MARY NASTASI, 87, SOMERSET
Mary Bascelli Nastasi, 87, died yesterday at Somerset Manor in Somerset.
She was born in Mahanoy City, Pa., and resided in Somerset for most of her life.
She was employed as a seamstress for Talors Coat Factory in New Brunswick before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick.
Her husband, Peter, died in 1996. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Pat, John and Albert Bascelli, and two sisters, Clara Benanti and Dolan Poleck.
She is survived by her son, Louis Nastasi of Somerset; three grandchildren, Louis J. and Richard Nastasi, and Diane Nitti, and four great-grandchildren, Joseph and Nicole Nastasi, and Shawn and Jason Nitti.
Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass at St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Entombment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery Mausoleum in New Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.

ROBERT CASSERLY, 68, SOMERSET
Robert Thomas Casserly, 68, died yesterday at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick after awaiting a liver transplant for approximately three years.
He was born in The Bronx, N.Y., and lived there until moving to Somerset in 1964.
He joined the Air Force at an early age and was assigned to the Communications Division during the Korean War. He served four years. After his tour with the Air Force, Mr. Casserly was a telephone technician/installer for New York Telephone/AT&T for over 40 years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mae Casserly of The Bronx.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Frances Grace Casserly; a son, Robert Francis Casserly of Franklin Park; a daughter, Patricia Kelly Sigur of Somerset; a granddaughter, Nicole Elizabeth Sigur of Somerset; a sister, Susan Ungar of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Larry Ungar, also of Jacksonville; and two nephews, David Ungar and his wife, Sherre, of South Brunswick, N.C., and Larry Jon Ungar of Jacksonville, Fla.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Cremation will follow at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 117 Kinderkamack Road, Suite 104, River Edge, NJ 07661.

Chester J. Konkowski, worked for Shell Oil Co.
SOUTH PLAINFIELD -- Chester J. Konkowski, 76, died Friday (June 22, 2001) in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Perth Amboy, where he grew up. He lived in Metuchen and in Plainfield and has resided in South Plainfield since 1970.
Mr. Konkowski had worked for Shell Oil Co. in Seawarren for more than 40 years. Through his career with Shell, he held various jobs and, at the time of his retirement in 1986, he held the position of shipping inspector.
Chet was a longtime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield and he enjoyed visiting Monmouth Park in Freehold. He was an avid Bingo player, playing most frequently at St. Francis in Metuchen and in other churches in the area.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Celia Juva Konkowski; three sisters, Steffie Kilyk of Carteret, Florence Vajda and Frances Knapp, both of Fords, and Dorothy Fraind of Perth Amboy; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alice Blaszcak of Oxford, Adele Simpson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Victoria Evans of South Plainfield, Stanley Juva of South Plainfield and John Juva of Edison. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the McCriskin Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m in Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church. Cremation will be private. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the South Plainfield Rescue Squad, 2520 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield.

FRANK J. PATTERSON, AGE 76, SEWAREN
Frank J. Patterson died yesterday at JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was 76.
Born in Thompsonville, Conn., he resided in Perth Amboy prior to moving to Sewaren 42 years ago.
Mr. Patterson was employed by the Army for 37 years in its commissaries, first in the former Raritan Arsenal in Edison, and then at Fort Monmouth, before retiring in 1985.
He was a very active member of St. John's Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julia Farinich Patterson; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Scott Biondi of Mercerville; his son and daughter-in-law, Frank G. and Gloria Patterson of Edison; five grandchildren, Brian Biondi of East Windsor, David Biondi of Hillsborough, Eric Libis of Port Reading, and Dana Patterson and Jason Patterson, both of Edison, and a step-granddaughter, Ann Mezger of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 9 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green St., Woodbridge, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. John's Orthodox Church. Interment will be at the church cemetery in Hopelawn.
Friends may call tomorrow 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Panahida services will be 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Orthodox Church, Broad St., Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.

HELEN LAURITSEN, AGE 93, WOODBRIDGE
Helen Aludra Dockstader Lauritsen died Friday at Whispering Knoll in Edison. She was 93.
Born on May 5, 1908, to the late John M. and Alice Belle Kneale Dockstader in Tottenville, Staten Island, N.Y., she was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge.
She attended Woodbridge schools, graduating in 1926 from Woodbridge High School. She then attended and graduated from Newark Normal School in 1929. She retired in 1973 after 37 years of teaching grammar school in the Woodbridge Township school system.
Mrs. Lauritsen was the oldest living member of the First Congregational Church of Woodbridge, having been a member since 1923. For many years, she participated in the church choir. She was a longtime member of the church's Society, and was active in many other church activities.
She was a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Americus Chapter. She belonged to the JFK Women's Auxiliary for over 15 years, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
She was a world traveler, having visited countries in Europe and the Far East, and many parts of the United States, including Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, P. William Lauritsen, in 1956.
Surviving are her children, William K. Lauritsen of Bel Air, Md., Alan H. Lauritsen of Edison and Mary Alice Highberger of Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, E. Kneale Dockstader of Kennett Square, Pa. and John H. Dockstader of Hopkington, Mass.; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green St., Woodbridge, thence to the First Congregational Church for further services. Interment will be at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
Friends may call tomorrow 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Helen Lauritsen to the First Congregational Church of Woodbridge, Barron and Grove Aves., Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
