Gwendolyn Criswell, government worker
EDISON -- Gwendolyn J. Criswell, 61, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1999) at home.
Born in New Brunswick, she lived in Plainfield before moving to Edison. Before retiring, she was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 42 years.
Ms. Criswell was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Piscataway.
Predeceased by her father, Morris E. Jackson, she is survived by her husband, Henry M. of Los Angeles, Calif.; her mother, Clarissa D. Jackson of Plainfield; two sisters, Marva E. Jackson of North Plainfield and Ada Noel of Plainfield; two brothers, Edward P. Jackson of Monmouth Junction and Mauris C. Jackson of Orange; an aunt, Emily Coleman of Plainfield; and a close friend, Beverly Saunders of Linden.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 450 Highland Ave., Piscataway. Arrangements are under the direction of the Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford St., New Brunswick.
Friend and relatives may call from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
Jeannette Boos Smith, hospital volunteer
NORTH PLAINFIELD -- Jeannette Boos Smith, 90, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1999) at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Plainfield, she lived there for many years, moving to North Plainfield 12 years ago.
Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Plainfield High School and the Normal State Teacher`s College in Montclair. She was a member of the Altar Guild at the Church of the Holy Cross in North Plainfield and volunteered at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center for many years.
Her husband, Edward M. Smith, died in 1987.
She is survived by her son, Brian E., and his wife, Jane Myers Smith, of St. Louis, Mo.; her daughter, Beverly J. Short, and her husband, Ray, of Westminster, Colo.; a sister, Ruth Lathrop of Pompano Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Holy Cross in North Plainfield. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home in Fanwood.

Anna Frangelli, 89, formerly of Raritan
BRIDGEWATER -- Anna Zuccarini Frangelli, 89, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1999) at the Greenbrook Manor Nursing Home in Green Brook.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she lived in Raritan, Pomona and then Margate before moving to Bridgewater in February of this year.
She, along with her late husband John Sr., who died in 1989, formerly operated Frangelli`s Bakery and then Frangelli`s Theatre Restaurant in Raritan for several years.
Mrs. Frangelli was a former member of the St. Rita`s Society of St. Ann`s Roman Catholic Church in Raritan and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Somerset Council #1432 of Somerville.
Surviving are her son, John, and daughter-in-law, Helen, of Bridgewater; her daughter, Joann Silver of Burbank, Calif.; her two sisters, Emilia Riccuiti of Philadelphia, Pa., and Florence DiFabio of Atlantic City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Route 202 South, Branchburg, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at the St. Ann`s Roman Catholic Church, 45 Anderson St., Raritan. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Walter C. Schaufele, school superintendent
CLINTON TOWNSHIP -- Walter C. Schaufele, 60, died Saturday (Oct. 30, 1999) at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township.
Born in Newark on Nov. 2, 1938, to Walter R. Schaufele and the late Rose Willar Schaufele, he lived in Clinton Township for nine years. He previously lived in Alpha.
He was the superintendent of Lebanon Borough Schools in Lebanon, retiring after 27 years. He graduated from Drew University in 1960 with a bachelor`s degree in education and then received his master`s degree in education at Rutgers University.
He was a vestry member, the chairman of the building committee, a member of the choir and former choir director at the of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Lebanon.
He was predeceased by his mother, Rose E. Willar Schaufele.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Nancy L. Ives Schaufele of Clinton Township. Also surviving are his daughters, Carin Style of Lawrenceville, Brenda Schaufele of San Diego, Calif., and Colleen Schaufele of Stroudsburg, Pa.; his sister, Roberta Hays of Greely, Colo.; his father and stepmother, Walter R. and Alice Schaufele of North Arlington; his stepson, Brian Johnson, with whom he lived; his stepdaughter, Laura Danson of Bethlehem Township; a grandchild; and two stepchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 13, 1999) at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 3 Haytown Road, Lebanon. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Family and friends are invited to gather in the Parish Hall immediately following the service.

George Zimmerman, longtime plumber
SOMERVILLE -- George W. Zimmerman, 71, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 1999) at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater.
Born in Somerville, he lived there all his life.
He was employed as a plumber for Triangle Plumbing in Hillside for 30 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Zimmerman graduated from Somerville Public Schools. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Health Hike Program, sponsored by the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Mr. Zimmerman was an active volunteer at the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program`s SHIP`s Galley in Somerville.
Surviving are two brothers, Charles Zimmerman of Milford and Albert Zimmerman of Roaring Branch, Pa.; two sisters, Lillian Connor of Princeton, Maine, and Beatrice Staats of Hillsborough; and 35 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave., Somerville. Interment will be at New Cemetery in Somerville.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

WINIFRED M. MILLS WISE, 78, of Pasadena, Md.
WINIFRED M. MILLS WISE, 78, of Pasadena, Md., formerly of BRIELLE, died Sunday at North Arundel Hospital, Glen Burnie, Md. She was a homemaker and a former substitute teacher at Pasadena Elementary School. She loved the outdoors and wildlife. She was born in Brielle.
Her husband, Erwin Charles Wise, died in 1997. Surviving are a son, Barry E. Wise of Springfield, Va.; three sisters, Louise Mills of Brick, Lois Jacobson of Howell and Emma Hurley of Point Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.

LILY F. LA ROSA, 89, of Columbus, Ohio, whose son lives in FREEHOLD, died Oct. 27 at home.
She was predeceased by her hus-band, Frank A. LaRosa. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, J. Michael and Marilyn LaRosa of Freehold.
A funeral Mass was held Oct. 30 at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, Columbus, Ohio. Evans Fu-neral Home, Ohio, was in charge of arrangements.
ROSE MARIE MEADOWS, 75, of the Pine Ridge South section of MANCH
ROSE MARIE MEADOWS, 75, of the Pine Ridge South section of MANCHESTER, died Sunday, Aug. 29, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was an administrative secretary for the Nursing Sisters of the Sick/Poor, Brooklyn, for several years. She was also a legal secretary for the law offices of Edward Fusco, Brooklyn, and an executive secretary for Penn Shipping, New York City. She was a lover of all creatures, great and small. Born in Brooklyn, she lived there most of her life before moving to Manchester four years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Tom Meadows. Surviving are a daughter, Tricia Meadows; and two cousins, Henrietta Brigandi and Helen Kelley.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, Toms River. A second Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Czestochowa, Brooklyn.

Harold A. Parker Jr. died Sept. 30at Robert Wood Johnson Memorial Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 46.
He was born in New Brunswick and lived in the Somerset section of Franklin.
He was a programmer for AT&T in Piscataway.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella Parker; a daughter, Desiree N. and a son, Daniel, both of Somerset; and his mother, Aver Parker of New Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday from Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford St., New Brunswick. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery, North Brunswick.

HELEN V. FAY, 77, of Whiting Village, Whiting, MANCHESTER, died Wednesday at home. She was a homemaker and a former communi-cant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Bogota. Born in New York City, she lived in Bogota before moving to Whiting five years ago.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, William Fay; a son, William Douglas Fay of Westfield, Mass.; and two grandchildren. Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting, is in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM J. FAY, 69, of MANALAPAN, died yesterday at Jackson Health Care Center, Jackson. He was a supervisor with the Newark Redevelopment & Housing Authority, for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church, Manalapan. Born in Newark, he lived there before moving to Manalapan 20 years ago.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Fay of Manalapan; and a niece, Michele Cardone of Manalapan.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Route 9, Old Bridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More Church, Manalapan. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
