Marvin Gutschmit
Spring Lake resident Marvin Gutschmit died Saturday, Oct. 5 in his home.
He was 76 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Gutschmit grew up in New Brunswick and lived in Elmsford, N.Y., and New York City before retiring to his home in Spring Lake.
He was the founder of Marcrest Knitting Mills and president of the company until his retirement.
An avid fisherman, Mr. Gutschmit founded the Runaway Marine Corporation, Point Pleasant, where he designed and built the sport fishing boats of that name.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
He was predeceased by his brother, Alan.
Surviving are his wife, Paula Gutschmit; his mother, Lillian Gutschmit; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Mimi, Tokyo; two daughters and one son-n-law, Lisa and John Martin, Spring Lake, and Lauren Goodsmith, Baltimore; and his beloved grandchildren, Brianna and Nathaniel Martin, and Nicholas and Rachel Gutschmit.
Private funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Contributions in Mr. Gutschmit's memory may be made to the Spring Lake First Aid or to the Salvation Army.
Dennis J. Poppe
Asbury Park resident Dennis J. Poppe, formerly of Belmar, died Sunday, Sept. 15 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 59 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, Mr. Poppe lived in White Plains, N.Y., and Belmar, before moving to Asbury Park.
He was a graduate of St. Peters College, Jersey City.
He was employed with Western Electric Co., Orange and Greensboro, N.C.
He was an avid golfer.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Craig and Christine, and Brian, all of North Carolina; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Carol, Union, and Paul and Rita, Cranford; one sister and brother-in-law, Peg and John Burns, New City, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Trevor, Alia, and Elizabeth Ann Poppe; Lynn Poppe, Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.
Carmine Cherichello
Spring Lake Heights resident Carmine Cherichello died Tuesday, Oct. 8 in his home.
He was 80 years old.
Mr. Cherichello was a resident of Cranford for 35 years before moving to Spring Lake Heights three years ago.
He was employed as a machinist with General Dynamics, Carteret, retiring 10 years ago.
He was a parishioner of St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Spring Lake Heights.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Cherichello; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Peter J. and Kimberly, East Brunswick, and Thomas J., Jackson; one daughter, Jane E. Cherichello, Belmar; and one grandson.
Funeral arrangements are from the O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. Visiting hours will be 6 to 9 p.m tomorrow in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake.
Barbara D. De Friest

Wall Township resident Barbara Davis De Friest, died Tuesday, Jun 19 in her home. She was 86 years old. She was born in San Francisco and lived in Plainfield before moving to Manasquan in 1948 and then to Wall in 1954. She was a substitute teacher in Wall and Manasquan schools and a librarian at the Manasquan Public Library from 1964-1976, when she retired. She was a member of the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, Plainfield. She was predeceased by her husband, John B. De Friest. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Amato and Susan Matthew, Wall, a sister Florence Glide. Brick Township, four grandchildren and her beloved friend, Phil Parkinson, Pt. Pleasant. Beloved Wife
Brick Township resident Kristin Scerrato McKinney died Friday, June 22 at home. She was 31 years old. She was employed at the Tinton Falls Group Home of the Monmouth County Association for Retarded Citizens for the past 10 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan. She was a graduate of Wall High School. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth McKinney, Brick, her in-laws, Robert and Joyce McKinney, North Carolina, her parents, Robert and Marilou Howell Scerrato, Manasquan, and Rev. Gayle Donnelly, New York, her sister, Kimberly Scerrato, her aunt, Sharon Scerrato and her uncle, Terrance Donnelly. Cyril 'Billy' Parsons

Manasquan resident, Cyril W. 'Billy' Parsons died Saturday, June 23 in Lakeview Care Center, Lakewood. He was 87 years old. He was born in Wood Haven, Long Island and lived in Mt.Vernon, N.Y. before moving to Manasquan in 1970. He was employed as a automotive truck mechanic at the Leroy M. Sterges Studebaker and Willies Overland Jeep dealership, Mount Vernon, N.Y. for 28 years, retiring in 1957. He served as a S/Sgt. in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of both the Mount Vernon and Manasquan VFW posts. During his years in Manasquan, Billy was considered a handyman extraordinaire and Paramount Diner bon vivant. An orphan, he leaves behind a small circle of friends whom he always considered his family. The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home will be in charge of funeral arrangements, which will be private.

Beloved Mother
Wall Township resident Florence Campbell, died Wednesday, June 20 in Jersey Shore Medical Center. She was 60 years old. She was born in Bayonne, lived for seven years in Middletown, then in Haugue, Holland. She lived in Spring Lake for 23 years, before moving to Wall 2 years ago. She was a member of the Spring Lake Golf Club, Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club and the Garden Club of Spring Lake. She was also a member and recording secretary of the Green GAbles Croquet Club, Spring Lake; the Brielle Woman's Club and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ann May Alliance of Jersey Shore Medical Center. She was also a member of the Society of Decorative Painters, the Garden State Decorative Artists and a former member of the St. Catharineıs Grammar School Parent Teacherıs Association. Surviving is a son, Eugene of Kent, Conn., 2 daughters, Tara Campbell Maiolini, Wall and Megan Campbell Leggett, Washington, D.C., her former husband Eugene, Farmingdale; a brother, John Garrett, Bradenton, Fla. and she was the loving 'Nonnabella' of Max, Michael, Eve and Emmeline.
Ralph C. Hall
Memorial Service Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Ralph Hall, Sea Girt. It will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity, Third and Monmouth Avenue, Spring Lake. Mr. Hall died February 11, and is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hall; his son, Norman Hall; his daughter, Barbara Hillman and four grandchildren, Sea Girt.

Wall resident Karen A. (nee Jaques) Barone died on Monday, June 25 at the Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brick. She was 57 years old. Born in Pt. Pleasant, Mrs. Barone lived in Neptune before moving to Wall 35 years ago. Mrs. Barone was a real estate agent at Coldwell Banker in Wall. She served 20 years on the Monmouth County Board of Realtors. She was very active on the Monmouth County Board of Elections and served many years on the County Committee as well as being involved with politics in Wall Township. She also enjoyed several volunteer activities at the First Presbyterian Church of Belmar where she was a member. Mrs. Barone was predeceased by her father, William F. Surviving are her three sons Frank J. and his wife Janice, Wall, Barry G., Sea Girt, David C., Mount Joy, Pa.; her daughter, Karen L. and her husband Richard Wonsala, Manasquan; her mother, Edna L. Jaques, Pt. Pleasant Beach; her former husband Frank A., Neptune; two sisters Doris J. Daniels, Brick and Sherri L. Diwell, Jackson and three grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are from the OıBrien Funeral Home, Wall. Visiting will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The service will be held at 8:30 p.m. at the conclusion on the evening visitation hours. Interment will be private. Memorial service this Saturday for Tres Wagner
On Saturday, April 27, former Spring Lake Heights resident Tres Wagner, 30, died after a nearly two-year long battle against a brain tumor.
Mr. Wagner recently moved to California with his wife, Alicia, and two daughters, Autumn, 2 and one-half years old, and Lily, who just celebrated her first birthday.
'We lived life every day to the fullest,' said Mrs. Wagner. 'We had no regrets about anything. That would sum up our final time together.'
Marcel 'Tres' Wagner is also survived by his parents, Marcel and Ruthanne, Spring Lake; his brother, Greg Wagner, Red Bank; his sister, Kerrie Wagner, Red Bank; his sister and brother-in-law, Megan and John Modin, and his nephews, Justin Wagner Modin and Patrick John Modin, all Red Bank.
A memorial service will be held this Saturday in St. Catharine Church in Spring Lake at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mr. Wagnerıs name to the Duke University Medical Center Brain Tumor Center, PO Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710. The donations should be to the attention of David Sellman, 02 TW Fund.

Sea Girt resident Patricia Elizabeth Fromm Mon died Tuesday, April 23 in her home.
She was 52 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, Mrs. Mon lived in Marlboro for 15 years before moving to Sea Girt 10 years ago.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed bowling, the beach, and fishing.
She was a communicant of St. Leoıs Church, Lincroft, and St. Gabrielıs Church, Marlboro.
Surviving are her husband, Antonio; one son, Daniel, New York City; one daughter, Lauren Mon, Sea Girt; and one brother, John Fromm, Middletown.

World War II Veteran
Wall Township resident Carroll L. Miller Sr. died Wednesday, April 24 in Burnt Tavern Convalescent Center, Brick Township.
He was 74 years old.
Born in Dillon, S.C., Mr. Miller lived in Manasquan before moving to Wall in 1953.
He was employed as a milkman for many years with Shore Dairies and Tuscan Dairies, Union, retiring in 1991.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-1946.
He enjoyed bowling and fishing.
He was predeceased in 1983 by his loving wife, Hope Michels Miller.
Surviving are two sons, Carroll L. Jr., Kenilworth, and Malcolm Campbell, Wall; two daughters, Hope Hollenbeck, Chester, and Lois Craig, Summerland Key, Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Miller, and Doris Foreman, both of Dillon, S.C.; four sisters-in-law, Edna Miller, Oakhurst, Shirley Miller, Kate Miller, and Elizabeth Miller; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Wall Township resident Theresa M. Brown died Thursday, April 25 in her home.
She was 52 years old.
Born in Point Pleasant, Ms. Brown was a lifelong resident of Wall.
She was employed for 27 years as a secretary with Wall High School, until retiring on April 1.
She was a gentle and kind woman who always put others first.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Brooke A. and Scott Rotsma, Toms River; her mother, Regina Connors, East Stroudsburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Kaila and Lindsay Rotsma; her fiance, Garry 'Waggy' Clark, Howell Township; his son, Michael Clark, Wall; his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Mike Pistilli, Brick Township; four sisters, Kathy Schneider, Shark River Hills, Neptune, Jane OıLeary, Neptune, Eileen Wilson,Wall, and Patricia Connors, Manasquan; and eight nieces and nephews.

David Doey
Boat Captain
Key Largo, Fla., resident David Doey, formerly of Wall Township, died Wednesday, April 24 in Mariners Hospital.
He was 86 years old.
Born in New York City, Captain Doey lived in Wall Township before moving to Florida.
He was employed as a conductor with the Pennsylvania Railroad, and later became a boat captain after he obtained his masterıs license. He delivered boats from Nova Scotia to the Caribbean.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was one of eight men in his unit to survive 'D' Day, and worked with the French National Railway as a demolitions expert during the war.
He was predeceased in 1995 by his loving wife, Bertha Doey, a former Wall Township tax collector, and by his parents, Hadassa Black and Samuel Doey.
He was a member of the DVA, the VFW, and the Lionıs Club.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Larry Barr, Key Largo, Fla.; three grandchildren, Deanne Conroy, and her husband, Al, Long Island, N.Y.; Michael Holey, Daytona Beach, Fla., and David Holey, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Leah and Becky Conroy, all of Toms River; one sister, Eleanor Kiel, Sebastian, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Corrine Doey, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; and his constant companion for the past five years, his guide dog, Reggie.
