Earl Johnson, 72, lifelong resident
SCOTCH PLAINS -- Earl Johnson, 72, died Friday (Nov. 5, 1999) at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Plainfield.
A lifelong resident of Scotch Plains, he was born on June 27, 1927, to the late Hezekiah and Iretha Hamlette Johnson.
He was employed by the Union County Public Works Department, Division of Roads, for over 30 years, until his retirement 10 years ago. Mr. Johnson also served in the U.S. Army. His favorite pastime was fishing and enjoying the company of family and friends.
Surviving are several cousins.
Family members and friends may visit and attend services from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Plinton-Curry Funeral Home, 411 West Broad St., Westfield.
Stanley Puchalski, 83, construction worker
MARTINSVILLE -- Stanley J. Puchalski, 83, died Saturday (Nov. 6, 1999) at Greenbrook Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Puchalski was born and raised in Dunmore, Pa., and lived in New York City and North Plainfield before moving to Martinsville 25 years ago.
He was a construction worker, retiring from Sanguiliano Construction Co. of Scotch Plains. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal from 1942 to 1945, during World War II.
Mr. Puchalski is survived by two sisters, Agnes Swenton of Martinsville and Florence Hart of Green Brook; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Scarpa Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield. Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James Williamson Sr., great-great-grandfather
UNION -- James Williamson Sr., 76, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 1999) at Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark.
Born in Johnsonville, S.C., he lived in Plainfield and Fanwood before moving to Union 18 years ago.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from the Harris Structural Steel Corp. of South Plainfield. He was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, Westfield.
He is survived by his sons, Rochelle Williamson of Plainfield and James Williamson Jr. of Piscataway; his daughter, Annie Williams of Plainfield; his sisters, Naomi Williamson of Brooklyn, N.Y., Juanita Graham of New York, N.Y., Yvonne McWhite and Adele Key, both of Johnsonville, S.C., Betty Williamson of Piscataway, Johnnie M. Perkins of Bronx, N.Y., Mary Hayes of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jerona Wright of Piscataway, and Patricia Williamson of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; his brother, Isaac Williamson of Johnsonville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Latter Day Saints, 1700 West Front St. (corner of Rock Avenue), Plainfield. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Judkins Colonial Home, Plainfield.
Nicholas Venitelli Jr., owned Corvette shop
NORTH PLAINFIELD -- Nicholas P. Venitelli Jr., 56, died Friday, (Nov. 5, 1999) at his home after a long illness of cancer. He was born in Gulfport, Miss., and was a lifelong resident of North Plainfield.
Mr. Venitelli was the owner of "Vette Shop" in Plainfield for the past 30 years, where he did custom Corvette restorations. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield.
He is survived by his father, Nicholas P. Venitelli Sr., and his mother, Concetta Evangelista Venitelli of North Plainfield; a brother, Gerald J. Venitelli of Pittstown; and two sisters, Tina Truppi of Readington and Paula Burns of Burlington Township. Also surviving are four nieces, Jennifer, Michelle, Lisa and Gina.
Services will be 11 am. Tuesday at the Scarpa Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield. Cremation will be private. Visiting hours will be 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of service.
MALGORZATA GORAL, 39, of the Lincroft section of MIDDLETOWN
MALGORZATA GORAL, 39, of the Lincroft section of MIDDLETOWN, died Friday at home. She was a bank teller for Banker Savings, Wayne, for four years until 1984. She was a volunteer for Lincroft and Thompson schools. Born in Poland, she lived in Pompton Lakes and Middletown for 15 years before moving to Lincroft five years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Teddy; a son, David; a daughter, Ashley; four brothers, Ryszard, Jan, Rafat and Mieczyslow; and four sisters, Krystyna, Wanda, Ewa and Agnieszka, all of Poland.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel's Mausoleum, Marlboro. Holmdel Funeral Home, Holmdel, is in charge of arrangements.
PAULINE L. ALTINI, AGE 81, BRIDGEWATER, formerly of BOUND BROOK
Pauline L. Korab Altini died Saturday at Harborside Health Care at Woods Edge in Bridgewater. She was 81.
She was born in Elizabeth and lived in Bound Brook for 60 years before moving to Bridgewater in 1997.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and gardening.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Bound Brook.
Her husband of 63 years, Martin, died in September.
Surviving are a daughter, Alice Gibson of Bridgewater; a sister, Helen Ebert of Detroit; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 8:45 a.m. Wednesday from Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 U.S. Highway 202 South, Branchburg, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway.

HELEN WOYTOW COX, AGE 80, MANVILLE
Helen Woytow Cox died Sunday at Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough. She was 80.
She was born in Bound Brook and lived in Hillsborough before moving to Manville two years ago.
She retired from the Green Knoll Golf Course in Bridgewater, where she managed the snack bar. She had previously worked in the kitchen of the Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough and in the packing department of the General Services Administration Depot in the Belle Mead section of Hillsborough. She received a citation from the government for her service.
Her husband, Earl B. Cox, died in 1958; and a daughter, Dottie Ernst, died in 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia A. Fedorciw, with whom she lived; a son, Earl Ronald Cox of Manville; a brother, Steven Woytow of North Brunswick; five sisters, Lillian Wade of Jeffersonville, N.Y., Stella Slocum of Edison, Violet Bittle of Millstone, Margie Palumbo of the Parlin section of Sayreville and Anna Woytow of Miami, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main St., Manville. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Hopewell.

JOAN KELLY DROZ, AGE 69, MANCHESTER
Joan Kelly Droz died Sunday at Manchester Manor. She was 69.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived there before moving to the Whiting section of Manchester in 1992.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, John; four daughters, Patricia of Brooklyn, Kathleen Spinelli of Cranford, Joan Abitabile of Old Bridge and Jeanne Cleary of Fanwood; a brother, James Kelly of Brooklyn; a sister, Mary Gannon of Farmingdale, N.Y., and four grandchildren.
Services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Route 9, Old Bridge, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Ambrose R.C. Church, Old Bridge. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River section of Dover.

EVELYN HACKER, AGE 95, FRANKLIN
Evelyn Hacker died Sunday at the Central New Jersey Home for the Aged in the Somerset section of Franklin. She was 95.
She was born in Russia and moved to Irvington. She later lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Florida before becoming a resident of the Central New Jersey Home for the Aged three years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Martin and Peter, both of Metuchen; two brothers, Max Kimelman and Michael Kimelman, both of Metuchen; a sister, Anna Kimelman of Los Angeles, and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Old Montefiore Cemetery, St. Albans, N.Y., under the direction of Nieberg Midwood Chapels, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Memorial donations may be made to Hadassah or to the Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged.

G. LEE HASSERT, AGE 78, BRIDGEWATER, formerly of METUCHEN
G. Lee Hassert died Sunday at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 78.
He was born in Passaic and lived in Franklin Township for five years and Metuchen for 42 years before moving to Bridgewater two years ago.
He was a 1943 graduate of Rutgers University and earned a doctorate from Rutgers in 1963.
He retired in 1987 after 41 years as a research toxicologist - pharmacologist at E.R. Squibb & Sons in New Brunswick.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the Pacific.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen, where he served as an elder. He was a former member of the Second Reformed Church in New Brunswick, where he was a choir member and an elder. He also was an associate member of the Congregational Church in Bristol, Maine. He was a member and past president of the English Speaking Union in New Brunswick and a member and past president of the Rutgers Glee Cub. He also was a member of the New York Academy of Science and Sigma Xi Honor Society.
He was predeceased by a brother, John A.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Judith Harper Hassert; two daughters, Sarah W. Hassert and Deborah A. Hassert, both of Metuchen; a brother, William J. of Kansas City, Mo.; a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 270 Woodbridge Ave., Metuchen.
Arrangements were handled by Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen.
