Joseph L. Zarkiewicz, entrepreneur
SOMERVILLE -- Joseph L. Zarkiewicz, 66, died Friday (June 22, 2001) at University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa. He was born in Scranton, Pa., lived in Manville and had resided in Somerville for the past 41 years.
He was stationed in the Navy IC3 during the Korean War. Mr. Zarkiewicz was the owner of Tradewinds of Somerville for 20 years, retiring in 1999. He was previously employed by Honeywell. He loved baseball and going to Atlantic City.
Surviving are his wife, Lee "Matteis" Zarkiewicz; three daughters, Kathy Haldeman of Somerville, Suzie Zarkiewicz of Somerville and Holly Amato of Jackson; three grandsons, Jonathan Haldeman of Somerville, Phillip Amato and Brandon Amato of Jackson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Speer-VanArsdale Funeral Home, 10 West End Ave., Somerville. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Martha Jannone Granzetto, lifelong Raritan resident
RARITAN -- Martha Jannone Granzetto, 85, passed away Saturday (June 23, 2001) at home. She was born in Bound Brook and has been a lifelong resident of Raritan Borough.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph V. Granzetto.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Terry) Granzetto of Bound Brook, Dennis Granzetto of Woodstock, Ill.; two daughters, Joan Fazekas of Somerville, and Cheryl Granzetto of Raritan; a sister, Diana DeCastro of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Bongiovi Funeral Home, corner of Bell Avenue and Anderson Street, Raritan Borough, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 45 Anderson St., Raritan. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Bridgewater. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

HENRY C. ZIMMER, AGE 80, BOUND BROOK
Henry C. Zimmer died Friday at Franklin Convalescence Center in Franklin Park. He was 80.
Mr. Zimmer was born in Plainfield and lived in South Bound Brook before moving to Bound Brook two years ago.
He served in the Army and Air Force during World War II.
He worked as a butcher for Shop-Rite in Flemington, retiring in 1986.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy O'Connor, Genevieve White and Agnes Pietro.
Surviving are his son, Henry of Somerset; his daughter, Dorothy Higgins of Florida; his brother, Fred of Mount Holly; two sisters, Shirley Runfollo of Elizabeth and Betty Nardone of Florida; two grandchildren, Denise Mateyka and Kevin Zimmer, and two great-grandchildren, Julia and Trevor.
A memorial service will take place 7 p.m. Tuesday at All Saints Lutheran Church, Piscataway. Arrangements are under the direction of Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset.

Edith L. Conklin Lane, retired cafeteria worker
WESTFIELD -- Edith L. Conklin (Biddulph) Lane, 89, died Sunday (June 17, 2001) at Greenbrook Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Green Brook. She was born in Passaic on July 11, 1911, and had resided in Westfield for 30 years.
Mrs. Lane had worked as a cafeteria worker for the Westfield Board of Education for 10 years, and previously worked in the same capacity at Hahne's Department Store in Westfield (now Lord and Taylor) for 20 years.
She was a member of the Clark Alliance Church in Clark. While working at schools in Westfield she often shared her early childhood experiences with the school children.
Mrs. Lane was predeceased by her first husband, Bertrand E. Biddulph, who died in 1955; her second husband, Alfred E. Lane, who died in 1978; her son, Bertrand E. Biddulph Jr., who died in 1978; and her daughter, Louise "Sis" Wood, who died in 1995.
Surviving are her daughter, Sandra J. Black of Branchburg; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Clark Alliance Church in Clark.

CATHERINE MUTH, AGE 85, MILLTOWN
Catherine Dilk Muth, 85, died yesterday at Forrestal Nursing Home in Princeton.
She was born in New Brunswick and lived there and in Milltown for most of her life.
She was the widow of Joseph Muth, who died in 1944. She was a communicant of St. John The Baptist R.C. Church in New Brunswick.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Pellicane, with whom she lived; a sister, Matilda Figlo of Highland Park; two grandsons, Michael Pellicane of Hillsborough and Wayne Pellicane of Branchburg, and three great-granddaughters.
Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. John The Baptist R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Burial will be at Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call from 7-9 p.m. tomorrow only at the funeral home.

DEBRA NOVALANY, AGE 45, COLONIA
Debra "Debbie" A. Corduan Novalany, 45, died Thursday at her home in Colonia.
Born in Elizabeth, she lived in East Keansburg before moving to Colonia 14 years ago. She had been employed for over 20 years as an accounts-receivable specialist for Linden Motor Freight in Linden.
She is survived by her husband, George; two sons, Joseph and Michael, both of Colonia; her mother, Mrs. Joann Corduan of Lebanon; a brother, Ronald Corduan of Bricktown, and two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Williams of Tampa, Fla., and Darrie Dovidauskas of Lebanon.
Family and friends are invited to meet at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle St., Linden, where a funeral service will be held at 8:15 a.m., then to St. John Vianney R.C. Church in Colonia for a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

FREDERIC JAGEMANN, AGE 78, SPOTSWOOD
Frederick J. Jagemann, 78, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Spotswood, died May 2 at Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach, Fla.
He was retired from Kimberly & Clark Corp. in Spotswood. He was one of the founders of Spotswood VFW Post 4589 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Florida.
His wife, Sarah "Sally" Jagemann died May 6, 1999. He is survived by a son, James of Spotswood and Houston; a daughter, Patricia Cuevas of Towanda, Pa.; a brother, Ronald of Spotswood, four granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held in Florida under the direction of Bellevue Cedar Hill Funeral Home, Daytona Beach, Fla. Burial took place at Cedar Hill Memorial Gardens, also in Daytona Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care, 785 Grinada Blvd., Suite 5, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.

JAMES MORAN, AGE 71, SAYREVILLE
James A. Moran, 71, died Wednesday at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia
He was born in Sayreville and lived there before moving to North Beach 31 years ago. He received his master's degree in 1958 from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He was executive director of the New Jersey Association of School Administration, Trenton, for 20 years before retiring in 1994. He had been superintendent of schools in Long Beach Island from 1970-1974 and was also employed as assistant superintendent of Sayreville Public Schools for six years. He served in the Air Force as a paratrooper from 1948-1952.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Moran of North Beach; three sons, James A. Moran of Manahawkin, Patrick M. Moran and Dr. Michael J. Moran, both of Long Beach Island; a daughter, Margaret "Peg" Moran Hom of Manahawkin, and 12 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Brant Beach. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Manahawkin. Visitation will be today and tomorrow from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. both today and tomorrow, and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753.

JAMES A. MORAN, 71, of North Beach, LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, died Wednesday at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
