FRANK D. VAN REEK, 66, of Lyndhurst, formerly of WOODBRIDGE
FRANK D. VAN REEK, 66, of Lyndhurst, formerly of WOODBRIDGE, died yesterday at home. He was a machinist for Maxwell House Coffee, Hoboken, for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He was a Navy veteran. Born and raised in Hoboken and lived in Woodbridge for many years before moving to Lyndhurst in 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Garcia of Plantation, Fla., and Dawn Sanchez of Perth Amboy; a son, Gary Van Reek of South Amboy; his mother, Diane Schaap of Keyport; a sister, Adriann Errickson of Eatontown; a brother, William Schaap of Toms River; and five grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Church, Lyndhurst. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Nazare Memorial Home Inc., Lyndhurst, is in charge of arrangements.

HELEN HOBBS, AGE 80, EDISON
Helen Mae Hobbs, 80, died Tuesday at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
She was born and raised in Plainfield, and lived in Edison the past 48 years.
She was a homemaker. Her hobbies included walking and other outdoor activities, and traveling. She was a member of the Edison Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Alice (McGauley) Hurst. She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Patricia Champino of Normandy Beach and Kathy Miers of Hillsborough; a sister, Alice Marinelli of Fort Myers, Fla., and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Andrew Miers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Ave., Edison, followed by a private cremation. Family and friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MARY HNATH, AGE 91, EDISON
Mary Furnari Hnath, 91, died Wednesday at her home in Edison.
She was born in Montalbano, Italy, and lived in New Brunswick before moving to Edison 50 years ago.
She worked for Bond Clothing in New Brunswick before retiring in 1974.
She was a communicant of St. Matthew's R.C. Church in Edison.
She was predeceased by her husband, Steven, her brother, Peppino, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Philip Furnari of Monroe; her two daughters, Nikki Bonanne and Mary Van Derveer, both of Edison; her sister, Rosina, and her sister-in-law, Provendinsa Messina, both of Italy; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:15 a.m. tomorrow at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Matthew's R.C. Church in Edison. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-0704.

ROBERT DONALDSON, AGE 76, OLD BRIDGE
Robert Donaldson, 76, died yesterday at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Division.
Born on July 23, 1924, Mr. Donaldson was a lifelong resident of Old Bridge. He was employed as a machinist for Kimberly Clark/Switzer in Spotswood before retiring in 1988.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 7508 in Old Bridge.
He was an avid pilot who loved to fly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Vera (Demback) Donaldson, and his brother, Jerry Donaldson. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Ervin) Donaldson; a son, Jerry Donaldson of Hawaii; two daughters, Doris Robinson of Margate, Fla., and Brenda Bucco of Matawan; three granddaughters, Sharon Muller of Andover, Sandi Geller of Columbia, Md., and Lane Donaldson of Hawaii; two grandsons, Philip Bucco III of Highland Lakes and Mark Donaldson of Hawaii; a sister, Bernice Bystrek of East Brunswick, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. tomorrow only at Bedle Funeral Home, 212 Main St., Matawan. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Post 7508, 17 Bordentown Ave., Old Bridge, NJ 08857, or to Old Bridge First Aid Squad's Red & White Ambulance Fund, Marlboro Road, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.

WILLIAM HERTWIG JR., AGE 58, OLD BRIDGE
William T. Hertwig Jr., 58, of Old Bridge died yesterday at his residence.
He was born in The Bronx, N.Y., and lived in Brentwood, Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Old Bridge 32 years ago.
He was an office manager at AT&T phone company in Piscataway for 34 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6424 in Old Bridge.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (May) Hertwig; four sons, Robert and Thomas, both of Sayreville, Stephen and Christopher, both of Old Bridge; a sister, Eileen Scognamiglio of Bayside, Queens, N.Y., and a niece, Crystal Scognamiglio.
Services will be held at 8 tonight at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Route 9, Old Bridge. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. ASPASIA GELLAS, 81, of Livingston, whose daughter lives in MONMOUTH COUNTY, died yesterday at Inglemoor Care Center, Livingston. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Livingston 9 Holers Golf Club, Suburban Essex Golf Association, Hanover Lanes Women's Bowling League, and Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society. She was an award-winning oil painter locally. Born in Montreal, Canada, she moved to Livingston 48 years ago.
She was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Liaskos. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, James T. Gellas; a daughter, Joanna Crouse; a son, Thomas J. Gellas; a sister, Sparty Candris; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Pleasant Ave., Livingston. A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Newark. Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

BETTY SCHULMAN, 97, of Brooklyn, whose daughter lives in TINTON FALLS, died Wednesday at Kings Manor Nursing Home, Neptune. Her husband, Norman, died in 1966. Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Hoffman of Tinton Falls, and Dorothy Ragsdale of Whittier, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, Route 35, Ocean Township. Burial will be at Montefiore Cemetery, Queens.

DOROTHY FRISCH, 84, of HAZLET
DOROTHY FRISCH, 84, of HAZLET, died Wednesday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. She was an assembly worker at Parkway Fabricators for 20 years, retiring in 1981. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in South Amboy before moving to Hazlet 12 years ago.
Her husband, Wesley Sr., died in 1986. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Karlik of Matawan; two sons, Wesley Frisch Jr. of South Amboy, and David Frisch of Grover Beach, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, Robert Frisch, Ronald Frisch, Catherine Bartlinski, Judy Hadinger, Tammy Hoeschele, Doreen Lavan, Karl Karlik, Dawn Sommers, Kurt Karlik, Jennifer Karlik, Dorothy Frisch, Shirley Karlik, Alyson Reyes and Mathew Frisch; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.

RICHARD WEIR, 76, of HIGHLANDS
RICHARD WEIR, 76, of HIGHLANDS, died Wednesday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was a graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1943. He served in the Marine Corps donein World War II and the Korean War. He attended Mohawk College and was active in the automotive and marine industries. He was a longtime member of the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club, serving in many capacities. He was born in Little Silver.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for a later date. Worden-Hoidal Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements.
