E. George Gravino
E. George Gravino, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, at his daughter’s home in Wall.
He was 93 years old.
Mr. Gravino devoted 45 years to education, teaching in South Jersey, Point Pleasant Boro and Manasquan.
During his many years in Manasquan, he was a math instructor, basketball and football coach, and for 30 years served as principal of Manasquan Elementary School, retiring in 1975.
He was a graduate of Glassboro College and Rutger’s University, receiving a Master’s degree in education.
Mr. Gravino attended Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, and served as an elder and clerk of sessions. He was a member of the NJ Retired Educators Association, a member of the NJ School Masters Association, former president of the Manasquan Kiwanis Club, former president of the NJ Elementary School Principal’s Association, and former president of the Senior Citizen Council of Monmouth County. He was also a 50 year member and past chairman of the Point Pleasant Beach Library Board, and for many years was associated with the Boy Scouts of America.
Born in Glassport, Pennsylvania, he resided in Point Pleasant Beach before moving to Allenwood two years ago.
Mr. Gravino is survived by his wife of 66 years, Grace Moncrief Gravino; a daughter, Gayle Ferry, Wall Township; two brothers, Adolph Gravino, Vineland, and Edward Gravino, Glassboro; two grandsons, Cole Ferry, NYC, and Christopher and Beth Ferry of Wall Township; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Allyson.
All funeral arrangements are private under the direction of the Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, Wall Township.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Bay and Forman Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, 08742.
Rita D. Mahon
Rita D. Mahon, who has family in Spring Lake, died yesterday at her Neptune City home.
She was 85 years old.
Born in Newark, she lived in Bradley Beach from 1944 to 1955 and in Neptune City for the rest of her life.
She was a retired broker for Martin Real Estate, Neptune.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church, Avon, and a member of the Primetimers of Belmar.
She was predeceased by her husband William M., in 1985, and a son, James, in 1999.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William T. and Joanie Mahon, Spring Lake; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and James Akers, Santa Monica, Calif.; five grandchildren, Lauren Akers, Michele Mecca, Jamie McClellan, William Mahon, and Jennifer Holfelder; and three great-grandchildren, James, Matthew, and Ryan.
Funeral services will be provided by the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar, at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m., St. Elizabeth Church, Avon. Interment will be at St. Catharine’s Cemetary, Sea Girt.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Margaret Snell Mueller
Margaret Snell Mueller of Brielle, died Tuesday at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was 87 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Mueller resided in Upper Montclair before moving to Brielle 18 years ago.
A homemaker, Mrs. Mueller spent 20 years as a real estate agent with Schweppy & Co., Upper Montclair.
She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Sea Girt.
She was an avid reader, and belonged to the Brielle Bridge Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony John Mueller, Jr., who died in December 2003.
Surviving are a daughter and son-inlaw, Elizabeth M. and Bruce Wesson, Summit; one brother and sister-in-law, Daniel T., III and Ann Snell, Brick; five grandchildren, Kimberly Wesson, Farmingham, Mass., Kristen and her husband, Robert Hartgers, Franklin Lakes, Stephan and wife Regan Wesson, Summit, David and wife Breene Wesson, Summit, and Jeffrey Wesson, New York, N.Y.
Seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Mass will take place tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Sea Girt. Interment will follow in St. Catharine’s Cemetary, Sea Girt.
There are no calling hours.
The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph G. Jones
Avon-by-the-Sea resident Joseph G. Jones died Thursday, Jan. 22, in the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 87 years old.
Born in Sutersville, Pa., he lived in Harrison and Avon-by-the-Sea.
Mr. Jones retired in 1976 after 25 years as a tax collector for the City of Harrison. He also had owned and operated Jones Hawaiian Palms in Harrison & the Gulf Terrace in Anna Maria Island, Fla. He had also acted as a sales representative for Hilliyard Sales Co.
He was a former member of the Harrison Board of Education, and a charter member of the Lions Club and the Mordecai Club, both in Harrison.
Mr. Jones was predeceased by his first wife, Marygrace Jones.
Surviving are his wife Agnes Katelus-Jones; one son and his wife, Joseph and Mary Beth Jones, Wall Township; one daughter and her husband, Jackie and Dick Maloney, Avon; four grandchildren and their spouses, Richard and Carol Maloney, Andrew Maloney, David and Kristin Jones, Shannon and Tom Popola; one stepson, Ken Katelus; a step-grandson, Douglas Katelus; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar. Interment was held at Holy Cross cemetery, North Arlington.

Grace M. Terracciano
Toms River and former Bayonne resident Grace M. Terracciano, who has relatives in Sea Girt, died Friday, Jan. 23, at her residence.
She was 85 years old.
Mrs. Terracciano had been employed for 20 years in the manufacturing department at Best Foods Co., Bayonne, retiring in 1984.
Born in Brooklyn, she was raised in Staten Island and lived in Bayonne since her marriage to her late husband Patrick, before moving to Toms River 9 years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband Patrick S., 1965; and her daughter Carmella Galya, 1995.
Surviving are her son Tony P. Terracciano, Sea Girt; her 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Denis RC Church, Manasquan. Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick. Private committal will take place in the family plot in Holy Name cemetery, Jersey City.
Charles M. LoCascio
Spring Lake Heights resident Charles M. LoCascio died Sunday, Jan. 25, in the CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.
He was 96 years old.
Mr. LoCascio had been employed as an electronic engineer at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 32 years, retiring in 1972.
During his working career he had also been employed as an instructor in electronics at Monmouth College, West Long Branch.
He was an avid gardener, growing many types of flowers and vegetables at his home.
Born in Messina, Italy, he had lived in Oakhurst, before moving to Spring Lake Heights 35 years ago.
Mr. LoCascio was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, in 1972.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Charles M. Jr. and Vivian, Spring Lake Heights; John E., Shelly, Richard A. and Joan, all of Wall Township; 9 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall. Services and burial in Wall Church cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
Emerson C. Raab
Manasquan resident Emerson C. Raab died Friday, Jan. 23, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 91 years old.
Mr. Raab had been employed as an insurance broker with Employees Mutual of Warsaw, NY, for 30 years, retiring in 1970.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of the U.S. Golf Association. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mark’s RC Church, Sea Girt, and had attended St. Denis RC Church, Manasquan.
Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Avon-by-the-Sea, Spring Lake Heights and Sea Girt before moving to Manasquan in 1980.
Mr. Raab was an Army veteran of WWII.
He was predeceased by his wife Virginia L. McGiverin Raab, 1995; and his sister Frances Herkt, 2003.
Surviving are his nieces Kathleen DeAngelis, Somerset, and Virginia Osif, Harrisburg, Penn.
Visitation will be held today from 8 to 9 a.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s RC Church, Sea Girt. Interment will be at St. Catharine’s cemetery, Sea Girt.

John W. Sullivan
Sea Girt resident John W. Sullivan died Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 61 years old.
Mr. Sullivan had a Master’s degree in education and was a school teacher for the Sea Girt Board of Education for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He then worked at the Macgowan Real Estate Agency of Spring Lake.
He was a piper and color sergeant with the Atlantic Watch Bagpipe Band of Red Bank and was a member of the Rev. John F. Welsh Council 3231 Knights of Columbus in Manasquan.
Born in Kearny, he lived the past 35 years in the Sea Girt section of Wall Township.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife Peggy Temore; his two sons John A., Wall, and Daniel, Morristown; his daughter Kathleen Clendinning, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Armitage Funeral Home, Wall. A Funeral Mass will be held today at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, Manasquan. Interment will be held at St. Ann’s cemetery, Wall.
