Matthew J. Greco, Sr. age, 88, of Edison died on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in New York, NY, he lived in New Brunswick and Edison for most of his life.
He was an Army-Air Corps veteran of World War II serving in England.
Mr. Greco had worked for 33 years at Permacel Tape before retiring in 1983.

Robert E. Jenkins, Sr. age 91, of Edison, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Robert was born to Richard and Ellen Fitzgerald Jenkins on October 15, 1917 in Laconia, New Hampshire. He grew up in Highland Park, N.J. where he excelled in baseball, basketball and football. He was the first graduate of St. Paul's Grammar School in Highland Park. Robert played shortstop for the Inter-borough Semi-pro Baseball League for the MacKinney Oilers and a "hell of an arm." He served in World War II for the European Theater as a combat engineer in the 36th infantry division. Robert served from North Africa all the way through Austria, where he was involved in the liberation of Rome and ended his military service liberating Holocaust victims.
In 1947, he married Madge Hudson and moved to Edison, N.J. He retired after 47 years at the Middlesex County Engineering Office. A parishioner of Guardian Angels, he was active with Guardian Angels Holy Name Society and ushered the 10:30 a.m. mass. He was a longtime secretary of Middlesex County Holy Name Bowling League.
Robert was one of the founding members of the Brunswick Shamrock Club, a member of the Rahway Ancient Order of the Hiberians, New Brunswick Elks, and both the Edison and Guardian Angels Senior Citizens Club.

Josephine Valeri, age 101, of Edison, died at home, Tuesday, January 20, 2009 surrounded by family. Josephine was born in Pretare, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1934. She originally lived in Pennsylvania. In 1941, she settled in Edison where she resided all her life.
She was employed as a seamstress at Bond's Men Clothing, and various leather good establishments. After her retirement, she was a cashier for her daughter's business, Penny's Restaurant in Highland Park.
She was an altar server and communicant at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church in Highland Park. She was also an active member of St. Paul's Senior Citizens and was instrumental in the success of the trips to Atlantic City.
She was an avid Yankees baseball fan and always knew all of the stats on the players and the games. Josephine loved playing BINGO, crocheting, knitting, and cooking big family meals. Her family was the focus of her life.
Pre-deceased by her husband, Felix Valeri in 1976, she is survived by her loving children; Penny Frandsen, Louise Valeri LoGuidice, Lee Valeri, and Claudio Valeri, dear grandchildren, Donna Frandsen, Donald Frandsen, Darlene Frandsen DiVona and her husband, Gregory, Claudio, Lisa and Peter Valeri, and Vito Andreani and wife, Eileen, and her beloved great-grandchilren; Heather, Lauren, Anthony, Michael, Gavin, Casey, Alan and Teresa.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church in Highland Park. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park Mausoleum in Piscataway. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home. Ruth St. Jacques, age 85, of Highland Park, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
Born in Pennsylvania, she lived in New Brunswick before moving to Highland Park where she lived for most of her life.
In her early years, Ruth and her husband, Francis, operated a truck catering service. Later, she worked many years as a seamstress for Paris Fashions in New Brunswick. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers' Union. Ruth was a former parishioner at St. Theresa R.C. Church in Edison.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Francis, in December 1987. Ruth is survived by her son, Francis and his wife, Carol, of Branchburg, a brother, Arthur Bork, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J. and a sister, Gerry Sparano, of Stroudsburg, PA.

James J. Markano, Sr., age 97, of Edison, son of the late James C. and Mary Abate Markano, died at home on Monday evening, December 14, 2009. James had worked 44 years for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He and his wife loved traveling the USA and he was an avid golfer.
James was a communicant and an active member of the St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church in Highland Park. Mr. Markano was past president of the Holy Name Society, a charter Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus as well as a 4th Degree Honor Guard of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Edison Elks and a Commodore of the New Brunswick Boat Club. James was active with the ARC of Union and Middlesex Counties.
Mr. Markano is survived by his loving wife, Muriel "Winnie" of Edison, sons; James J.of Edison, Edwin Ellison and adopted son, William Mallek of Piscataway, a daughter, Muriel W. of Clark, grand canine Roscoe, one grandchild, three step-grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
