David A. Rossi

David A. Rossi of Glenside, Pa., passed away suddenly April 5.

Born in Philadelphia, Nov. 28, 1959, he was a longtime summer resident of Tuckerton.

He was a 1977 graduate of Abington High School and after graduation worked at the family business, Rossi Machine Shop. He was active in community sports, especially PAL volleyball and enjoyed restoring vintage cars.

Predeceased by his mother, Janet M. Rossi (Astle) and a nephew, Christopher Ross Kelley, he is survived by his father, Herbert ("Nick") of Glenside, Pa.; one sister, Dina Ross Kelly and her husband Chris of Tuckerton; two brothers, Ray E. Meresse and wife Diane and Mark S. Webster and wife Janice. He was especially fond of his sister's two sons, Chrisopher ("Angelo" and Shawn ("Giuseppe"). Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will take place Friday at William R. May Funeral HOme, Glenside, Pa. Viewing will be from noon-1:30 p.m. followed by service and interment at Lawnview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, Browns Mills, N.J. or to your local PAL.

Margaret S. Powell

Margaret S. Powell (Ford), 77, of Manahawkin died Tuesday, April 6, at her home.

Born in Morristown, she moved to Manahawkin in 1930.

Mrs. Powell was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty, the Rebekah Lodge, and the OES Chapter #104 all of Manahawkin.

She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas who died in 1994.

Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Vernon Ford of Manahawkin, Robert and Rose Powell of Little Silver, David and Martha Powell of Millville, and Morris and his Jacqueline Powell of Manahawkin; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Gregory Edgecomb of Lanoka Harbor; one sister, Irene Thompson of Manahawkin; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends called April 9, at the Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 335 South Main Street, Barnegat. Funeral services took place Saturday at the funeral home. Interment followed in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Manahawkin.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations in Mrs. Powell's memory to be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9956.

Michael V. Fay

Michael V. Fay, 77, of Lanoka Harbor died April 5 at Tallwoods Care Center, Bayville.

Born in New York City, he moved to Barnegat in 1984.

Mr. Fay served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Japan during World War II.

He joined the New York City Police Department in January of 1953. He retired as a Sergeant with the 23rd Precinct in January of 1973.

He also worked as a rural mail carrier in the Barnegat Post Office for 15 years from 1974 until 1989.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Barnegat.

Mr. Fay is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Barclay); five sons, Michael of Mystic Island, Thomas of Lanoka Harbor, Robert of Barnegat, twins, John and William, both of Lacey Township; one daughter, Patricia Reed of Beachwood; two sisters, Mary Sutton of Kingston, N.Y. and Alice Ott of Arkansas. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends called Monday at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 N. Rt. 9, Forked River. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Ave., Barnegat.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for contributions in Mrs. Fay's memory to be made to the St. Mary's Building Fund, PO Box 609, Barnegat, NJ 08005.

Phyllis M. Brehme

Phyllis M. Brehme (Krumm) 86, Beach Haven Gardens, died April 6, at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.

Mrs. Brehme was born in Newark and lived there for many years. She was a summer and weekend resident of Beach Haven Gardens from 1950-1975, when she moved to the Island year-round.

Mrs. Brehme was a very active and life member of the Long Beach Island Deborah Hospital Auxiliary, a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Laborman's Memorial Post VFW 9393, Irvington and a volunteer for the Veteran's Hospital in East Orange prior to moving here.

She was predeceased by her son, Richard, in 1965.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Robert H. Brehme.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 12th Street and Boulevard, Ship Bottom.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Mrs. Brehme's memory may be made to the Long Beach Island Chapter of Deborah Hospital, PO Box 122, Ship Bottom, NJ 08008.

Margaret Schulze

Margaret Schulze, 100, died April 8, at Seacrest Village Nursing Home, Little Egg Harbor. She was dearly loved by family and friends and will be sadly missed.

She was born in West Hoboken, which later became Union City.

In 1984, after living in Union City for 80 years, she moved to Little Egg Harbor, where she has resided for the last 20 years.

Margaret was a homemaker, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 71 years, serving as Worthy Matron from April 1938 to April 1939 and then served as secretary from 1954 to 1972 for Palisades Chapter 184 in Union City. The Palisades Chapter merged with Guiding Star Chapter 36, Cliffside Park. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Town of Union City Exempt Firemens Association for many years.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Herman in 1984 after 59 years of marriage. Herman was a fireman in Union City for 40 years.

Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Robert Hanrahan of Little Egg Harbor; three grandchildren and their spouses, William and Debbie of Long Valley, Robert and Debbie, Sharon and John Pasquale; eight great-grandchildren, Stacey and Bill Hanrahan, Sean, Tom, and Kelsey Hanrahan, and Vanessa, Chris and Stephanie Pasquale, all of Pompton Lakes.

Friends called Saturday, April 10, at Wood Funeral Home, 134 East Main Street, Tuckerton, and Sunday at Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Boulevard, Union City.

Services took place Monday at Leber Funeral Home.

Burial was at Weehawken Cemetery, North Bergen.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Schulze's memory to: N.J. Eastern Star Home, Inc., c/o Mrs. Mary Bleech, 27 Fort Street, Somerset, NJ 08873 or Seacrest Village Nursing Home, 1001 Center Street, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Check payable to Seacrest Village should have "Residents Council" marked in the memo line.

Francis McTigue

Francis McTigue, 82, West Creek, died April 8 at Cooper Hospital Camden.

Born in Selma, Alabama, and formerly of Camden, he resided in West Creek for the past 35 years.

He was employed by PSE&G as a lineman for 33 years before his retirement.

He served in the Navy during World War II, with honor.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge serving as Elk of the year in 1987-1988. He also wa a Mason for 52 years with Haddonfield Cherry Hill Lodge 15.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Florence; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and William Hendrixson, Dolores and Elwood Brown; one son, Wayne, and special friend, Terry; seven grandchildren, Mary, Elwood Jr., Brian, Heather, Kenny, Lisa, Daniel; three brothers, James, David and Gene; and two sisters, Louise and Verma Lee.

Mrs. McTique was predeceased by a cherished sister, Wilma.

Family and friends, were invited Sunday evening to share fellowship with the McTigue family at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, Manahawkin. Cremation was private.

In lieu of flowers donations to either the Little Egg Harbor Rescue Squad or the Eagleswood Fire Department would be appreciated.

Myra Reeve

Memorial services will be held for Mrs. Myra Reeve, a former resident of Barnegat, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor.

Mrs. Reeve died Aug. 17 in Bath Maine of lymphoma.

She was the former owner of the Barnegat Antique Country & Gift Shoppe in Barnegat and was a member of the Barnegat and Dennisville historical societies.

She was the widow of the late Harry E. Reasinger and the late Howard W. Reeve.

Memorial donations may be made to the Barnegat Historical Society, PO Box 0381, Barnegat, NJ 08005.

Dr. William E. Crolius

Dr. William E. Crolius, D.D.S. F.A.C.D., 98, of Long Beach Island, died Thursday, April 8, at the Barnegat Nursing Center, Barnegat.

Dr. Crolius was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and lived there before moving to Long Beach Island in 1923. After a Naval career he returned to the Island in 1989, moving to Barnegat Light.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II, and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 until his retirement as a captain in 1965. Dr. Crolius then became the assistant dean at temple University Dental School of Philadelphia from 1965-1972.

He was a member of St. Peters at the Light Episcopal Church, Barnegat Light, and Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, Beach Haven. He was a member of a VFW Post and Concordia Lodge F&AM both in Philadelphia, the Union League of Philadelphia and New York, and numerous other clubs and organizations.

Dr. Crolius was predeceased by his first wife Beatrice (Appleton) in 1992.

Surviving is his wife of 10 years, Arline (Boudreau); one daughter, Doris Nugent, Beach Haven Terrace; two brothers, Joseph of Lansdowne, Pa., and George of Orland, Pa.

Also surviving are four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 12th Street and Boulevard, Ship Bottom.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Dr. Crolius' memory may be made to St. Peter's at the Light Episcopal Church, 11 East 11th St., Barnegat Light, NJ 08006.

Charles G. Kliesh Sr.

A memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 25, for Charles G. Kliesh Sr., 88, Manahawkin, who passed away Jan. 18.

The service will take place at Ocean Community Church, 1492 Route 72 in Manahawkin.

All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin.

Charles E. Knight

Charles Edward Knight, 71, of the Cedar Run section of Stafford Township, suddenly went home to be with the Lord on April 7, in Missouri.

Born in Shannon, Mo., he had been a local resident since 1956.

While serving in the U.S. Navy he was stationed at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1489 of Burlington County for 53 years.

He was a member of the Cedar Run Assembly of God Church and its Trustee Board. He served as the mayor of Stafford Township in 1972 and was a member of the Township Committee for three years.

He was a former lay leader at the Manahawkin Methodist Church.

He was predeceased by his wife the former Anna Rostein in 2002.

He is survived by two sons, Terrence and Kenneth "Jack" both Manahawkin, and one daughter, Patricia Cranmer of Waretown; three brothers James, Marlon and Frank; one sister, Marilyn, and five grandchildren, Scott, Nicole, Kelly, Troy and Alexis.

Memorial services will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday in Cedar Run Assembly of God Church, Route 9, Cedar Run.

Private burial will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Arrangements are entrusted to Maxwell Funeral Home, Manahawkin.

Memorial donations are requested to be sent to the church.
