Iona Mae Wall (Letts)

Iona Mae Wall (Letts), 76, of the Cedar Run section of Stafford Township went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Tuesday, April 13, at Southern Ocean County Hospital

Born in Cedar Run daughter of the late Wilson and Adeline Foster Letts she was a lifetime area resident.

She was employed in the sewing industry in May Landing, a member of the Cedar Run Assembly of God Church and served as Treasurer, secretary and custodian.

Mrs. Wall is survived by her beloved husband Edgar; her children, Joseph of Derry, N.H., Nancy Ashton of Mays Landing, and Barbara Stuhl of Sicklerville; her brother, Frank Letts of Mays Landing; her sisters, Shirley Letts of Cedar Run and Hilda Ripa of Millville; six grandchildren, Angie, Denise, Sandy, Wendy, Kevin and Melanie; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Stephanie.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 16. 11 a.m. at Cedar Run Assembly of God Church, Route 9 Cedar Run. Viewing hours will begin after 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in West Creek Cemetery and entrusted to Maxwell Funeral Home, Manahawkin. Memorial donations may be made to the church.

Alexandra "Allie" Miller
Alexandra Leigh "Allie" Miller lost her four-year battle to Synovial Cell Sarcoma on May 13.

Allie was the beloved daughter of Lori (Benson), formerly of Forked River, and Michael Miller, Lt. Col, U.S. Air Force, and big sister to 3-year-old Luke Daniel, now of Warrenton, Va.

Allie was a true inspiration to both young and old with her neverending smile and sparkling personality. She was an excellent student and was involved in many sports, never relenting to her horrible disease.

Over the past two years she became an avid horseperson and with her horse "Windy," won many competitions and ribbons.

Allie was the granddaughter of George and Carol Benson of Lanoka Harbor, and Dave and Beverly Miller of Palmer Lake, Colo.

She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her and of her courageous battle.

James H. Tenney
James H. Tenney, 75, of Little Egg Harbor, formerly of Ridgewood, entered into eternal rest on May 22.

Prior to his retirement in 1977, he served 25 years as a police officer in Ridgewood. He was a former member and past president of the PBA, a member of the Ridgewood Masonic Lodge and an active member of the Republican Club.

He is survived by his loving children, James of Ramsey, Carol Shepperd of Wyckoff, Sandra Rose of Wyckoff and Laurie Spittler of Ramsey. He was a grandfather to nine loving grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his brothers, George of Glendale, Calif., Alan of Teaneck, Harry of Charlottesville, Va., Carl of Columbia, S.C., and a sister, Eleanor Winder of Waldwick.

His brothers, Donald, William and John, predeceased him.

A visitation will take place from 10:30-11:30 a.m. today followed by a memorial service in the C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home chapel, Ridgewood. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the American Heart Association and/or the American Diabetic Association. Arrangements are entrusted to C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home.

Rowena H. Devery
Rowena H. Devery (Harwood) 95, of Forked River, died May 18 at Barnegat Nursing Center, Barnegat.

Mrs. Devery was born in North Bangor, N.Y., and lived there before moving to Forked River in 1948.

Mrs. Devery was a member of the Forked River Presbyterian Church and its Lend-A-Hand Club. She was a teacher from 1928-1976, working for the Old County School, North Bangor, N.Y., the Bethpage Long Island, N.Y. School, the Forked River Elementary School and St. Joseph's Elementary School, Toms River. She ended her career at Manchester Township Elementary School. She was the last teacher in the one-room schoolhouse in Forked River.

Mrs. Devery was a member of the Bethlehem Chapter 40 OES, Barnegat, and past matron and past grand officer for the state of New Jersey OES. She was a founder of the Lacey Township PTA and its president for three years; a member and officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Capt. Joshua Huddy Chapter; the Forked River Republican Club, and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Forked River. She was a very active member in the local and state New Jersey Education Association. She was a life member of the Forked River Historical Society and life member of the Forked River Library trustees.

Mrs. Devery was predeceased by her husband, James, in 1967 and her daughter, Nancy, in 1969.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. of Florida., and James J., Jr., Bayville; two sisters, Bessie Monica, Malone, N.Y., and Ella Pittaway and Arvilla Pechy, both of Long Beach, Calif. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Sean, Keith and Darian Pharo, Dawn Morgan and Jamie Devery; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services took place May 22 at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 N. Rt. 9, Forked River. Interment was in Barnegat Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Forked River Presbyterian Church, 131 North Main St., Forked River, NJ 08731 or to the Lacey Township Historical Society, P.O. Box 412, Forked River, NJ 08731.

John P. MacIntosh Jr.
John P. "Jack". MacIntosh Jr., 74, of Little Egg Harbor, died May 19 in Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford Township.

Born in Cheltenham, Pa. He resided in Feasterville before moving to Little Egg Harbor in 1995. He had been a summer resident since 1970.

He was an insurance agent for 30 years with Nationwide Insurance Company, Feasterville, Pa. He was a member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Marie A.; one daughter, Sharon MacIntosh-Finely and her husband Daniel, of Feasterville, Pa.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack III and Rita, of Feasterville, Pa.; five sons, James, Charles, Gerard, Laurence and Stephen; one brother, Lawrence, of Florida; one sister, Cora Clinton, of Florida and 14 grandchildren.

There was a Mass of Christian burial May 24 at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Tuckerton. Donations may be made to St. Theresa's Building Fund, 128 Cedar St., Tuckerton, NJ 08087. Arrangements were by Wood Funeral Home, Tuckerton.

Agatha M. O'Brien
Agatha M. O'Brien (Regnery), 83, of Long Beach Township, died May 14. She was formerly of Pine Hill.

Mrs. O'Brien worked for many years as the school nurse at the John Glenn School in Pine Hill and also volunteered as school nurse at St. Edwards Catholic School in Pine Hill.

She is the beloved wife of the late Michael B. O'Brien; loving mother of Michael O'Brien, Mary Cabaron, Terance O'Brien and Kathleen Cowles and devoted grandmother of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Her dear sister, Teresa Romig, also survives her.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Brant Beach. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin, will take place at 10:30 a.m. this morning.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, 1596 Fulton St., San Francisco, CA 94117.

Creran Funeral Home, Oaklyn, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary F. Ten Eyck
Mary F. Ten Eyck, (Forgione), 95, of Waretown, died May 24.

Mrs. Ten Eyck was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was formerly of Metuchen. She was a summer resident of Waretown before moving there year round in 1958.

Mrs. Ten Eyck was a secretary to the president of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Forked River, a member of the Rosary Alter Society, Waretown Old Guard and a volunteer at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard F., in 1986.

Surviving are her son, Richard C. and his wife Lee, of Little Egg Harbor. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Dawn Marie Casey and Bridgette Ann Fowler, and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 203 Lacey Road, Forked River. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Waretown. Relatives and friends may call from 7-9 p.m. tomorrow at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 N. Route 9, Forked River.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to IMUS Ranch for Children with Cancer, P.O. Box 250, Ribera, NM 87560 in Mrs. Ten Eyck's memory.

Evelyn N. Hooper
Evelyn N. Hooper (Drayton), 70, died with her family at her side May 24 at home in Manahawkin.

Born in Camden and formerly of Burlington and Tuckerton, she resided in Manahawkin for many years. She was known as the nicest lady in Manahawkin by many friends and neighbors.

She drove a school bus for the Stafford Township Board of Education for 23 years, retiring in 1989. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Stafford Township Fire Company.

She was predeceased by her husband, Filmore Shinn, in 1979.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Alfred Hooper; loving children, Paul Ford and Raymond Shinn of Manahawkin; two devoted daughters, Sue Leary Mayetta and Bonnie Nelson, of Cedar Run; two sons-in-law, Kim Leary and Bruce Nelson; three cherished grandsons, Justin and Kyle Leary and Joshua Nelson; one adored great-granddaughter, Brianna Nicole Leary, and a sister, Jean Peppler.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. tomorrow at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin. An 11 a.m. service with the Rev. Bernie Malone will take place at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Run.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Southern Ocean County Hospital, 1140 W. Rt. 72, Manahawkin, NJ 08050 and would be appreciated.

Thomas J. Westy
Thomas J. Westy/Cyzeweski of Florida, formerly of Tuckerton. Born Nov. 9, 1927, died Sept. 24, 2003.

He was the loving husband to deceased Leona; beloved son, of Michael and Gabriella, deceased. He was the brother of Walt, Jean, Mary and John, all deceased.

Surviving are his daughter, Jeanette Ross, granddaughter Heather Zardus, and brother, Edward Cyzeweski and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services: Verbal memorial from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 5 and Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Route 9, Tuckerton.

William M. Allen Jr.
William M. Allen Jr. 50, of Little Egg Harbor, died Monday May 24, at home. He was a retired truck driver.

Born in Orange, he resided in Matawan before moving to Little Egg Harbor five years ago. He was also an avid fisherman.

Surviving are his wife of 21 years Sharon Allen of Little Egg Harbor; a son, Brian W. Allen; and a daughter, Megan M. Allen both of Little Egg harbor; a brother Robert Allen of Sayreville; and two sisters, Elizabeth Armelino and Beverly Allen both of Matawan.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville. A funeral service will be held Friday at Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home 9 a.m. A cremation will be private.

Patricia Andrews-Meehan
A memorial service for Patricia Andrews-Meehan, 50, of Florida, took place yesterday at the Cedar Run Assembly of God Church, Stafford, with the Rev. James Occhipinti officiating.
Mrs. Meehan was born Aug. 25, 1953 and died May 13, 2004. She leaves behind her husband, John Meehan and son, Robert Speck, and siblings, James, Darline, Fletcher, Sheila, Heather, Michelle, Jack and Nola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church, 526 Route 9, Cedar Run NJ 08092.

Rita Mary Eckhoff
Mrs. Rita Mary Eckhoff, 86, of Ship Bottom for 40 years, died May 4 at St. Patrick Manor in Framingham, Mass., where she had lived in retirement for the past five years.
Born in Somerville June 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. Clark, Sr. and Elizabeth (Talbot) Clark. She was the wife of the late Frederick Eckhoff, former longtime Chief of Police of Somerville, who died in 1981.

Mrs. Ekhoff retired in the early 1970s after owning and operating Rita's Beauty Shop in Somerville for more than 25 years. She was a late member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Long Beach Island, Southern Shores Country Club in Manahawkin, and the Long Beach Island Woman's Booster's Club.

She was the sister of the late Thomas F. Clark, Jr. and is survived by a niece, Lynette M. Casciotti of Sudbury, Mass.; two nephews, Graig T. Clark of Killdevil Hills, N.C. and Greg R. Clark of Manteo, N.C. as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at graveside at New Somerville New Jersey Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Duckett-J.S. Waterman and Sons Funeral Home, Sudbury, Mass.
