VIRGINIA B. BORLAND, 79, of MIDDLETOWN
VIRGINIA B. BORLAND, 79, of MIDDLETOWN, died Tuesday at home. She was a fourth-grade teacher at Port Monmouth School. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Middletown, and a volunteer for Clean Ocean Action. Born in Newark, she lived in Oak Hill for 15 years; she also lived in Rumson before moving to Middletown.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; a son, John, in 1995; and her parents, Russell and Edna Duffy Bertrand. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Points of Brookfield, Conn.; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Cotsirlos of Maine; and three grandchildren, John F. Points, Timothy L. Points and Gabriel Borland.
There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church, Middletown. Interment will be private. WILLIAM JAMES HARPER, 79, of Hobe Sound, Fla., formerly of BRIELLE
WILLIAM JAMES HARPER, 79, of Hobe Sound, Fla., formerly of BRIELLE, died Monday in Stuart, Fla., after a brief illness. He was manager of Ethicon, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, for 52 years, retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Born in New Brunswick, he lived there until 1950. He later lived in Metuchen, Edison, Mantoloking Shores and Brielle for 17 years before moving to Hobe Sound five years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Helene Levesque Harper; and a son, William J. Harper of Wall.
A private funeral will be held today in Florida. Marrocco Funeral Home, Passaic, is in charge of arrangements.

ANTOINETTE M. GIANNETTI, 87, of TOMS RIVER
ANTOINETTE M. GIANNETTI, 87, of TOMS RIVER, died Tuesday at Kensington Manor, Toms River. She was a homemaker. Born in Italy, she lived in Montclair before moving to Toms River in 1973.
Her husband, Dewey Giannetti Sr., died in 1981. Surviving are three sons, Dewey Jr. of Toms River, Richard of Little Falls, and James of Montville; a daughter, Marie Coppola of Brick; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. The funeral will be Saturday. Arrive at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m.; a Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Justin's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Bloomfield.

DOROTHY ELEANOR CLOUTIER, 74, of Atwater, Calif., formerly of Bayville, BERKELEY
DOROTHY ELEANOR CLOUTIER, 74, of Atwater, Calif., formerly of Bayville, BERKELEY, died April 28. She was a member of the VFW Post 9503 from 1965 until transferring to VFW Post 7792 in Atwater. She was past president of the VFW from 1971 to 1972 and a member of the American Legion. She was a lifetime member of National Home. She lived in Bayville for most of her life before moving to Atwater, Calif., in 1984.
She was predeceased by three sons, Leo in 1969, Thomas in 1971, and Donald in 1989. Surviving are her companion, John Livria of Atwater; a son, Steve Cloutier of Forked River, Lacey; three daughters, Judy Lundin of Toms River, Pattie Lewis of Bayville, Berkeley, and Flo Hall of Waretown; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Barnabas Church, Bayville. Burial will be in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.

HELEN E. APGAR BOOS, 94, of LAVALLETTE, died Tuesday at John Knox Village Medical Center, Tampa, Fla. She was a charter member of the Seaside Chapter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation and the Lutheran Church Women. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lavallette. Born in Whippany, she lived in Irvington before moving to Lavallette in 1956. She summered in Lavallette since 1945.
Her husband, Fred, died in 1975. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Connie of Tampa; a grandson, Scott, and his wife, Kris; a granddaughter, Natalie Elliott, and her husband, Doug; and three great-grandchildren, Peyton and Austin Elliott and Lindsay Boos.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or to the Seaside Chapter of Deborah Hospital Foundation. JOHN "JACK" E. STREIT, 59, of POINT PLEASANT, died Tuesday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was a horse trainer at DuProcess, Colts Neck, for many years. Born in Riverside, he lived in Brielle before moving to Point Pleasant nine years ago.
Surviving are a sister, Carol Bahrenburg of Brick; a brother, William Streit of Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Route 88, Brick. A graveside service will follow in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall. JOHN A. DUFFY, 74, of BARNEGAT
JOHN A. DUFFY, 74, of BARNEGAT, died yesterday at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford. He was a parts distributor at GMAC Delco, North Brunswick, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific and European theaters of war from 1944 to 1946. In 1949, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving until 1952. Born in Newark, he lived in Cranford for 20 years before moving to Barnegat 18 years ago.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Immacolata "Tina" Buonogurio Duffy; a daughter, Carol Duffy of Moorestown; a son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Kathleen Duffy of Aberdeen; a sister, Gail Picca of Garwood; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Duffy and Kevin John Duffy, both of Aberdeen; and three nieces.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, Stafford. A Blessing will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.

JOSEPH L. CROWLEY, 78, of Holiday City West, BERKELEY, died Tuesday at home. He was a police officer for the New York City Police Department for 22 years, retiring in 1975. He was a World War II Army veteran with the rank of corporal. He served in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded in European Theater. He served with Company A, Armored Division, 191st Tank Battalion. He was a member of Jersey Shore 10-13, the Policeman's Benevolent Association for retired police officers. He was a former member of American Legion Post 129, Toms River, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, Berkeley. Born in Manhattan, he lived in Norwood before moving to Holiday City 18 years ago.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Rose Mincieli Crowley; a son, Michael of South Carolina; a daughter, Joyce Konopka of Beachwood; four sisters, Mary Scanlon of Jackson, Catherine Lynch and Julia Gallagher, both of New York, and Jean Cotter of Long Island; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. MARGARET WIESMILLER DE LUCA, 75, of LAVALLETTE, died Tuesday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She was a secretary at Millburn-Short Hills School System for eight years, retiring in 1980. She was past president of the Rosary Society of St. Bonaventure Church, Lavallette. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in Millburn. She was a member of the Library Committee of Lavallette and the Lavallette Yacht Club. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Normandy Beach. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Elizabeth College, Convent Station. Born in Orange, she lived in Millburn before moving to Lavallette in 1980.
Surviving are her husband, Tony; a son, Stephen Anthony of Chatham; a daughter, Margaret DeLuca of Mays Landing; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, and Michael.

MARIE J. ESPOSITO VELTRE, 79, of BRICK, died Tuesday at Brick Hospital. She was a homemaker. Born in Italy, she lived in Toms River and Old Bridge before moving to Brick six years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Armand Veltre, in 1994; and a sister, Millie Ventola. Surviving are two daughters, Connie Velasquez of Brick, and Barbara Veltre of Las Vegas; six sons, David Veltre of Monroe Township, John Veltre of Parlin, Jerry Veltre of Henderson, Nev., Robert Veltre of N. Brunswick, Thomas Veltre of Jackson, and Michael Veltre of Henderson; three brothers, Joseph Esposito of Jersey City, James Esposito of Summit, and Anthony Esposito of Hazlet; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM M. SCHIER, 39, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of POINT PLEASANT, died Friday at home. He was born in Point Pleasant.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ruth Schier. Surviving are four sisters, Geraldine Zalomon of Spring Lake, Barbara Sundvall of Orlando, Fla., Pat Schier of Virginia Beach, Va., and Judy Groff of Point Pleasant; four nieces; and five nephews.
National Cremation Society, Orlando, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
