Richard J. Sumer, of Spring Lake, formerly of Mantoloking, died last Tuesday at home. He was 71 years old.
He was the founder and the president of the Canadian Home Furnishers Co. in Perth Amboy, which was established in 1951, retiring many years ago.
He was a communicant of St. Catharineıs Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake.
He was a member of the Spring Lake Golf Club and a former member of the PGA National Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He belonged to the 200 Club of Monmouth County.
Born in Garwood, he was raised in Linden, and lived in the Murray Hill section of New Providence and Curtis Point, Mantoloking, before moving to Spring Lake 24 years ago.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Helen Masley Sumer; a son, Gregory Sumer of Toms River; three daughters and sons-in-law
, Cynthia and Charles Basile of Long Valley, Patricia and Kermit Abrahamson of Livingston, and Christina and Rene Nadeau of Spring lake Heights; and 11 grandchildren, Corinne, Kelly, Kristen, Jeffrey, Matthew, Guy, Erin, Noelle and Logan.

Christopher 'Pop-Pop' Arasz, of Liberty, Maine, formerly of Brick Township, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday at home.
He was 87 years old.
He was a manager with Martellıs Boardwalk Entertainment in Point Pleasant Beach for more than 30 years
. He later worked at Frequency Engineering, Farmingdale, for 10 years.
He was actively involved in the invention of several carnival games. He enjoyed gardening, with both vegetables and flowers.
He was born in Hungary and lived in Rochester, N.Y., Lakewood, Asbury Park and Brick. He moved to Maine 22 years ago, living in Rockland and Liberty.
He was predeceased by his parents, Christopher and Margaret Goetz Arasz. Surviving are his former wife of 40 years,
Henrietta Heine Arasz; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Arasz of Liberty, Maine, and James and Susan Arasz of Brick; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Robert Taylor of Point Pleasant;
eight grandchildren, Kimberly Snow, Christine MacWilliams, Jamie Arasz-Prioli, James Arasz, Paul Arasz, Keith Arasz, Christine Nicholson and Robert Taylor; and a geat-granddaughter, Anastasia Snow.

SueMargaret B. Baab Lepis, of Lavallette, died Monday at Community Medical Center, Toms River.
She was 78 years old.
She was a summer resident of Lavallette since 1941, moving there permanently 10 years ago.
She was a special education teacher for the Hackensack School District for many years, retiring 15 years ago.
She received a bachelorıs degree in primary education from Trenton State Teacherıs College, now The College of New Jersey, and a masterıs degree in special education from William Paterson College.
She was a communicant of St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church, Lavallette, and a member of the Book & Needle Club, Oradell.
Born in Hackensack, she lived in Oradell and summered in Lavallette before moving to the Shore permanently.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, James Sr.; two sons, James Jr. of Oradell and William of New Hampshire; two daughters, Suzanne McLaughlin of Lavallette and Judy Jodice of North Carolina;

She was 77 years old.
She was a payroll clerk at Orbis, Newark, retiring in 1981.

Edmund George Ryan, of Manasquan, who used to live in Point Pleasant Beach, died Monday at home.
He was 85.
Born in Jersey City and raised in Plainfield, he lived in Brielle, Point Pleasant Beach and Freehold before moving to Manasquan 25 years ago.
He was a salesman for many years for the Hart-Middletown Co. in Ohio before retiring. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine from 1943 to 1945. He belonged to the Manasquan River Golf Club, Manasquan.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Eleanor M. Gray Ryan; and many nieces and nephews. OıBrien Funeral Home, Wall, is handling the arrangements.

Marion N. Martone, a former Point Pleasant Beach Councilwoman, died March 20.
She was predeceased by her husband, Patsy. Surviving are three daughters, Anna Marie Philips, Christine Ross and Patricia Martone; five grandchildren, Mary Pat Aldridge, Sheri Robinson,
Josette McMillan, Gregory Philips and Douglas Ross; three great-grandchildren; a brother; three sisters, and nieces and nephews.

Manasquan resident William C. Lowney died Saturday, May 26 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was 92 years old. Born in Harrison, Mr. Lowney lived in Kearny and in Maplewood for 22 years before moving to Manasquan in 1980. He was a graduate of Kearny High School, and attended New York University, New York City. He was employed for 48 years with Emeloid Company, Hillside, a division of Addressograph-Multigraph Co., retiring in 1970 as vice president and general manager. Billıs compassion, spirituality, enthusiasm for life, and deep love of family and friends will remain as his legacy. He was a member and usher of St. Denis Church, Manasquan. He was a member and usher of St. Cecilia Church, Kearny, and was the former president of the churchıs Holy Name Society. He was a member and former president of the St. Denis Senior Citizens Group, was the founder of the St. Denis Senior Shuffleboard Association, and a member of the South Monmouth Seniors Association. He was a member for 20 years and former president of the Maplewood Senior Citizens, and a 20 year member and former vice president of the Hillside Industrial Association. He was predeceased in 1992 by his wife, Josephine M. Cahill Lowney, one brother, John F., and one sister, Margaret M. Quinn. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne M. and Ron Singer, Irvine, Calif., and Barbara C. and Jack Langella, Manasquan; four grandsons, William, James, Thomas, and Michael; one brother-in-law, Ray Shanahan, New York; and one sister-in-law, Catherine C. Hamilton resident Cynthia A. Chrisner, whose son lives in Manasquan, died Sunday, May 27 in her home. She was 64 years old. Born in Long Island, N.Y., Rev. Chrisner was a longtime resident of the Hamilton area. She was a local pastor and served in that capacity for four years with the Windsor United Methodist Church. She did missionary work in Africa for nine months where she taught English as a second language in the Republic of the Congo. She was also the recreational director of the Bellevue Care Center Nursing Facility, Trenton. She was a former active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, and a spiritual leader among many. She was predeceased by her parents, Norma B. and Eugene Seck, and one brother, Russell E. Seck. Surviving are her husband, Jack L. Chrisner, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bruce E. and Ellen B., Manasquan, Larry, Elgin, Okla., and Scott and Deb, Hamilton; one brother, Robert F. Seck, Long Island, N.Y.; one sister, Jeannie Vasseur, Sun Lakes, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Daniel Sacogwitz, and Chelsea, Andrew, and Shelby Chrisner, all of Hamilton; one sister-in-law, Frances Chamber, Port Orange, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Wall Township resident Elizabeth B. Slivko Noorigian died Thursday, May 24 in Medi-Center, Neptune. She was 84 years old. Born in McKeesport, Pa, Mrs. Noorigian lived in North Jersey and Clearwater, Fla., before moving to Wall in 1964. She attended St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake. Surviving are her husband, George; three sons, Dennis P., and George R., both of Wall, and Kenneth, San Diego; one sister, Ann Zigo, Brick Township; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Avon-by-the-Sea resident Samuel Forrest died Wednesday, May 23 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was 92 years old. Born in Westford, Mass., Mr. Forrest lived in Jersey City before moving to Avon in 1974. He attended schools in Springfield. He was employed for many years as the general manager of the Hotel Plaza, Jersey City, retiring in 1974. He was a communicant and usher of St. Elizabeth Church, Avon. He was a member of the American Hotel Association, a member and director of the New Jersey Hotel and Motel Association, and past president of the Hotel Greeters of America. He was an honorary life member of the Jersey City Elks Lodge No. 211, a trustee of the Belmar Fishing Club, and a member of the Avon Leisure Citizens. He was predeceased in 1989 by his wife, Antoinette Aumente Forrest, in 1985 by his son, Robert, and in 1996 by his step-daughter, Elizabeth Miller. Surviving are four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Ruth Carlson. Funeral arrangements were from the Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, Wall Township.

West Belmar, Wall Township resident Jeanne B. Enders Trail died Monday, May 21 in King Manor Nursing Home, Neptune. She was 89 years old. Born in New York City, Mrs. Trail lived in Wall for 60 years. She was employed for 25 years as a pediatric care nurses aid with Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Belmar VFW Auxiliary and the Belmar Nutrition Center. She was predeceased in 1972 by her husband, William Trail, and in 1991 by her son, Richard V Enders. Surviving are one son, William R. She was a member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church and the churchıs Quilting Circle. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Manasquan Hook & Ladder Fire Company No. 1, and the Surf & Sand Trailer Travel Club. She was predeceased in 1982 by her husband, David Anderson, and in 1932 by her brother, James. Sea Girt resident Catherine M. Purcell died Sunday, May 27 in her home. She was 100 years old. Born in Hoboken, Miss Purcell lived in Weehawken before moving to Sea Girt 20 years ago. She earned a bachelorıs degree from Montclair State College, and a masterıs degree from Seton Hall University. She was employed for 40 years as a teacher in Weehawken, retiring in 1961. After her retirement she was a world traveller. She was a communicant of St. Mark Church, Sea Girt, and a member of the parish Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Juvenile Conference Committee, Weehawken, and the Advisory Council of the Weehawken Adult School. She was predeceased by her sister, Grace Jaeger. South Belmar resident Isaac 'Ike' H. Reiff died Tuesday, May 22 in his sonıs home in Howell. He was 85 years old. Born in Warren, Pa., Mr. Reiff moved to South Belmar in 1949. He was employed as the Monmouth County Under Sheriff, before retiring. He was a communicant of St. Rose Church, Belmar. He was a former mayor of South Belmar, and a member of the South Belmar Democratic Club. He was a member of the Belmar VFW and American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was predeceased in 1987 by his wife, Amelia M. Surviving are five sons, John, and Thomas, both of Wall Township, Edward, Pittsburgh, Robert, Howell, and William, Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Marilyn George, Charlotte, N.C.; five brothers, Richard, Marvin, Warren, Franz, and Frank, and one sister, Rozella Andrea, all of Warren, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
