Carl A. Lind

Beachwood resident Carl A. Lind, formerly of Brielle, died Thursday, April 3 in Presbyterian Hospital, Philadelphia.

He was 43 years old.

Born in Reading, Pa., Mr. Lind lived in Brielle before moving to Beachwood 18 years ago.

He attended Marlboro High School and graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School in 1977.

He was employed for over 20 years with Spectrum Auto Supply, Wall. He also was employed in maintenance with the Monmouth County Vocational School, Wall.

He was the 1968 poster child for Cystic Fibrosis, the 2002 Cystic Fibrosis Man of the Year, the South Jersey director for New Jersey State Organization for Cystic Fibrosis, and the manager of the Cystic Fibrosis women's fast pitch softball team "Joe's Angels," Seaside Heights.

In 1986 Carl was instrumental in passing a bill in the New Jersey State Legislation for the Development of Cystic Fibrosis Adult Program in pharmaceutical assistance.

He was predeceased by his mother, Avy Lind.

Surviving are his wife, JoAnn Barrett Lind; two sons, Steven and Scott, Beechwood; one daughter, Nicole Lind, Beechwood; his father and stepmother, Carl and Charlene Lind, Indiana; and two sisters, Sandra Lind, and Diane Nichols, both of Seattle.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Elizabeth L. Coder

Manasquan resident Elizabeth Lawlor Coder died Saturday, April 5 in her home.

She was 79 years old.

Born in Neptune, Mrs. Coder lived in Bradley Park before moving to Manasquan 48 years ago.

She was a graduate of Neptune High School.

She was employed as a special officer and crossing guard with the Manasquan Police Department, and was previously employed as a long distance operator and supervisor with Bell Telephone Co., Asbury Park, during World War II.

She was a former member of the West Grove Methodist Church, Neptune.

She was a member of the Hook and Ladder Auxiliary No. 1, Manasquan, the Big Blue Boosters, the Manasquan-Brielle Little League Auxiliary, and the Manasquan AARP. She was a past president of the Manasquan First Aid Auxiliary, the co-chairperson of the Manasquan 100th Anniversary Parade, and was a former member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, James B. Coder Jr.; three sons, Carl J., Andover, Mass., and James C. and J. Drew, both of Manasquan; one daughter, Melanee Monell, Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Robert Kellenberger Jr.

Manasquan resident Robert V. "Bobby" Kellenberger Jr. died Tuesday, April 8 in his home.

He was 34 years old.

Born in Queens, N.Y., Mr. Kellenberger lived in Holmdel and Richardson, Texas, before moving to Manasquan three years ago.

He was a graduate of Holmdel High School.

He was employed with Home Depot, Richardson, Texas, before returning to New Jersey.

Surviving are his parents, Robert V. and Mary Crowley Kellenberger, Manasquan; two brothers and one sister-in-law, James and Teri, Las Vegas, Nev., and John, Manasquan; one sister, Anne Marie Kellenberger, Garland, Texas; and two nieces and two nephews.

Funeral arrangements are from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. Visiting will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. tomorrow in St. Catharine's Church, Middletown Road, Holmdel.

Contributions in Mr. Kellenberger's memory may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Catharine's Church, P.O. Box 655, Holmdel, 07733.

Anne W. Sokolik

Spring Lake resident Anne Wolyniec Sokolik died Thursday, April 3 in Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.

She was 82 years old.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Mrs. Sokolik was a resident of Spring Lake for the past 30 years.

She was employed as a legal assistant with the Irving Trust Company, New York City, retiring in 1980.

She was a communicant of the St. Catharine/St. Margaret Parish, Spring Lake, and was a member of its Renew group and served as a Rite of Christian Initiation sponsor.

She served on the Monmouth County Board of Elections, and was a member of several other local organizations.

Mrs. Sokolik was involved with several literary societies and was an award-winning needlepoint artist.

She was predeceased in 1972 by her husband, Frank C. Sokolik, a Jersey City detective.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Frank and Violet, Hunt Valley, Md., and Peter, New York City; one daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Bob Bourbonnais, Avondale, Pa.; four grandchildren, Christine Jenkins, Amy Kaczynski, and Corinne and Mark Sokolik; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Elaine Weidner

Brick Township resident Elaine "Minnie" Weidner, whose granddaughter lives in Brielle, died Tuesday, April 1 in her home.

She was 76 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Weidner lived in Little Neck, N.Y., before moving to Brick.

She was employed for many years with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

She was a communicant of St. Dominic's Church, Brick.

She was a supporter of many charities, and enjoyed cards with family and friends and was fond of baseball games and the Yankees.

She was predeceased in 1981 by her loving husband, Alban R. Weidner; and by her parents, Thomas Gumbardo and Mae Sylvester Bardo; and one brother, William Bardo.

Surviving are one brother, Harold Bardo, Brooklyn, N.Y.; four grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia and Victor Tomkiel, Brielle, Thomas and Nancy Myers, Brick, and Diana Meyers and Gregory Meyers, both of Point Pleasant; seven great-grandchildren, Lauren, Katelyn and Emma Meyers, Allison and Jonathan Parana, and Nicole and Jack Tomkiel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 12 in St. Dominic's Church, Brick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Weidner's memory may be made to the Trappist Abbey of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Laffayett, OR 97127.

Haru K. Hains

Georgetown, Texas, resident Haru K. Hains, formerly of Manasquan, died Friday, April 4 in her home.

She was 83 years old.

Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Hains lived in Manasquan for 27 years before moving to Florida in 1979, and then to Texas.

She was employed as a legal secretary.

She was active in the Monmouth County Association of Legal Secretaries, and served as the president of the National Association of Legal Secretaries.

Mrs. Hains was a devoted wife, caring mother and wonderful grandmother, and enjoyed singing in the church choir, entertaining family and friends at home, theatre in New York City, beach parties, sailing, and Scrabble and Boggle games.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roy D. Hains, her parents, Shoki and Anna Kaneshiro, and two sisters, Neddie and Yoshi.

Surviving are one son, Michael L., Old Saybrook, Conn.; one daughter, Sue Hains, Georgetown, Texas; three sisters, Hana Conover, Mina Kaneshiro and Constance Hazen; three grandchildren, Marie Wright, Round Rock, Texas, Michael Hains, Connecticut, and Lori Scearbo, Massachusetts; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Wright, Jacob, Lily and Sophie Scearbo, and Michael and Jenna Hains.

Funeral arrangements were from the Forever All Faith Funeral Service, Austin, Texas.

Anthony P. Campi

Sea Girt resident Anthony P. Campi died Thursday, Nov. 5 in his home.

He was 80 years old.

Born in Netcong, Mr. Campi lived in South Orange for many years and in Livingston for 10 years before moving to Sea Girt seven years ago.

He was the owner/operator of Anthony's of 5th Avenue, and later of the Mardi Gras Salon, South Orange, for 25 years before retiring in 1973. He later owned the Wild Flowers Emporium Restaurant, Livingston.

He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church, Sea Girt, and a member of its Holy Name Society and Social Concerns Committee.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 68, West Caldwell, the Old Guard, Livingston, and the Giblin Association, and a charter and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, South Orange.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Mary T. Culhane Campi; four sons, Vincent, Millburn, Michael, Short Hills, Anthony, Sea Girt, and Patrick, New York City; one daughter, Kathleen Galvin, Maplewood; one sister, Mary Rapissardi, Whippany; and seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Brendan, Sean, Shannon, Patrick, and Claire.

Funeral arrangements were from the O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

William James Meeker

Wall Township resident William James Meeker died Friday, Dec. 5 in his home.

Born in Orange, Mr. Meeker was a lifelong resident of Wall.

He was a graduate of Wall High School.

He was employed as a rehab engineer with Clayton Adaptive Rehab Equipment Co. [CARE], Toms River, where he was a custom wheelchair designer. He was previously employed with Schwartz Medical, Union.

He was a member of St. Andrew's Methodist Church, Spring Lake.

He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the National Rifle Association, an enjoyed literature, travel, photography, and music.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Ellen Meeker; two daughters, Amy Elizabeth Meeker and Ellen Patricia Meeker, Wall; his mother, Patricia Lambert, New Harbor, Maine; his father, James Mitchell Meeker, Spring Lake; one brother, James Lambert Meeker, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; and one sister, Amy Jane Haas, Newton, Mass.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.
