Elizabeth Zabel Gail Quarantiello

Lakewood resident Elizabeth Zabel Gail Quarantiello, whose daughter and son-in-law live in Brielle, died Wednesday, March 24, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

She was 81 years old.

Born in Worcester, Mass., Mrs. Quarantiello lived most of her life in southern California before moving to Lakewood four and one-half years ago.

She was predeceased by her husband, Domenic, in 1998.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Peter K. Schnitzler, of Brielle; a son, William J. Quarantiello, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and a grandson, Michael Quarantiello, of Reno, Nev.

A memorial service will be held at a future date in Gardena, California. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. John’s Church — Feed the Hungry Program, 22 Mulberry St., Newark, NJ 07012.

The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret W. Gorman

Former Wall Township resident Margaret W. “Marge” Gorman, 83, died Thursday, March 25, at Laurelton Village Rehabilitation Center, Brick.

She was a clerk at the Towne Pharmacy in Dunellen for 20 years, and worked as a clerk at the Dunellen Variety Store prior to that.

Born in Richmond, N.Y., she had lived in Dunellen for most of her life before moving to Wall Township for two years and then in Brick for the past five years.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Powers, of Manasquan, and Karen Wood, of Manchester; two sisters, June Ferrante and Gertrude Czerwinski, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. only at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall Township. A funeral service will take place Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Catharine’s cemetery, Sea Girt.

Dorothy O’Neill

Wall Township resident Dorothy O’Neill died Friday, March 26, at Sunnyside Manor, Wall Township.

She was 73 years old.

Born and raised in Elizabeth, she was a graduate of Baton High School, Elizabeth. She lived in Roselle for 41 years before moving to Wall Township in 2001 to be closer to her only son and daughter-in-law.

Prior to a long-term battle with rheumatoid arthritis, she was extremely active in multiple civic activities. She was president of the Republican Club of Union County, and a committeewoman in Roselle.

She was very active in the campaign to elect former presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, as well as the campaign for Senator Matthew Rinaldo. She was personally honored with an invitation to the former presidents’ inaugurations

She as the president of both the Roselle Garden Club and the local PTA for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul James O’Neill, in September 2001.

Surviving are a son, James P., and his wife, Patricia, of Wall Township.

Private committal at the convenience of the family will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

James F. Driscoll

James F. Driscoll, a resident of the Allenwood section of Wall Township, died Friday, March 26, at home.

He was 77 years old.

He had been employed as a financial administrator for Thomas & Betts Co., Bridgewater, for 40 years, and retired 12 years ago.

He was a member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge and was an avid golfer.

He graduated from Pace University, and received his master’s degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

Born and raised in Elizabeth, he had lived in Union for 30 years before moving to Wall 12 years ago.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Janet, and a daughter, Joan Connors.

Surviving are his second wife of 20 years, Prudence; four sons, Michael, of Linden, Peter, of Ashton, Mass., Theodore Eskildsen, of Dawnport, Iowa, and Thomas Eskildsen, of Middletown; a daughter, Ellen, of New Hampshire; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were by O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Marie Patricia Rasna

Manasquan resident Marie Patricia Rasna, died Friday, March 26, at her home.

She was 85 years old.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She lived in Kearny before moving to Manasquan 46 years ago.

During World War II, she volunteered with the American Red Cross.

She was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan, and held various offices in the Catholic Daughters of America as well as the women’s Auxiliary of the Manasquan Elks.

She was an avid bowler on the Stadium league, a beachgoer, reader, golfer, and traveler.

She was the loving daughter of the late Edward P. and Anna Gormer Arnold, of Newark, and beloved wife of 47 years to the late James Rasna.

She was also predeceased by a sister, Cecelia Arnold; two brothers, Edward P. Arnold and William J. Arnold.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in law, Marianne Floden Maddocks, of Wall, Patricia and Leo Duchesne, of Brick, and Joan and Randy Zisler, of Princeton; five grandchildren, Colleen, Heather, Danielle, Matthew, and Kimberly; and five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha, Ethan, Jessica, and Alexandra, along with several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Donations may be made to her name to the National MS Foundation, 246 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ or to the Manasquan First Aid Squad, 65 Broad Street, Manasquan, NJ.

John Edward Kelly

John Edward Kelly, who has a daughter in Wall Township, died Saturday, March 20, in Bayonne.

A Harvey Cedars resident, Mr. Kelly had been employed as a technical research engineer at Maxwell House Coffee CO., Hoboken, for 35 years before his retirement in 1990.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and served from 1953-1955.

Born and raised in Bayonne, he had lived in Roselle and then Cranford for 32 years before moving to Harvey Cedars 13 years ago.

He was predeceased by his daughter.

Surviving are a son, John E., Jr., of Oceanport; four daughters, Lori Annun, of Clarksburg, Kathy Maloney, of Red Bank, Maureen, of Wall Township, and Kelly Ann ImBrenda, of West Allenhurst; two sisters, Kathryn Savin, of Union, and Elizabeth; his first wife, Maureen, of Red Bank; and 11 grandchildren.

All services are private at the convenience of his children.

Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Michael Christopher Praschil

Michael Christopher Praschil, a former Manasquan resident, died Tuesday at Fletch Allen Health Care Center, Burlington, Vt.

He was 21 years old.

Born in Neptune, he lived in Manasquan before moving to Vermont last year.

He was a student at Champlain College, Vt., and a 2001 graduate of Wall High School. He was a member of the ROTC for four years, and loved music.

Surviving are his father, Gary, and his companion Tracey Massey, of Yardley, Pa.; his mother, Kathleen (nee Jordan) and Neil Penn, of Eidenheim, Pa.; a brother, Anthony Hayes, and his wife Jessica, of Manasquan; grandparents Dolores and Gerald Treger, Haversteraw, N.Y.; and a great-grandfather, Louis Fiorenza, of Georgia.

He also leaves two nieces, Ashlynn and Ella Hayes.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Funeral services are at 8 p.m. Friday at the O’Brien Funeral Home.

Interment is private.

Harry Rash

Wall resident Harry W. Rash died Saturday, April 17 in his home.

He was 78 years old.

Born in West Belmar section of Wall, he resided there his entire life.

Mr. Rash served as the Mayor of Wall Twp. for six terms and had also served as the Wall Twp. Police Commissioner for 25 years, a longtime Wall Twp. Committeeman and a member of the Wall Twp. Board of Adjustment. He was also a longtime member of the Wall Twp. Republican Club and the Wall Twp. Kiwanis Club.

He was employed as a Sterotype Foreman at the Asbury Park Press for 38 years before retiring in 1981. Following his retirement he was employed as the Highway Supervisor and the Supervisor of County Roads for Monmouth County until retiring in 1988.

He was the former Chief and a longtime member of the Wall Fire Co. No. 1. He was also a member of the N.J. Fire Chiefs Association and had served as a member of the Wall Twp. First Aid Squad.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Boatswains Mate Second Class on the UDT (Underwater Demolition Team), while serving in the Navy, he was the recipient of two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 1398 of Wall Twp.

In his youth he had played for the Blackhawk Baseball Club, a team in Wall. Later in life he was a coach for North Wall Little League and the Babe Ruth League. Mr. Rash was also an avid golfer who enjoyed playing especially with his grandson.

Mr. Rash is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years Dorothy [nee Kaufman] Rash; his son and daughter-in-law Steve H. and Linda Hyland-Rash, Jackson; his daughters and son-in-law Sharon Love-Winstanley and Michael Winstanley, Wall, Jeanne Rash, Brick; his nine grandchildren Kelley, Patrick, and Christopher Love, Emily Runyon, Amy Howard, Adam Richards, Michael and Aimee Woodward and Kimberly Hartney; and his great grandchildren Colin, Hunter, and Aislin.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Rash’s memory may be made to Embracing Care Hospice, 2101 Rt. 34 South, Wall, 07719 or NJ State Organization for Cystic Fibrosis, 555 Preakness Ave., Totowa, 07512.

Blanche Terry

Wall resident Blanche K. Hagerty Terry died Tuesday, April 13 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 78 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. she lived in Bonita, Calif before coming to Wall five years ago.

She was a homemaker and devoted wife.

Mrs. Terry is survived by her husband of 52 years, Martin J. Terry; her two nephews Robert Hopping and Howard Tibbins; her two nieces Rose Lilly Tibbins and Patricia Hall; and her cousin Vera Maguire.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home.

Louis Nieves

Wall resident Louis Nieves died Wednesday, April 14 in Sunnyside Manor Care Center, Wall.

He was 89 years old.

Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico he arrived in the U.S. to live in N.Y.C., moving to Great Kills, Staten Island before retiring to Leisure Knoll in Lakehurst.

He was an estate tax appraiser for the State of New York in their Manhattan Offices for 30 years, retiring in 1976.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Idaho as a signal man during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He is a member of the U.S. Battleship Association and the USS Idaho Group.

He was a life long member of the YMCA and was a past Hand Ball Champion at the Grand Central Railroad Branch.

Mr. Nieves was predeceased by his wife Helen T. [nee: Mullane] Nieves in 1992.

He is survived by his son Louis J. Nieves, Wall; his daughter Dolores L. Nieves, Matawan; and his sister Carmelita Romero, Farmingdale, L.I.

Funeral arrangements were from the D’Elia Funeral Home.
