Lawrence Daidone
Lawrence H. Daidone, 83 years old of Aberdeen, NJ, died Friday, August 8, 2003 in Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick. He was Self Employed, and the original founder of Daidone Cleaners in 1953. He operated the business until retiring in 1983. He served in the Army during WWII in the 1st division and received many decorations including, American Defense Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, and the European-American-Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was born in Italy, and lived in Perth Amboy before moving to Aberdeen 8 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents Luigi and Corradina Daidone, and a brother Joseph Daidone..
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Katherine Daidone of Aberdeen, a Daughter & son-in-law, Corrine & Michael Collins of Hazlet, NJ, 2 Brothers, Enrico Daidone of Perth Amboy, NJ, and Eugene Daidone of Woodbridge, NJ, a Sister, Nella Bonarrigo of Perth Amboy, NJ, 2 Grandchildren, Kevin Collins, and Elyse Collins, .
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9, Sunday, August 10 at the at the Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ.
Services will be held at St. Clements Church, Matawan, Monday, August 11, 2003 at 11:00AM
Entombment will follow in the Clover Leaf Park Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ.
Beatrice Insalaco
Salvatrice Beatrice Insalaco, 88 years old of Morganville, NJ, died Sunday, August 17, 2003 in Bayshore Community Hospital. She was a seamstress. She loved flowers, cooking, sewing, her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Peter, in 2000.
Surviving are her two sons and daughter-in-laws, Louis and Pia Insalaco of Morganville, NJ, Joseph and Antoinette Insalaco of Staten Island, NY, a sister, Francis Cusumano of Whitestone, NY, three grandchildren, Peter, Mirella and her husband Richard Rosano, and Peter and his wife Jennifer, two great grandchildren Joseph and Anthony.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9, Wednesday, August 20 at the at the Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, Morganville, NJ. Services will be held at St Gabriel's, Thursday, August 21, 2003 at 10:00am, with Father JacobThumma officating,
Interment will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
Warren Buckland
Warren C. Buckland, 97 years old, of Morganville, NJ, died August 20, 2003 at Victoria House, Matawan, NJ. He was born and lived in College Point, New York, moved to Basking Ridge, NJ in 1942 and to Morganville in 1962. He received an AB degree, Magna Cum Laude from Washington Square College of New York University. He was awarded the Pi Mu Epsilon, honorary mathematics award. He was a member of the Technical Staff of Bell Telephone Laboratories for 46 years. After retirement he taught mathematics and physics at Freehold Regional High School for 5 years. He was a Red Cross volunteer water safety and small craft instructor for 40 years. He was a member of the Garden State Chapter of the American Marquetry Society and did considerable work in making wood marquetry inlay pictures and furniture. He was a descendent of William Buckland who settled in Hingham, MA in 1635. He survived his wife, Margaret, who died in 1975 and his second wife, Wilhelmine, who died in 1998. He is survived by a daughter, Joan Machinchick and husband Robert of Annapolis, MD; a granddaughter, Lynn Hayden and husband Thomas of Lawrenceburg, TN; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Mitchem of Bradenton, FL.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4PM at the Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, Morganville, NJ. Funeral and burial will be private.
James Broderick, 18 dies in car crash; mass recited
ABERDEEN - A mass was said Monday at St. Clement's Church, Matawan, for James Broderick, 18, of 76 Oxford Lane, who died Thursday, March 6, 1980 at Riverview Hospital, Red Bank, of injuries sustained that day in an automobile accident on Route 36 in Middletown.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., Mr. Broderick lived in Aberdeen for 16 years.
A 1979 graduate of St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel, he was a student at St. Francis College, Loretto, Pa.
Mr. Broderick was a member of St. Clement's Church and of its Catholic Youth Organization.
Mr. Broderick is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cary Broderick; five brothers, Thomas, John, Kevin, Robert, and Joseph, all at home; two sisters, Mary and Eileen, at home; his paternal grandfather, Harold of Yonkers; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Moynihan of Yonkers.
Burial was at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro.
The Waitt Funeral Home, Marlboro, was in charge of arrangements.
Annie Macketon, ex milliner
MARLBORO - Services were conducted March 5, 1980 for Annie Macketon, 87, of 15 Harvey Rd., who died March 2 at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York City.
Born in Odessa, Russia, Miss Macketon lived most of her life in New York City, moving to Marlboro three months ago.
She was a retired milliner.
Surviving are a sister, Lillie of London, England; a nephew, Dennis Sadow, with whom she lived; and a niece, Mrs. Claire Hopper of Hackettstown.
Burial was at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
The Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Beatrice Winter, ex lab technician, dies at age 72; services held
UNION BEACH - Services were conducted Friday for Beatrice Winter, 72, of Scholer Drive, who died Thursday, March 6, 1980 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Born in Elizabeth, Mrs. Winter moved to Union Beach in 1970.
Before retiring 10 years ago, Mrs. Winter was a laboratory technician with the Boyle-Midway Co., Jersey City.
Mrs. Winter was a member of Chapter 16, Order of the Eastern Star, Linden.
Her husband, Herbert, died several years ago.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Field of Santa Monica, Calif., Mrs. Lois Metzger of Brick, and Mrs. Ann Williams of Union Beach; a brother, Herbert Brown of Belleair Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Sullivan of Belleair Beach and Marjorie Koslow of Largo, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Kenneth Conklin, 73, dies; owned Keyport clothing store
KEYPORT - Services were conducted March 4, 1980 for Kenneth Conklin, 73, of 228 Main St., former owner of Conklin's Men's and Boy's Shop, who died March 1, 1980 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
A lifelong resident of Keyport, Mr. Conklin operated the family business from 1944 to 1964.
Former director of the Keyport Banking CD:, Mr. Conklin was a member of the advisory board of the Colonial National Bank.
He was a member of the Keyport Kiwanis Club for 29 years.
Mr. Conklin was an exempt member of the Raritan Hose Co., where he served as chief, and of the Ex-Fire Chiefs' Assn. of Monmouth County.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post 23, Raritan.
Surviving are his wife, Meta; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Christman of Holmdel; two brothers, Jack of Keyport and William of Shrewsbury; a sister, Margaret of Keyport; and three grandchildren.
Burial was at Bayview Cemetery, Middletown.

Edwin Conselyear, ex mechanic, dies at age 70
HAZLET - Services were conducted Saturday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Keyport, for Edwin Conselyea, 70, of 21 Golden Lane, who died March 4, 1980 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Conselyea lived in Hazlet for 25 years.
He was a mechanic with the Deunison Manufacturing Co., New York City, for 19 years, retiring in 1975.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Colangelo of Hazlet, Mrs. Helen Urano of E. Brunswick, and Marie of Hazlet; two sons, Edwin of Hazlet and Eugene of Sayreville; and 15 grandchildren.
Burial was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens.

Frank Webster ex pressman
MARLBORO - Services have been held for Frank Webster, 79, of 26 W. Frances Ave., Morganville, who died Friday, March 7, 1980 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Webster lived in Toms River before moving to Marlboro in 1977.
He retired in 1965 after 45 years as a pressman with the New York Times.
Mr. Webster was a member of the Brooklyn Masonic Lodge and the Leonard Fraternity, Brooklyn.
His wife, June, died in 1971.
Surviving are a son, Robert of Argyle, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Mae Schwenk of Morganville and Mrs. Janet Colomby of San Francisco; a brother, Henry of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Stella Withers of Newton; and seven grandchildren.

William Ryan, 64,, retired factory worker
MATAWAN - Services were held Thursday for William Ryan, 64, of Broad Street, who died March 3, 1980 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Born in Woodbridge, Mr. Ryan lived in Perth Amboy before moving to Matawan four years ago.
He retired in 1975 after 35 years with the American Smelting and Refining Co., Perth Amboy, where he was a member of the 25-Year Club.
His wife, Claire, died in 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Claire Lynch, with whom he lived; three sons, William of Cliffwood, John of Matawan, and Larry of Carteret; a sister, Mrs. Mary Kovacs of Perth Amboy; two brothers, Donald of Perth Amboy and John of Norfolk, Va.; and 12 grandchildren.
Burial was at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, Perth Amboy.
