Edith B. Schryer

Edith B. Schryer (O'Brien), 91, of Surf City, died Feb. 2 at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.

Mrs. Schryer was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and was formerly of Huntington Valley, Pa., moving to Surf City in 1976.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Beach Haven Terrace, and the Long Beach Island Chapter of Deborah Hospital Foundation. She was also a survivor of the Yarmouth Castle Disaster which occurred on Nov. 13, 1965 on a weekend cruise between Miami and Nassau that took the lives of 25 percent of its 360 passengers.

Following graduation from Olney High School, she became a Bookkeeper at the 1st National Bank of the United States both of Philadelphia, until her marriage to G. Allan Boyack, her first husband, who died in 1950.

She also was predeceased by her second husband. Walter H. Schryer who died in 1996. Surviving are one son, Allan and his wife Denise Boyack, Surf City; one daughter, Jane Schryer, Brookings, Ore. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Sean and Kevin Smith, Andrew Boyack, Hans and Erica Geisterfer.

A Memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Beach and New Jersey Ave., Beach Haven Terrace. Interment will be private.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to either the First United Methodist Church or the Long Beach Island Chapter of Deborah, P.O. Box 122, Ship Bottom, NJ 08008.

Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 12th St. & Blvd., Ship Bottom is in charge of arrangements.

Mary T. Boone

Mary T. Boone of Hobe Sound, Fla. died Sunday, Feb. 2, at her home. She was 92.

She was born Feb. 2, 1911 in Philadelphia, Pa..

Before her retirement, she had worked as a dietician. She had been a resident of Florida for 23 years coming from Surf City, Florida.

She was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound.

She was preceded in death by her son Robert in 1997 and by 10 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard Boone of Hobe Sound, Fla.; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Gloria Boone of Bayville; her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Albert O'Neil of Roslyn, Pa., and one sister, Ida Russell of Philadelphia, Pa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Young and Prill Funeral Home in Stuart, Fla.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday at 1 p.m. in St. Christopher Roman Catholic Church in Hobe Sound.

Those who wish may contribute to the Hospice of Martin and St. Lucie in her memory.

Young and Prill Funeral Home, Stuart Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Madeleine B. Plank

Madeleine B. Plank (Boyle0, 81, of Pipersville, Pa. and Barnegat Light, died Feb. 1, at Lehigh Valley Medical Center.

Madeleine was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on Dec. 4, 1921.

Mrs. Plank had been a school teacher in the Bensalem Township school system for 33 years. She last taught first grade at Benjamin Rush School, where she worked for many years, until her retirement in 1979. She had been a 1943 graduate of West Chester State Teachers College.

She was the wife of the late Charles W. Plank; sister of Doris Dietzler and the late Lorraine Martin. She is also survived by two stepsons, Richard and Ronald Plank; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 8:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, Easton Road and Fairhill Ave., Glenside, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Luke the Evangelist Church. Cemetery Holy Sepulchre, Wyndemoor, Pa..

Arrangements are by William R. May Funeral Home, Glenside.

Florence E. Graham Cavileer

Florence E. Graham Cavileer, 89, a lifetime Tuckerton area resident, passed away Jan. 31, at Sea Crest Village, Little Egg Harbor.

She and her late husband Richard "Dick" were the owners of Cavileers Marina here since 1952. Dick Cavileer retired in 1983 and passed away June 15, 1981.

Mrs. Cavileer was a member of the First United Methodist Church Tuckerton. She attended the Giffordtown School which is now the Tuckerton Historical Society Museum.

She was a recipient of the Hurley Conklin Award given by the Tuckerton Seaport Society and Barnegat Baymens Museum for local people having lived in the Barnegat Bay Tradition.

She was a life member of the West Tuckerton Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and a former Ocean County Republican Committeewoman.

Mrs. Cavileer was the daughter of the late Harvey and Emma Reeder Graham. She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Franklin. She is survived by her son, Robert Wayne Cavileer of Little Egg Harbor; her daughters, Florence "Betty" Allen, Little Egg Harbor, Nancy Bozarth, Tuckerton and Gertrude Ida Joynt of Camarillo, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Maxwell Funeral Home, Little Egg Harbor with the Rev. Grant Buttermore officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Tuckerton.

George W. Goldacker Jr.

George W. Goldacker Jr., 82, Manahawkin, died Jan. 31 at his residence.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he lived in Willow Grove, Pa. before moving to Manahawkin in 1961. He was a member of the Trenton Shriners.

He is survived by his wife Edith (nee Bechter); one son, George W. III of Manahawkin; daughter, Barbara Flynn of Warren Grove; five grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, and David Flynn, Jeffrey Goldacker and Jennifer Voss. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren.

Services took place under the direction of Maxwell Funeral Home, Manahawkin.

Any donations may be made to Southern Ocean County Home Health and Hospice, 1140 State Hwy. 72, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.

John S. Paterson Sr.

John S. Patterson Sr., 92, Barnegat Light, died Jan. 30 at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.

Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Havertown, Pa., moving to Barnegat Light in 1965.

He was a retired lieutenant colonel, in World War II with Army intelligence. He served with the Army for more than 20 years. He was an engineer with Arco/Atlantic Oil, Philadelphia.

He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Barnegat Light, The VFW Post 3729, a member of Sextant Lodge and the Manahawkin Senior Social Club.

Mr. Patterson caught a record flounder of 18 pounds 6 ounces on a 16 pound test line off Barnegat Light in 1988.

He was preceased by his first wife, Florence S. Patterson in January 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Jean R. Patterson; son and daughter-in-law, Jack Jr. and Dolly, High Bar Harbor; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Emil TumSuden, Surf City, and Lois G. and Ron Dissinger, Holmdel; two step-sons and their wives, Bill and Mae Wagner, Little Egg Harbor and David and Heather; one brother, Heyworth, Clinton, Maryland; 16 grandchildren, Eric TumSuden, Carl and Kim TumSuden, David and Nancy TumSuden, Lora and Jerry Wentwerth, Ginny Wagner, Diane and John Walsh, Carol and Marty Ryser, Chris and Kristin Patterson, Tracey and Chris Paulillo, and 11 great-grandchildren, Chris Topher TumSuden, Emma TumSuden, Olivia TumSuden, Sophia TumSuden, Robert Walsh, Samantha Walsh, Devin Ryser, Taylor Ryser, Laura Patterson, Kady Patterson and Abbey Paulillo.

A Memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Barnegat Light. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Wood Funeral Home, Tuckerton.

Edwin A. Schoendorf

Edwin A. Schoendorf, 89, of Whiting, died May 17, at his home.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. he lived in Barnegat for four years before moving to the Pine Ridge section of Whiting 17 years ago.

He was employed as an accountant for AT&T in New York City for 43 years until his retirement in 1971.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Whiting, the Old Guard, Safety Patrol and Social Club of Pine Ridge, Whiting.

We was the father of the late Jean Spamer and the brother of the late Anthony Schoendorf.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Shaw Schoendorf; three sons, Richard Bronleben of Mt. Sinai, N.Y., Frederick Bronleben of Leesburg, Fla., and Allen Bronleben of Floral Park, Long Island; a daughter, Linda Chudoba of Little Egg Harbor. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals, Whiting was in charge of arrangements.

Rose Cranmer

Rose Cranmer (Sacco), 97, of Princeton died May 28 at Princeton Nursing Home.

Born in Lakehurst, she resided for most of her life in Manahawkin before moving to Princeton in 2001.

She was employed by Cranmer Agency, Manahawkin as a licensed insurance agent for 45 years, retiring in 1968.

Rose was a member of the Stafford Republican Club. She had heartfelt love for children and performed volunteer work in children's day care.

She is predeceased by her husband Cecil W. in 1962.

Surviving are two daugthers and sons-in-law, Barbara and Robert Gladstone of Belle Mead, and Harriet and John Long of South Burlington, Vt.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services took place May 31 at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, Manahawkin.

Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Manahawkin. Contributions may go to EMS Montgomery, Co.

Lawrence M. Silva Sr.

Lawrence M. Silva Sr., 53, Manahawkin, died May 28 at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.

Born in Massachusetts, he resided in Peabody, Mass. before moving to Manahawkin in 1975.

He was employed by Waste Management, Waretown as a truck driver for 21 years.

He was a member of the Elks of Manahawkin, and the Teamsters Union.

Surviving are his companion, Audrey Toth; one son, Lawrence Silva of Manahawkin; five brothers, Ronald A. Silva of Green Bank, Mass., Kenneth A. Silva of Waretown, George D. Silva of Waretown; Richard A. Silva of Lacey Township, and David Silva of Little Egg Harbor Township; and one grandchild Jordan Christopher Silva.

A memorial service took place May 31.

Shinn Funeral Home, Manahawkin was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred R. Hudson

Mildred R. Hudson (Asay), 77, of West Creek died May 29 at home.

Born in Cream Ridge, she lived in Barnegat before moving to West Creek two years ago.

She was past president of Ladies of the Elks, Manahawkin.

She is predeceased by her husband, Chester T. Hudson.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty J. and Roger Teyssier of West Creek and, Nancy M. and Fred Schuckert of West Depford; one step-daughter and husband, Doris and Edwin Booth of Imlaystown; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Services took place June 2 at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, Manahawkin.

Burial was in Emley's Hill Cemetery, Upper Freehold.
