Ruth D. Dieckmann
Manasquan resident Ruth Dillon Dieckmann died Monday, Dec. 9 in her home.
She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Dieckmann lived in Manasquan for the last 50 years.
She was employed for over 30 years in the insurance business, first with The Swader Agency, Manasquan, and then with Longstreet Insurance, Sea Girt.
She was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan, and was a member of it's choir and an organist for 40 years.
She was a member and held offices in a number of organizations including the CDA, the Altar Rosary Society, Manasquan Democratic Club, Manasquan Elks Ladies Auxiliary, and AARP.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Anthony M. Dillon, her second husband, Edward Dieckmann, one daughter, Gloria Dillon-Hallagan, one brother, William Leahy, two sisters, Marion Sahradnik and Eneas Uderman, and her stepson, Ricky Dieckmann.
Surviving are two daughters and three sons-in-law, Marybeth and George Woolley, Manasquan, Susan Dillon and William Humphrey, Cambridge, England, and Walter Hallagan, Rochester, N.Y.; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Patricia Leahy, Tega Cay, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Clemy Leahy, California; four grandchildren, Christine and Vinny O'Rourke, Point Pleasant, Cindy and Kenny Wyatt, Jackson Township, Susannah and Dylan Hallagan Rochester, N.Y.; and two great-grandsons.
She is also survived by three stepdaughters and their spouses, Kathryn and Bruce Beckmann, Sea Girt, Nancy and Philip Scheurer, Knoxsville, Tenn., and Margo and Michael Ferullo, Manasquan; eight stepgrandchildren, Daniel and Barry Beckmann, Chris, Beth and Mark Scheurer, and Michael, Jeanne and Andrew Ferullo; and five step great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are from the O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. A funeral service will be at 8:45 a.m. today in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Denis Church, Manasquan.

Doris Rankin Ehret
Lake Wylie, S.C., resident Doris Virginia Rankin Ehret, whose sister lives in Manasquan, died Thursday, Dec. 5 in Gaston Memorial Hospital.
She was 78 years old.
Mrs. Ehret was a native of Neptune City.
She was employed with Dana Corporation --Summey Building Systems, before retiring.
She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Gastonia, N.C., and a member of it's Women's Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick B. and Margaret Brower Rankin.
Surviving are her husband, Berton Searles Ehret; two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen E. and Carl Scott, McDonough, Ga., and Robin Nikkie Ehret, at home; and one sister, Margaret Rankin Morris, Manasquan.
Funeral arrangements were from the McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia, N.C.

Susan Shehadi Farrell
Phoenix,Ariz., resident Susan Shehadi Farrell, formerly of Sea Girt, died Thursday, Nov. 28 in her home.
She was 70 years old.
Born in East Orange, Mrs. Farrell was raised in Maplewood and lived in Sea Girt, Delray Beach, Fla., and Greenville, S.C., before moving to Phoenix, Ariz.
She was a graduate of Columbia High School, Maplewood, Class of 1950, earned a bachelor's degree in photography from Ohio State University, Class of 1954, and earned a master's degree in education from Florida Atlantic University.
She was employed as a special education teacher for 19 years, and then pursued a career in real estate.
She was an avid naturalist and bird lover, enjoyed camping trips, boat trips and hikes with her children, and documented her many nature walks through her photography.
Surviving are one son, James Farrell, Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Nancy Morningstar, Phoenix, Ariz., and Dorothy Derakhshani, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; one brother, John [Jack] Shehadi, Lake Wales, Fla.; five grandchildren, Heath Morningstar, Heather McConnell, Dustin Farrell, and Nicholas and Shirrine Derakhshani; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Jolynn and Alexander.
Funeral arrangements were from Shadow Mountain Mortuary, Phoenix, Ariz. A graveside internment will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2003, in Fairview cemetery, Middletown.

Celia Ronayne Tiernan
Spring Lake Heights resident Celia Ronayne Tiernan died Saturday, Nov. 23 in Manor By the Sea Nursing Home, Ocean Grove.
She was 99 years old [two months short of her 100th birthday].
Born in Irishtown, County Mayo, Ireland, Mrs. Tiernan lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1996.
She was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of the St. Catharine-St. Margaret parish, Spring Lake, and previously had been a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Brooklyn, N.Y., for 66 years.
She was predeceased in 1965 by her husband, John; in May by her son, John Patrick; in February by her daughter-in-law, Janet Miller Tiernan; and by three brothers and nine sisters.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Frank Kehr, Calverton, N.Y., and Frances and Gene Caser, Spring Lake Heights; one sister, Agnes Hamrogue, New York City; eight grandchildren, William Abeltin, Lincroft, Edward Abeltin, North Merrick, N.Y., Carol Chesire, Wantagh, N.Y., Donna Matzen, Lynbrook, N.Y., John Abeltin, Greenlawn, N.Y., and Peter, Joseph, and Michael Tiernan, all of Holden, Mass.; 13 great-grandchildren Jacqueline, Katherine, Megan, Nadine, Ariel, Lisa and Christine Abeltin, Jaclyn, Timothy, Michael, and William Cheshire, and Kaitlin and Allison Matzen; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert Edward Foote
Wall Township resident Robert Edward Foote died Monday, Dec. 9 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 81 years old.
Born in Omaha, Neb., Mr. Foote was a resident of the Shore area for over 50 years.
He attended Kansas State University.
He was the owner for 55 years of a Belmar based company that sold and serviced parking meters throughout New Jersey and New England.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He served as a fighter pilot with Squadron UMF-216 in the South Pacific, flying combat missions during the Solomon Island campaign. He shot down a Japanese Zero during a dogfight, and flew escort duty with Charles Lindbergh. Later, he served as a landing officer, training pilots to land on aircraft carriers.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, and his brother, Jack.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Cheryl, Williamsville, N.Y.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Libbie and Leon Mora, Boston, Jean and Christopher Arnold, Brielle, and Barbara and James Pryor, Morrison, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren, Amy, James, Eric, Madalyn, Christopher, Michael, Elizabeth, Kevin, Peter, and Robert.
Funeral arrangements are from the O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. Visiting will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 am Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan.

Paul William Heyniger
Lakewood resident Paul William Heyniger, formerly of Sea Girt, died Sunday, Dec. 8 in his home.
He was 90 years old.
Born in Belmar, Mr. Heyniger lived in Sea Girt for many years before moving to Harrogate, Lakewood five years ago. He has also maintained a residence in Delray Beach, Fla.
He was a graduate of Manasquan High School, Class of 1930, and of Michigan State University.
He was employed as a civil engineer with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Harrisburg, Pa., and had worked on the construction of the Garden State Parkway. He belonged to several engineering societies.
He attended St. Uriel the Archangel Episcopal Church, Sea Girt.
He was an exempt member of the Sea Girt Fire Department.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his niece and nephews, Robert Heyniger, Winslow Township, William Heyniger IV, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Richard Heyniger, New York City, and Leslie Campbell, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and one sister-in-law, Janet Heyniger, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Funeral arrangements are from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the funeral home.
Brett T. Calabrese
Wall Township resident Brett T. Calabrese died Tuesday, Dec. 10 in his home
He was 23 years old.
Born in Neptune, Mr. Calabrese lived in Wall Township for most of his life.
He was a graduate of Wall High School, Class of 1997, where he was a member of the wrestling and baseball teams and the National Honor Society.
He was a graduate of Penn State University, State College, Pa., with a degree in geography, Class of 2001, where he was a member of the Beta PSI Fraternity.
He was employed as a GIS environmental technician with the engineering firm Najrian Associates, Inc. of Eatontown for the past year and one half.
He was greatly loved by all and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his mother and father, Jay and Barbara, and his sister, Lauren, all of Wall Township; maternal grandmother Jackie Catley, of Ocean Grove; uncles and aunts, Phil and Patty Calabrese, of Lakewood, James and Gale Lynch, Sanabel, Fla., Thomas and Marilynne Catley, of Neptune; and two cousins, Kearstyn and Jonathan.
Funeral arrangements are from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar. Visiting will be from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove.
Valerie Ann Adam
Brielle resident Valerie Ann Gentilella Adam died Saturday, April 26 at her son's home in Brick Township.
She was 65 years old.
Born in Englewood, Mrs. Adam lived in Fairview and Sea Girt before moving to Brielle many years ago.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Trenton State Teachers College and a master's degree in reading from Georgian Court College, Lakewood.
She was employed for 19 years as a teacher with Red Bank Catholic High School, retiring in 2000.
She was a communicant of St. Martha's Church, Point Pleasant.
She was awarded the "Outstanding Catholic Educator of the Year Award" by the Diocese of Trenton in 1996.
She was a member and former president of the Brielle Elementary School PTA and had also served in various capacities on the Brielle Board of Education for nine years.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis W. and Brenda, Merritt Island, Fla., Christopher M. and Katherine, Brick, and Mark V. and Barbara, Eatontown; one daughter and son-in-law, Maria L. and Michael Jackson, Berwyn, Pa.; one sister, Judith M. Canton, Brick; and five grandchildren, Stephanie, Jennifer, Megan, Sarah, and Jared.
