RICHARD T. MAIER SR., 81, of Palm Springs, Fla., formerly of TOMS RIVER, died Friday at John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Atlantis, Fla. He was a warehouse supervisor with Toms River Cincinnati Chemical Works, Toms River, for 24 years, and a sales manager with Action Bolt, Florida, until his retirement. He was a member of the Syrian Lodge and a 33rd degree Mason with the Yeatman Lodge, Cincinnati. Born in Cincinnati, he lived in Toms River before moving to Florida in 1970.
He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Elizabeth Maier, and a son, Lawrence Maier. Surviving are five sons, Richard Maier Jr., Marlboro, Donald Maier, Manahawkin, Stafford, Thomas and Raymond Maier, Toms River, and James Maier, Stuart, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia Maier of Pine Beach, and Katherine Maier of Inverness, Fla.; two sisters, Helen Hischmiller and Evelyn Poehner, Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Toms River. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cincinnati Shriners Pediatric Burn Center, 3229 Burnett Ave., Cincinnati OH 45229-3090. Dorsey Funeral Home, Lake Worth, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
ELEANOR LONGO MARSHALL, 72, of JACKSON
ELEANOR LONGO MARSHALL, 72, of JACKSON, died Sunday at home. She was a cafeteria worker at Glen Rock High School, Glen Rock, for 15 years, until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, Jackson. She was a former communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Hawthorne. Born in Paterson, she lived in Hawthorne for 34 years before moving to Jackson seven years ago.
Her husband, James F. Marshall, died in 1992, and her son, Robert Marshall, in 1966. Surviving are a son, James F. Marshall III, Jackson; a daughter, Gail Livings, North Haven, Conn.; four sisters, Sue Kaiser and Gloria Zirillo, both of Hawthorne, Marie Rieski, Wayne, and Lucille Riffle, Paterson; a brother, Michael Longo, Milwaukee, Wisc.; and five grandchildren.

MARY JANE JENKINS, 79, of the North Beach section of LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at home. She was a homemaker. She was a Navy veteran of the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service, having served during World War II. She was a member of Secular Franciscan, Eucharistic minister of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Brant Beach. She was a former member of the Navy League. Born in Midland, Pa., she had lived in Scotch Plains and Valhalla, N.Y., before moving to North Beach 15 years ago.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Sheldon C.; a son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Jeannette, Hopatcong; and three granddaughters, Kathryn, Kelly and Kristy.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Thos L Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, Stafford. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Brant Beach. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin.

SAMUEL E. MORRISON, 81, of the Oakhurst section of OCEAN TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was a general estimator for B.J. Builders, West Long Branch. He was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. Born in Newark, he was a lifelong Oakhurst resident.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marian D. Morrison, in 1998. Surviving are three sons, Bruce, Hellertown, Pa., Thomas, Atlantic Highlands, and Roger, Bradley Beach; four daughters, Carol Wingerter, Englishtown, Susan Morrison, Belmar, Jill Morrison, Avenel, and Sally Capotorto, Brielle; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Francioni, Taylor and Lopez Funeral Home, 1200-10th Atkins Ave., Neptune. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Monmouth Memorial Park Mausoleum, Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Community Foundation of New Jersey, P.O. Box 317, Morristown, NJ 07693. The foundation is dedicated to helping children's hospitals in New Jersey.

LILLIAN MAY MORROW, 79, of WALL, died Friday at Brick Hospital, Brick. She was a homemaker. Born in Asbury Park, she was a lifelong Shore resident.
She was predeceased by her husband, David S., in 1962. Surviving are two sons, James S., Brick, and Thomas P., Wall; two daughters, Margo E. Gribble, Point Pleasant, and Lois A. Sebold, Nokomis, Fla.; four brothers, Edward Megill, Winston Town, Joseph Megill, West Palm Beach, Fla., Larry Farrell, New York, and William Farrell, Ocean Township; three sisters, Doris Parisi, Toms River, Ethel Daniello, Arizona, and Marion Farrell, Lancaster, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Francioni, Taylor and Lopez Funeral Home, 1200-10th Atkins Ave., Neptune. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Prospect Cemetery, Neptune. The family requests that flowers not be sent.

EVELYN S. HITZEL NICLAS, 82, of SOUTH JERSEY, died Saturday at Hackensack Medical Center, Hackensack. She was a homemaker. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Lodi before moving to South Jersey.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Charles Niclas, in 1986. Surviving are a son and his wife, Ronald R. and Constance, Upper Saddle River; a sister, Adele Prange; a brother-in-law and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Niclas; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Kirchner; two grandchildren, Erica Lane and Gregory Everett; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Van Emburgh-Sneider Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave., Ramsey. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Woodland and Grand avenues, Montvale. The Rev. Edward Haase III will officiate. Interment will follow at Cresthaven Memorial Park, Clifton.

DORIS S. ROSE, 87, of the Crestwood Village section of MANCHESTER, died Saturday at Lacey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lacey. She was a registered nurse for West Hudson Hospital, Kearny, for 40 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star in northern New Jersey. Born in Newark, she lived in Kearny for many years before moving to St. Petersburg, Fla., for 20 years and then to Manchester seven years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl, in 1992, and by a sister, Lois Mc Donough. Surviving are a nephew, Stephen Mc Donough; a niece, Doris Fitzgerald; a grandnephew, Shane Fitzgerald; and a grandniece, Jamie Fitzgerald.

ANN M. RYAN, 73, of the New Egypt section of PLUMSTED, died yesterday at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Church of the Assumption, New Egypt. Born in Dunmore, Pa., she lived in Point Pleasant before moving to New Egypt 2 1/2 years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Patrick and Joanne, Upper Freehold, and James and Adriana Ryan, Howell; three daughters and their husbands, Mary and Jack Mace, Farmingdale, Theresa and Edmund Kulick, Waymart, Pa., and Peggy and Harry Sepp, New Egypt; three sisters, Betty Scholla and Jean Ardizoni, both of Dunmore, Pa., and Mary Farrell, Englishtown; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, with the Rev. Joseph Farrell officiating. Interment will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Spring Lake.

MARIE K. SCHUBER, 75, of MARLBORO died Saturday at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Maplewood, she lived in Matawan before moving to Marlboro in 1945.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis G. Schuber Sr., in 1996. Surviving are two sons, Francis G. Schuber Jr., Pennsylvania, and Robert J. Schuber and his wife, Mary C. Schuber, Homestead, Fla.; two daughters, Jean Ann Tedesco, Robertsville section of Marlboro, and Vicki D. Freitag, Holland, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

KAREN CROUSE STOUT, 61, of New Bern, N.C., whose son lives in FREEHOLD, died Saturday at Craven Regional Medical Center, New Bern. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and president of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of New Bern Woman's Club; Trentwoods Garden Club; North Carolina Easternrose Society; and the Coastal Women's Forum. She was born in Conrad, Iowa.
She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Crouse, Conrad, Iowa. Surviving are her husband, M. Charles Stout; a son and his wife, Kurt M. and Barbara-Ann Davis, Freehold; a daughter and her husband, Hilary M. Davis-Hall and Michael Davis-Hall, Pittsfield, Mass.; three grandsons, Kurt Anthony Davis and Duncan and Jasper Davis-Hall.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Centenary United Methodist Church, North Carolina, with the Rev. Carol Goehring officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Burial will take place at a later date in in Conrad, Iowa. Cotten Funeral Home, New Bern, is in charge of arrangements. SOPHIA ZOHN, of FREEHOLD
SOPHIA ZOHN, of FREEHOLD, died yesterday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She was secretary/treasurer of the local American Association of Retired Persons. She was a member of the Senior Club and the Social Club of the Villages, Freehold. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., she lived in Brooklyn before moving to the Villages section of Freehold 22 years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry, in 1946, and by a stepson, Bernard. Surviving are a son, Dr. Ira Zohn, Wayside, Ocean Township; two stepdaughters, Gertrude Cohen, Florida, and Charlotte Hoffer, Hempstead, N.Y.; a brother, Meyer Katz, Marlboro; two sisters, Sadie Katz, Freehold, and Rose Schwartz, Rego Park, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Darin, Steven, David and Dylan Zohn.
Shiva will be observed at the Zohn residence in Wayside. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Route 35, Ocean Township. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
ROBERT B. GIGL, AGE 82, ROSELLE PARK
Robert B. Gigl died yesterday at home. He was 82.
He was born in Elizabeth and lived in Clark before moving to Roselle Park 40 years ago.
He received his electrical engineering degree from the Newark College of Engineering in 1945.
He retired in 1982 after 45 years as the vice president of manufacturing for Phelps Dodge Industries Inc., Elizabeth.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 253, Elizabeth.
He was a member of the Suburban Golf Club, Union, and the Roselle Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Hurley; two sons, Robert Jr. of the Colonia section of Woodbridge, and Thomas of Clifton Hills, Pa.; two daughters, Doreen Oliveri of Fredricksburg, Va., and Virginia Christopher of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; a brother, Raymond of Westfield; a sister, Gertrude Murray of Fanwood; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Leonard Home for Funerals, 242 West Jersey Ave., Elizabeth, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph the Carpenter R.C. Church, Roselle. Burial will be held at St. Gertrude's R.C. Cemetery, Colonia.

Maisie B. Otto, 91, native of Scotland
BRIDGEWATER -- Maisie B. Otto, 91, died Saturday (Nov. 6, 1999) at Bridgeway Care Center, Bridgewater.
She was born in Scotland and came to the United States in 1911. She lived in Livingston, West Orange and Whiting before moving to Bridgewater in 1993.
Mrs. Otto was a former legal secretary for William Conover, an attorney in East Orange. She was a member of the Freehold Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Arthur, died in 1990.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Horst Gloede of Bridgewater; a brother, Charles Batchelor of Swartswood; and two granddaughters, Lise and Karin Gloede of Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Restland Memorial Park Chapel, 77 DeForest Ave., East Hanover. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave., Somerville.
