ORESTE DE FERRO, 78, of MIDDLETOWN, died yesterday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a district manager in sales at Ingersol-Rand, for 39 years, retiring in 1986. He was a Navy veteran of World War II with the rank of chief gunners mate. He was a 1951 graduate of Tufts University, Medford, Mass. He was a member of the Mechanical Engineering Society and the Ship Ahoy Beach Club, Sea Bright. He was a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Born in Manhattan, he lived in River Plaza, Hamburg, N.Y., before moving to Middletown 38 years ago.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Lydia Duest DeFerro; three daughters, Patricia Mullins, Altamonte Springs, Fla., Jean DeBellas, Longwood, Fla., and Donna Ridgeway, Fair Haven; and five grandchildren, Shaun Mullins, Lauren DeBellas, Max DeBellas, Jake Ridgeway and Kate Ridgeway.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home Inc., 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.
LOUIS DIGIACOMO, of Bayville, BERKELEY
LOUIS DI GIACOMO, of Bayville, BERKELEY, died yesterday at home. He was a self-employed photographer, owning and operating Hallmark Photographers, Teaneck, for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Professional Photographers Association of America New Jersey Chapter, and was one of the first photographers to be certified in the state of New Jersey. He was a communicant of St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, Bayville. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Secaucus for many years before moving to Bayville in 1992.
Surviving are his wife, Anita Westermann DiGiacomo; a son, Richard, Bayonne; two brothers, Joseph, Ridgefield, and Gabriel, Timonium, Md.; a sister, Carmel Viggiano, Edison; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Route 9, Bayville. A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Barnabas Church, Bayville. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

CLAIRE ANNE STRAVITSCH EICKMEYER, 52, of OCEAN TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was employed by the Ocean Township Board of Education and taught business in the high school for 10 years. She was a member of Presbyterian Church on the Hill, Ocean Township. She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association. She was a 1968 graduate of Ryder College with a teaching degree and received her master's degree in business education in 1972 from Hunter College. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Ocean Township since 1974.
Surviving are her husband of 29 years, Otto C. Eickmeyer; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles and Heather Eickmeyer, Manassas, Va., and James Eickmeyer, at home; two daughters, Denise and Christine Eickmeyer, at home; her parents, Joseph Stravitsch and Clara Reinhart, Sun City, Fla.; and a brother, Joseph Stravitsch, Katy, Texas.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Route 138, Wall. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Presbyterian Church on the Hill, the Rev. William Turner officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. ELSIE M. ESCHER, 85, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, died Saturday at Atlantic City Medical Center, Atlantic City. She was a homemaker and an avid bowler. She was an aide in the cafeteria at Central Regional High School, Berkeley, for 10 years. Born in Neptune, she lived in Forked River, Lacey, and Bayville, Berkeley, for many years before moving to Manchester two years ago.
Her husband of 20 years, Henry Escher, died in 1989. Her sister, Helen Van Houten, died in 1998. Surviving are a son, Ernest Mueller, Barnegat; a daughter, Ellen Williams, Swan Lake, Montana; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be inurnment services 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Luck Cemetery, Lanoka Harbor, Lacey. O'Connell's Home for Funerals, Bayville, is in charge of arrangements.
KATHLEEN U. HOGAN FOLEY, 65, of HOLMDEL
KATHLEEN U. HOGAN FOLEY, 65, of HOLMDEL, died yesterday at home. She was a clerk for the Middletown Township tax assessor for 10 years. Born in Greenwich Village, N.Y., she lived in Middletown for 30 years before moving to Holmdel eight years ago.
Surviving are a son, James Foley Jr., Middletown; a daughter, Kathleen Foley Murphy, Matawan; a brother, Peter Hogan, Savannah, Ga.; a grandson, William Murphy III; her former husband; a cousin, Theresa Maloney; her best friend, Betty Dworkin, and her many friends who have been so good to her.

MARGUERITE A. HENNINGER, 83, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, died Friday at Belmont Manor Nursing Center, Belmont, Mass. She was employed in the accounting and national Yellow Pages department of New Jersey Bell, Newark and Irvington, for 25 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and the National Phi Beta Psi Sorority. She was a former member of Toms River Elks Lodge 1875 Ladies Auxiliary and Silver Ridge Park Women's Club, Toms River. Born in Newark, she lived in Caldwell for 15 years and Silver Ridge Park in Toms River for nine years before moving to Crestwood Manor, Whiting, in 1996.
Her husband, Albert T., died in 1997. Surviving are a brother, Richard Kern of Houston, Texas, and a nephew, Guy A. Kern of Milton, Mass.
Visiting hours will be 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
EMILY B. KELLY, 86, of OCEAN GROVE
EMILY B. KELLY, 86, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday at Manor-by-the-Sea, Neptune. She was a maintenance worker for the New York Telephone Company, Brooklyn, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. Born in New York City, she lived in Brooklyn before moving to Ocean Grove 19 years ago.
Her husband, Nicholas F. Kelly, died in 1974. Surviving are a son, George A. Kelly, Hackettstown; a brother, Theodore Powell, California; a sister, Eileen Powell, Bayside, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
A graveside ceremony will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y., with burial following. There are no calling hours. Ocean Grove Memorial Home, Ocean Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
GLADYS M. KERELAK, 93, of Crestwood Village, Whiting, MANCHESTER
GLADYS M. KERELAK, 93, of Crestwood Village, Whiting, MANCHESTER, died Sunday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was a service clerk at Western Electric, Kearny, for 38 years, retiring in 1970. She was a member of Western Electric Retired Employees Association, Brick; Telephone Pioneers of America; and the Lakeshore Lodge Social Club and Lakeshore Residents Association of Pine Ridge, Whiting. She attended Lakehurst Presbyterian Church, Lakehurst. Born in New Brunswick, Canada, she lived in Irvington before moving to the Crestwood Village section of Whiting in 1975.
Surviving are her husband, Stephen E. Kerelak; 13 nieces; 12 nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Whiting Memorial Park, Whiting.
FRANCIS E. KING, 60, of BRICK
FRANCIS E. KING, 60, of BRICK, died Saturday at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford. He retired in 1996 as production supervisor from 3M, Freehold, after 31 years of service. He served in the Coast Guard. He was a member of Monmouth County Rifle and Pistol Club and the National Rifle Association. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 41, Brick, and a 4-H leader in Ocean County. He raised Seeing Eye dogs for Puppy Power, a part of 4-H. Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, he lived in Brick for 32 years.
Surviving are his wife, A. Ruby King; two sons, Wayne and Amy King, and Darryl and his companion, Michele Izzo, all of Brick; his mother, Loberta Speakman, Chillicothe, Ohio; a brother, Elwood King, Florida; and three granddaughters.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at D'Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 and Vermont Avenue, Lakewood. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.

FLORENCE A. KROWN, 81, of WALL, died Sunday at Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant. She was a licensed practical nurse for 33 years at St. Vincent's Children's Hospital, Camden Municipal Hospital and the Laurelton Convalescent Center. She was a member of the West Belmar Extension. She was a member of Glendola Bible Church and the Women's Guild, Wall. Born in Camden, she lived there for 42 years and in Collingswood for seven years before moving to Wall two years ago.
Her husband, Charles, died in 1968. Surviving are a daughter, Jo-Ann Merckx, Wall, and seven grandchildren, Christina Merckx, Xenia, Ohio, Michelle Merckx, Abington, Pa., Frank Merckx Jr., Madison, Adam and Joshua Merckx and Jasper Bragg, all Wall, and Abigail Keating,f Morrison, Colo.

NS KUETTEL, 88, of Silver Ridge Park West, BERKELEY, died yesterday at home. He was the owner and director of Kuettel Laboratories, Arlington, from 1949 until his retirement in 1982. Before that, he was employed at E.I Du Pont de Nemours and Co. Inc., Arlington, from 1936 to 1949 as a research plastics microchemist. He was a microchemist for the Institute of Paper Chemistry, Appleton, Wis., from 1934 to 1936. He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, Toms River. He was a member of the Metropolitan Microchemical Society, serving as president from 1951 to 1952 and executive chairman from 1952 to 1953. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, Analytical Group, North Jersey, serving as treasurer from 1949 to 1950 and program chairman from 1952 to 1953. He was a member of the Honorary Chemical Fraternity, Delta Chi Theta; a charter member of the Kearny Chamber of Commerce; and was listed in the American Men of Science Eighth Edition. He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, Berkeley. He was a 1933 graduate of Lawrence College, Appleton, Wis. Born in Winnieconne, Wis., he lived in Parsippany-Troy Hills, before moving to Berkeley in 1982.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Ferraioli Kuettel, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A funeral Mass will be Friday at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
VIRGINIA WILKINSON LEATHERS, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP
VIRGINIA WILKINSON LEATHERS, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Sunday at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, of congestive heart failure. She was known for her stylish hats and Southern charm. She worked for years in the textile industry in Manhattan and was active in the Junior League of the Oranges in New Jersey. Born in Columbia, S.C., she lived in Orange before moving to Freehold in 1992.
She was predeceased by her husband, L. Hudson Leathers. Surviving are a son, John, and two grandchildren, Joanna and Jonathan Leathers, all of Manhattan.
Burial will be in South Carolina. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, is in charge of arrangements.
MINNA LEFKOWITZ, 86, of Somerset, whose granddaughters live in MONMOUTH COUNTY
MINNA LEFKOWITZ, 86, of Somerset, whose granddaughters live in MONMOUTH COUNTY, died Friday at Central New Jersey Jewish Home, Somerset. She ran her own clothing-alteration business in Brooklyn before becoming a manager for Joyce Leslie stores on 86th Street, New York. She later worked for Lerner Shops, New York. After retiring from Lerner Shops, she again started her own clothing-alteration business in East Windsor. Born in Brooklyn, she lived there until 1980 when she moved to East Windsor.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Stanley Cramer, East Windsor; a brother, Morris Minoff, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Ethel Kerchman, Mission Viejo, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Hillary Blank, Manalapan, and Valerie Abramson, Marlboro.
Services were held noon Sunday at Bloomfield-Cooper Funeral Home, Englishtown. Burial followed in Washington-Floral Park Cemetery, Monmouth Junction. Shiva will be observed at the home of Myra and Stanley Cramer until Friday.

JOSEPH C. LOSIO 75, of Crestwood Village Two, Whiting, MANCHESTER, died yesterday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He ws a materials manager for St. Luke's Hospital, Newburg, N.Y., and Mount Alverno, Warwick, N.Y., retiring in 1989. He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 502, Whiting. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, Whiting, and served as eucharistic minister. He was a member of Our Lady of Pines Council 9852, Whiting, and a fourth degree Knights of Columbus of Newburgh, N.Y. He was a member of the Italian American Club, Whiting; a trustee of Village II; and an associate of Franciscan Sisters of the Poor of Brooklyn. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Beaver Dam Lake, N.Y., before moving to Crestwood Village in 1992.
His wife, Winifred Losio, died in 1993. Surviving are three brothers, John A., North Palm Beach, Fla., George P., Farmingdale, N.Y., and Rudolph, Whiting.
