EDNA L. HALL, 78, of LAKEWOOD, died Thursday, July 6, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Mrs. Hall was born in Spring Lake and had lived in Neptune before moving to Lakewood 33 years ago. She was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur C., in 1999. Surviving are two sons, Arthur C. Hall Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., and William R. Hall of Lakewood; three daughters, Phyllis Depiesse of Great Bend, Kansas, Marilyn Harding of Greenville, Mich., and Barbara Stansfield of Browns Mills; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Brian Eble officiating. Interment will follow in Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.

GEORGE D. "SKIP" HAMERNICK SR., 71, formerly of Oakhurst, OCEAN TOWNSHIP, died Tuesday, June 26, at home, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Hamernick was born in Long Branch, and had lived in New Jersey for many years before moving to Pennsylvania, settling in Dalmatia. Mr. Hamernick was a parishioner of St. Monica's Catholic Church, Sunbury, Pa. He was a machinist at Alvord Polk Tool Co., Millersburg, Pa., and a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
He was predeceased by his father, George Hamernick; and a father-in-law, Ellsworth Britton. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Barbara Hamernick of Dalmatia, Pa.; a son and daughter-in-law, George D. Jr. and Mary Hamernick of Shamong; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and James Klinger of Dalmatia; three grandchildren, Dawn Todero and her husband Bryan of Mount Laurel, Sarah Hamernick of Shamong, and Joshua Klinger of Dalmatia; his mother, Ann Hamernick of Ocean Township; a brother, Kenneth Hamernick of Ocean Township; five sisters, Patricia Bradley of Brick, Joan Benoit and her husband Mickey of Ocean Township, Nancy Bonham of Howell, Doris Bradley of Eatontown, and Donna Hamernick of Ocean Township; a mother-in-law, Helen Britton of Eatontown; two brothers-in-law, Chuck Britton and his wife MaryLou of Jackson, and James Britton and his wife Karen of Eatontown; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Monday for the Rite of Committal, followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, NJ 07702-4201.

SARAH J. HANKINS, 92, of JACKSON, died Friday, March 23, at home at the Orchards at Bartley, Jackson. Mrs. Hankins was born and raised in Adelphia and lived in Freehold for 60 years before moving to Jackson in 2002. She worked for F. W. Woolworth, Freehold, in the 1930s, and during the 40s and 50s she was a homemaker and also a foster mom for M.C.O.S.S. During the 1960s she worked at Brit's, Freehold, retiring in the 70s. Mrs. Hankins was a 1932 graduate of Freehold High School. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Freehold for over 60 years and was a Sunday School teacher.
She was predeceased by her parents, William L. Johnson Jr., in 1931, and Rena Applegate Johnson, in 1934; a brother, Harold I. Johnson, in 1964; and her husband, Cecil B. Hankins, in 1995. Surviving are two sons, James Byron Hankins and his wife Rosemarie of Manchester, and Roger A. Hankins of Freehold; two grandchildren, Joseph T. Hankins and his wife Carol Ann of Manchester, and Sharon Rose Shaw and her husband Steve of Brick; three great-grandchildren, Stephen J. Hankins and his wife Holly of Manchester, Tabatha Ruddy and her fiancé Filip Francz of Naperville, Ill., and James J. Shaw of Brick; one great-great-granddaughter, Kacie Rose Hankins of Manchester.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11: 30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia.

JAMES A. HEWLETT, 68, of MANCHESTER, died Thursday, Nov. 9, at Shorrock Gardens, Brick. Mr. Hewlett was born in Philadelphia, Pa., grew up in Toms River, and lived in Howell and Trenton before moving to Manchester last year. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was also a member and former secretary of the Jackson Loyal Order of the Moose. Mr. Hewlett was a precision cutter and fabricator of stainless steel for Fel Corporation, Farmingdale, for 36 years, retiring in 2003.
He was predeceased by his parents, Andy and Ruth Hewlett, and his brother, Harry Hewlett. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hewlett of Manchester; a son, James A. Hewlett Jr.; a daughter, Sabrina M. Hewlett; a brother and sister-in-law, John "Jack" and Dolly Hewlett of Toms River; a sister-in-law, Eve Hewlett of Texas; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service and tribute to his life will be offered at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Rd. (Route 524), Freehold Township, with Chaplain Janet Freed, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12: 15 until the time of services. The family requests donations in his memory to Holisticare Hospice, 1415 Hooper Ave., Toms River.

ROBERT A. HOBSON SR., 77, of FREEHOLD, died Thursday, Dec. 14, at The Manor, Freehold Township. Mr. Hobson was born in Quincy, Mass., and moved to Staten Island at age 10, living in the Great Kills section before moving to Toms River and then Freehold six years ago. He was a member of the Great Kills Yacht Club. He was also a member of the District Local 37, New York City. Mr. Hobson was a chief engineer for the Marine and Aviation Department of the City of New York for 25 years, retiring in 1987.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Kelly, in 2000; and a sister, Patricia Hillis, in 1968. Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Jackson-Hobson of Freehold; three sons, Robert A. Hobson Jr. of Old Bridge, William K. Hobson of Melbourne, Fla., and Christopher J. Hobson of Old Bridge; two daughters, Sheila Stubbs of Cookville, Tenn., and JoAnn Gutkes of Toms River; two sisters, Penelope Bates and Priscilla Brenner, both of El Cahon, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

STEVE C. HOFFMAN, 52, of HOWELL, died Tuesday, June 20, in Howell. Mr. Hoffman was born in Princeton Borough and had lived in Dayton, Jamesburg and Hightstown before moving to Howell in 1989. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1529, Jackson. He was a machine operator for Mazza Demolition, Tinton Falls for 10 years. Prior to that, he worked for Borough Recycling, South Plainfield, and Auto King at their Jamesburg, Hightstown and Freehold locations.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Robert Pullham of Toms River; his parents, James and Claire Hoffman of Middleburg, Fla.; a brother, Greg Hoffman of Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister, Sarah Jane Frangos of Middleburg, Fla.; and two grandsons, Devin and Ty.

MARC LEVINE HOWARD, 36, of HOWELL, died Thursday, June 22, at Country Manor Nursing Home, Toms River. Mr. Howard was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived there before moving to Howell in 1974. He was a U.S. Marines veteran serving in Operation Desert Storm. He was a truck driver.
Surviving are his mother, Mattie Paige of Howell; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Marvie Howard of Howell, Marvin and Karen Howard of Jackson, and Marcus Howard of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Barbara Gullap of Farmingdale; 14 nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. Tuesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. CATHERINE B. HOWELL, 64, of HOWELL, died Sunday, Oct. 1, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Mrs. Howell was born in New York City and lived in Bogota before moving to Howell in 1999. She was a parishioner and volunteer at St. William the Abbott Catholic Church, Howell. She was a head teller at Bridgeview Savings, Fort Lee, for 10 years, retiring in 1999. Prior to that, she worked in the Customer Service Department of Anchor Bank, Ridgefield.
She was predeceased by a son, Philip, in 1960. Surviving are a son, Michael Howell of Howell; two daughters, Eileen Philips of Howell, and Kathleen Ricciardelli of East Hartford, Conn.; a sister, Eileen Ribnicky of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. ISOBEL NOBES HUTCHINS, 86, of TOMS RIVER, died Saturday, Sept. 9, at Arbor Care Center, Toms River. Mrs. Hutchins was born in Helensburg, Scotland, and lived in Weehawken for 46 years before settling in Toms River in 1997. Mrs. Hutchins was a sales manager for Helena Rubenstein, New York City.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry M. Hutchins; and a sister, June Peters. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Joann Hutchins of Spring Lake; two granddaughters, Kerri Hutchins of Alexandria, Va., and Jeni Hutchins of Philadelphia; a great-granddaughter, Maya Isabella Scully of Philadelphia; three brothers, Edwin Nobes, Hugh Nobes and Robert Nobes; and four sisters, Margaret Beaumont, Jean Hipwell, Grace Mulcahy and Janet Farrell.
Visiting hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, with funeral services at 4: 30 p.m. at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. ROBERT J. ILLES, 55, of HOWELL, died Saturday, September 16, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Trenton but a lifelong Monmouth County resident, Bob worked in a number of industries and most recently as an engineering consultant in the telecom industry. He had traveled to many parts of the world both professionally and for pleasure and also read many books, especially on military history. Bob was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, and also attended Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Bob was a passionate salt and freshwater fly fisherman. He worked as a freelance outdoor writer, editor and photographer for such publications as The N.J. Fisherman and N.J. Outdoors. Bob was a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America. He was also a member of Trout Unlimited and supported other conservation organizations.
He was predeceased by his father, Tibor R. Illes, in 1981. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Illes; two sons, Patrick Illes and Robert Liam Illes, both of Howell; a daughter, Katherine Illes of Howell; his mother, Irene Illes of Shark River Hills; a brother, Richard H. Illes of Lexington, Va.; and his loving beagle, Ginny.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. His Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, with the time and place to be announced. Interment will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall Township. SANDJE S. IVANCHUKOV, 47, of Wilkes Barre, Pa., formerly of HOWELL, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Wilkes Barre Community General Hospital, Wilkes Barre, Pa. Mr. Ivanchukov was born in Neptune and was raised in Howell, where he became nationally recognized as a rising soccer star and high school All-American while at Howell High School. He then played for the U.S. National Soccer Team traveling all over the world as part of Team America. Sandje became the first high-schooler ever to be drafted in the North American Soccer League by the Tampa Bay Rowdies and later by the San Jose Earthquakes, where he enjoyed a successful career. Sandje was a graduate of the DeVry Institute, majoring in Computer Robotics. Traveling extensively throughout the U.S., he worked closely with many major worldwide pharmaceutical corporations in operations and as a consultant.
He is survived by his father, Saran Ivanchukov of Howell; a son, Saran Ivanchukov; a daughter, Katia Ivanchukov, both of Manahawkin; a sister, Nogan Spitzer of Freehold; a brother, Khyen Ivanchukov of Middletown, N.Y.; and a brother, Mandje Ivanchukov of Howell. Sandje will be remembered as a loving father and dear son.
His funeral service will be held at 9: 30 a.m. Monday at the Rashi Lhunpo Temple, Kalmuk Road, Howell. Interment will follow in St. Vladimir's Cemetery, Jackson. Arrangements by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
