Kiritkumar N. Purohit M.D.
Brielle resident Kiritkumar N. Purohit M.D. passed away Friday, Jan. 2, at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia.
He was 58 years old.
Dr. Purohit was a well known physician in the shore area for many years.
He had completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Nephrology at Westchester County Medical Center in 1978. He then went on to establish his private medical practice in Brick from 1978-1992, when he moved his practice to Point Pleasant until his retirement due to illness.
Born in Gada, Baroda India, he graduated from M.S. University and Baroda Medical College, India. He came to the U.S. in 1973, and had lived in Brick Township before moving to Brielle in 1978.
Dr. Purohit was predeceased by his father Natvarlal Purohit.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Kumud Pandya Purohit; his two sons Kalpesh and Ketan Purohit, Brielle; his mother Shanta Ben Purohit and a sister, Pratima Pandya, both of India.
A service was held from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. Committal followed at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
Edith G. Van Ness
Spring Lake Heights resident Edith G. Van Ness passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 76 years old.
Mrs. Van Ness was a real estate broker for Russ Edmonds Realty, Spring Lake, and previously was a co-owner and broker of Van Ness Real Estate, East Hanover.
She was a Morris County Committee woman and was a member of the Board of Realtors in Morris and Monmouth Counties.
Born in Orange, she lived in Bloomfield, Livingston and Whippany before moving to Spring Lake Heights 24 years ago.
Mrs. Van Ness was predeceased by her husband, Richard W. Van Ness, Sr., 2001.
Surviving are her sons, Richard W. Van Ness Jr. and his wife Christina, Wall Township, and Gary W. Greenip and his wife Suzanne, Orlando, Fla.; her daughter Patricia L. Van Ness, Spring Lake Heights, and her companion Robert A. Moore, Jr., Wall; and her sister-in-law Shirley Anderson, Spring Lake Heights. She also leaves 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A service was held at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. Interment followed at Greenwood cemetery, Brielle.
Donations may be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation NJ Affiliate 785 Springfield Ave., Summit, NJ 07901.
Francis X. “Frank” Durkin
Sea Girt resident Francis X. “Frank” Durkin passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 85 years old.
Born in Hoboken, he lived in Cresskill, before coming to Sea Girt 37 years ago.
Mr. Durkin was employed with Citibank Corp. for 37 years, and later worked as an insurance executive with the Joseph Brittan Agency in Mountainside, before retiring 15 years ago.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. Veteran of WWII, a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt, and served as an usher there for many years.
Mr. Durkin was also an auxiliary member of the Sea Girt Volunteer Fire Dept.
He was predeceased by his brother William Durkin; and his sister Virginia Minnock.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret M. Maloney Durkin; his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy D. and Paul Mc Evily, Interlaken; his grandchildren, Brian, Matthew and Madeline Mc Evily; his three sisters, Margaret Miller, Hoboken, Marion Brummerhop, Ft. Lee, and Irene Doyle, Old Bridge.
A service was held at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. A Mass was at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, and committal was at St. Catharine’s cemetery, Sea Girt.

Patricia Margaret Lins
Ocean Beach resident Patricia Margaret Lins, whose daughter lives in Brielle, died on Sunday, Jan. 4 in the Meridian Hospice in Brick Township.
She was 75 years old.
She was a homemaker. Earlier, she worked as front office manager of the Thunderbird Motel in South Mantoloking and for NJ Bell in Newark.
She was a past vice president for Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital in Browns Mills, and supported many Catholic charities including the Society of the Little Flower and the Franciscan Friars.
Born and raised in Newark, she lived in Ocean Beach for 48 years.
She was predeceased by: her husband, George H. Lins Jr.in 1988; her brother, Lawrence A. Conry; and her three sisters, Margaret Mahon, Rita O’Leary and Eleanor Stauder.
She is survived by: her son, George H. Lins III, Sebastian, Fla. and Point Pleasant; daughters Nancy Townsend, of Brielle, Karen and her husband Gary Hahn Sr. of Point Pleasant, and Susan Lins, of Point Pleasant. She is also survived by: her brother, Andrew Conroy, of Manahawkin; her sister, Dorothy Enerson, of Manasquan; and four grandchildren, Gregory, Michael, Madison and Gary Jr.
Visiting will be on Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Route 35 and New Bedford Road, Wall. The service will begin from the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Friday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church in Spring Lake. Interment will be at St. Catharine’s cemetery, Sea Girt.
Matthew R. Ellis
Freehold Township resident Matthew R. Ellis, whose father lives in Point Pleasant, died Monday, Jan. 5 in Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.
He was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and resided in Manasquan prior to moving to Freehold Township in 1983. He was a 1994 graduate of Freehold Borough High School and lettered in baseball and basketball. After graduating in 1998 from Elizabethtown College, he attended Life University, Marietta, Ga.
He worked as a title agent for the Jordan Real Estate Group in Eatontown for the past three years.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Norman A. Ellis Sr. and Doris J. Ellis, and his maternal grandfather, Raymond R.Thoms.
He is survived by: his father and his wife, Raymond and Eileen Ellis, of Point Pleasant; his mother and her husband, Karen and Donald Thoms, of Freehold Township; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Joyce Haeflinger, of Pennsylvania; his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Gloria Smith, of Virginia; his maternal grandmother, Mildred Thoms, of Freehold; brothers, Brandon S. and Nicholas R. Thoms, of Freehold; and sisters Amanda H. Ellis, of Freehold, and Sarah E. Ellis and Lauren P. Ellis, of Point Pleasant. He is also survived by his loving companion, Michele Fagan of Leonardo.
Arrangements were by Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.

Dr. Robert G. Scott
Former Spring Lake resident Dr. Robert G. Scott passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, at his home in Fort Myers, Fla.
He was 76 years old.
Dr. Scott graduated from Rutgers University and Temple University School of Dentistry and was a dentist here for a number of years, a member of St. Catharine’s Catholic Church, Spring Lake, and was very active and supportive of many civic and professional clubs and organizations in the area.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Aileen Scott; loving children, Kathleen Gilderman [Martin], Barbara Havens [Terry], Judith Duncan, Carole Darche [Fred], Mary Chesebro [Brian], Robert G. Scott, Jr. [Beth], David Scott [Jennifer], James Scott [Becky], Dr. Thomas Scott [Kristine]; brother, Alvin Scott [Eleanore], brother-in-law, Richard E. Molkenthin; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kiser Funeral Home, Fla.

Florence F. Schuck
Manasquan resident Florence F. Schuck passed away Friday, Jan. 2, at her home.
She was 90 years old.
Born in Spring Lake Heights, Mrs. Schuck was a life-long resident of Manasquan.
She was a homemaker, and had worked as the comptroller in her husband’s contracting business, Hurley and Schuck, Manasquan.
Mrs. Schuck was a longtime member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church, Manasquan, the United Methodist Women and the church’s quilting group. She also belonged to the Friendship Guild.
She belonged to the South Monmouth Senior Citizens, where she served as the group’s travel coordinator for many years.
Mrs. Schuck was predeceased by her husband, Clinton E. Schuck, who died in 1985. Also, her grandson Daniel Schuck deceased April, 2003; and her two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are her son, Clinton E. Schuck, Jr., Shrewsbury; her daughters Deanna LaMonica, Manasquan, and Susan S. VanNote, Wilmington, N.C.; her brother-in-law, Willard Newman, Manasquan; and her grandchildren, Karen Kostich, Tompsontown, Pa., Christine McArthur, Brielle, Joseph LaMonica, Wall, Kimberly Bahr, Atlanta, Ga., Scott VanNote, Wilmington, and Jennifer Schuck, Shrewsbury. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. Funeral services were held at the Manasquan United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Greenwood cemetery, Brielle.

Raymond Pierre
Dinklage
Former Sea Girt resident Raymond Pierre Dinklage passed away Sunday, Jan. 4.
He was 78 years old.
Mr. Dinklage resided in Howell, and was formerly of Rumson and Sea Girt. He was a member of the US Air Corps during WWII.
He was a licensed Architect in three states, a graduate of University of Florida, a member of Gargoyle Honorary Society Fraternity, NJ Professional Planners Society, and the International Solar Energy Society. His architecture was published in House Beautiful and Estates Internationale.
Mr. Dinklage was the recipient of numerous beautification awards. Some of his local work includes The Tides of Belmar, The Raven and the Peach, and The Nauvoo Grille, Fair Haven.
He was a much loved husband and adored father with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in his wood-shop designing creative heirlooms his family will forever treasure.
Mr. Dinklage was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Florence Dinklage; and sister Edna Prescott.
Surviving are his wife, Gina; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Donald Johnson, Barnegat; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Lisa Dinklage, Lincroft, daughter, Tami Dinklage, Brick, daughter and son-in-law Dina and Jim Blackwood, Oakhurst; daughter, Jennifer Dinklage, Howell; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers John Dinklage of Brookside and David Dinklage, Forked River.

Beatrice Ann Koenig
Sea Girt resident Beatrice Ann Koenig passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
She was 75 years old.
Born in Teaneck, Mrs. Koenig resided in Spring Lake Heights before moving to Sea Girt in 1960. She also loved spending the winter in Palm Beach Shores, Fla.
She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Sea Girt.
Mrs. Koenig had been active with the St. Catharine’s PTA, the Sea Girt PTO and the Manasquan PTO. She was the first president of the Spring Lake Heights Little League auxiliary. She belonged to the Sea Girt Women’s Club and was active with the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a collector for the American Diabetes Association.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Frederick T.R. Koenig, Jr.; her sons and daughters-in-law, F. Thomas and Dolores Koenig, Brielle, Michael V. and Janet Koenig, Brielle, Richard D. and Jean Koenig, Manahawkin; Stephen C. and Victoria Koenig, Las Vegas; her daughter and son-in-law, Beatrice and Bill Schrader, Pt. Pleasant; her son, Daniel R. Koenig, Fla.; her daughter, Patricia E. Koenig, NY; her grandchildren, Matthew, Lorraine, Lance, Heidi, Jarrod, Cassandra, Emily and Abigail; and her great-grandchildren, Cody Carrithers and Anna Beatrice Koenig.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Sea Girt. Entombment followed in St. Catharine cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements were under the direction of the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.
