PATRICIA L. KUNTNE KEATING, 67, of UNION BEACH
PATRICIA L. KUNTNE KEATING, 67, of UNION BEACH, died yesterday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a nurse at South Amboy Hospital for many years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Demo-cratic Club and the Juvenile Confer-ence Committee, all in Union Beach. She was a Girl Scout troop leader in Raritan, Del., for 30 years. Born in South Amboy, she lived in Sayreville before moving to Union Beach 40 years ago.
Her son, Gary Keating, died in 1991. Surviving are her husband, John J. Keating; two sons, Michael Keating of Union Beach and Walter Keating of Howell; three daughters, JoAnne McKee of Lincroft, Middle-town, Barbara Mason of Howell and Patricia Marciniak of Union Beach; her mother, Bertha Lawson Kuntne of Whiting, Manchester; a brother, Donald Kuntne of Perth Amboy; three sisters, Sister Lois Kuntne of West Paterson, Paullette Schafer of Pennsylvania, and Maxine Rein of Virginia; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A funeral Mass will be of-fered 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church, Union Beach. Buri-al will follow in St. Joseph's Ceme-tery, Keyport.

FLORENCE SANGIACOMO KELLY, of BRICK
FLORENCE SAN GIACOMO KELLY, of BRICK, died yesterday at Burnt Tavern Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a communicant of the Church of the Visitation, Brick. Born in Newark, she lived in the Vailsburg section of Newark before moving to Brick 25 years ago.
Her husband, Charles E. Kelly, a Newark police captain, died in 1970. Surviving are a daughter, Carol Buehner of Brick; a son, Charles E. Kelly Jr. of Brick; a sister, Mildred VonStetten of Atlantic Highlands; five grandchildren, Christine, Craig, Leslie, Sarah, and Charles P.; a great-granddaughter, Amanda; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick. A funeral Mass will be offered 9 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Visitation, Brick. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

MILDRED A. RAUF, 78, of MANCHESTER
MILDRED A. RAUF, 78, of MANCHESTER, died yesterday at home. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Point Pleasant before moving to Manchester in 1995.
Surviving are her husband, Robert A. Rauf; a son, Robert L. Rauf of Toms River; three daughters, Laurie Carver of Winchester, Va., Jennifer M. Eaton of Sicklerville, Winslow Township, and Nancy Moniz-Borga of Point Pleasant; three sisters, Evelyn Rauf of Toms River, Irene Dragonetti of Brooklyn and Mabel McKenna of Belmar; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Lakehurst. A funeral Mass will be offered Saturday at a time to be announced at the Cathedral of the Air, Lakehurst. Entombment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lakewood.

ANN LAFORGE, of Jersey City and SPRING LAKE
ANN LA FORGE, of Jersey City and SPRING LAKE, died yesterday at home. She started her teaching career in St. Joseph's School, Union City, and for the last 30 years taught first and second graders in the Hazlet school system. She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association and St. Aloysius High School Alumni Association, Jersey City. She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education for Seton Hall University, South Orange, in 1961. She was born in Jersey City.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Elizabeth Mitchell LaForge. Surviving are a brother, George LaForge of Sea Girt; and a sister, Janet LaForge of Jersey City.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Greenville Memorial Home, 374 Danforth Ave., Jersey City. A Mass will be offered 9:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Church, Jersey City. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Aloysius High School Alumni Association, 721 West Side Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07304, would be appreciated.

DAVID HERBERT
David Herbert, 55, cited for saving girl from surfnews
MANASQUAN -- David A. Herbert, 55, a decorated Vietnam War helicopter pilot who was honored last year by the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders for rescuing a girl from drowning, died Tuesday at Brick Hospital.
Mr. Herbert was an Army helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War and received various medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal, the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal.
He received a certificate from the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders in recognition of his courage in rescuing a girl from drowning while at the beach in Manasquan. When he heard the girl cry for help as she fought a rip tide, he went out and brought her to shore. The freeholders proclaimed July 9, 1998 "David Herbert Day" in honor of his actions.
Mr. Herbert was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, Citrus Heights, Calif., the Airborne Law Enforcement Association, Tulsa, Okla., the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Frederick, Md., the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a helicopter pilot for the Monmouth County Shade Tree Commission, Freehold. He was a 1962 graduate of Freehold High School, and attended Utah University.
Born in Jamison, Pa., he lived in Colts Neck before moving to Manasquan 14 years ago.
Surviving are his companion, Betty Applegate of Manasquan; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Beth Applegate, and her grandchildren, Chris and Robert Applegate, all of Howell; many aunt and uncles, including Barbara and Woodie Matthews of Lakewood, Katharine Knudson of Orange, Va., Dorothy Yard of Sea Girt, Mildred and William Thiele of Maine, Blanche Thiele of Orange, Phyllis Caparn of Oceanport, Frank and Karen Thomas of Delaware, Robert and Patricia Thomas of Kentucky, and Charles Thomas of Maine; and many cousins.
Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main St., Freehold. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Colts Neck Reformed Church. Burial will follow in Atlantic Cemetery, Colts Neck. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 12 Roszel Road, Suite C201, Princeton, NJ 08540 or the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.

MUSA LEWIS, AGE 94, FRANKLIN
Musa Lewis died Monday at Franklin Park Care Center, Franklin Park section of Franklin. She was 94.
She was born in Greensboro, N.C., and lived in Metuchen, Plainfield and South River for 35 years, moving to Franklin Park in 1996.
She was a beautician and the former owner of Vogue Beauty Shop, New Brunswick, for 45 years.
She was a member of Mount Zion AME Church, New Brunswick, and a member of its Stewardess Board No. 1 and its Senior Choir.
Her husband, Rufus, died in 1987. Two brothers, Zachariah Ervin and Reese Ervin, also are deceased.
Surviving are seven grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion AME Church, Neilson Street, New Brunswick. Burial will be at Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery, North Brunswick. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford St., New Brunswick.

ALINA PRUSZYNSKI, AGE 80, LINDEN
Alina Dobkowski Pruszynski died yesterday at Union Hospital. She was 80.
She was born in Poland and moved to Jersey City in 1947. She moved to Linden 20 years ago.
She retired in 1980 after 30 years as a building maintenance worker for New York Telephone Co., New York City.
She was a communicant of St. Theresa's R.C. Church, Linden.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Stefan; two daughters, Zofia Gorski of Maspeth, N.Y., and Sabina Garbowski of Cranford; a sister, Mary Korytkowski of Poland; six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Services will be 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle St., Linden, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Theresa's R.C. Church. Burial will be at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.

ELIZABETH ROACHE, AGE 86, EDISON
Elizabeth Mesaros Roache died Wednesday at JFK Medical Center, Edison. She was 86.
She was born in Rahway and had lived in Edison for many years. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Metuchen Chapter of the Royal Arcanum, a charitable international fraternity, and had served as its deputy grand regent.
Her husband, George R., died in January.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 9:45 a.m. Saturday from the Flynn & Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords section of Woodbridge, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, Edison. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Clark.

Donald E. Jones, 40, avid hunter, fisherman
LEBANON TOWNSHIP -- Donald E. Jones Jr., 40, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 1999) at his home.
He was a carpenter for the past 20 years with the Local 455 of Somerville. He was born in Raritan Township on Oct. 19, 1959, the son of Donald Sr. and Anna Mae Weiss Jones.
Donald was a 1978 graduate of Voorhees High School in High Bridge, and a 1981 graduate of Somerset County Community College.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and belonged to the Easton Fish and Game Club in Easton, Pa. He also was a member of the United Methodist Church in Changewater.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Agnes Denmon Weiss of Beaumont, Pa.; two brothers, Richard of Avondale, Pa., and Andrew of Lebanon Township; a sister, Kathy Slaton of Holland Township; and two nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the DeVoe Funeral Service, 136 West Washington Ave., Washington. Interment will be at the Musconetcong Valley Cemetery in Hampton.
Viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society Hunterdon Division, 84 Park Ave., Flemington, N.J. 08822, or Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, N.J. 08822.

Dr. Scott Philip Keil, beloved father, friend
NORTH PLAINFIELD -- Dr. Scott Philip Keil, 47, died suddenly Saturday (Oct. 30, 1999) in an accident.
Born in Plainfield, he was the son of the late Dr. Frank Keil, who was a pediatrician in Plainfield, and Theresa Keil.
Dr. Keil graduated from Union Catholic High School, Scotch Plains, in 1970 and was a graduate of Georgetown University. He later graduated from the New York College of Medicine in Valhalla, N.Y., as an ear, nose and throat surgeon. He served his internship in the Bronx, N.Y.
Dr. Keil maintained a private practice in North Plainfield and Somerville for the past 15 years.
He was a Boy Scout leader, president of the Republican Club of North Plainfield, a member of both the Shade Tree Commission and the Economic Development Committee, and had recently joined the Elks Club.
Dr. Keil also served as treasurer of the Somerset Medical Society and was a past Borough Council candidate.
Dr. Keil was such a concerned resident of the borough that he personally picked up litter, maintained overpasses and maintained and planted Overlook Park on Greenbrook Road, North Plainfield.
Surviving are his four beloved children, Douglas, Laura Lou, Theresa and Valerie; his sister, Lee Keil Easop of Greenlawn, N.Y.; a brother, Glenn A. Keil of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and his wife, Loraine.
Family and friends have arranged a memorial Mass to be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph`s Roman Catholic Church, North Plainfield.
His wife will be hosting a "Gathering in the Memory of Scott Keil," to be held 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Higgins Home For Funerals, Mountain Boulevard, Watchung.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Keil Children Trust Fund c/o Unity Bank, 450 Somerset St., North Plainfield.
Dr. Keil`s associate, Dr. David Bortniker, has arranged an annual memorial lectureship at the Department of Otolarangology at the New Jersey Medical School. Donations to this fund should be addressed to the Scott Keil Memorial Lecture Fund, N.J. Medical School, 185 S. Orange Ave., H-592, Newark, N.J.
