EMANUEL SHAPIRO, 78, of FREEHOLD, died Friday, Dec. 8, at home. Mr. Shapiro was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in Oakland before moving to Freehold in 1981. He received his master's degree in psychology from Jersey City State College. Mr. Shapiro was a member of the N.J. Education Association. He was a psychologist for the Manalapan-Englishtown School District for over 25 years, retiring in 1999.

Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Kathryn Shapiro; a daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Charles Marraccini of Mantoloking; a stepson, John Oesmann of Mount Olive Township; two stepdaughters, Cathy Layden of Fremont, Calif., and Nancy Oesmann of Hilton Head, S.C.; and four grandchildren, Michele, Jackie, Tracy, and Kelsey.

Visiting hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, NJ 07702-4201 and would be appreciated.

JEANNE SHRECK, 87, of FREEHOLD, died Friday, May 25, at The Manor, Freehold. Mrs. Shreck was born in Wilmington, Del., and had lived in Mariner's Harbor, Staten Island, and Marlboro before moving to Silvermead, Freehold, in 1977. She was a member of the American & New Jersey Association of Directors of Hospital Volunteers, a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company, Marlboro, and a member and past president of the Marlboro Township Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Shreck was the Freehold Area Hospital's first employee as the Administrator's Secretary before becoming the Director of Volunteers, a position she held for 17 years, retiring in 1987.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent A. in 2000; her son, Vincent George in 2001; and two brothers and a sister, Edward Beauchamp, Robert Beauchamp and Betty Dilks. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Jeanne Curcio of Freehold; six grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia and Dr. Allen Ongsiako of Holmdel, Andrea and William Clauser of Point Pleasant, Ellyn and David Dobson of Howell, John Curcio of Freehold, Debra and Clifford Leonge of West Windsor, and Leanne and Brian Cook of Freehold; and 13 great-grandchildren, Taryn, Brianna, and Catherine Ongsiako, Jessica, Emily, and Will Clauser, Amanda, Nicole and Sean Dobson, Gina and Jake Curcio and Abigail and Tess Cook.

Visitation will be held from 9: 30 to 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold. A funeral service will follow at a time to be announced on Tuesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 33 Throckmorton St., Freehold, with the Rev. Frank Hebert officiating. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Jeanne's memory be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

GREGORY P. SILK, 23, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, at University of Medicine & Dentistry, Newark. Gregory was born in Livingston and moved to Freehold Township at age 2. He was in sales at Dick's Sporting Goods at the Freehold Raceway Mall, Freehold Township. Prior to that, he was a salesman at the Nissan Dealership, Freehold Township. He was a graduate of Freehold Township High School, Class of 2001, where he played football. He was also a graduate of DeVry Institute. He loved music and played the guitar.

Surviving are his parents, Gregory E. and Linda Gresham Silk of Freehold Township; and two sisters, Jennifer Carson and Kimberly Silk, both of Freehold Township.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. His Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at The Church of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.

HELENE M. SKOCZYLAS, 69, of HOWELL, died Friday, June 16 at home. Mrs. Skoczylas was born in Pittsfield, Mass. and had lived in New York City before moving to Howell in 1964. She was devoted to her grandchildren. Mrs. Skoczylas held a clerical position with Health South Rehabilitation, Freehold Township, for the last 10 years. Prior to that, Mrs. Skoczylas worked in the office of Joseph Schauer, M.D., Farmingdale.
She is survived by two sons, Brian Skoczylas of Horseheads, N.Y. and Michael Skoczylas of Galloway Township; two daughters, Debra Reed of Howell and Laura Wilson of Washington Township; and five grandchildren, Daniel, Justin, Kimberly, Karyssa, and Matthew.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend her memorial service at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Christ United Methodist Church, 678 Fifth St., Lakewood, with Pastor June Stitzinger-Clark officiating. Arrangements are by the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.

SERGE P. SODBINOW, 89, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of SOUTH BRUNSWICK, died Wednesday, April 25.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. A funeral service will be held at 10: 30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Vladimir's Cemetery, Jackson.

JOHN "JACK" SOULE, 72, of HOWELL, died Wednesday, March 7, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Soule was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and had lived in Springfield, Belleville and Jackson before moving to Howell in 2000. He was a warehouse worker in the shipping and receiving department of Moore's Business Forms, Cranbury, for over 10 years, retiring in 2000. Prior to that, he was a rate analyst at Ford Motors, Linden. He was a former member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge, Jackson.

He was predeceased by his sister, Alice Pero. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Soule; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Christina Soule of Andover; two granddaughters, Brianna and Jillian; and his uncle and aunt, Jerry and Louise Griffith of Verona, N.Y.

Visiting hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 10 a.m. Monday for the Rite of Committal followed by his 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold. Interment to follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.

DONALD A. SPADOLA, 57, of HOWELL, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, at home. Mr. Spadola was born in Waterbury, Conn., and had lived in Herndon, Va., and Palm Desert, Calif., before moving to Howell eight years ago. Mr. Spadola was a parishioner at The Church of St. Veronica, Howell. He was a member of the Lakewood Blackhawks and was also a Monmouth County Referee for the basketball, baseball, and football programs. Mr. Spadola graduated from St. Francis College, Bidderford, Maine, Class of 1971, with his B.A. Mr. Spadola was currently a criminal investigator for the Food & Drug Administration working out of the New York Field Office for the last nine years. He retired in 1997 from the U.S. Secret Service, where he was attached to the Presidential Detail. His assignments included the following: The Boston Field Office from 1976 to 1979 and the New York Field Office from 1979 to 1982. He was a Secret Service Agent to former President Richard Nixon from 1982 to 1985. He was assigned to the Vice Presidential Detail from 1985 to 1990. He was a Special Investigator and worked in the Security Division from 1990 to 1992. Mr. Spadola worked in the Financial Crimes Division from 1992 to 1993. He was attached to Former President Gerald Ford's Detail from 1993 to 1997.

He was predeceased by his parents, Domenic and Ruth Spadola. Surviving are his wife, Pamela "Pam" Madge Spadola of Howell; his children, Ryan, Randal and Heather Spadola at home; a brother, David Spadola of Watertown, Conn.; two sisters, Eleanor Spadola of Waterbury, Conn., and Barbara Carr of Cheshire, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be offered at 9: 15 a.m. Monday at The Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell. There will be no viewing. A Memorial Mass will also be held in Waterbury, Conn., at a date and time to be announced by the family. Interment will be private. Kindly omit flowers. For those who desire, memorial contributions in Mr. Spadola's memory may be made to the NJ Special Olympics, 3 Princess Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 and would be appreciated. Arrangements are by the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.

JANE M. SPAFFORD, 72, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, died Friday, Sept. 21, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Mrs. Spafford was born in Newark and had lived in Sayreville and Farmingdale before settling in Whiting in 2001. Mrs. Spafford was an accounts receivable clerk and worked in the advertising department for Sunshine Biscuits, Sayreville for over 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was a former president and member of the Morgan Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Sayreville.

She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Spafford of Whiting; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Martin Anisko of Howell and Betty and James McHuge of Manassas, Va.; and two grandchildren, Carol Anisko of Howell and Edward Kobis of Morganville, Marlboro.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold. Relatives and friends may gather at 8 a.m. Wednesday for the Rite of Committal followed by her 9 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, Main Street, Farmingdale. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange. For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Jane may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale, NJ 07727.

SUE CAROL STALGAITIS, 87, of the Whiting section of MANCHESTER, died Thursday, June 15 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Mrs. Stalgaitis was born in Union and had lived in Cliffside Park, Marlboro, Bayville and Onancock, Va. before moving to Whiting in 1994. She was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1994, and her son, James, in 2005. Surviving are her daughter, Lorraine Smith of Howell; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend her graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Interment to follow in Old Tennent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Stalgaitis may be made to CMC Foundation, 99 Highway 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755, and would be appreciated.

KENDRA ANN STOCKMAN, 50, of FREEHOLD, died Thursday, Sept. 20, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Stockman was born in Port Chester, N.Y., and lived there and Manalapan before moving to Freehold. She attended the Ardena Baptist Church, Howell. She received her black belt at the Christian Karate Academy, Freehold. Kendra was an active member of the Hands of Hope, Farmingdale. She was a homemaker.

She was predeceased by her mother, JoAnne Platerotti, in 1995. Surviving are her daughter, Kady Stockman at home; her former husband, Ivan Stockman of Howell; and dear friends, James Moynihan and his family of Point Pleasant.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Detamore officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kendra's memory may be made to Hands of Hope, P.O. Box 364, Farmingdale, NJ 07727, and would be appreciated.

JAMES F. STOECKEL JR., 47, of FARMINGDALE, died Saturday, Jan. 6, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Stoeckel was born in Newark and lived there before moving to Farmingdale in 1963. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1977 to 1983. He was a construction worker for Anchor Concrete, Farmingdale, until becoming disabled.

He was predeceased by his father, James Sr., in 1986. Surviving are his mother, Ernestine Stoeckel of Farmingdale; a son, James Stoeckel of Point Pleasant; a brother, Joseph Stoeckel of Farmingdale; three sisters, Mary Scott of Homosassa, Fla., Theresa Knorr of Crystal River, Fla., and Elizabeth Wagner of Farmingdale; and five nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday until the funeral service at 8: 30 p.m. at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Interment will be private.

GARY R. STRACK, 54, of MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Strack was born in Hackensack and lived in Oakland and Marlboro before moving to Millstone Township 12 years ago. He was a member of the Alumni Association of Fairleigh-Dickinson University. He was a C.P.A. and vice president of finance for Strategic Products and Services.

He was predeceased by his son, Jason Gerard Strack, in 1988. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Strack; two daughters, Pamela Strack and Justine Strack, both at home; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Diane Strack of Oakland; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerard and Marion Milillo of Columbus.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9: 15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by his Funeral Mass at 10: 30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 91 Stillhouse Road, Millstone Township. Interment to follow in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro.
