RAFFAELE "RALPH" RUSSO, 82, of RUMSON
RAFFAELE "RALPH" RUSSO, 82, of RUMSON, died Sunday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was a machinist at Wilco Woodworking Corp., Brooklyn, N.Y., for 33 years, retiring in 1976. He was an Army veteran of World War. He was a member of the National Guard, 23rd-106th Infantry, Brooklyn. He was an active member of United Furniture Workers Union. Born in Brooklyn, he lived there before moving to Rumson in 1996.
His wife, Lorraine Kravitz, died in 1995. Surviving are a great-nephew and great-niece-in-law, Frank and Cindy Russo, with whom he lived; a niece and nephew-in-law, Connie and Michael Fiorillo of Ocean Township, and their children; and a nephew and niece-in-law, Thomas L. Sr. and Anna Russo of Long Branch, and their children.
A memorial Mass will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Hoffman Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements.
ROSE A. MCCOY RICCA, 79, of BELMAR
ROSE A. MC COY RICCA, 79, of BELMAR, died yesterday at home. She retired in 1975 as a tester from Sonetronics, Wall. She also worked in the cafeteria at St. Rose School from 1965 to 1968. She was a communicant of St. Rose Roman Catholic Church, Belmar, where she served as eucharistic minister, a member of the choir, the Altar Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary Our Lady Star of the Sea Presidium. She was an active member of the Third Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. She was loved by all and a friend to everyone. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Union City and in Richfield before moving to Belmar in 1960.
Her daughter, Madalen, died in 1956. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and Harry, and a sister, Marie. Surviving are four sons, Joseph W. and Martin P., Florida, Robert L., Bordentown, and Stephen F., South Belmar; a daughter, Mary R. Lynch, Belmar; 18 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Reilly Funeral Home, Eighth Avenue and D Street, Belmar. A funeral will be 9 a.m. Thursday with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Church. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. In lieu of flowers, a Mass offering would be appreciated.
DOLORES J. "SUSIE" REID, 58, of TOMS RIVER
DOLORES J. "SUSIE" REID, 58, of TOMS RIVER, died yesterday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was a homemaker. Born in Waretown, she lived in Forked River, Lacey, for 18 years before moving to Toms River in 1968.
Surviving are her husband, Barry; three sons, Kevin Parsons, Brigantine, James Parsons, Forked River, and Barry Reid, Toms River; two daughters, Mary Ellen Audette, Glens Falls, N.Y., and Susan Lynne Reid, Toms River; a brother, Burney Brown, Forked River; and 10 grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
EVELYN V. PIERRO, 86, of BRADLEY BEACH
EVELYN V. PIERRO, 86, of BRADLEY BEACH, died yesterday at home. She worked for the Superior Court, Bergen County, and for the Bergen County clerk's office. She also worked for Weight Watchers for more than 10 years. Together with her husband, she founded the Babe Ruth League of Cliffside Park. She was a member of the Cliffside Park Senior Citizens Club, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers of Epiphany Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks, holding positions of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Cliffside Park for more than 50 years before moving to Bradley Beach.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald G. Pierro, and two brothers, Gerard and Kenneth Smith. Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Elaine Dennis, Howell, and Jacqueline Behson, Wall; a son, George Pierro, Bayonne; a brother, Eugene Smith, Bradley Beach; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and his wife, Gabriel and Lillian Pierro, Toms River; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Smith, West Caldwell; two nieces; and six nephews.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McDonough Funeral Home, 304 Eighth Ave., Belmar. A funeral Liturgy will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ascension Church, Bradley Beach. ANNA S. PERCUDANI, 94, of SPRING LAKE
ANNA S. PERCUDANI, 94, of SPRING LAKE, died Sunday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She was a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. Born in Hungary, she lived in the Shore area most of her life.
Her husband, Louis, died in 1983. Surviving are three sisters, Olga Browning, Spring Lake, Isabel Metzgar, Spring Lake Heights, and Ethel Singaliese, Neptune City; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Meehan Funeral Home, 555 Warren Ave., Spring Lake Heights. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Catharine's Church. Interment will follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery.
HELEN E. NOLDE, 97, of OCEAN GROVE
HELEN E. NOLDE, 97, of OCEAN GROVE, died yesterday at Francis Asbury Manor, Neptune. She was a clerk for Prudential Insurance Co., Newark, for more than 36 years, retiring in 1957. She was a member of Wesley Evangelical Fellowship, Newark. Born in Irvington, she lived in Newark before moving to Ocean Grove eight years ago.
Surviving are several cousins.
A graveside ceremony will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hollywood Cemetery, Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, with burial following. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, New York and Embury avenues, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 would be appreciated. MORITZ "Missou" NAPPE, 97, of LONG BRANCH
MORITZ "Missou" NAPPE, 97, of LONG BRANCH, died Friday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was a psychotherapist for more than 55 years, an entrepreneur and a benefactor to the community. He donated the land to the federal government for Earle Naval Weapons Station. He holds commercial patents in various industries on products that are still in use today and set numerous legal predecents that are still studied today. He established a free clinic in New York where he treated an untold number of people with psychological disorders. It was at the clinic where he met L. Ron Hubbard and helped in the foundation of Dianetics. Among other acquaintances were Henry Kissinger and Sigmund Freud and many other luminaries around the world. He owned a plant in Farmingdale that manufactured medical tents for war efforts. He owned a chicken farm in Farmingdale, which then became the site of Farmingdale Elementary School. In real estate, he was a part of Farmingdale Realty and Burgandy Associates. Some of his many real estate accomplishments are owning a historical landmark and numerous development projects around the country. He gave unselfishly to many charities. He was generous not only with his money but with his time. He donated an estate to the Jersey Shore Woman's Club to be auctioned off for various charities. He lead a rich and varied life and traveled the world numerous times. He was highly educated, a student of life who fluently spoke seven languages. Born in Romania, he came to the United States in 1939, living in Farmingdale and in the Monmouth County area for many years, moving to Long Branch 25 years ago.
Surviving are four sons, Stanley of Fresno, Calif., Robert of Linnwood, Stephen of Westerlo, N.Y., and Victor of Matawan; a daughter, Jessica Gabrielson, Fresno, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Cheri Matthews and Jena Nappe.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at United Church by the Shore, Asbury Park. Flowers are accepted or donations to United Church by the Shore, 3508 Asbury Ave., Neptune, NJ 07753. DeGraff Cremation Services, Lakehurst, is in charge of arrangements.
SOPHIA W. MENZEL, 94, of Cliffwood, ABERDEEN
SOPHIA W. MENZEL, 94, of Cliffwood, ABERDEEN, died Saturday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. She was employed as secretary-treasurer by Wagner Trucking Company, Cliffwood Beach, before retiring. She was previously employed by the Cliffwood Beach Company. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Born in New Monmouth, Middletown, she lived in Cheesequake, Old Bridge, before moving to Cliffwood in 1920.
Her husband, Adolph, died in 1987. She was predeceased by three sisters and five brothers Surviving are a son, John F. Menzel, Marion, Mass.; a daughter, Veronica M. Menzel, Cliffwood; and two grandchildren, Richard A., Houston, Texas, and Marianne J., Brighton, Mass.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A funeral service will be 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by a 9:15 a.m funeral Liturgy at St. Joseph's Church, Keyport. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport.
MARIE F. KEARNS MCGORTY, 74, of BRICK
MARIE F. KEARNS MC GORTY, 74, of BRICK, died yesterday at Brick Hospital. She was a cafeteria worker at Brick Hospital for many years, retiring in 1990. Prior to that, she was a cafeteria worker for the Brick schools. She was a member and officer of the Old Guard Ladies Auxiliary, Point Pleasant. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Point Pleasant before moving to Brick 42 years ago.
Her husband, Patrick McGorty, died in 1981. Surviving are five sons, Kevin McGorty, Tallahassee, Fla., Patrick McGorty, Bensalem, Pa., Sean McGorty, Belmar, and Terence McGorty and Timothy McGorty, both Brick; a daughter, Eileen Moscatello, Fair Haven; a brother, James Kearns, White Plains, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Route 88, Brick. A funeral Mass will be 10:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Lake Church, Lakewood. THOMASINA C. MCKELVEY, 71, of Iselin in Woodbridge, who has two sons living in MONMOUTH COUNTY, died Sunday at home. She was a secretary for the Hudson County Board of Education for 20 years, retiring in 1974. Born in Jersey City, she lived there before moving to Iselin 25 years ago
Her husband, Kenneth, died in 1979. Her son, Thomas, died in 1979. Surviving are three sons, Kenneth, Secaucus, Robert, Neptune, and Alan, Hazlet; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, with burial at Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.
GEORGE VUOSO, AGE 83, SOMERVILLE
George Vuoso died Sunday at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. He was 83.
He was born in Ischia, Italy, and lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Somerville 20 years ago. He also maintained a winter home in Naples, Italy.
He retired in 1978 after 42 years as a longshoreman with the International Longshoreman Union in New York City.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Somerville.
He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Surviving are his wife, Anna L.; two sons, Frank of Somerville and George of Stony Point, N.Y.; a sister, Demonica Vuoso of Brooklyn, and a brother, Joseph of Naples, Fla.; three grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
A Mass will be conducted 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Somerville. Burial will be held at Bound Brook Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bruce C. Van Arsdale Funeral Home, Raritan.
Memorial donations may be made to the Somerville Rescue Squad.

George Vuoso, 83, World War II veteran
SOMERVILLE -- George Vuoso, 83, died Sunday (Nov. 7, 1999) at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville.
Born in Ischia, Italy, he formerly resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Somerville 12 years ago. He also enjoyed living in Naples, Fla., during the winter months for the past 10 years.
He was a longshoreman for the International Longshoreman Association Union in Manhattan, N.Y., for 42 years, retiring in 1978. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Vuoso was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville, an avid fan of the New York Yankees, and also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Anna L. of Somerville; two sons, Frank of Somerville and George of Stony Point, N.Y.; a sister, Demonica Vuoso of Brooklyn; a brother, Joseph E. of Naples, Fla.; three grandsons, Frank, Paul B. and Michael; and one great- granddaughter, Kayla Marie.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave., Somerville, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be at Bound Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Somerville Rescue Squad.
