COTTONWOOD, ARIZ. — Joyce Elaine Welch Smith, 67, died at home on Sept. 24 after a long illness. Mrs. Smith was born in Montclair to the late James E. and Ruth H. Hooey Welch. She lived in Franklin for most of her life before moving to Cottonwood in 1987.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, William E. Smith Jr. of Cottonwood; her children, Kevin Smith of Cottonwood, William E. Smith III of Hampton, Robert Smith of San Clemente, Calif., Pamela Babcock of Avoca, Pa., and Lisa Peasley of Mesa, Ariz. Mrs. Smith also leaves behind her beloved 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Her family stated, "She will be deeply missed".
There will be no public service.

WOODSTOCK, GA.— Amanda Aumick Hoffacker, 33, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007. She was a member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church in Marietta.
Mrs. Hoffacker's survivors include her husband, Mark A. Hoffacker; her parents, Charles and Caroline Aumick, and her brother, Charles Gregory Aumick, all of Woodstock, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the memorial service on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at Butler United Methodist Church, Butler, N.J., with the Rev. Steven Bechtold officiating. The Woodstock Funeral Home in Woodstock is in charge of funeral arrangements.

WANTAGE — Rosemary McEntee Nestor, 89, died at her daughter's home in Elmwood Park on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, after a short illness. Born to Raymond and Margaret McEntee in Franklin, she lived there until 1963, and lived in Vernon for 30 years before moving to Wantage in 1993.
Her husband, Edwin F. Nestor, died in 1991.
She was the devoted mother of William C. Nestor and his wife, Lori, of Wantage, Edwin F. Nestor Jr. of Orlando, Fla., Margaret Howard and her husband, Bruce, of Elmwood Park and Barbara Parsons and her husband, James, of Lexington, Ky. She was cherished by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas of Aquin R.C. Church in Ogdensburg. Burial of cremains will follow in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon.

Born in Oil City, Pa., Mr. Nick was employed by Crews-Farrell-Mead Co. Inc. in Wayne.
He is survived by his sons, Robert and Andrew; his daughters, Rebecca Lockburner, Debra Babb and Pamela Conklin; several brothers and sisters; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Baleville Congregational Christian Church, 6 Church Road, Hampton. Cremation was private. The M. John Scanlan Funeral Home in Pompton Plains is in charge of arrangements.

STILLWATER — Carine E. Hawkins, 61, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Antwerp, Belgium, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Veibrok Van Winkle. Mrs. Hawkins was the owner of Concrete Critters in Stillwater for 15 years.
She is survived by her husband, Tex D. Hawkins; two sons, Tex L. Hawkins and Paul Hawkins, both of Stillwater; a daughter, Kimberly Hawkins, of Budd Lake; a brother, Ronald Van Winkle of North Carolina, and a sister, Betty Phander of Idaho.
Friends may call on Saturday, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. The funeral will follow at 5 p.m.

Kim McAteer
SUSSEX — Kim McAteer, 47, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, April 29, 2008.
Although she had no children, Miss McAteer treated and loved her animals, Clifford her cat, Pride her bird, and Cody her dog, as if they were her children. She was a very free spirit in her time and cherished nature for all that it had to offer.
Miss McAteer loved the Lord and is finally resting in peace, her family said.
She was predeceased by her father, Edward McAteer.
She is survived by her mother, Rose McAteer, formerly of Hamburg; her sister, Donna VanNieuwland of Newton; her brother, Robin McAteer of Plainfield, Conn.; her sister, Sallie McAteer-Southard of Wantage; her brother, Edward McAteer II of Bradenton, Fla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Miss McAteer's life will be held at the Hamburg Firehouse on Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Casual attire preferred. Private cremation will be held at a later date.

Mildred Wilson
NEWTON — Mildred "Millie Burd" Wilson, 93, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Barn Hill Care Center.
Born in Sandyston, Mrs. Wilson lived in Andover Borough before moving to Newton in 1995. She was a former nurses aide at Newton Memorial Hospital and Andover Subacute Rehab. Mrs. Wilson and her husband, Martin L. Burd, were owner/operators of Burd Bus Company in Andover from 1946 to 1969.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton and AARP.
She was the daughter of the late Manning Hotalen and Rosetta Decker Hotalen. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin L. Burd, in March 1963, and by a grandson, David Seely.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by one daughter, Doris Seely, of Newton; one stepson, Lamar Burd of Kunkletown, Pa.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, at 1:30 p.m., at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Interment will take place at Tranquility Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the funeral home.

Lt. Col. Jason W. Robbins
NEWTON — Retired Lt. Col. Jason W. Robbins, 42, died on Saturday, April 26, 2008, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Col. Robbins was born in Westfield, N.Y., on July 10, 1965, to Donna and Roy Robbins. He graduated from Panama Central School in 1983. After high school, he attended SUNY Agriculture and Technical College in Alfred, N.Y., and graduated in 1985. Following graduation, he began his career as an enlisted soldier, and after boot camp he was stationed in Germany. He was selected for a scholarship in the Reserve Officer Trainer Corps and attended Clarkson University in Watertown, N.Y. In 1989, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology and received his commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the Field Artillery. Col. Robbins married his college girlfriend, Julie Hayden, and they lived in Germany, where he was stationed. During his 22-year military career, Col. Robbins also attended Central Florida University and graduated with a master's degree in engineering.
Col. Robbins served in a variety of leadership positions within the Army, including service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. On Oct. 31, 2007, he retired from the Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel. During his retirement ceremony, he was recognized by army senior leadership with a Legion of Merit Award for his enormous contributions to the nation and exceptional performance in assignments of ever-increasing responsibility. Upon retirement, Col. Robbins joined the Millennium Corporation. He was appointed the company's lead program manager at Picatinny Arsenal for contracted services for developing solutions to counter the Improvised Explosive Devices threat in both the Afghanistan and Iraqi theaters of operation. He was an accomplished Army officer who will be greatly missed by his immediate family, his Army family and all of those who had an opportunity to know him.
Col. Robbins was a loyal follower of the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabers. His favorite personal sport was golf, which he played whenever the opportunity presented itself. He always enjoyed a good joke and was well-known for his positive outlook on life. His immense love was evident in the life he shared with his wife, Julie, and their three sons, Craig, Chad and Michael, who all lived at home. Col. Robbins' compassion and concern for others drew people to him from all walks of life. He was a source of inspiration and strength to his family and a strong leader to those who knew and worked with him.
In addition to his wife and children, Col. Robbins is survived by his mother, Donna Robbins, of Falconer, N.Y.; his father, Roy Robbins, of Jamestown, N.Y.; his brother, Dennis Robbins, of Jamestown; his sister, Lori Stansbury, of North Richland Hills, Texas; his grandmother, Susanna Robbins, of Brocton, N.Y.; and his nephews, James and Greg Robbins and Jacob Stansbury; his mother- and father-in-law, Maxine and Bill Hayden; his brother-in-law, William Hayden; his sister- and brother-in-law, Natalie and Robert Siedlecki; and his nieces, Alexandra and Victoria.
Col. Robbins will be remembered as a leader, a devoted and loving husband, a strong and admirable father and a beloved, cherished and deeply missed soldier, his family said.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Visitation will be held today, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial with full military honors will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, at 9 a.m., on Thursday, July 17, 2008.
