Elizabeth M. “Betty” Christos (nee Ordille), age 83 of Hammonton, died Friday December 20, 2013 at AtlantiCare in Galloway. Born and raised in Hammonton, she graduated from Hammonton High School in 1948. Betty was a member of the Red Hat Society and former member of Order of the Eastern Star Dewey Chapter # 155 of Egg Harbor City.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Christos and parents Joseph and Margaret Ordille. Surviving are her children, Thomas Christos (Beth) of Voorhees, Paul Christos (Kathleen) of Middleburg, Fla., Julie Comunale (Bill) of Hammonton, Judy Miller (Scott) of Newfield, NJ and Margie Coakley (Stephen) of Leesburg, Va.; her sisters, Mildred Ordille of Voorhees and Rosemary DeLiso of Oaklyn, NJ; loving grandchildren, Brandy Christos (Dale), Daria Christos, Ryan Comunale, Krista Comunale Leach (Jeff), Megan Comunale, Scott Miller (Jamie), Amanda Miller, Jordan, Taylor and Stephen Coakley, Jamie and Juliana Christos; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Autumn and Evan Dale, Jayden and Karis DeKlerk, Nicholas, Corrado and Zoey J. Miller.

Roberta Sherman, 71, of Galloway Township died on Thursday at her daughter’s home in Hammonton. Born in Philadelphia, she was a resident of Galloway Township for 20 years. Mrs. Sherman worked at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Sherman; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Luna Sherman and Nicolas Luna Ramirez of Hammonton; four grandchildren, Joseph, Isabella, Elena and Antonio and one great-grandson, Jaydon.

Marie C. Fondacaro (nee Puleo), age 74 of Hammonton, died Wednesday March 12, 2014 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona.
Born in Camden, she was a lifelong resident of Hammonton, graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1956 and was a member of the cheerleading squad. She worked for ACME Markets and HIMCO, both located in Hammonton. Marie was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devoted member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish.
Predeceased by her daughter, Terese M. Fondacaro and parents, Nunce and Katharine Puleo. Surviving are her three sons, Joseph Jr. and his wife Charlotte (nee Parker), Gregory and his wife Donna (nee Maccarella) of Sewell and Steven and his wife Deena (nee Ciffelli) of Jensen Beach, Fla. Loving grandmother of Nicholas, Nathan, Sarah, Lindsay, Kristina, Joseph Charles, Sarena and Stevie and great-grandmother of Victoria Rose.

Elberta A. Staiger (nee Longo), age 66 of Hammonton, died on Monday March 10, 2014 at Virtua Hopsital in Marlton. Born in Hammonton, she was a lifelong resident and a graduate from Hammonton High School in 1965. She was a former member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, the Altar Rosary Society and taught Sunday school for more than 30 years. Elberta was also a member of the Sunshine Foundation, the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society Women’s Auxiliary, the Blue Birds, volunteered at St. Joseph Church and was a former Candy Striper at William B. Kessler Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed being with her family, her dogs, pottery and drawing.
She is predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Frances Longo. The beloved wife of Donald for more than 44 years; devoted mother of Donald II and his wife Kimberly of Maple Shade, Jeffrey L. of Hammonton, Brent J. of Atco and Ryan N. of Hammonton; dear sister of Lawrence Longo and Frances (nee Longo) DeSordi (Frank) all of Hammonton and loving grandmother of Sarina and Carissa. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, Nicole, Lora, Stacy, Larry and Heagher.

Abel P. Turnier, MD, age 93 of Voorhees, formerly of Ancora, died on March 8, 2014. The beloved husband of Antonie (nee Richter) and the late Leyla (nee Erduran). Dr. Turnier was Director of Pathology at Ancora State Hospital from 1962-1989.
Loving father of Refika Turnier, Auguste Turnier (Abby), Octavie Geddie, Heike Benda-Blanck, Kerstin Blanck and the late Ali Kiykioglu; devoted grandfather of Alexander and Sabrina Turnier, Timur and Tamer Kiykioglu, Christian, Conrad and Caroline Blanck, Jacob, Joshua and Rachel Rhodes; great-grandfather of Ella Kiykioglu; dear brother of Marguerite Derenoncourt, Pauline Lemoine, Serge Turnier, and Mireille Hansel.

Margaret Ann Stringer, 52, of Hammonton, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
As a member of an Army family, Margaret traveled extensively growing up. She was a graduate of Mainland Regional High School, West Chester University, and Temple University with a Master’s Degree. Margaret was the swimming teacher and physical education teacher at Hess School in Mays Landing since it opened in 1991, as well as a Girl Scout troop leader. She was an avid swimmer and tri-athlete. She instilled her passion into her students as a life-long teacher.
Margaret was the beloved daughter of LTC (Ret) Paul and Louise Stringer, the proud mother of Valerie Berrios, stepmother of Laura Berrios, grandmother of Wyatt, and adored sister and aunt with nine siblings, their spouses, and 17 nephews and nieces. Margaret was beloved by all who knew her.

Anthony J. Angello, 87 of Hammonton, died on Saturday, March 15, 2014, in Virtua Hospital in Berlin. Born in Hammonton, he was a lifelong resident of Rosedale and Hammonton. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his service in the Korean War, he worked on the family farm in Rosedale where he started Angello’s Liquors. He installed wells with his father before serving his country. Mr. Angello was a former bus driver for the Hammonton School District Bus #14. He also worked at Whitehall Laboratories in Hammonton and was the owner/operator of A. Angello Plumbing, 24-hour plumbing service. He was a member of the Hammonton Exchange Club, and served terms as their president and vice president and had the honor of being the longest serving member. Mr. Angello was also a member of the American Legion F.A. Funston Post 186 in Hammonton. Mr. Angello looked forward to and enjoyed family gatherings, loved dancing, was an avid bowler, and a Phillies fan.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Bessie Angello; his brothers, Domenic (Dorothy) and James (Catherine) and his sisters, Anna (Matthew) Caruso and Edna (Larry) Donahue. He is survived by four sisters, Genevieve Angello, Theresa Farina, Marie Warner all of Maryland, Delores Anderson of Virginia; three very special nieces who helped him throughout the years, Dorothy M. Angello (Charles P. Macri), Joanne (Michael) Mangano and Helen (Eric) Bell all of Hammonton; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 20 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, Church of St. Joseph’s 226 French St., Hammonton. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre cemetery, Hammonton. Viewings will be held today, March 19 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Michael Galardi, 51 of Hammonton, died on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Born in Germany, he was a lifelong resident of Hammonton.
Michael served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He worked as an operations manager for Comcast Cable for more than 20 years, having worked in Wildwood, Vineland and Turnersville (Jones Cable). Michael was an avid golfer, and he bowled in a bowling league for many years.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles Galardi. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Swanfeld Galardi; two sons, Joshua Galardi and Jordan Galardi; one daughter, Kiri Galardi all of Hammonton; his mother, Helga Galardi of Egg Harbor City; one brother, Bruce Galardi; his mother-in-law, Patricia Milane (George) of Collings Lakes; his father-in-law, George Swanfeld (Patricia) of Little Egg Harbor; his uncle, Joseph Galardi of Hammonton; two aunts, Marie Friedley (Ed) of Michigan, and Gerri Reitz of Tryon, N.C., his two brothers-in-law, George Swanfeld and Edward Swanfeld both of Collings Lakes. He is also survived by his family in Germany including his Tante Christi (Hermann) and cousins Petra and Tomas.

Harry S. McKnight, 83 of Collings Lakes, died on March 15, 2014 at his residence.
Born in Philadelphia, he has been a resident of Collings Lakes since 1957. He retired in 1994 as a manager of research development at Boeing Aircraft, Morton, Pa. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Airborne Infantry during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 252 Williamstown. Harry was an avid boater and loved to fish.
Predeceased by a son, Harry S. III. Surviving are his wife, Dorris (nee Hurt); one son, Donald (Jeanne) of Folsom; three daughters, Colleen Turzanski (Joseph) of Collings Lakes, Susan Daniels of Atco, Karen Schenke (Eric) of Winslow; daughter-in-law, Mary of Collings Lakes; two sisters, Doris Little of N.J., Jacqueline DiRenza (Peter) of San Diego, Calif.; also 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Antoinette Continisio, 95 of Hammonton, died peacefully on March 15, 2014 at Virtua Hospital, Berlin. Born in Atlantic City, she was a lifelong Hammonton resident, graduated from Hammonton High School in 1935 and attended the University of Pennsylvania.
During World War II, Antoinette worked for the Quartermaster Corps in Philadelphia and later worked in the family grocery business, Monastra’s Market, in Hammonton where she was a familiar presence to many locals. She was a charter member of the Hammonton Chapter of Soroptimist International, was active in many Catholic Church activities including Stella Maris, Catholic Daughters and the Altar and Rosary Society and was a longtime Kessler Memorial Hospital volunteer. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Toni” by most Hammontonians.
She was fiercely independent and lived life to its fullest. Until her final days, she was actively engaged in the lives of her loved ones to whom she relentlessly preached her mantra for a long life – “the Mediterranean Diet” and “Motion is Lotion.”
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 32 years, Aurelio “Lobby” Continisio; her father, Anthony Russo who passed away prior to her birth; her mother, Rose E. (Berenato) Monastra; her step-father, Carl Monastra who entered her life when she was five years of age and who she always called “Daddy” and her sister, Rosemary MacIlwaine. She is survived by her sisters, Rita Howell of Hammonton and Marie Gower (John) of Naples, Fla.; her niece, Susan Coan (George); nephews, Brian Howell (Lisa), Jeffrey Howell, John Howell (Donna) and Robert Howell (Monica), William MacIlwaine IV (Linda), John MacIlwaine (Kathy ), Geoffrey MacIlwaine (Pam), Richard Allen MacIlwaine ( Kathy), Thomas MacIlwaine (Liz); 15 great-nieces and nephews and many loving members of the Continisio family.

Minerva Balseiro, 80, of Hammonton, died March 11, 2014 at her residence. Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico she was a homemaker and has been a longtime resident of South Jersey.
She was predeceased by her husband Manuel in 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Manuel Jr., Ricardo C.; five daughters, Veronica Rivera, Beverly Balseiro, Bernadette Rosado, Vivian Rodriquez, Lourdes Cosme; one brother, Joachin; one sister, Miriam; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 15 at the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish St. Joseph Church Hammonton.
Interment followed in the Holy Sepulchre cemetery.
