Born and raised in Croton on Hudson, N.Y., she moved to Wall 33 years ago.
Mrs. Dunn was predeceased by her sister Lynn Jerrick in 1992.
Surviving is her loving husband of 33 years, Charles Dunn; three daughters, Michelle and her husband David Wescott of Skytop, Pa., Suzanne and her husband James Hillenbrand of Howell, and Nancy Dunn of San Diego, Calif.; her parents, Grant and Eleanor Smith of Cary, N.C.; and her granddaughter, Ashleigh Wescott.
Visiting was on Tuesday at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall. Services and interment were held privately.
Frank J. Wilson
Frank J. Wilson, of Brielle, died Sunday, Feb. 8 at home.
He was 92 years old.
Mr. Wilson retired from American Policy Holders Insurance Company, Mass., after many years as a special insurance agent.
Born in Jersey City, he lived in Matawan before moving to Brielle six years ago.
He was a communicant of St. Denis RC Church, Manasquan, and a Navy veteran of WWII.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Primka Wilson and six nephews.
The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, was in charge of arrangements. A Memorial Mass was held Tuesday at St. Denis RC Church, Manasquan. A private interment was held in Sacred Heart cemetery, Parlin.

Edward J. O’Leary
Spring Lake Heights resident Edward J. O’Leary died Monday Feb. 16, in the Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
He was 86 years old.
Born in Ridgewood, NY, he lived in NYC before coming to Spring Lake Heights in 1971.
Mr. O’Leary served with the NYC Fire Dept. for 30 years, retiring at the rank of lieutenant in 1975.
He was a US Army Air Corp. veteran of WWII. He ran dances at the Taft and St. Moritz Hotels in NYC for 10 years, and owned and operated the Pennsylvania Hotel in Spring Lake from 1965 to 1980.
Mr. O’Leary was a member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge No. 2534 and was named Elk of the Year in 1983-1984. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 346 in Neptune, AARP Manasquan Chapter 4338, Knights of Columbus Council 5611, St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, and the Jerry Lynch Social and Civic Club of Belmar and the Trendsetters of Spring Lake Heights, where he served on the Board of Directors.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Walter Fink of Essex Junction, Vt.; and his nieces Patricia O’Shea of Franklin, Vt., Kathy Ritchie of Rice Lake, Wis., and Grace Heltz, Williston, Vt.
Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. A Mass followed at St. Margaret’s Church, Spring Lake, and committal followed at St. Catharine’s cemetery, Sea Girt.

Capt. James E. Kerr
Brielle resident Capt. James E. Kerr died Sunday Feb. 15, in the Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.
He was 75 years old.
Capt. Kerr was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII.
Born in Ridgefield Park, Capt. Kerr moved to Brielle in 1963 to pursue a career in charter boat fishing. During his 35 years as a captain, he operated the Sportsman and the Sportsman I, II and III. During the winter months he worked as a carpenter and belonged to Union Local 2250 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jointers, Red Bank. He retired in Oct., 1993, due to poor health.
Best known to his friends as “Cap,” he will be remembered best for his many interesting stories of his experiences while fishing in the ocean and chartering his Sportsman III.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Cramer Kerr; his son James Kerr, Jr., Brielle; his sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Henry Paronettenott, Fla.; and his three grandsons, James Kerr, IV, Thomas Marcus Kerr and David William Kerr.
A service will be held tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015-0820.
Harold Thompson “Bud” Hall, Jr.
Harold Thompson “Bud” Hall, Jr., of Sea Girt, died on Saturday, Feb. 14 at his home.
He was 73 years old.
Mr. Hall was a life-long resident of Sea Girt.
He graduated from the Pingry School, Short Hills, and Pace University, NYC.
Mr. Hall was a member of the NJ Air National Guard, serving from 1951 to 1953.
He was the owner of H.T. Hall, Inc. Monument and Vault Company, Manasquan, retiring in 1999. He was the past president of the National Concrete Burial Vault Association.
Mr. Hall was a member of St. Uriel The Archangel Episcopal Church, Sea Girt. He was a past president of the Sea Girt Board of Education and was instrumental in opening the Sea Girt Elementary School.
He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club, Manasquan, Manasquan Elks Lodge No. 2534, the Spring Lake American Legion, the Manasquan River Golf Club, the F. & A. M., Wall Lodge and was a former officer and exempt member of the Sea Girt Fire Company.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Charles Hall; his son and daughter-in-law, Harold T., III & Krislee Hall, Sea Girt; his daughter Leslie H. Geil, Mattapoisett, Mass.; his sister Gwen Hall Evans, Manasquan; his grandsons, Colin D. Geil, Erik J. Geil and Charles Hall; and his granddaughter Alexx Hall.
A Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Uriel The Archangel Episcopal Church, Sea Girt. Interment will follow in Atlantic View cemetery, Manasquan. Visiting will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.
