JOSEPH RUFF, AGE 94, NEW BRUNSWICK
Joseph Charles Ruff, 94, of Dallas, Ga., died Thursday in Georgia.
He was born June 16, 1906 in Croatia, and had resided in New Brunswick before moving to Georgia. He was a self-employed restauranteur.
His wife, Lydia Mozgai Ruff, died Dec. 1, 2000. He is survived by a daughter, Helen Fox of Dallas, Ga.; a son, Joseph Ruff of Cape Cod, Mass.; a cousin, Rose Hettich Eichert of New Brunswick, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home, 123 Watson Drive, Dallas, Ga. Burial will be at Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, Ga. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

LORETTA BURNS, AGE 80, NEW BRUNSWICK
Loretta J. Strickland Burns, 80, died yesterday at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.
She was born in New Brunswick and lived there all her life. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Peter's High School, New Brunswick. She was a telephone operator for New Jersey Bell in New Brunswick before retiring 20 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Peter's R.C. Church in New Brunswick.
She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Burns; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward M. and Elaine Burns of Kendall Park; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Harold Schor of Beuford, S.C., Nancy and John Somogyi of Milltown, and Judith and Jack Kenny of East Brunswick; a sister, Dorothy Cain of North Brunswick, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Ave., New Brunswick, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Peter's R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis TN 38103.

LYDIA BENDELIUS, AGE 91, WHITING
Lydia Ella (Flach) Bendelius, 91, of Whiting, formerly of Passaic and Clifton, died Thursday at Whiting Health Care Center.
She was born in Passaic and lived in Clifton until 1984, when she moved to Whiting. She attended school in the Clifton public school system and later, in the mid-1950s, she attended Drake Business School in Paterson. She was a dedicated homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Passaic.
She was the wife of the late Arthur L. Bendelius; beloved mother of Arthur Bendelius and his wife, Virginia, of Princeton, and Ronald Bendelius and his wife, Nancy, of Madison, N.J.; grandmother of Linden Newlin of Charleston, S.C., Bonnie Bendelius of Tucker, Ga., Heidi Mitchell of Fairburn, Ga., Gregory Bendelius of New York City and Jeffery Bendelius of Madison, N.J.; sister of Lila Flach of Clifton, Mildred Weigel of Seminole, Fla. and the late Albin Flach. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at William A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. (Rt. 124), Chatham. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. MARTHA LEWCZYK, AGE 80, PERTH AMBOY
Martha J. Lewczyk, 80, died Wednesday at her home in Matawan.
She was born in South Amboy and lived in Perth Amboy before moving to Matawan in 1983. She was a communicant of St. Stephen's R.C. Church in Perth Amboy.
She was predeceased by her three brothers, Andrew, John and Frank Kwieczinski, six sisters, Agnes Cieliesz, Rose Bukowski, Tille Tafil, Helen Clark, Tessie Plusinski and Ann Kwieczinski, and a granddaughter, Jill Kiszonak.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Joseph; a son, John of Oxford, N.J.; a daughter, Janet Kiszonak of Belvidere; two sisters, Mary Ello of Edison and Dorothy Wisniewski of South Amboy, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Zylka Funeral Home, 513-515 State St., Perth Amboy, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Stephen's R.C. Church in Perth Amboy. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Keasbey. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. only tomorrow at the funeral home. Wake services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow.

MARY CARROTTA, AGE 77, MENLO PARK TERRACE
Mary Florence (Hoffman) Carrotta, 77, of Menlo Park Terrace died Thursday at her residence.
She was born July 26, 1923 in Jersey City and lived in Menlo Park Terrace for the past 19 years. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Cecelia's R.C. Church, Iselin.
Her husband, Philip Carrotta, died in 1996. She was also predeceased by two daughters, Phyllis Carrotta and Deborah Lisi.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Conticelli of Ledgewood, Janet Stell of Nutley and Linda Vogt of Randolph; a son, John Carrotta of Metuchen; two sisters, Rita Palazzo of Hackettstown and Ann Contino of Washington Township, N.J., 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at Flynn & Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cecelia's R.C. Church in Iselin. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. A Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. MARY WHAITE, AGE 85, MORGAN
Mary H. Clemmens Whaite, 85, of the Morgan section of Sayreville died yesterday at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division.
Born in Middlesbrough, England, she had resided in Morgan for the past 51 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Morgan Hose & Chemical Company.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest B. Whaite, and a daughter, Pauline French.
Surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline Eiseman of Morgan; a son, Allan Whaite of Fords, and five grandchildren, Danielle French, Tara Eiseman, Blair Eiseman, Cassandra Whaite and Marissa Whaite.
Visitation will be from 7-9 today at The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals," 237 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy. The funeral and cremation are private.

Norma Jean (Patterson) Coombs of Dayton, formerly of Wayne, died Thursday at Cranbury Care Center in Monroe Township.
She was the beloved wife of the late William E. Coombs (1972); loving mother of Jean Smith of Lawrenceville, Va., William J. Coombs of Ridgewood and Robert A. Coombs of Dayton, and devoted grandmother of Walter Todd Smith, Timothy and Scott Coombs.

RODGER MEANEY SR., AGE 55, EDISON
Rodger G. Meaney Sr., 55, of the Forked River section of Lacey Township died Thursday at his home.
Born in Metuchen, he lived in Edison before moving to Forked River 20 years ago. He was a locomotive engineer for the Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corp. for 15 years; retiring in 1982. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Forked River and a member of Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 in Ocean County.
Surviving are two sons, Rodger Jr. of Point Pleasant and Curt of Hampton, N.J.; a sister, Doreen Roma of Edison, and a grandchild, Ariana Meaney.
Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle N.J. WILLIAM MILLER, AGE 49, E. BRUNSWICK
William Dennis Miller, 49, died Thursday at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Division.
He was born in Johnstown, Pa. and lived there before moving to East Brunswick in 1964.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles Miller. He is survived by his mother, Gertrude McClemens Miller; a brother, Thomas, and his wife, Carol, of Hazlet; a nephew, John, and a niece, Amanda.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
